Unpopular opinions!

I think the Quran and the Bible should be tossed into a book burning campaign. They're way too overrated and outdated, and they perpetuate a cycle of hate as long as they exist. Moderate Christians and Muslims can say that that's not the case, but I believe as long as the books screaming for the death of unbelievers and homosexuals and promoting sexism and holy wars is considered a 'holy book', there will always be people idiotic and moronic enough to believe them. (Clarification: I have nothing against religion itself, its the acts of people blowing up buildings and/or yelling for homosexuals to all die and such and thinking that it's just and moral are what I have a problem with. Just saying.)

I think there's enough child porn going around in the internet to let the phedophiles be. It's not their fault they are unfortunately attracted to children. If only there was a way to make sure no more child porn is going to be produced and no more kids will be exploited, they could jack off to their porn and fantasize for all I care. I mean, the reason why child molestation is prominent could be the fact that they can't tend to their desires legally.

I think we should not stop people from committing suicide. We can help, but not explicitly forbid them to. I find it selfish for someone to not give a loved one who's been utterly suffering a chance to end their suffering. They should not go off without their loved ones offering guidance and love though. Only them should have the power whether or not they want to continue. Kinda fucked up, but it's like euthanasia. If the guy has been in so much pain inside for so long that he can't deal with in anymore, it's cruel to keep forcing them to live.

I think sociopaths are overly demonized in today's culture. They're just another kind of people, who just happen to experience emotion and has a reasoning that's a little different than the normal folk. They're different, could be dangerous at times, but they're still people. Get over it.

So yeah. Unpopular opinions. :3

I think the person above me is completely wrong in everyone of their opinions (except the Quran one; I'm Christian).

I also think that women shouldn't be allowed to go to war. Now, BEFORE anyone throws a fit let me explain:

Women are magicians who can somehow make people come out of them.

I don't know anybody that would kill a unicorn, but apparently the military thinks it's ok for women to march into battle, get shot at, get their legs blown off and maybe even killed JUST SO THEY COULD LOOK MACHO.

I mean, I get that this is all because of the social justice movement (getting chicks out of the kitchen and into the workplace) but from a logical point of view these are our BABY MAKERS. There's a reason it's women and children first when a boat is sinking. We're basically sacrificing the survival of our species for "social justice" and "equality". I'm not even going to comment on whether women are capable of handling the trauma of battle (NOTE: some macho MEN can't).

In conclusion, the image of a woman, who in my view is a sacred artifact, a holy grail if you will, that should never be put in harms way even if she wants to protect her country, running into machine gun fire is honestly sickening.

There are 7 billion people on this planet, most of them female. I'm sure the human race can suffer a few women dying in combat.

Edit: I think the gender balance equalized recently, actually.

I don't believe god exists. I also believe

that religion is one of the worst things that happened to humanity.

Generally I don't get into debates, but the women in combat... I have to put my two cents in.

First off, I'm a squad leader in the united states army. I'm the infantry and have been for coming up on eleven years (minus four years I was a combat medic, but another story all together). I know what it means to suck.

Women in combat arms cannot work. Nothing against women. I've met women who have more balls then some of my soldiers. However coma, I've yet to meet a 120 pound woman who can hump an 100 pound ruck up the side of a mountain. Not to mention the weight of their body armor, a full combat load of ammunition and the food and water needed for the duration of the operation. I weight 220 pounds and my body hates me when I do it.

Two. This is a bit adult, but it's a real issue. I've gone six months without running water before. Imagine for a moment how ripe one would be. Now imagine a woman after its that time of the month. For six consecutive months. The infantry works in the most austere environments imaginable. A woman has to keep clean or she risks infection. If one of my soldiers goes down due to illness, that's a rifle being taken out of the fight which puts the formation at risk. Everyone is needed in a fight, which is why personal hygiene comes before food and sleep when it comes to priorities of work.

Women have been serving in the armed forces for decades. There's a reason why they haven't been in the infantry and it's not sexism.

Thing is the FEMINISTS are the ones pushing this anti-woman agenda.

ArQane I think you've said that approximatley 1,423,765 times, so I really don't care. Atheists constantly have to assure people that they aren't "lunatics" and would never believe in religion, even tho atheism is a religion in its own.

Vandal, you seem like a rational guy. You have completely different reasons to prove that point, but they are still good and valid reasons.

I don't think Robin Williams or Michael Jackson are that iconic, I mean they are good but there's better.

As someone who has been forced into a skirt and then taken to school while wearing that skirt, I think people should be able to choose whether they want to wear the typically 'female' or 'male' uniform. Just a personal opinion after years of that torment, that many people don't share.

Actually, as an Atheist, I take a slight offense to that statement. The majority of us don't have to assure that we aren't "lunatics." In fact, the only reason we have to do so is because a religious person is attacking us for our belief, or non-belief rather. Contrary to what the majority opinion is, we do not "force" our thoughts on others, just like any good worshipper wouldn't "force" their beliefs on someone else.
And Atheism isn't a religion. It is the choice not to have a religion.

Just a poke towards some of the earlier replies, but keep it on topic guys. This thread is for sharing unpopular opinions, but not a debate thread. If you wish to debate any of the opinions in this thread, I encourage you to start a thread in our new Discussion & Debates forum with a specific topic to discuss. Otherwise keep this thread for what it was meant to be. Thanks :)

I think that people with genetic defects, illnesses (also mental) and all of that kind, should not be allowed to reproduce, now that our medicine gets better and better natural selection can't do it's work properly anymore, making it possible for people with genetic defects and inherited illnesses to reproduce, creating offspring that is probably even worse regarding health, heir offspring will then again be even worse and so on... Just look at all those kids with their 100 allergies, inherited illnesses, disabilities, etc.

Also I think that pedophiles who are attracted to girls at the age of around 13-17 shouldn't really be called pedophiles, there is a reson that girls at that age already get their periods, in nature they would have to create offspring already, fully developed young girls have it easiest to bear a child a their pelvic bones are still the most flexible, in other words, they would actually be MEANT to already bear children, that it is a no-no for men to like girls below the age of 18 is something purely social and I think it is good that way, but still, a bit harsh sometimes, for example when a dude has something with a 17 year old and ends up in jail, THOSE FEW MONTHS.

Ooo, this seems fun. Let's give it a shot.

#1: Like several people who have already posted, I dislike religions of all sorts. I think they bring people together for the wrong reasons, encourage the exclusion of those different from yourself, and give people an excuse to hate others when they otherwise would have no reason or justification to do so. I also believe they limit our vision and lead us to pay more attention to our higher power than the people around us.

#2: I thoroughly detest the idea of nationalism. My American citizenship means nothing to me, and has on occasion produced more revulsion in place of pride despite the fact that I have virtually no ties to those that live in my country save for the ties I make myself. I had no choice in my citizenship, nor did most of those with whom I share the country. I believe nationalism encourages xenophobia and arrogance far more than anything else. I don't dislike my country, I just feel no reason to connect myself to it, and see plenty of reasons why that's a terrible idea.

#3 This one is hard to word correctly, but the best way I can come up with is this: I distrust police officers. I recognize courage and sacrifice in all forms as honorable, and respectable, but these things do not automatically convey other good character traits. Police should strive to be above average in every measure of the word "character" and yet so many will abuse their power simply as a reflex. No one should have the ability to make your life worse simply because you called them a dickhead, or even just said something they didn't like. I recognize and appreciate the fact that not all officers will do that, and am sure that very few are outright bad people in any sense of the word, but experience has taught me to guard my tongue and watch my behavior around police, even when I have done nothing wrong. I would never go out of my way to hinder an officer, it's just that, like I said, I distrust almost all of them when I meet them.

I find my nearly endless neutrality to be more of a curse than a blessing.

Your waifu is shit at least 99% of the time.

My mental illnesses essentially make me who I am.
