The oncoming train gave Mason little time to think. He trusted Billy to keep their rear safe, and charged forwards towards the train. His whole body was alight with his aura. Adrenaline coursed through his veins as he charged forwards. He opened and closed portals in rapid succession, giving him small boosts towards the front of the group. Though, this only made the moment of facing the oncoming train come sooner.

"Portals, huh? Well, you're not the only one!"

Despite Mason's confident remark, he was terrified. The portals he made were roughly human sized, about 2 meters tall. Most of his aura contructs were within those bounds as well. He'd never made something this big before, but he didn't have time to worry about it. His aura flared up, burning brighter, as he put all his focus into one creation. Spike might notice the lighter he made earlier disappear in a whisp of purple smoke as Mason's concentrarion was turned elsewhere.

"HYAHHHH!"

Mason screamed from the depths of his lungs as he placed his hands outwards. His aura shifted, flowing down his arms to congregate at each of his palms. It formed into two orbs of aura. One hand faced towards the train...



...and the other hand he swung backwards, sending his aura in an arc over the heads of the group. The ball of energy energy stopped in the middle of the air, still connected Mason by a thin strand of aura. His range was limited, and the portal would fade if it went any farther from him. It didn't quite make it over Billy's barrier, but perhaps Jianyu's Psycho Power could get the train the extra distance it needed.

The two orbs of energy began to flatten into disk shapes, growing larger, and larger, and larger. They opened up into portals that would eventually reach the size of the train, though each time they grew it drained more and more of Mason's aura. The aura surrounding him was dim. This stunt would cost him his powers for awhile, if not his consciousness.​

Elliot struggled against Gentaro's grip, straining to wiggle out, but it was no use. "What are you-- Ugh!-- talking about!?" he exclaimed.

The train, redirected partly thanks to Jianyu, traveled through Mason's portal and out to the edge of the docks. Billy dropped the barrier as the train crashed into the back of the docks. "Save the passengers!" Billy cried, using the last of his magic to save anyone from the carnage, but it seemed Elliot had specifically conjured a train carrying only building materials. The collision caused metal to explode outward, showering the entrance to the docks and making it impossible for any more to pass through. Some armed men remained, but they were preoccupied with the train, allowing the group to get on in time.

"Anyone know how to drive this thing?" Cullen asked as Billy was the last of the group to hop on board. For the moment, The First Lady sat stationary.

❝ Uh... crap, I dunno if I can trust myself piloting an airship. ❞ Blake nervously sweats once it came to the next hurdle in all this. It wasn't like he could use his cube to figure out learning to pilot this airship in the next few critical moments. So, yeah, he hoped someone could do so pronto.

"...fuuuck..." Jianyu groaned, managing to make it to a chair inside the airship before collapsing in it. Looked like everyone was okay, at least, save for the property damage...but hey, not like it'd matter if Revan got his ass handed to him, right? Um...maybe. Everything still was kind of up in the air about this whole thing. All she knew right now was that she was wiped the fuck out. Hopefully however long this air ride was would be enough to get her some decent rest...

Mason collapsed onto the seat next to Jianyu, equally drained from the encounter. He mumbled to the group, "I agree with Lucifer. These two are native to the world, maybe they know how," pointing at Elliot and Bridgette. "Though it seems like we're not on the best terms, considering you threw a train at us. Thanks for at least not throwing one filled with passengers at us. Could have cost more lives than just ours."​

The chaos of the situation threw Giorno Giovanna off his usual balance, the young don being relegated to a passenger aboard a rollercoaster ride as the gang trampled throughout the docks and eventually found themselves aboard some sort of blimp-like machine. A part of him wished to stop the chaos and hostility at every step of the way - doing whatever needed to be done to calm everyone down - but Giorno knew better than anyone that time was of the essence.

If this is the path they chose to take for this mission, then he has no other choice but to work with it.

As the airship lay still at the dock, Giorno immediately forced himself through the crowd towards the cockpit, silently scanning the controls for anything that made even a little bit of sense. He'd driven a car before, and pretty well considering he didn't have a license... surely he or someone could figure this out they looked at it for long enough.

"We'll figure it out. Watch the door, and calm Elliot down," Giorno quickly shot back at Cullen without looking at him, briefly turning around to spot Elliot still writhin in Gentaro's claw-like contraption. "Let him out of that thing, Gentaro. None of this has gone how it should have gone, but we're not kidnappers. Everyone else should watch the door for more polizia or find a way to get this thing moving.

The longer we stay docked, the more time they have to clear the rubble of the train. Speaking of that train... did 'Elliot' summon it?

Giorno silently looked at Elliot, regardless of how he may be responding to the current debacle. Something about him seemed off. No time to think about it - he refocused himself on the airship controls.

Gentaro let Elliot go before switching off his Fourze driver, causing his plate of armor to be removed.​

Nathan just stared at the chaos in front of him, Elliot and the others yelling at each other.

"What the fuck!?"Nathan yelled, putting a hand on his gun that he kept tucked into his jacket.

Starting to think this isn't a dream anymore.

Watching the train barrel towards the group. Clark had enough time to use X-ray vision on the train, confirming it's emptiness. However, train ran towards a group of police officers.

Running faster than a speeding buller, Clark pull the police offers out of the way, one by one. As the cops realized they were safe, Clark smiled in there direction, before zooming and jumping towards the air ship in a single bound, Clark land next to Giorno with a sturdy thud.

Emily couldn't quite reach it in time with her stone magic, and thus the train crashed, which sent a shiver down her spine as she feared for the passengers, until it was revealed that it was full of cargo. Sighing in relief, she turned her attention to Elliot.

"Once we get out of here... I'll try and explain."

Emily said apologetically.

Without wasting anymore time, she joined Giorno at the controls, hurriedly looking them over. She had seen her brother pilot the Luna Moth a few times, perhaps the controls here were no different.

"Here, I'll help! My stone can protect the airship, but I don't know how long I can do that for!" She shouted.

Taking a deep breath, she gripped the steering wheel tightly, and searched for a lever or something to start the airship. She just had to hope she could emulate Navin's knack for piloting vehicles well enough here.​

Giorno silently acknowledged Emily with a nod, watching her find something resembling a steering wheel and perhaps an ignition. With her help, he'd continue running over the controls. At the very least, separating the airship from the dock was the best-case scenario. Figuring out how to steer and maneuver the thing could be handled later.

Elliot landed in a heap after Gentaro let him go. He grunted as he got to his feet, smoothing down his clothing with his hands. "You... You beasts!" he exclaimed. "You foul people! You incited a riot! Think about all the people you probably hurt!"

The airship's controls were actually quite simple. The engine was running already and the ship had a robust auto-pilot system. All it required was a button press and a push on the speed lever, though the default coordinates was anyone's guess. Cullen joined the others at the controls and thankfully they managed to get it moving. "Who knows where it's going," Cullen commented.

The airship was a modest size, almost not large enough to fit the entire group. It was lushly decorated with gold and burgundy finishes. At the back of the ship was a small museum where the first lady's mementos was kept on display. Two-high caliber gun turrets were mounted to the hull to defend the airship.

As the ship broke away from the docks, none of the police seemed able to follow quickly. As they left Battleship Bay behind, it seemed the group had a moment to rest and determine their next course of action.

"Thank you, everyone, for at least limiting casualties," Billy said. He slumped down in one of the airship's seats.

"I will not go back to that tower," Elliot said, looking at Billy. "I refuse. You will have to kill me first."

"We're trying to save you," Billy responded, but he was feeling incredibly tired.

Elliot did not like that response. He rounded on Nathan and Emily. "You two! How did you know my name?!"

Nathan raised a brow at the situation that just unfolded, staring blankly at the crashed train; his attention soon turned towards Elliot who in an annoyed voice spoke to him.

"Because I know you dipshit," he said flatly, not having the mental capacity to break down everything and deal with this.

Nathan stepped towards Elliot, he was slightly shorter than the other man- but made sure their eyes met, before turning away from him; crossing his arms.

"How?" Elliot asked, though he seemed to realize it was not as simple an answer as he'd hoped. He glared at Nathan as he looked away, finding the small action slightly familiar. He too crossed his arms, gazing toward Bridgette and feeling sorry for her.

Billy looked around at the group. "Our actions might be causing too many ripples too soon," he said. "If the loop resets without at least this guy realizing this isn't real, we lose." He nodded to Elliot, who turned on him with a confused look.

"You're talking nonsense," Elliot said. "All of you are."

Billy met his gaze and stared at him intensely.

"I think you already feel that something is off. I don't what we can do to make you realize, but maybe if you stay close to me long enough, it'll come to you."

Elliot stared back evenly. Something in what Billy said resonated with him, but he stayed silent.

"Can you believe this isn't even my first airship hijacking?" Touma only sighed in exasperation as they were finally able to make their great escape (no thanks to Spike), but even though the heat was off, the question remained. Where to go and what to do next? There definitely seemed to be some significance to the mission, and Touma would be lying if he said he wasn't in some part aware of Elliot's connection to it all, remembering his name and face from the AI back on the Star Forge, but the deeper details were presently lost on him.

While he let the others deal with Elliot, some of them seeming to more intimately recognize him, Touma stood by Billy's side, awkwardly trying to get a word in between the bantering with Elliot. "So? What's the plan? That Demiurge got any more useful hints for us? I can see the breadcrumbs here, but not exactly where they're leading," he breathed, crossing his arms for the moment.

Emily had been gripping what she had thought to be a steering wheel at the time, but it turned out to be a lever. Fortunately, after calming herself and taking a good look at the controls, she soon realized it was fairly easy to get going.

Once the airship was on the move, she too sighed in relief, even flinching a little at Elliot's fairly justifiable anger. She hadn't expected things to deteriorate so quickly either. However, at least she could take comfort in knowing they managed to prevent the worst of the collateral damage.

"We met once before. But I admit, you were different back then." She said.

There was a pause as she gathered her thoughts, remembering that she mentioned she would explain once they were in relative safety, then continued.

"The place we're in right now. It's like a prison tailored to you. Our goal was to free you."

Emily frowned, realizing her explanation was a little off, thought about how Billy's words resonated with Elliot, then tried again, this time invoking memories from their last encounter.

"Please... Try to remember. The dance you and Nathan shared. Our talk, about power, and my stone. And-..."

She cut herself off for a moment, realizing going further into detail might invoke some nasty memories. But then, she smiled, remembering something a little more bittersweet.

"The sacrifice you made. When you saved Nathan."

She added.​

 

[Crunch]

Giorno let out a heavy sigh of relief, taking a cautious step away from the controls once it was clear that the thing was moving on its own. He didn't like that the airship was carrying them to god-knows-where, but one could not be picky at the moment. Taking a moment to compose himself now that the chaos has subsided, Giorno turned towards Elliot and waded through the tight-packed cabin.

"Elliot, right? What my friend here says is correct, we're trying to save you. We're trying to save many things, and that includes you. We hadn't intended for our initial meeting to be so hostile, but, we're all on edge. I don't think that matters."

"My name is Giorno Giovanna. I... well, all of us, actually... come from other worlds. Other universes, I mean. You probably think we all look strange or out-of-place, and you'd be correct. How or why other universes exist than this one is something I don't really care about, but what does matter is that those universes have been demolished. It's a long story, but, something happened... that resulted in the entire multiverse being thrown out of order."

"You were there. Or, at least, you played a part in all of it. When it happened, from what I understand, it resulted in you and likely many other people being forced back into a 'loop'. A fake, superficial reality designed to keep you here, I think. Nothing here is 'real' - nothing except for you and me and everyone in this ship."

Giorno paused for a moment, his gaze suddenly sharpening with unbridled intent. "You probably think I'm talking bullshit. Unfortunately, you don't have much of a choice but to believe it. Much more is at stake than you can even possibly realize, and the sooner you figure out that this is all a fabrication meant to keep the rest of us down, the sooner we can fix what has been done to our homes."

"I already told him he died, or we thought he was dead; what more should I say?" He responded, his jaw tightening in annoyance.

He looked at Elliot, his eyes were just as piercing as they were in the past, but less darkened and cold.

As the group found themselves on the airship, Azura admittedly couldn't bring herself to relax. Even after all the time she spent on Avalon where things were relatively peaceful she couldn't completely relax.

Sighing, she rubbed her temples as she listened to a few of their group bickering with Elliot. Luckily, things settled down as a few others tried to wake Elliot up from the loop's influence.

" If it'll jog his memory, then whatever else you think will help." Azura spoke up in response to Nathan.

Billy sighed and buried his face in his hands. "I think at this point, we just need to keep Elliot close and stay alive."

"Hold on a minute," Cullen asked. He shrugged his shoulders and pointed squarely at Nathan. "Who's this bloke supposed to be?"

Billy raised his head and blinked at him, before turning to Nathan. "Oh." He stared for a moment. "He wasn't originally with us, was he? Well... I can confirm he's not from this world. I think maybe... my magic just missed him at first." He stood up and placed a comforting hand on Nathan's shoulder. "I'm so sorry. What Giorno is saying is the truth. Your world is gone and all of us are gathered now to try and reverse that." He looked to Elliot. "You need to listen to this too."

"This is ridiculous," Elliot said flatly, both to Emily and Giorno. "I do not... I do not remember anything you're telling me. And I..."

"What is real or not real is hard to determine," Billy said. "But regardless, the circumstances of this current reality are superficial."

Elliot took this in, giving Nathan a curious glance. These people seemed entirely earnest and a few of them did go out of their way to make sure no one got hurt at the docks.

"... I know other realities exist," Elliot said. "I can open tears that act sort of like... windows into them. You've all seen that already. And you are right about this being a prison... Columbia has been a prison all my life." He sighed and leaned back against the wall. "All I want to do is leave this city. Explore some of the greatest places on Earth... like Paris."

Giorno had no reaction beyond listening. Suppose that is what anyone should do when trying to console a panicked, confused person. Listening to Elliot's plight reminded him a little of his own wanderlust. Wanting to see the world. Break the chains binding you to one place. Curious how the sentiment is the same, across different realities.

His voice took on more of a sympathetic tone, turning as if he was speaking to both Nathan and Elliot.

"We can't force you to remember something or comprehend everything that is going on. It's all pretty bizarre, I imagine. All we can do is ask that you trust us. Trust me. We may have gotten off on the wrong foot, and I can't speak for everyone, but I know that my intentions are just.

"We will all see the end of this path together."

The very same words he said to Touma not too long ago - how useless it was to repeat himself, but for once, they were words worth repeating. Giorno began to turn away to monitor the auto-pilot, not before casting a sideways glance back at the two boys.

"It's just... the 'prison' is much larger than you think. And we're not done escaping it."

Elliot still was not exactly happy with these people but he smiled at Jianyu's comment.

Bridgette began to stir slightly, finally beginning to wake up.

"Oh, Ms. DeWitt!" Elliot exclaimed, kneeling down to look at her. "Is she okay?"

Nathan let out a deep sigh as Billy spoke, moving out of his touch.

"This again..." he seethed, this was no dream. That shit that happened 5 years ago was real and he's dealing with it again.

He dug a nail into his wrist, before wincing.

Definitely real.
