You answered your own question. I don't want to sound rude but: You know what you are doing wrong, you are looking at the whole thing the wrong way and yet don't change it. If you want to achieve something you have to work for it, hard.

It's the opposite for me, even though I only drew animals/dragons as a child, when I liked anime I switched to humans, now that I am not in the anime fandom anymore, I still kind of stick to humanoids, but am changing my style to a more semi-realistic one. I can draw animals/non-humanoid...

Yeah, people tell me that quite often, so I guess proportions are kind of my jam. For that I am not good at adding detail or texture, I just somehow can't do it haha.
