Thought of the Day: "Turning the weapons of the enemy against him is, of course, of grave danger to one’s soul. It is nonetheless a satisfying thing to see."

The rotating crimson light pushed back the darkness but briefly from it's perch upon the wall. The lambent blade washed over the narrow corridor, exposing every rusted pipe and steaming vent with a sanguine hue. The putrid claws of vermin were inaudible over the serpent-like hiss of steam. Long had this section of the Hive City Berlius been forgotten to the ruin of time. A decaying way station that served some purpose in the past, long purged from her denizens memories. It was precisely this seclusion that gave the substation its merits. It was free from prying eyes and the traffic of the Hiver scum that chocked Berlius walkways, like a constricting plaque in an artery. It why it had been chosen so long ago for its renewed and much greater purpose.

Vermin scattered to the wind at the sound of the encroaching steps, hard boots against the ferrocrette flooring echoed loudly through the corridor. They retreated to their hiding spots, their unwillingness to be consumed apparent as they skittered into the pipes and vents, watchful of the woman who strode the lonely halls. "Throne." She spat venomously to herself as she pulled her great coat tighter about her neck to protect her porcelain skin from dripping condensation. The servos in her prosthetic arm whined loudly as metallic fingers scrunched the coats collar tightly together. Such a vile putrid place. Her thoughts turned to the morbid atmosphere as she continued her trudge. It seemed impossible to think that what her Master was after resided in such a place. But it was not her place to question the motives of her Master. His machination could bring about the rebirth of the Imperium of Man... Bring about order to the galaxy. And that prospect alone was enough to soil her hands in the dredges of Berlius's underbelly. But it didn't mean she had to like it.

It was at the end of the corridor that she stopped, her progress impeded by a blast door. She waited momentarily, studying the barrier in silence as she waited. And waited. A minute seemed to drag out into an eternity and her patience had begun to wear thin. They were watching her, she knew it, could feel it. But why they made no move to welcome her eluded her. They knew she was coming. It was with great ire that she opened the the left side of her jacket to reveal the emblazoned golden badge of her office as well as the Inferno Pistol that rested on her hip. "Inquisitor Lucia Priscus." She nearly growled as the Inquisitorial "I" hung suspended around her neck, resting against her armored chest. "Open. Now." Raw authority almost seemed to will the door open. Rusted cogs popped groaned as the door slid aside slowly. Without another word she stepped out of the putrefaction of the under works and into the sterile and clean corridors of the unknown.

The door ground closed behind her as Lucia's hands fluttered through her short auburn hair in an attempt to rid herself of the filth that clung to her. Her harsh green eyes traced the clean corridors that now lay before her. It was a far cry from the ruinous corridors that she had trudged through to get to this moment in time. At least the filth has passed. The thought did little to lighten her mood however as a pair of Inquisitorial Scion Tempestus strode up to meet her. "Inquisitor Priscus, Inquisitor Saurius has instructed you come with us. He will receive you in his study." The mans voice was scratchy through his emotional face mask but devoid of fear when addressing the newly arrived Inquisitor. And why would he show fear? He works for a bigger fish. As irritated as Lucia was at the situation, asserting her position on the two far better trained killers would do nothing to further her goals her. So instead she bit back her venomous tongue and followed.

Ill finish that up later, I have to be up early tomorrow. So on to the meat and potatoes.
As this is strictly narrative based, I don't see the need to make character creation a painful tedious process. Just enough to get a feel for each others characters.

Character Template:

Name:
Age:
Chapter: What Chapter does your character originate from? If you're creating your own include a brief history, how they perform doctrinally, what campaigns they've participated in ect ect.
Ocupation: What did your Character do in his Chapter? IE, Sternguard, Apothecary, Assault, Devastator ect ect

Wargear: All Deathwatch members will be equipped with a Stalker Pattern Bolt Gun, Bolt Pistol, Close Combat Weapon as well as Frag and Krak Grenades. However, these weapons may be swapped out for heavier weapons such as a Heavy Bolter or Melta Gun or any Chapter Specific Gear. Just use common sense.

Chapter Specific Gear: Its customary for a Deathwatch member to be gifted a relic or weapon from his Parent Chapter to carry into battle. What was your character gifted with? Just be reasonable.

Personality: What makes the character tick?

History: Doesn't have to be a one thousand word essay, just a brief summary.

Feel free to create your own. Not like the Administratium is capable (or competent enough) to keep track of every Chapter.

Name: Vallus Voss

Age: 253

Chapter: Iron Guard. . Created during the 23rd Founding, the Iron Guard was made to counter an Ork Waaagh!!, Waaagh!! Gretkz, invading the Hive World of Maziah II and the Forge World of Maziah Prime. Their colors are normally green with grey pauldrons, and their chapter icon is an axe slamming into a anvil. Decedents of the Imperial Fists, the Iron Guard have grown accustom to using an aggressive ranged combat doctrine, with Devastator Marines and Whirlwinds raining down ranged fire while the chapter's Dreadnoughts and Predator Tanks carve a path through the enemy's front lines and Assault Marines break enemy flanks allowing for the Tactical marines to come in and surround the enemy forces.

Major campaigns the Chapter has participated in, the Defense of Maziah, the very campaign the Chapter was formed to counter, the Siege of Thal, a world that had rebelled and joined the Tau empire, and the Battle of Agn, an Agri-World that had been invaded by a major Ork Waaagh!! and is currently engaged in a decade long conflict against a Chaos Warband known as the Iron Betrayers, and a new Ork Waaagh!! known as Waaagh!! Skrap Munchaz!!

During the Defense of Maziah, the Chapter had underestimated the Waaagh!!'s Warboss and lost around 320 brothers and were pushed back to their fortress monastery. They were relieved by the planet's Imperial Guard Regiment, the 13th Maziah Hammerers and the two pushed back the Ork Waaagh!!, slaying the Warboss and claiming victory for the Imperium. During that time the two forces had grown a mutual respect for one another and needing men to rebuild their fores, the Chapter Master and the Regiment's Regimental Commander made preparations to allow the Iron Guard began recruiting from the Hammerers, as the Iron Guard had grown to respect the Guardsmen's fighting prowess bravery in the face of uncountable foes. This tradition has went on until the present day, with now most of the Iron Guard being made up of ex-Hammerers. On completing the journey of becoming a Brother, the Marine is presented with an engraved Power Axe with the Hammer's motto on one side of the blade, and the Chapter warcry on the other, so that he will never forget his humble beginnings.

Occupation: Sternguard Veteran

Wargear: Master-crafted Storm Bolter, Bolt Pistol, Engraved Power Axe, Frag Grenades, Krak Grenades

Chapter Specific Gear:

-Engraved Power Axe: A single bladed Power Axe. On one side of the blade is the 13th Maziah Hammerer's motto, 'Hammers upon the Anvil' and on the other is the Chapter's Warcry 'Courage Above all Else.'

-Master-Crafted Storm Bolter: A Master-Crafted Storm Bolter, given only to the Chapter's Sternguard Veterans upon promotion.

Personality: Vallus is rather blunt and to the point. He does not make time to joke or make banter, and focuses on nothing more then the task at hand. His Chapter has also instilled within him a reluctance to retreat or regroup, as the Chapter in general would rather stand and die then retreat and lose an objective.

History: Vallus was a Storm Trooper for the 87th Maziah Hammerers. He was granted the privilege of being one of the 100 potential recruits taken from the Hammerers for the opportunity to become a space marine. He passed 15 out of 18 of the Chapter's test and was taken in as one of the 10 recruits taking in for genetic screening and was one out of the 4 recruits who survived long enough to become a full Battle Brother. During the Battle of Agn, Vallus had proven himself worthy of becoming a Sternguard when he alone held the line against an Ork Charge with nothing more then a Heavy Bolter and a handful of grenades. After the campaign the Iron Guard had been asked to send in a marine to join the Death Watch, and the Chapter sent Vallus as the experience will be good for the new Sternguard.

(Brother Sergeant Caine during the Badab War, 906.M41)

Name: Marcus Caine

Age: 347

Chapter: Raptors

Profession: Apothecary

Wargear: "Benignitas Ira" Master Crafted Bolt Pistol, Power Sword, Narthecium, Frag and Krak Grenades

Chapter Specific Gear "Benignitas Ira": A Master Crafted Bolt Pistol gifted to The Raptors from their Progenitor Chapter; The Raven Guard. The unornamented weapon boasts a barrel twice as long as a standard Bolt Pistol giving it considerably more range than a standard pistol. It also has a modified select fire giving it the ability to deliver fully automatic fire if the user so chooses. An integrated and sophisticated optics suite only helps to aid an already impressive Marksman deliver pinpoint fires to anything caught in it's cross hairs.

Personality: A stoic and pragmatic individual, Apothecary Marcus Caine has seen his share of war. Marcus, much like his Home Chapter differ almost radically from many of the Adeptus Astartes Company's that fight in the name of the Imperium. Favoring hit and run tactics, guerrilla warfare and precision strikes, he abhors the combat doctrines of many of his fellow Astartes. Pride and glory mean little to Marcus Caine, only efficiency, logic and the well-being of those entrusted to him truly matter.

Quiet, observant and reserved, Marcus is not as boastful or egotistical as many of his counterparts. And while he tries to approach every situation with a rational mind, it's when one of his fellow battle brothers is wounded that caution is thrown to the wind. To save one of his own he will do what ever is necessary to get his fallen comrades to cover and begin treatment. Marcus Caine stands ready to do what is necessary to preserve his fellow Marines, even if that means giving his own life.

History: Much of Marcus Caine's earlier years are as well known as the location The Raptors home world. As with all Raptors, Marcus refuses to speak of his Chapters home planet and subsequently his past. The only thing that he will readily reveal is that he was recruited from amongst the planets populace but any attempts at further inquiry is met with a stony silence.

During his time as a Scout Marcus took part in a multitude of smaller operations. Operating well ahead of friendly lines it was during this time that he, like all the Brothers in his Chapter, mastered the art of camouflage and guerilla warfare. Acting as a Pathfinder by marking LZs and disrupting supply routes where several of the tasks that he partook in that helped shape the larger operations.

It wasn't until the Sulsalid Campaign that he truly partook in full scale warfare. Having been promoted to Devastator in the subsequent years Marcus now found himself on the front lines of the conflict. Fighting along side The Astra Militarium, Brother Caine fought tenaciously, engaging enemy armor with the precision that The Raptors are revered for. During the Militarium's fighting retreat, his company supplemented the beleaguered Guardsmen. The Raptors smashed armored columns that assaulted their ever shifting positions and gun downed advancing infantry with inhuman precision, even for an Astartes while The Guardsmen pulled back and covered their flanks. And while Marcus's Company was not the decisive force to end the rebellion, their company was distinguished for their valor in the face of an overwhelming enemy.

It wouldn't be until the Badab War that Marcus Caine engaged in another full scale war. Having been promoted to Tactical Sergeant, Brother Sergeant Caine led his men valiantly against the traitorous forces of Chaos. The steel resolve of the Raptors was tested as they clashed against the former brothers, engaging in a long campaign of feints and counter attacks. They isolated the Traitor Legions systematically, picking their engagements carefully, utterly crushing the maddened with superior tactics and maneuver. Brother Sergeant Caine found his squad in the thick of the fighting time and time again and though many brothers fell to enemy fires, Marcus Caine never failed to accomplish his mission.

During the Badab War Brother Sergeant Caine distinguished himself from his peers and after the war was given the high honor of becoming the Company Apothecary. He was pulled from the line to be given the medical training required to fulfill his new obligation. For nearly ten years he spent training on the anatomy and physiology of The Adeptus Astartes. He learned advanced medicinal and surgical procedures that would save the life of his brothers in the field. And while at first he resented being pulled from his men, he soon came to understand the gravity of his new position. Marcus Caine would be charged with the welfare of his entire Company, a responsibility he soon came to fully appreciate. The position of Apothecary was one of the most respected and highest honored roles within the Company, and Apothecary Caine would be damned if he failed his Chapter.

Though Caine's skills would be tested over the coming years it wouldn't be until The Raptors involvement in the Taros Campaign that his medical knowledge would be put to the ultimate test.

When the Tau invaded Taro, The Raptors where among those who answered the call at The Inquisitions behest. Relying on mechanized warfare, Marcus's company along with the Cadian 114th Shock Trooper Regiment, the Astartes moved quickly to reinforce the dwindling defenders of Taros. The Raptors prowess for unconventional warfare was tested sorely as they had difficulty keeping pace with the much more mobile and agile Tau, who went out of their way to avoid the Chapter when possible.

In the end, there was little they could do. With two Imperial Regiments obliterated, the Imperium declared the world lost and began the chaotic process of recalling all units. The process was pure madness made worse by an infuriated enemy quickly encircling the retreating forces. As the Militarium and fellow Astartes evacuated the lost world, it was the Raptors who remained, holding the perimeter so that their comrades might escape. The casualties where high, and Apothecary Caine struggled to keep up with the mounting wounded. He patched up those who could still fight and sent them back to the front and offered the Emperors Mercy to those whom he could not save. In the end The Chapter held firm until all the Imperiums Forces had withdrawn. Only then did the Raptors secure their own escape.

With the planet lost and a serious blow dealt to the Chapter's credibility in the eyes of the Inquisition, The Raptors did everything in their power to maintain their relationship with the organization. In response to their failure at Taros, The Raptors offered twenty of their finest warriors to the Inquisition so they might serve them in the Deathwatch directly. Apothecary Marcus Caine was among those selected.

Age: 331
Chapter: Black Fires.
The Black Fires Chapter likens war to a flame, powerful, useful and necessary for life, yet incredibly harmful when wielded incautiously, and so prefer to use force sparingly and surgically, leading to a doctrine that endorses intelligence, subtlety and the use of pinpoint strikes. They do their best to minimize losses to civilian life and infrastructure, and so prefer precision weaponry to weapons that can cause collateral damage. As a successor Chapter to the Salamanders, they they are beholden to their progenitors' gene-seed flaws: darkened skin and glowing red eyes. Though they idealize the virtues of the Promethean Cult: self-reliance, self-sacrifice and loyalty, they reject it's symbolic bias towards 'unnecessarily destructive' weaponry, such as flamers. They tend disregard the Codex Astartes in the field, but follow some of its teachings for logistical purposes.

The Chapter is known well for it's suppression of the Crucian Rebellion. Sub-Sector Crusius rose up in in rebellion against the Imperium and the Black Fires dispatched four companies to stifle their treason. The Black Fires managed to wage a guerilla campaign against the traitors and even fostered counter-resistance groups, crippling the rebels' ability to mobilize or arm their forces long enough for an Imperial Strike Force to arrive and crush the Rebellion, costing the Imperium one tenth the projected manpower required to retake the Sub-Sector and vastly reducing the number of expected civilian losses, bringing the Sub-Sector back to it's pre-rebellion production quotas in a scant few decades.

Their armor is painted in dark red-brown and their pauldrons are red-orange with a Pitch-black flame as the chapter symbol.

Ocupation: Scout/Tactical Marine

Wargear:

Scout Loadout:
Mark IX Ultra pattern Sniper Rifle
“The Lesson of Xenocide”
Astartes Pattern Combat Knife
Scout Carapace Armor
Frag and Krak Grenades
Bolt Pistol

Tactical Marine Loadout:
Stalker Pattern Bolter
“The Lesson of Xenocide”
Chainsword
Power Armor
Frag and Krak Grenades
Bolt Pistol

Chapter Specific Gear:
“The Lesson of Xenocide” is a Master-Crafted Astartes Pattern Assault Shotgun, originally crafted by the Salamanders and gifted to the Black Fires after their first victory. It can fire a wide variety of munitions, from standard shotgun rounds and slugs to modified grenade rounds. It's inscribed with excerpts from Chaplain Khyber's speech before extinguishing a now-dead alien race, the event from which the weapon is named. “Let us Educate the Alien as to the meaning of Hate.”

Personality: Despite his fearsome appearance, Merax is quite personable for an Astartes. He treats all he meets with respect unless they do something to lose it. He is soft spoken and prefers to observe before speaking or acting. His years with the Inquisition have fostered a deep respect for the organization. He is rather devout, and in his downtime can regularly be found in prayer whenever he is not reading. He enjoys learning about his foes and how they operate, but also appreciates philosophy.

History: Merax is unique among many of his brothers in that he was not recruited from the Chapter's Home Planet of Incendion. He and several others were recruited from the Feudal world of Kaul when a Black Fires Strike Cruiser was stranded there by warp storms. When the storm finally passed, he and the others from Kaul were met with some suspicion, and concerned with possible chaotic taint from the warp storm, they were handed over to the Inquisition for testing. Merax and his Battle Brothers from Kaul served in several Inquisitorial operations while being monitored for signs of corruption.

He served with the Inquisition for a few decades before finally being declared free of corruption and released back to his chapter. He lent his experience in unconventional warfare and rose in rank to Scout Sergeant. When the Deathwatch called for recruits, Merax was quick to offer his name, eager to work with the Inquisition again.

I was hoping for all parties to have been finished by now. Once everyone who wanted to participate is ready we begin.

And if you all have lost interest, please make it known.
