Darkness. Absolute limitless and boundless darkness. It engulfs you so thoroughly so completely that it is possible you wonder if light had ever existed, could ever exist, there is not even a frame of reference for how dark it is. Your mind should be reeling from the implication. From the depthless shadows with no limitation. Perhaps you scream, simply to hear your own voice. Perhaps because despite the absence of light and sound you can't even hear your own heartbeat. You should be able to hear your own heartbeat in the absence of other sound, you know you heard or read that somewhere once.

But you hear nothing. Soon the light changes. How it changes you can't explain, your senses have no frame of reference to base such a thing off of, and yet, walking towards you on nothingness is a being in a suit, a literal suit, gazing towards the face, though you cannot say what, if anything illuminates them for nothing else is illuminated or visible, even your own form, and yet, the being is faceless, no that isn't true, it has faces, but it can't settle on one, changing from face to face with monotonous pace, not settling long enough to gauge features, you swear you saw Morgan Freeman one second, and Nicole Kidman a moment later before you realise it thousands of faces have crossed your senses, but one thing remains absolutely still about the figure, even the suit changed subtly as you watched. But where the eyes should be is the same depthless darkness of this place, no light from the form even comes close to leaking into that absolute night of the eyes.

"Welcome to the Novus." The voice, like the faces, simply was not sustained in any one voice or tone. It occurs to you after a moment that you aren't even hearing a voice, for the mouth never moves. Simply a psychic impression of a voice on your consciousness. "Welcome Electi to the Novus."

The being moves. You know they moved. And yet, there was no motion to the sense you've ascribed to as sight. "No, you're not seeing. Simply aware. The most basic sense availiable to the filius dei, the child gods of the novus, for that is what you are." The being moved once more. You know it, but again, can't perceive it. The lack of frame of reference does not help whatsoever.

"We know of the world you once inhabited. Earth. Terra. A world of such limited perceptions. We selected you, and a number of others for ascension to become deities of the Novus." It holds up a hand, always held up a hand? It's impossible to say, which is unsurprising as you are in an impossible place.

"There are rules you see. You are a creator. One of many we have chosen, though not all may be found on the world you will begin forging with others, you'll meet them in time, as your world forms beneath you. But there are limits, and the are strong."

It sits, on what it's impossible to say. The faceless m... no you can't even call it a man. It lacks anything that could be called gender or sex. The word 'it' truly is the only one that can apply to it.

"The simpler something is the more you can create at once. And you will learn your creationist craft as you go, mistakes can and will be made, that is expected of all electi from all planes, to create an open plain is, as it were, a simple act. With a will you could create a kilometre square stretch of flat land needing nothing but a wave of your hand, including metals and hills would tax you more greatly."

"Life is the most complex of all things. You will fail more than you succeed and it may take a long time to perfect life. A blade of grass is simple. An insect is hard, an animal is taxing, a sapient life may take you centuries to perfect. Though once you know how. You can create many. But." It smiles. A smile that is disturbing to behold with nothing kind or complacent about it. "You may only create as many of a creature as it takes for such life to become stable and able to sustain itself without you creating more."

"Also, you cannot act directly against another god or their creations. You cannot unmake anything another god has created. You may empower your own creations with the tools such as magic, though you cannot direct them to create machines, technology or even simple craftsmanship, those are talents they must learn. Eventually, you may even choose to empower an avatar, but beware for such power surrendered to create it may not return to your fold."

The smile goes away.

"You will also have a 'guide' a consciousness apart from your own, intangible, in truth, by terms you understand it does not and cannot exist. This consciousness will be patterned off of someone you considered a strong influence in your life. If you revered your father, then your father will it be. But the guide will not be of you, it will be of the Novus, and like I, serves its will. It's guidance may seem fickle and manipulative at times. Cruel and calculating at others. And comforting in as many moments as there are raindrops in an infinite universe."

The being stands. A flicker of light separates, you know only you can see it. You can sense your mentor-guide in it already. "And be aware electi. The Novus is a place that has it's own dangers, an immune system if you will. While you must beware of other gods and their interests, and as things continue of other worlds. Remember, the darkness is not an old friend. It resents your presence and will, in time, seek to unmake everything you've worked for."

It smiled again and the darkness this time almost seemed to spill from the beings mouth.

"I would suggest a prayer, but you are a god here now. If you wish to pray, you must find a way to answer it yourself. You are but a filius Dei, as you use your power it will grow, your creations will in time dictate the final limits of your power. At the moment you are 'confined' to the world you will begin to create with others. But perhaps there are stars in your future." The being stood up and closed it's eyes.

A moment later a blinding light almost blinded you, but in the same moment you realised you were safe. But in the depthless darkness you saw it. A spark of life. A star burning far from where you stood. "A world and life need light. The Novus provides the first sparks. The rest... the rest is up to you."

Ok ladies and gents. TLDR.

You are gods in a lightless universe. Taken from earth by the Adjudicator it has chosen you, the Electi, the Filius Dei to create this new universe, the Novus. Perhaps it's a Self-Insert where you yourself were taken. Perhaps it's a modern-world character (which fictionally lived on our world.)

And yet. There are rules.

1: Simple things are created much more easily than complex things. It may take you a handwave to create a square kilometre of open plains (a little longer if you want grass on it.) It may take you centuries to create a human being. (Or Orc, or Elf, creation is in your hands.)
2: You cannot directly (unmaking their stuff), or indirectly (like try and cause an earthquake at the edge of your lands), effect another gods creations. You cannot unmake their things. You cannot create things within their lands. But things you create may in time cross into and effect other gods creations.
3: You cannot teach, or even try to teach any sapient creations any technology. They have to work it out for themselves. Though you can influence them in other ways. They can interact with you, speak to you, be given direction by you. Just not in a technical manner.
4: You can empower a percentage of your creations with magic. But their magic comes at a direct cost to your own. The more you empower, the less you have.
5: Your 'guide' may offer ideas, suggestions, or most importantly, warnings. You do not have to listen to or acknowledge your guide. But not listening can have severe consequences. The Darkness isn't happy about you. He's definitely not your old friend and when it manifests it's manifesting explicitly to uncreate your stuff. And your stuff is a major source of your power. If it succeeds in unmaking everything you've made. You die. (In 'mechanical' terms such would be the fate of people who go inactive and stop posting, thus allowing new players into the fold :p)

Plagiary of a plagiary of a plagiarized plagiary.
Sounds nice. Maybe this time I won't get kicked.
Count me in.

Unfortunately it's being temporarily retired. (I hope temporarily) as I've scored some work, and barely have time to take a piss before dinner and bed at the moment.... :p
