I'm sorry (Poem)

Gypsy

Gratitude, integrity, and compassion.
I've hated you
I've hated you for longer then I can remember
I've called you worthless
ugly
fat
I've teased and tormented
belittled and threatened
I've locked you out
and refused to see any value in you
I've been your harshest judge
Your jury
and your jailor
I've denied you
starved you
I've wished you were dead
I've shown little compassion
little acceptance
always looking for flaws
my enemy
I've feared you
the power you have
Yet you haven't given up
You've done my bidding
relentlessly pushed on
survived
grown
strengthened
Is the poison that i injected
finally catching up?
Did you deserve to be treated
with so little respect?
The love we show others
the support and encouragement
forgiveness and joy
is too much for our selves?
