Chronicles of The Omniverse Archived Lutetia City: The Den

Desmond turned into Nazia as she closed on him, but the impact of her colliding with him took them both to the ground in a twisting ball of snapping jaws and raking claws.

Desmond had size and weight on his side though as he sought to bodily overpower Nazia to the ground where she would be at the mercy of his powerful jaws.

Meanwhile around the front of the building, Jacques was caught up in his own scuffle with Sasha. His fangs ravaged Sasha's arm but he remained exposed to her own retaliations.

His fur protected him from the brunt of her claws, but a particularly vicious rake of them down his face forced him back from her with a low growl.

Blood ran from the wound, partially blinding him in one eye as he faced off against Sasha, more than ready to tangle with her once more should she persist in the confrontation - but equally ready to let her turn tail and run if it meant he could reach those out back of the Den sooner rather than later.

He covered Chloe as she moved, though the others were quite occupied.

As Desmond and the she wolf went down in a whirl of claws and teeth, he squared himself some and took a solid shot at Michael. The sound of the firing shotgun continued to pound at his head as he ducked back down for cover behind his car.

Her eyes were locked upon Jacques and Sasha, still waiting for the opening she needed to plant a bullet into the Scion’s head. Sliding up to her feet, albeit shakily, the teenager slowly circled around to get a better shot, knowing that at any given moment, the half-shifted bitch could really rip into her father’s side. Wiping blood away from her eyes again, she snarled angrily, wanting revenge. From the sounds coming from the back, they needed to wrap this up to help out whoever had was back there, but Sasha was appearing to be a pain in the butt.

When her father was also clawed across his face, she found her beast racing forward, though she did manage to keep it at bay. Raising up the gun, she caught Sasha in its crosshairs and due to her current position, knew that she had a chance to fire as long as he didn’t charge again. Biting on her bottom lip, she took in a deep breath to relax herself and as she breathed out, fired off a shot at Sasha, her intention was to nail the bitch in the face.

Thankfully for Sasha, her fight or flight instinct had quickly settled on the latter before Aimee had a chance to fire her shot. As it was, the bullet shot past her ear as she was turning to sprint towards her packmates' location. She snarled in anger at being forced to retreat, but she didn't fancy her chances against two foes at the same time, even if one of them was only a child. Her now fully-shifted lower half granted her a swift dash away and hopefully would keep the girl from planting too many bullets in her back with her speed.

In the meantime, Michael was forced to drop back down behind the car by Brendan's shot, cursing angrily. "Perhaps it would be wise for us to swallow our pride and recognise a battle lost," he remarked, likely more to himself than his shifted companion given her being occupied with Desmond. "We're outnumbered and outgunned. Time for an exit, I think!"

He yelled the last words to try and alert Nazia, but he knew that disengaging from the larger wolf would be a problem for her. Unfortunately, there wasn't much he could do while they were still so entangled without being as likely to shoot her as the larger wolf. He had to wait for a shot, if one came.

Nazia was quick, but speed did not help when she was this close. She struggled to wriggle and would occasionally get out from under Desmond, only to be be pulled back or squished underneath the bulk of the wolf and she was back to struggling again. There was no escaping and she was tiring quickly. Desmond was ending up on top more often, and it would be soon that she couldn't fight him any more.

Chloe finally pulled herself to the roof, she crossed over the roof of one building, getting a running jump to cross to the next. She made it, barely and she struggled to find her balance. Her eyes were glowing bright in the night. Not right now, not right now, not right now.. She kept thinking to herself, pulling the gun from its holster once again.

Desmond clearly had the upper hand with Nazia as he wrestled her down to the ground jaws snapping as he tried to pin her with a vice grip on her throat. Their fur had largely protected the both of them from any serious damage thus far, but the pavement was spattered with specks of blood.

Meanwhile around the front of the building, Jacques was on Sasha's heels as she made a run for the back of the building to rejoin her pack mates.

Spying an opportunity, Michael poked out from cover and leveled his shotgun at Desmond, pulling the trigger to unload several shots into the massive wolf while Nazia was out of the way on the ground. The large wolf's bulk also served to make it hard for the other Bloodstone by the car to get a shot off at him without risking hitting his packmate, but Desmond was quick to respond.

The first bullet struck him square in the shoulder, and he quickly abandoned his hold on Nazia as he moved to take cover behind the car opposite Michael. The second bullet caught him in the flank, while the third missed and struck the pavement as Desmond slipped from view.

A bead of sweat was running down Michael's forehead. His instincts were screaming at him to run, but fear of Rowan's wrath kept him from breaking and abandoning Nazia on the spot.

It was at that moment that Sasha tore around the corner, claws digging into the wall to swing herself around it. She took in the unfolding scene with bright amber eyes, inwardly cursing as she realised the Bloodstones from inside the bar had the upper hand.

"On your feet, Nazia!" she yelled, her voice guttural but still understandable despite her half-shifted muzzle. She turned to face her rear, ready to meet her pursuer to stop him from flanking her packmates. "There's more on my tail, we need-"

She was forced to cut off as Jacques rounded the corner after her and she turned her focus to fending him off. Hopefully the corner would prevent him from getting a good leap off.

Snarling when Sasha took off running, Aimee snapped into action and raced after her, vaguely noting that her father was doing the same. Moving to the side to keep firing at the Scion without worrying about hitting her father, the teenager unloaded the entire clip at the female. It was obvious however that her speed was no match for the female, especially since she had shifted, so she stopped firing and reloaded the gun before heading around the side of the building.

“Hnn…” Slowly and cautiously she crept around the corner and took stalk of the situation, spotting the other two Scion immediately. Her father was still on the ass of Sasha, though he was not scrapping with her at the moment and she wasn’t sure exactly the situation of her other packmates, but if she could help by taking out one of the threats, then she would gladly do so. Raising up the gun towards the other female Lycan, she took aim, knowing half of her body was exposed, but she wasn’t too worried about it at that moment. Without a single word, she fired the entire clip at the female that was climbing up off the ground, placing that gun in its holster before yanking out the second one, taking aim once again.

Nazia's flank was hit with the first bullet. She yelped loudly and immediately began to scramble for cover. Her shoulder and side were hit in the next few shots before she disappeared around the corner and continued to run.

Chloe was above Michael now. She had seen him hit Desmond with the shot gun. A guttural growl escaped her lips as she aimed her gun towards Michael's head and pulled the trigger.

Michael never saw the shot coming. He'd been so focused on Desmond's massive form he'd missed Chloe slipping onto the rooftop entirely. The bullet struck him in the side of the head and his neck snapped to the side with the impact as blood sprayed outwards. He dropped to the ground in a slump without so much as a cry of pain.

Sasha witnessed Michael drop out of the corner of her eye as she faced off against Jacques and Aimee at the building's corner. "Michael!" she yelled, "Shit, shit."

Nazia was already running, and Sasha knew that Michael's healing wasn't anywhere near potent enough for him to have survived that shot.

Spitting a curse, she broke off into a run for a second time, dashing after Nazia. Rowan would have their hides for this.

Brendan wasn’t one to revel in violence, but as Michael’s body fell to the ground, he straightened up with a darkly triumphant expression.

His chest rose and fell dramatically as he took in the fleeing Scions, he then examined the faces of each of his pack members. Aimee and Jacques looked worse for wear, but they’d live. His brother, too, despite the mess of blood; he knew he’d be good, he always was. And Chloe, well, today was definitely hers.

“That everyone?” he shouted after a pause. They needed to get to the medical center.

Smoke was escaping more vigorously from the Den, it was curling into the lot, smothering their victory.

Bastien could already see the fire and smoke up ahead as he slowed the van down and pulled over. Two figures came running around the back of the building, fleeing down the street in the opposite direction - one wolf, and one humanoid. A trio of abandoned motorbikes sat abandoned in the road.

He grabbed up the shotgun from the seat next to him and got out, but he made no move to pursue the two fleeing the scene. The Den was the greater concern.

"Cover me," he told Eliza as he made for the front door.

It was locked, but a slam of his shoulder splintered the wood in. The heat and the flames forced him back from the door though and he shielded his face as he tried to see if anyone was still inside.

"Desmond! Chloe!" he hollered.

As Bastian slid out of the car Eliza grabbed her rifle and jumped out, smoke was billowing out of the Den "Cover me" she had his back, as he ran for the door she followed several steps behind, scanning the street and rooftops with her rifle. Several feet from where he was she stood with her back againt the wall scanning, she could feel the blazing heat from the building. A drop of sweat fell from her brow and she watched what his next move would be, she'd follow him in if need be.

Desmond circled around the car he had used as cover, but he didn't move to chase after the two fleeing the scene. They already had wounded at hand, and one dead body. There was nothing to gain in stringing a chase out through the streets of Lutetia. He paused to snuffle at Michael's body though, checking that he was indeed, very dead.

Distantly he heard the shout of his name though and he lifted his head to scent the air. He couldn't smell much over the smoke of the burning building though.

Jacques too seemed satisfied with the retreat of the Scions and he began to shed his wolf form.

Despite hitting Nazia a couple of times, Aimee couldn’t help but growl in irritation. She was now completely out of bullets, which meant she couldn’t finish filling either female Scion full of holes. Shoving her gun into its holster, she held her wrist against her and hissed softly. Despite being out of bullets and down to one hand, she was still prepared to fight, but when the male who had complimented her eyes suddenly dropped to the ground, she couldn’t help but blink. Her body didn’t relax even when the other two took off running and instead of chasing after them, which would’ve been pointless, she leaned against the wall and once again wiped the blood out of her eyes.

“Fuck…” She was starting to feel woozy, all of her adrenaline exiting her lithe frame rapidly. Forcing herself to keep from passing out, she checked the others, glad that none of them had perished. What started out as a night to get booze had turned into a shitfest quickly and deep done she wasn’t even sure if she made a damn difference or made things worse for them. Sighing, she just remained where she was at, her gaze remaining away from her father, shame evident in her eyes.

Chloe lowered her gun and holstered it. She heard her name called, albeit faintly. There were only a few people who knew her name, and one of which she didn't want finding her out and about. "Oi," She called down. "You might wanna check the front. Someone's looking for us."

Brendan popped the trunk to his riddled car and looked to the dead body with a grimace. They couldn’t leave it for someone else to find. He started to move towards it, get it out of the way himself – but he stopped at Desmond’s start, followed by Chloe’s call.

As probably the one in the best state, he shouldered the shotgun and studied the scene briefly.

“Get the body in the back, start the car” he said, slamming down the keys on the roof of the car.

He then strode off, rounding the building, his senses strongly against being so close to the burning.

Brendan saw the van first; then Eliza. He held up his arms, rounding the corner and stepping out of the shadows. He jolted to a stop and a huge sigh escaped him at the sight of Bastien.

“No one in. Everyone good. Scion’s turned up. I… I tried ter’ stop it but there was no way. Some of us a bit bloodied, need the center.” He stared into the flames, outlined by the doorframe. “Nothin’ we could do…”

Bastien eased visibly as Brendan came into view, but he was still on edge.

"Get everyone in the van," Bastien said. "We got chewed up bad tonight. Nieve didn't make it, and Baron's..." he shook his head. "The cops are going to be crawling all over us tomorrow. We need to hurry."

Meanwhile out back Jacques had finished shifting. He stood up and took Aimee's chin in hand to turn her face enough to get a look at the injuries. There was anger in his eyes, but it was hard to say whether it was at the Scions for injuring her, or her for being so reckless and endangering the pack.

"Maybe the scars will serve as a reminder of why you fucking listen when the pack says go to ground," he growled. "What the fuck where you doing here?"

Eliza pointed her rifle at the person in the shadows, he came out with his hands up then dropped them. Looking to Bastien she saw he had relaxed and so she dropped the barrel of her rifle before slinging it over her shoulder. The smell of smoke filled the air and began to bother her, she began walking toward the van as Bastien ordered.

Her body tensed up as Jacques neared her location. Her chest felt like someone had shoved her in a vice and was tightening it up, but she made no attempt to move away. Instead, she let him turn her face to look at her face, which hurt like hell now that she was no longer all pumped up with adrenaline. Snarling lightly at his words, she jerked her chin out of his hands, her eyes narrowing angrily.

“I was coming to get some booze, dad. I figured I’d get some and then head back to my apartment to drink. It’s not like I knew Scions would be torching the damn Den. I’m not some helpless child, you know!” She shook her head, knowing that she wasn’t making a very good case for herself. Leaning back against the wall, she closed her eyes to keep the blood from entering them, her healing abilities probably one of the worst among the pack.

“I had a handle on it.” She snapped, spitting blood out of her mouth.
