Project Fairy Tail.
Ever since magic became more prominent in everyday life there has been an increasing number of Fossils/Bones discovered all around the world, having close resemblance to creatures of myth and folklore.
The first of these findings was in Mongolia, 50 years ago. An excavation crew discovered the petrified remains of several unidentified creatures, later it would be discovered that these Fossils resembled mythological monsters and Folklore. After weeks of testing these remains it was discovered that they had a strange genetic makeup that could be mixed with human DNA, this along with something that would be called the Chi wavelength but to most of the world, however, it would be referred as the mana wavelength. This wavelength was hypothesized to be connected to the very essence of the esoteric itself, to these creatures of myth, it would seem they were more in tune with the energies of the earth and possibly the cosmos. Though the latter is a big stretch. Through these studies it was soon found out that humans have this same wavelength though to a lesser degree, it is only recently that they had become aware of their magical abilities. Yet these creatures seemed to live and breathe magic. It was then decided by a group of high class scientists to harness the power of these ancients, fusing them together with human DNA.
Through the use of Volunteers Loyal to the Military, the future of possibilities would open up and the world would be forever changed. The first few days passed… Out of the 500 men and women that bravely answered the call of their country, only 100 survived the process, the strain and shock was too great for the 400 that lost their lives. While the wavelength of these creatures could be harmonized to the frequency of a humans wavelength and DNA, it became clear that there was little room for error messing up in this process can lead to death or worse. While the 100 participants later performed phenomenally well in both physical and magical abilities, about 30 of them started showing signs of mental illnesses that they did not have before, and while some were treatable others had to be institutionalized for theirs and everyone's safety. Yet the higher up saw results with those who were practically unscathed by the process so the experiments were to be continued and would remain highly secure.

It was not meant to be. SAC spies had infiltrated the Chinese laboratories that were in the process of creating more Fairy Folk, as they would soon to be called. Several of the Scientist that worked on the project were found dead in their homes the next day, and their research was stolen. This was considered a big game changer for SAC, their only way of using magic was to copy the abilities of others with the use of the arcane eye, now with this research, they could generate an army of super-soldiers wielding the power of Primal forces. Other Nations soon caught wind of these experiments, their own spies gathering intel on both SAC and the Chinese federation. Some Nations (The Confederacy, and PACT, excluding Japan) saw an opportunity to strengthen their ranks, others saw this as mad science. An abomination against nature. The North American Alliance, Britannia, The United European Union, forbade any and all genetic research on amalgamations… On the outside, there was, in fact, some arguing within on wither using these Fairy Folk as an elite fighting force, and even further was some shadow sections that would work behind the backs of their superiors started to become more prevalent with each year.
Yet the same song and dance was inevitable. The same problems the Chinese had with Splicing the SAC’s had. Deaths due to poor handling, Mental trauma from the radical change in the body, lack of volunteers willing to go through the process. Those who made it through the splicing had exceeded the expectations of the Military officials, but it was clear a solution was needed to this problem. And it came in the form of a man who’s name on whether you look at him is either infamous or famous, Nova Alexander; His origins even today remain dubious, yet some have said that he was conducting illegal genetic experiments in Brazil even before he became world-renowned. When he came in it was clear this man was ahead of his time, he introduced the idea of using Test-tube babies as a way to eliminate the risk to existing soldiers, it was a slower process to be sure but they could use the soldiers they created now as a way to make up for that and this was a way to make sure that these new super-soldiers were completely loyal to the government. The first few test-tube born Fairy Folk were a complete success the processing being easier, yet more expensive. The only problem being that it turns out the gene can become dormant in a child only being awakened when the body is subjected to an intense shock and emotional outburst, it wouldn’t be that big of a deal.
Nova’s biggest claim to fame, however, was ‘Project Chimera’ seeming to be an oxymoron considering the nature of Splicing and Fairy Folk. Yet this was no mere merging of myth and man, rather it was the mixing of man and two myths, a process that seemed nearly impossible to some. Yet Nova was able to beat the odds and create the first ‘Legend’ Damian. Accomplishing this feat in both technology and magical knowledge inspired others to try and create their own Legend. In the last 30 years, the population of Fairy Folk has grown to 25,000 around the world, yet the number of Legends created not counting Damian is around 5 possibly more due to dormant genes.

-The distribution of Fairy Folk and Legends in the world today is as followed.
SAC- 10,000 Fairy Folk. 2 Legends
PACT (Mostly India and Vietnam)- 2000 Fairy Folk.
Chinese Federation- 8000 Fairy Folk. 2 Legends
The Confederacy- 5000 (They are classified as FF but they are more abominations with Mythological twists.).
-The legends are the Super-soldiers to the Supersoldiers. All of them being high class A mages while Damian could be considered class S being the oldest.
-The weakness of an FF or Legend depends on what their gene donor was. For example, if you were to mix a human and vampire he/she would have the abilities of that vampire the strength, speed, reflexes, magic. But you would also gain some weaknesses, like weakness against sunlight or Divine magic, the sunlight would not kill them due to the human Gene but they would be more susceptible to Divine magic. With Legends you definitely have to choose wisely, If you mix a vampire and a demonic entity together their power would indeed rise to an insane level and even bypass the weakness to the sun, however, the vulnerability to Divine magic would be Doubled.
-Double splicing isn’t only extremely hard to do and requires the utmost focus and perseverance. But it's as expensive as all hell. One Fossil alone could cost in the upper Millions and rare Fossils are around a Billion dollars in whatever currency you can think of. Not only that but in order to get a quality Fossil, you would either A have to research different Fossil types and myths or B use black market ties to make sure what your getting isn’t chopped liver.
-FF are able to reproduce with other humans and even other FF (though they would either have to be the same species of spliced myth or be a close relative to that myth.) With Legends it's a bit more complicated, they can reproduce but only select kinds (Demons, Angels, Succubus, Incubus, Kitsune, Faery.) if any other Legend had the desire to raise children they would either have to adopt or use cloning.
-Legend has a name that is thrown around time to time ‘The legendary Patheon.’ No one knows where this term originated from but it stuck. This is despite some of the Legends not being familiar with each other besides those in their own Nation and being from different nationalities.
-Despite being created for war purposes some FF has a social life. Some are even celebrities, War heroes, have positions in Military. Hell, even one of the Legends is a pop-star.
-Project Trinity is Nova’s very own pet project that he has been working on for years, mixing three myths into one human body. Nova has theorized that such a creature would be likened to a god due to the connection of wavelengths being like the famous ouroboros, Nova had designed this in the likeness of the Holy Trinity all sides connected, all are equally distributing energy, and all are one. Yet it seems like this is just a distant dream even with test-tubing, the world might never see a creature born of such power.
