Around the small imp were several more rotting logs. They all had a variety of insects both within and underneath them. However, if one was to keep a clear eye out, then they would see the small herbs that grew on them. There was a variety of herbs, with a variety of uses. Suddenly, a small rabbit jumped out from underneath the right-most log. It was a female rabbit with light brown fur. Light squeeks could be heard coming from underneath the log, but these sounds could only be heard by the practiced ear.
Farther down, the middle log housed a foot-long lizard. The lizard had a red, triangular head and a long brown tail. Within its mouth were several poisonous fangs. All of which would be able to kill an imo several times over.
Behind the imp laid a somewhat large town that stood next to a lake. The town, called Canton Lake, was lead, although unofficially, by a Vuatz Einuk. The Old Gnoll had demonstrated his wisdom over and over, never letting others think otherwise. A band of goblins entered the town as the imp stood there. However, they did not seem to have any food.
(Hunt Rabbit -> Get fur; opens up an area with baby rabbits; can make it your home for a short time
Hunt Lizard -> Will get scales, better armor material than fur; gets poison sacks; will evolve a little if successful
Pick Herbs -> While not very filling these herbs have multiple uses; 5x health herbs, 3x paralyzing herbs
Start post with Hctib starting the action he chooses to do, based off of that post [how descriptive or well done it is] the result of the encounter will be decided; better post = better loot/ higher chance of completing the action)

A goblin, slightly younger than the impromptu chief, hurriedly grabbed the supplies from in front of the gnoll shaman. The girl, her gender distinguishable by her slightly thinner frame and clothing, backed off from Vuatz. Taking the medicine to the Chief, she stood on the other side of him. Then, in goblinish, she spoke to another goblin, <Gather the wounded, bring them to me Widuak. Then speak with the gnoll.> The goblin, Widuak, scurried to do as the healer told him. He dragged the ten wounded soldiers to the woman, laying them out next to each other. The goblins grunted in pain as the young warrior moved them none too gently. His job completed, Widuak turned to the shaman.
"Gnoll, you must be Vuatz Einuk." He said in well-spoken common. "We are the Bandoin Tribe (pronounced band-O-in). We were once prosperous, lying only fifteen leagues from this town. We know of your name from our tribe's traders. They had told us of your justice, and they were not wrong." In reverence, Widuak fell to the ground, kneeling on his right knee. Then he continued, "A great beast attacked one of our hunting parties. The survivors brought back tales of its feircesomeness, however, we put far too much trust in our warriors and weapons. We gathered a war party and set out for its hide." Widuak caught himself as his voice was about to come out in a light wobble. The sorrow of their losses was catching up with him. "The beast attacked our home, and killed many of our mothers, wives, and children. When we returned, we found our home on ruins. Then the beast attacked us. It killed most of our war party. We, the few you see before you, are all that is left."
Pausing, Widuak stood up, he looked Vuatz dead in the eye and spoke plainly, "Our chieftain, the one who lays on that table there, came here in search of a home. We come here as allies. We come here for allies. We came to beseech you for help in ridding our homelands of this menace."

Unknown to the poor imp, the lizard had bit his hand. Its poisonous fangs sinking into the skin. Hctib was dying now, but with pain comes growth. In his sleep, the imp grew by an inch, now standing 7" tall. His tail grew by several, long enough to wrap around his legs with a pointed, barbed tip. As he laid there sleeping, a drop of weak poison leaked out from the tail's barb. Continuing to change, Hctib's horns grew. They were slightly longer, and were no curving forwards. His mouth elongated ever so slightly, revealing rows of sharp teeth. However, his canines were hollow. Within them laid a weak poison, the same as in his tail. Sadly, these new fangs can be broken easily.
As his body mutated, Hctib absorbed the poison from the lizard. Red markings appeared on his greenish skin, a gift from that very same lizard. Suddenly, the imp's body stopped changing. The lizard's ravaged corpse still laid there by him. The rabbit had fled back into its home, the entrance now concealed. Strange herbs continued to abound among the fallen logs and this copse of trees. Sounds floated down to Hctib from the town of Canton Lake.
[OOC]

The Lord of The Canyon Region, which laid close to the southern border of the Ganda'll Empire, was named Furanst.
A messenger suddenly arrived from across on of the many bridges that connected these lands with their Emperor. The messenger was out of breath, his paws split open and caked with dried blood. His boots had given way long ago on his journey. With a letter for Lord Furanst from the Emperor himself, the young Kobold collapsed in the center of the Lord's city. With soft words, the messenger spoke to the guards that had rushed to his aid. In the tongue of Kobolds, he muttered, {Enemies, south...tell the Lord...prepare for war...} Then, with his sacred task completed, the Kobold sighed his last breath and passed into the realm of the gods. Soldiers and villagers alike mourned the death of this brave soul, and like wildfire, rumors began to spread. Rumors of terrible beasts, rumors of the Lizardfolk far to the south, rumors of the gods returning to these lands.
However, the truth was much more mundane. A Kobold Lord, at the southern border, had rebelled. The Lord's troops had already defeated a number of other Lords in a series of lightning fast surprise attacks. The Emperor, himself, had only heard the new several days prior to the messenger arriving in Lord Furanst's lands. It was that very same messenger who brought the Emperor the news of revolt. Now, with his task complete, Lord Furanst will prepare for war. The smoky columns of fire as brother fought brother could already be seen on the horizon of the future.
Kurtel, of course, knew none of this. However, he had seen the messenger. It peaked his interest, but today was his free day and plans for hunting in his Lord's eastern region had already been made.

Vuatz Einuk - Trading Post - Disputed Lands - Canton Lake, Oklahoma@SedentaryCobra GM - Drake
The gnoll listened with half closed eyes, pondering what he said. He gave a deep, grumbling sigh as he lost himself in thought, passing his weight between each foot and the staff. He began to speak, eyes still distant.
"Our people scavenge the deep places of the world, moving though the rusting carcasses of these dead gods in search of pieces of technology inhabited by age old machine spirits. Our warriors are well trained, but far too few in number. If the soldiers of Bandoin, more numerous and honed through decades of fighting on these borderlands, failed to kill this beast, I can hardly imagine how the men of the Gray Wanderers can help." He realized, though, that they would need to deal with such a beast. It was most likely wounded and weak, and having it ambush them at a poor time could be disastrous. Perhaps...
"That does not mean, however, that I will not help." He opened his eyes slowly, and stared at Widuak. "The hunters and warriors will not be a match for this beast. We do, however, have other men, ones who deal pound for pound in salt, blood and steel, who recite the liturgy of dead gods, and walk to battle with the spirit mantras on their lips." His tone edged of fanatical as he spoke, but he quickly calmed himself. He knew how most reacted to their machine worship, and didn't want to come to blows with them over religion. Still, he made sure to keep his back to the open door, and the goblins in front of him, just in case he needed to run. Even with so many injured, he was still outnumbered five to one.
"The Machine Priests wield the power of age old artifacts, inhabited by the spirits of old. Anointed by the fallen gods, and skilled in combat, they may be able to deal with your beast. I would lead a quorum to deal with this threat, personally. I would ask, however, that one of your number help to locate the beast. We will not walk blindly into the lion's den." He heard once more in the distance the screaming of an imp, but even his keen hearing couldn't make out the words. Internally, he shrugged.

Widuak sighed as he heard the Shaman's words. All tribes close to Canton Lake knew of the Priests of the Grey Wanderers, and every tribe was afraid of them. It has been the only reason why this little Gnoll outpost had been allowed to stay.Turning to take a look at the Goblin healer, Widuak responded to Vuatz, "My Chieftain instructed us to receive any and all help. As such, that is what I shall do." Sighing once more, he continued, "My name is Widuak, while I am young, I was the son of our tribes greatest Shaman. For that reason I will lead you to where the beast has attacked. All of our warriors who can still stand will come as well. Though, I cannot say that the beast won't try to attack us in secret, as that has been its prerogative in all our dealings with the damned creature. You have our allegiance, Shaman of the Grey Wanderers." Widuak kneeled, his right knee touching the ground. The rest of the warriors, of which there were four, kneeled in the same manner.
--------
The Warrior-Priests of the Grey Wanderers were few in number. They are isolated, preferring the company of old metal to living beings. There are some in the ruins of Longdale, which lies 1.5 miles to the east of the lake. Others explore the ruins of Canton, resting 1.5 miles to the south of the lake of Canton. In total, there are ten of them. However, it will take precious time to find them all and convince them to this cause. While most will follow Vuatz, there are some that will not. These few are the most powerful of the Prieasts, having traveled the farthest and deepest.

70 Miles East of Canton Lake; 1 month earlier, Stillwater
CRASH!!!
Suddenly, the ground in the center of the wasting ruins of a place called Stillwater burst apart. A great beast that resembled all portraits of a lion crawled out. However, this lion was over ten feet tall at the shoulder, more than double the height of an average Gnoll or Goblin. Abounding among its feet were more monsters, while substantially smaller, they were just as terrifying.
The lion was black. Its mane waving in the slight breeze almost unnaturally. Long, shadow-like tendrils lashed back and forth, side to side as if they were searching for prey. The beast's empty, black eyes shone with a hunger that no natural creature could ever possess. Sadly, a sudden sound caught the creature's attention. It was a small, green, humanoid. It was a goblin, a member of that original hunting party. The great beast immediately pounced on it, ripping the creature to shreds. Then the lion moved on, leaving the body for scavengers. The shadowy lion continued on its rampage, slaughtering the hunting party.
------
20 Miles North of Stillwater, Present day, a place called Red Rock
The shadowy Lion prowled around the ruins of the Bandoin Tribe's main village. There was a small sound as the tribe's old Shaman, Widuak's father, whimpered in pain. The beast heard this however, and nudged itself between the goblins' tents. A steel sword, the only one belonging to the Bandoin, was impaled in the beast's side. This sword belonged to the old chieftain, who had been slayed by the lion, and belongs to the tribe's new chieftain. Numerous spear wounds had been afflicted on the creature's back right leg, causing it to limp ever so slightly.
The Shaman listened as the terrible shadow crept ever closer. With his leg crushed, the goblin knew that he could never escape. He clutched at the wood and copper talismans that hung around his neck, saddened by the thought that he never got the chance to hand them down to his son. Gripping the copper spear in his aged hands, the shaman awaited his impending end. Sure enough, the lion ripped away the canvas tent that had covered the old goblin. With the very essence of death staring him down, the shaman lashed out. While he was weak with age, adrenaline and fear lent themselves to his swing. The copper spear embedded itself in the shin of the beast's front right leg. The blade went through its skin as though it was shadow, clanking against something on the inside. A ringing sound, much like when metal hits metal, reverberated throughout the old camp.
Still, the spear held, having embedded itself within something much softer than metal. With this task done, the old shaman looked up at his foe. His last view was of the creature chomping down on his head, cracking his skull, ripping it from his neck, and flinging the shaman's head far away. While Widuak's father died that day, his final attack may prove to be what will save them all.
The lion stepped away in search of more prey, limping as both of its right legs were now slightly crippled. The shadowy beast picked up the trail of the survivors of the massacre. It wanted them dead, the unnatural hunger in its dead eyes flaring up once more.
The beast was on its way to Canton Lake.
[OOC]
It will take 2-3 weeks of ingame time for the monster to reach the village at Canton Lake.
This is OOC information. No characters have any knowledge on the beast's whereabouts whatsoever. Do not metagame.

Kurtel went ahead to try and look into the messenger. He noticed the messenger appear, as soon as he walked out from his humble home. He reconned that figuring out the answers towards what just happened wouldn't take that much time, would it? he pondered for a short second. Perhaps it would be good to know what might possibly be along the future of his own clan, to hear about what he might have said before then. Though, such a thing also might be considered nosy... And, reminding himself, he had things to do anyways. He couldn't just abandon that to satisfy his curiosity! With tired eyes, he decided to gather conversations for that later.@budgiebird GM - Drake
The messenger has surely done his purpose already, from what he could see with his own eyes, may we thank for that.
He ended up deciding to mind his own business, for now, knowing that he had to gather supplies for his land. He decides to garnish his weapons and armor. He would promise himself to come back with something, then leave out for the woods, hurrying himself towards the eastern region.
Time Skip - 1 week
The smoke of war was now truly visible on the horizon. The forces of Lord Furanst were called to do battle with the rebel Lord. No one knew why the Lord had turned his back on the Emperor, much less why he now seeks to destroy the Empire. However, this didn't matter, not for simple soldiers at least.
Kurtel stood with his men. He lead a small group of only ten other individuals. They had been tasked with going around to the enemy's flank and attacking from there. While they were to attack, they were not the spear point in this endeavor. a hundred other Kobolds were attacking with them, and Kurtel's men were near the back of the speared forces. The horns blew. Their forces marched. the two main armies clashed. The branch force, of which Kurtel belonged to, was soon engaged in mortal combat with the enemy. Apparently, the Rebel Lord had the same plan as Lord Furanst.

Vuatz Einuk - Trading Post - Disputed Lands - Canton Lake, Oklahoma
The gnoll bowed his head in gratitude, and motioned for them to stand. "We do not look to fight it yet, not yet..." He drifted off in thought. "Fighting it on our own terms would be preferable. Even with the machine priests, I still fear the devastation it could bring."
He exited the cabin, motioning for Widuak and the impromptu chief to follow. Plodding across the grassy field back to the camp, Vuatz eyes drifted side to side, scanning the horizon. The great beast could strike at any time. Perhaps it stalked the goblin band on their way to Canton Lake, and was waiting to pick off stragglers who left the safety of the camp. Gods knew some of these beasts were deathly intelligent. Moving to a small tent towards the center of the camp, Vuatz lifted the flap open, and stopped inside.
Aside from some hides on the floor, and a bedroll, not much lined the interior of the tent. It was spartan
