Looking at the date on your PDA, you can see it's 1962... 40 years ago, most of Earth had succumbed to death by nuclear fallout from mutually assured destruction. All that remains are several major cities, countless military outposts, irradiated abominations, and Gaz inc.

Gaz is a massive, inter-continental dictating company that had used the nuclear war as leverage to take control of what human life was left. When cities needed air, Gaz was there for them. When food was growing short, Gaz synthesized supplement packs for artificial sustenance. If there was unrest in the streets, Gaz was there to subdue.

A heavily armored Gaz mobile base, followed by a small patrol of infantry.

With so much power and nothing to stop them, Gaz began to grow mad with power. The cities began to be less and less hospitable to the inhabitants. Forcing all to wear the same bleak uniforms, keeping peace through violence, and killing those who could not work. These are only some examples of the horrors of Gaz cities, and thinking back, you don't even want to try and remember any more.

However, when City 6 erupted in a mass of flames and radiation due to two mysterious subjects, massive panic fell upon the surrounding area. Many died, some fled, and some chose to stay. Those who fled equipped themselves with whatever they could salvage from dead Gaz officers, and sprinted off, passing the now shattered gates of the city. Those lucky enough to slip through, unnoticed by patrols, had another face to spit in - death himself.

TXlV2li.png

City 6 on the horizon, churning with flames and radioactivity.

They were doomed either way, but there are always chances. Looking down at the flickering screen of your electronic device, you can see a set of distant coordinates. The sender is as unknown as the location itself, but it is quite far from any other cities marked on your GPS. After countless trials of survival, you reach the coordinates to find a small outpost housing several other people having a similar story to you- and the same goal.

The leader, or whatever he claims to be, is Pyotr. He's the one who sent out the coordinates to all subjects willing to receive, but this also includes the Gaz themselves. That means they are coming, and that you need to move. Where? Well, there's a bit of faith that plays into our destination. Old rumors of the last remaining safe place emerge from the depths of your memory: The Tower.

It is a massive, creaking metal structure that used to be a metropolis somewhere in southern Asia. It likely houses a myriad of supplies, and quite possibly even the ingredients for agriculture - one believes. This legend is your only hope, and all you have to follow is Pyotr, who claims to know the location. Will you follow him?

TL;DR: Post apocalyptic nuclear wasteland Asia. Gaz = evil company/military force that wants to rule what's left of humanity. You've escaped from a Gaz city that was bombed. After following mysterious coordinates, you find a group of other escapees, and decide to travel together to a legendary tower that is said to hold lots of supplies. The good news? The tower has no Gaz. The bad news? Gaz is hot on your trail. Good luck.

I haven't seen many Sci-fi roleplays here, so I thought I'd contribute with one of my own old creations. I'm looking for experienced roleplayers that can effectively "play to lose".

Characters would be a bit limited, and must be wearing some sort of protective suit - unless they are machines. The atmosphere has very little oxygen, lots of deadly radiation, unstable temperatures, and dust storms. All characters are, at this point, experienced fighters if they've managed to get as far as this. Whether your character specializes in engineering, medical work, or anything else you might want, is up to you.

Weapons will be mostly ballistic. Nothing too crazy, but there will be two specialized characters that carry a sniper rifle, and an LMG (respectively), the others will be limited to rifles and pistols.

It will be easy to die. Signing up for the roleplay means you're signing up for the possibility for your character to die. Just a couple bullets, and your suit is punctured, your skin is infected, and you will go into shock. Unless you get serious medical attention fast, your character will soon be buried under the dust.

It's late, sorry if this is badly written, I'm just curious to see if anyone wants to try this out with me. No limit on players as of right now.

I haven't done a lot of Sci-fi roleplays, although I have been role playing for about two or three years now. I have always loved this kind of 1960's post apocalyptic worlds and would love to give it a shot! Kind of reminds me of watching my older brother play Metro 3030 when i was younger haha.
Super stoked to see how this turns out!

Here's a simple character sheet to fill out for your characters.

Pyotr Abakumov
A man of science who yearns for nothing but his past.

N4zwrdF.png

Race:
Human
Age: 68
Gender: Male
Alias: Pete
Personality: Pyotr is a man of mostly silence. He does not want to waste his breath, due to his being very limited. He tends to be very stoic, and down-to-Earth with his decisions. Does not take a joke well. A bit of a daydreamer, but tries not to show it. If he needs something done, you bet your ass it will be done before sunrise.
History: Pyotr was born into a wealthy Russian family. He had always been interested in the sciences, despite being encouraged to play rough with all the other boys. Eventually, this landed him a job in the Hazardous Materials and Environments Dept. of Gaz Incorporated. This was shortly before the fall of Earth due to nuclear fallout. Pyotr had always been suspecting this, and preemptively fled shortly before the strike across the world. He never really settled in the cold wastes of what remains of Asia, but acts more like a nomad, living off of the liquid oxygen reserves and IV supplements he can scavenge.
Pyotr cannot take off his suit. His immune system has degenerated after years of not being used.

Abilities:
Old man's Intuition:
Pete is a scientist with experience in the dangerous field of hazardous materials. After countless years of surviving in the dust fields, He understands many things, and has kept both his suit, and his jeep running for years.
Scientists Will: While Pyotr's immune system failed years ago, his suit handles everything and more than his body could ever hope to. He can survive in many places that no ill-equipped human could.

Junkers likes to wear the suit to keep out the sand, and for extra protection.

Out of suit

Junkers Au-98, 02-0173

Race: Humanoid Combat Machine
Age: 3
Gender: None, but a masculine body shape and voice often make 'it,' 'him.'
Alias: "Gold", name taken for itself after the 'Au' abbreviation in its name
Personality: Gold, or Junkers, talks quite a bit, or at least more than one would expect for an amnesic, fatalistic robot. Cheery in the face of danger and displaying an almost shocking lack of morals, Gold's personality would be diagnosed as 'psychotic' if he were a human. He works well with others, though, and is more than willing to lend a hand to others.
History: A top-of-the-line, experimental riot control robot imported from a Gaz factory in what used to be Germany, Junkers Automaton version 98, serial number 02-0173 was deployed to assist local Gaz forces in maintaining control of City 6. The new Au-98 series machines were equipped with an AI that experimented with principles of self preservation alongside new personality matrixes, in the hopes of making them more effective than traditional machines in combat. During the event in City 6, a massive spike of radiation severely damaged Gold's combat inhibitor, and warped what personality was installed. Along with half of the on board advanced equipment being destroyed, Gaz's control was also broken. Now with some freedom, Gold donned the nearest set of clothes he could find, and wandered out into the wasteland.

Abilities:
Machine-Machine Interface -
Gold can interface with most electronic machines easily, and is capable of hacking and manipulating them, usually in a matter of minutes. Of course, very old or degraded machinery, and very well protected, military grade machinery take far longer than is feasible in most situations, if possible at all.
A Really Advanced Hard Drive - Gold has a literal photographic memory, capable of recording important images, sounds, and video, and is able to export them into other machines. He can replay and re watch these things in perfect clarity in his head, if he needs to.
Human Automaton - Junkers has no need to breathe, eat, sleep, and has good protection from most ambient radiation. His power supply will last for several years, as well, assuming no power is siphoned off. His humanoid shape lets him use everything designed for regular people, and when in full garb, if not inspected closely, even passes for a human.

Birthplace: Gaz Factory, in what was Germany
Likes: Gambling, Weapons, and Exploring
Dislikes: Sand, Gaz, Other Intelligent Robots, and Radiation
Weapon: Modified Gaz M60 Machine Gun
Skills: Electronics, Memory and Calculations
Weaknesses: JAMMED!!! - While made of some sturdy materials and hard to damage, any injuries incurred never heal, no matter their size. They require repairs from someone skilled, or replacement parts, which are rare. Damage to certain mechanisms can have unpredictable results on Gold's personality. Certain powerful, anti-electronic equipment like EMPs also affect Gold.
VIRUS!!! - While immune to disease, Gold isn't immune to computer viruses. While most of his wireless communication systems are broken, he can still be hacked physically, given the right tools, or if he interacts with the wrong interface.
Fears: Viruses, Sand, and Degradation

Sounds good! I love the concept and can't wait to see Gold in action! A machine character is perfect for use of an LMG, however, the M249 saw never existed, as it was created in 1984. I suggest him having either an older gun (such as the PKM [Russian] or MG-42 [German]), or a more high-tech Gaz made weapon of your own creation.
Though, I guess it could be plausible the M249 to simply be a gun already created by the Gaz. It's up to you.

Looks great! I like the concept of being able to make bullets, that'll really come in handy for the crew.

Kim Ji Seung

Race: Human
Age: 35
Gender: Female
Alias (optional): Doc
Personality:
For someone living in a radiated wasteland, Doc is surprisingly laidback. Though a bit reserved, she doesn't mind the company of a friendly face and will do anything to help another. As lackadaisical as she is, Doc works hard and prefers to think through scenarios rather than jumping in.
History:
Her father a medical bioengineer for Gaz Inc., Doc often accompanied her father in his research and studies. Her father favored experimentations to ensure his works' success, and it wasn't unusual for Doc to be a subject, as in the case of her volunteering her left arm to be replaced by a prototype cybernetic prosthetic. As experimentations worsened, however, as did arguments. When City 6 was attacked, Doc took the opportunity to gather her things and thinly managed to escape the city. Using the information garnered under her father's teaching--as well as from experience--Doc became somewhat of a traveling medic, trading her services for goods.

Abilities:
Just What The Doctor Ordered
There's a reason Ji Seung earned the nickname 'Doc'. She knows how to stitch a wound, stop an infection, and other methods of medicine.
Armed and Ready
Doc's prosthetic arm is constructed of strong alloys that make it resistant to longterm exposure to radiation and allow her to carry a bit more weight than her normal arm can, all while being unable to feel heat or pain or anything at all.
Let's Talk Business
Surviving in a nuclear wasteland was part-time luck, and part-time reasoning with 'patients' for a good deal. Doc's mindset leans towards negotiations, being experienced enough to try and reason out a balance where both parties (hopefully) don't end up killing eachother.

Birthplace: Korea
Likes:
-Helping others
-Music and dancing
-New places.
Dislikes:
-Deep water
-Feeling helpless
-Having her mechanical arm pointed out
Weapon: Manlicher M1895, Machete
Skills: Medicine, Negotiations, Stealth
Weaknesses:
-Trusts too easily
-Mechanical hand prone to malfunctioning due to it technically still being a prototype
Fears:
-Deep water
-Being unable to save someone
-Being taken advantage of

Looks great! I was going to mention that prosthetics were being developed in secret by Gaz, but it looks like I don't have to now.
