an ecological disaster left much of the planet nearly inhospitable, we now survive as A species by floating. above the black clouds and storms that raze the surface exist floating cities made from powerful technology used during the peak of humanities power, drifting across the sky powerful sensors are used to find useful resources on the surface. While these areas have always been places on contention A new discovery under the northern ice fields has sparked A race to the top of the globe as tensions mount groups of explorers and salvagers race to find an ancient AI known as the architect. Our story takes place on the sky city of Requiem
Requiem is the largest Sky city housing well over fifteen million inhabitants ruled by the consulate A group of thirteen individuals who deal with the socioeconomic realms of administration. the chief architect A mysterious position that is inherited by apprenticeship, they are responsible for the maintenance of the nuclear power system that runs the critical systems of Requiem. The overseer is in charge of security and military matters
Resources are still needed in reqeium and other sky cities like it. While probes are used to find possible retrieval zones the task enevitably falls upon the salvage crews. Brave or foolish men and women wearing eviromental regulation suits are sent down on gigantic elevators.
The characters would be A part of the crew A small airship(high tech blimps your welcome to elect A player captain or I can npc one) while technology is not viewed as mystic the communist views of requiems government restricts higher knowledge to members of the elite. Imagine the technology of the modern era but due to the state of the world commoners have very little access to more than they had in the mid 1900's. While innovation still goes on the primary fields of advancement have been in bioengineering and material science
Examples of roles: be creative we're making this world together
Centurions are combat focused and specialise in the fighting that goes on in the tight confines of wearing protective armor and usually carrying close quarters or even melle weapons along with shields of composite material that can absorb most small arms fire
Biotechs are focused on genetic manipulation and can commonly be seen with what most would call monsters, vat grown creatures that are designed for use as companion to the biotech while he is in the field(make your own familliar)
Some individuals willingly or not are given extensive Gene alterations and while they may impart amazing abilities there are always drawbacks.
