Bio: Chester was born into a working class family. He was the youngest out of six, with his five older brothers all becoming bricklayers. Chester’s father was a baker, which is how Chester ended up in the business of baking. His father taught him everything that he knew, from how to make a basic loaf of bread to how to make a cake for the queen. For many years after his brothers moved out, Chester and his father kept on working at the bakery, until one day the servant of a nobleman came to the bakery. The nobleman’s servant ordered a wedding cake. It was the biggest order that the two had ever received, and they tried their best. When they received the payment, it was a rather admirable amount. With that money, Chester’s parents moved away to a sizeable house for a comfortable retirement. They left a small fraction behind for Chester so that he could keep the bakery going.
Interests: Baking. Designing new cakes. His religion (Christianity). He also enjoys reading the newspaper, watching birds from his bedroom window, and drinking and playing cards at his favourite bar.
Hates: Spoiled ingredients. Storms. His clothes getting ruined. People who are too energetic. Messes. People who take card games too seriously.
Looks: Chester is an averagely sized man, standing at 5’9”, though he slouches over - if he was to stand up straight, he’d be around 5’11”. He is neither thin or fat, yet his bones jut out awkwardly at his knees, his ankles, his wrists and his knees, making him look awkward and knobbly. He has an olive skin tone. He has smallish, stern-looking dark brown eyes and medium length light brown hair, normally sitting under a bowler, a top hat, or a small cloth that he ties his hair up into when he’s cooking. He has well defined cheekbones and jawbones, though a full beard hides most of these features. He has remarkably large hands.
Regarding clothes, Chester has two typical sort of clothing styles. When working, he wears a loose white shirt, his fathers old smock frock, and a pair of grey corduroys. He uses an old piece of cloth to tie his hair up and keep it out of his way and out of his food. When he isn’t working, he wears a white shirt, a dark brown sack coat with a light brown waistcoat and a pair of black full-length trousers.
Personality: Chester is a well-meaning man, though he is quite dim. He is respectable and polite, and only ever has good things to say about people. He doesn’t tend to look into things too much, supposing that things are just what they appear, no matter what else might be suggested. He is a simple man, whom enjoys drink and games at the bar. He is always up for a game of cards, though he only plays for recreational purposes, rarely making bets. He moves and speaks slowly, seeming to always take his time with what he does, something that earns him complaints from his more impatient patrons. Due to his slowness and his dim-wittedness, it’s easy to get frustrated with him if you’re trying to explain something.
When it comes to his baking, he becomes intricate and precise, making sure that everything is exactly right before doing anything. If you were to see his diagrams of cakes, it would be quite confusing; they look like messy, careless doodles, with scribbles that are supposedly the english language all around them. Every Sunday, he can be found in the church, praying. Even though he is quite polite, he is a good barterer.
