Introduction​

The Last Ball is a realistic murder mystery roleplay. There is a huge ball being held by a very respected family, with important faces flying in from all over the globe. But, as things where just going as planned, tragedy struck. The party guests must work along side one another to put the pieces of the puzzle together.

Setting​

The world is vastly different from the world we know today. The year is 1939, and the Great Eastern War has finished after 80 long years of combat between the Desert Sultan State of Kathar and The Northern Empire of Moravia. These two super powers where once both located on the spearhead-like continent of Roscia, east of the Midland Ocean. Now that the war is over, Moravia has captured the entire continent of Roscia and established itself as the greatest super power in the world. Though tensions are still high between nations, the balance in the world has not tipped.

Story​

The Mediterranean Island of Capriccio, residing in the center of the Midland Ocean, is where our story begins. Owned by the Caspar Family, who made their fortune funding both sides of the Great Eastern War, Capriccio serves as both a retreat for wealthy travelers and a neutral zone for politicians. The creator of the family business, Edmundo Caspar, accumulated a net worth of around 1.2 Trillion Dollars during the war. For a short time, Edmundo had it all; politicians, governments, even entire countries in the back of their pocket. And, for the past ten years he would throw a giant "Summer Night Ball" to celebrate. But, as the war started to die, so did the Caspar name. The Caspar's have decided that this years ball needs to be bigger then any before, and they decided to give only the most noble and famous celebrities and politicians a ticket.

Technology​

In this world, there are no nuclear weapons and no space ships, yet. Private jets exist, and so do electric cars, but these are luxuries that very few can afford. Still, oil powered cars and other machines are used by many; horses are usually reserved for petting zoos. Most modern weapons exist, like sniper rifles and machine guns, but you wont be allowed into the ball with those. Basically, whatever seems reasonable for WW2 is good.

This will be the OOC thread for the murder mystery roleplay "The Last Ball", used for character creation, Q&A and general discussion.

If you want to create a character, the format is in the spoiler below. I don't demand too much, as I want all our characters to really be fleshed out and molded throughout the course of the plot, as it should be.

I think if you do allow magic it should really play a part for example in an rp i am planning, a murder mystery one actually, the supernatural will exist as the main thing will be the curse controlling the killer(s) and haunting in the manor.anyways.

Backstory: To say the Vyacheslavovich family is rich is a severe understatement. The Vyacheslavovich Dynasty has controlled the ebb and flow of oil pouring out of Roscia and out across the world for the past 30 years, resulting in massive profits and a level of self-centered decadence that has pushed the limits of moral illegitimacy to the max. Mishi is the 2nd born of the eight heirs of the Vyacheslavovich family, which has lead to much jealousy among his seven siblings who are constantly trying to undermine and stab each other in the back. Mishi runs a line of high-class casinos in Moravia under the guidance of his father and typically tries to stay out of his siblings' feuds even though his involvement in the family business has become increasingly demanded since the end of the Great Eastern War. Mishi was forced to attend the ball by his father for the purpose of representing his family in a social setting among the world's elite, a responsibility typically taken by his older brother, who was recently arrested (at one of Mishi's casinos, no less) for several indecent crimes that reflected poorly on the Vyacheslavovich name. Acquiring the exclusive invitation was difficult, even for someone of Mishi's status, he hopes it will be worth it.

Since this takes place in the Mediterranean, would a Mobster-like character who is associated with the Caspar'ss loosely be acceptable?

Backstory:​

Raised in an orphanage from the age of four Chen has been very self sufficient. So from the age of six she began doing what she could to care for herself. She became a pickpocket taking a little here and there picking up new talents as time passed. But picking pockets wasn't enough to live on in the long run so she turned to entertaining. On nights when people were performing in the streets she took to watching and learning. She picked up dancing and a few songs then stuck out to try it on her own before joining up with a group at thirteen. When they had guest that were well off Chen took to snatching a few small items that wouldn't be missed. These would be sold and after money sent to the orphanage to care for the children. But how does that bring us here? Well she nicked the invitation for the entertainment from another group she thought the ball would be the best place for her to snatch things that wouldn't much be missed.​

Backstory: For years the Lennox family has had control over railroads and shipping, their empire only expanded as time went on. The Lennox family are well known for being philanthropist, they give to charities and have many themselves. Victor was raised in a strict but loving house hold, his mother was a heiress turned housewife and his father was a strict businessman who expected the best from his children. They were very close and didn't let greed for money or power turn them into bad people, there was no betrayal or backstabbing when it came to them. The public sees them as the model family with a beautiful wife and handsome husband who stay faithful, and smart children who don't do anything to shame their family. Victor's family were sent invitations of course but he was chosen to go on their behalf, he would be representing the Lennox family and maybe make some powerful and influential allies.
