Ame Damnee The Solstice Colosseum - Arena

Kian

Humanity's Stargazer
While New Eden is the glorious home to everlasting peace, the enormous Solstice Colosseum stands as the city's sole arena, strictly reserved for sports and training. The audience stands surround the circular field, observing the occasional sparring match among other events. Reservations and events are posted on the announcement board but are heavily regulated to prevent the injury or even death of contestants. Among the array of features, the Colosseum utilizes canopies to close the open-air ceiling, allows the field to be flooded for sea-based activities, and allows for the changing of the field's environment type.

Archer and Kestrel

Archer was somewhat the overly excited boy as he pointed everything he liked out about the new world around them to Kestrel. The older twin was growing annoyed but didn’t show it any. He understood his brother’s excitement and didn’t think it was right to stamp on it just because they were looking for food. The guard had warned that there likely wasn’t any place open currently as the city was in a state of mourning. Whatever that meant.

The boys grew up simply burning those that died and thinking little of it. Clearly there were things the two had to learn to get along with the humans in this place and the angels. The mere thought of those winged fools caused Kestrel to grit his teeth. Angels and deamons were all the same in his book. Fools for not realizing that they were made to be the servants of the humans.

He sighed right before the two found themselves in the shadow of a large building. The appearance of it alone made them stare, “What is that?” Archer asked softly to his twin who shrugged and gave him a look of how the hell am I supposed to know. Slowly the stepped forward to look over the large doors and at the signs they had no hope of reading.

Sigeward's sauntering lazily lead him through the empty city until the massive silhouette of the Solstice Colosseum entered his sight. The sorrowful music of the funerals now but a souvenir allowed the man's steps to quicken. A spar or two should help him gets his spirits up, hell, he'd even spar against one of the wardens if he had to. He just had to move, his muscles ached for some action. Once under the shadow of the massive structure, an enthusiast and slightly sadistic smile took over his expression. A swift tug on the back on his armour's hood pulled it back.

Two humanoid figures stood before the main entrance. Sigeward approached, intrigued by their stillness. Both looked pretty normal for as much as he could tell, the familiar disgust the traits of an angel usually provoked within him still very much absent. The older man cleared his throat once behind the boys, the metallic notes of his steps went silent. He spoke out, a hint of mockery perceptible in his tone "Are you both here for simple tourism?" The man smiled, he walked around them and opened the door, one of his arm extending towards the large interior of the arena. "How about we all get a proper introduction to each others?" It was a wild guess, but it did look like at least one of them was carrying some kind of weaponry.

The older man's brows furrowed once his gaze finally got to take a good look at both of them. Twins? That was, interesting.

Archer’s head tilted at the odd sounds he heard coming their way. His brother heard them too out of habit more than anything Archer moved so he was facing the opposite way of his twin. Those golden eyes of his quickly locked on the new comer. The look on his face was a practiced one of arrogance. While the other had a stoic expression that showed nearly nothing about what he was feeling. The two were used to defending themselves that was made clear in their natural reactions to someone approaching them.

“We are simply looking,” Kestrel stated before being followed up by Archer, “But there’s plenty of time for wondering about later.”

Once the man was in front of Kestrel. Archer turned around in place and looped his arms around his twin’s shoulders, “It’s rude to asked for the names of other without offering your own first,” Kestrel hummed slightly before glancing at his twin. They seemed to be silently discussing something before Kestrel glanced at the armored man, “I’m Kestrel and my brother is Archer. And you would the welcome wagon I assume?”

The twins were waiting. They knew all too well the likeability that someone was their enemy and the sort to take what they had fought to keep. To them the rules of the wild still reigned even if they were in the confines of a city.

Sigeward's jaw slightly dropped as he pondered one or two details. He should not have assumed the twins would get what he meant by "properly introducing" right away, especially since they were outsiders. The tall man tried to relax his tensed muscles, a long sigh followed before a warmer smile took over his expression. They were both tensed, both on their guard, they had nothing to fear from Sige, but that they wouldn't know. "Kestrel, Archer, I am Sigeward. I wouldn't see myself as such, but if I'm the first person you meet in Eden, I can assume the role. Or would you rather have one of those glorified bleached birds do it?" A quick chuckle escaped him, his stare fixed on the silhouette of an angel flying by in the distance, he invited them both inside the large building after going in himself. His first two words as strict as any orders : "Come in, I wasn't really asking for your names at first. I must agree, it would've been quite rude of me." He turned around, the Colosseum was almost entirely empty, as expected from the current events. His arms opened and his strong and low voice echoed through the halls : "This is an arena, I was looking for some sparring partners!" Memories flowed back in. The main fighting area was most likely empty right now, but it could grab the unwanted attention of some wardens if they were to use it. The deserter did know some rooms that allowed for training though.

His large hands quickly reached for each others, letting out a loud clap as he squeezed both of them together.
"Scared?" A mischievous smile went by, probably the best way to get to men their ages. With a bit of chance, they'd be not only able fighters, but a fine addition to his cause.

Devon Ironsides - Arena Grandstands

The one-eyed dwarf sitting in the grandstands was never one for New Eden formalities, whether it be attending funerals for the over controlling police force or upholding the repressive laws of New Eden at all. The dwarf, Devon Ironsides, was one of the masters of New Eden's underground, specifically the Master of the Pit, New Eden's own personal fight club. Ever a gambling man Devon had made a good fortune off the underground and rarely ever emerged to the surface, if he did it was for either drinking or scouting, sometimes both in one day. That was precisely why he was sitting within the arena today, looking to see if there were any souls who didn't care about New Eden's laws and were tough enough to make him a lot of money.

Turns out his sober excursion to the surface had born fruit as three rather unkempt looking gentlemen made their way through the main fighting area. Twins whom Devon hadn't seen before and one hooded figure who definitely looked like he belonged in the Underground. He saw them headed towards the sparring chambers and figured he'd get a sneak peek at the unsanctioned action, just to see if any of these buggers were worth his time.

Archer and Kestrel - The Solstice Colosseum- District of Elysian

Kestrel spoke for them both for now after all he was better at getting the information he wanted without showing annoyance or causing a brawl to break out, “They haven’t approached us and I would prefer if it stayed that way,” He didn’t speak for his brother but the other remained mute on the point the old twin made. It was safe to say they thought and believed the same. The mention of sparring drew the younger twin’s gaze.

Those golden eyes sparked to life in a why that clearly stated it wasn’t the goading that made him want to show his skills. Archer was the sort that fought just to be fighting. He did it with his twin and he did it to all he met if the situation was right. The smile that crossed his lips was that of a mad man. Kestrel glanced at his brother from the corner of his eye, “I suppose we are game.”

The twins didn’t truly know the means of holding back. They were like wolves being let loose of their chains society placed upon them as soon as they crossed the archway into the training area. One darted to the left the other to the right. There were perfect mirrors of each other. As the aimed to dish out a series of punches and kicks. Archer aimed to kick the legs out from under the man from the left while Kestrel slammed him to the ground with a well place hook of the arm. They were good at what they did and loved what they did. The ever stoic Kestrel’s face was finally alive with what could only be called joy.

Sigeward shared Archer's smile in a more rational way, he wasn't mad, he didn't have to be a bloodthirsty maniac to enjoy a good fight, but it was the vibe the young man gave in that brief instant. Still, the older man understood that feeling and enjoyed the enthusiasm as it would bring passion to the duel. He lead the way to the training area, giving a quick look up at the audience stands only to see it nearly empty. His attention wasn't away for very long, as soon as the twins had passed through, swift footsteps could be heard on the hardened dirt floor. They were both already going for him.

The veteran's stance solidified in the fraction of a second, his hands instinctively took a defensive position, his foot guard widened to give him more stability. They both were very obviously used to fight together, the attack were well timed and aimed to throw the man to the floor. Once down there, with two swift opponents, it would be nigh impossible to get back up. Thankfully, Zane was wearing armour, and the mix of leather, cloth and strategically placed metal couldn't be better for this type of attacks especially around the extremities of his body. He used the metallic part of his boots to block the incoming blows to his legs, even with this full contact, his stance wouldn't allow him to fall over that easily. The blows, although mostly painless, shook the man's foundations hard enough to prevent him grabbing the hook on it's way for his upper body. He instead opted for a block aimed at his whole right arm. Painful, but the best option in this case, moving too much would only get him to trip and fall.

His answer came in fast and hard. A strong exhale, almost a shout accompanied a twist of his body towards Kestrel, his free left hand raised in a uppercut to hit the young man's stomach. His right feet turned 90 degrees to face the same twin as the left one swiftly changed position to keep Sigeward balanced. A large cloud of dust kicked up towards Archer's face in the movement, hopefully it would get him off his case for a quick second or two while he focused on the closest of both.

Archer quickly rolled away from the foot he saw headed for him while Kestrel took the upper cut to his abdomen solidly. Those golden eyes never left the opponent's face as he was was lifted in the air a good foot or so as he was pushed back. Pain was nothing new to the male clearly he was used to being beaten within an inch of his life. That cold stare said it all as he spat a bit of blood towards the armored male. Archer bounced up with his eyes closed and shook his head before opening them, “Stout.” Came the comment from Archer who grinned a bit more, “No one we have ran into so far has managed to stay up from that attack. I lend it to the armor you wear. Only the weak need such finery.”

Kestrel was simply thinking out their next line of attack. If they could get the armor off the male perhaps they had a better chance. If not they needed to find a weak spot. He recalled a knight they had run into at some point on their travels. He had gone down quickly after Kestrel figured out that the back of the knees, inside of the elbows, privates and armpits were not plated like the rest of him. The knight had worn a helmet that joined at the neck by straps. The straps had been easy enough to snap with a well placed kick. This action had snapped the poor knight’s neck.

Lunging forward again the lithe male danced gracefully from his left foot to his right then back to his left before delivering a very powerful kick aimed at the upper part of the opponent's head. Archer fell in place right behind him aiming to do the same attack but from the other side after his twin had moved out of the way. The pair was worth their weight that was for sure as they were truly relentless in the determination to not loose. For them loosing could mean death.

Devon Ironsides - Colosseum interior

Devon had managed to sneak a peek at the intense two on one fight and was very intrigued by the ability of all three combatants when suddenly he started feeling very cold. A fog rolled in through the colosseum and the moon looked as if it were eclipsing the sun, plunging the world into a darkness nearly as potent as his own underground. Devon decided that was a sign that he should start heading back underground. Thankful that he went out in his light dwarven armor, he quickly equipped Gin and Tonic, his brass knuckles and started to exit the colosseum.

The cold stare Kestrel gave him as the veteran drove a fist in his stomach stupefied Sigeward. He couldn't remember the last time he saw someone ignore pain that well, hell for all the older man knew, Kestrel could've just not felt anything. Impossible, unless he was affected by some rare condition or using magic, the boy should feel a hit of that intensity, especially with his lack of protection. The boy spat a glob of blood, bringing a smile back on Sige's face, that was more like it. A voice came from behind, dividing Sige's attention in between both of the twins again. He chuckled at Archer's comment, his low gravely voice answered : "If no one ever managed to stay up from your attack, it only means you've never encountered an experienced fighter. And if you wished for a fair fight, you should've said so earlier. Equipment and preparation makes a good warrior, let me remind you that this is a two versus one." A hand pointed towards both blades in his back "Just be thankful I silently agreed to this being a hand to hand fight." He smirked, what a cocky thing to say when the boy was fighting alongside his brother. The man would've gladly taken him in a hand to hand armourless fight had he expressed the wish for it.

The boys seemed to be analysing his protection, it wasn't that heavy a piece of equipment honestly. While his forearms and shin region were plated, there wasn't any more trace of heavy metal usage. While two thick pieces of hardened leather protected his shoulders, most of his body was covered by cloth and leather straps. When both boys came back at him, he was ready. Expecting another synchronised attack, Sige was at first puzzled by the single kick aimed at his head. He turned towards Kestrel, ducked under the high attack and swung an arm towards the open side of his opponent. The sound of someone landing on the dirt behind him sent alarms in the warrior's mind. He stopped his attack to turn around as fast as he could, only to receive a boot to the side of the head. His hands finally caught up in a vain attempt to protect him, instead trying to get a hold of Archer's leg and throw him as far as he could before the lights went out.

The momentum sent Sige's spinning backward, his foot kicking up a large amount of dirt before he finally stopped, a hand on his head and another one defensively in front of him. His vision blurred, he suddenly felt a chilling cold take a hold of his body. The attack couldn't have been that strong, could it? No, life wasn't leaving him, his vision confirmed it as it slowly came back. The sight greeting him was something else though. The sun now eclipsed by the moon, a heavy fog impeded his view. The man took his hand off the head wound to confirm what he already knew, a bloody mess, he'd need a bandage. He looked at the twins, slightly confused : "Did you boys finally decide to use magic or is this really happening?"

Archer’s eyes sparked at the male’s words before he noticed his twin’s wide gaze, “Ni-san,” He whispered as he quickly came over to the other two men. Grabbing both by the wrists he hauled them towards the hall they had come from and pushed them into the shadows, “Keep quiet and still.”

Kestrel’s body was tight as a noose rope with a body dangling from its end as he stared out into the fog. The twins had bumped into this sort of fog before it had left carnage behind it. It didn't care what it ran into, nor if it was innocent or guilty of every sin possible. It aimed to kill. At least Kestrel was sure this was that fog. The damage it had wrecked over the small village they had last seen it in had left him having more of his nightmares.

“Oni-san,” Archer began, “Do you think it’s the same?”

“Do you wanna test and see if it isn’t?” His brother returned sharply the closer the fog crept the further he pushed the men into the hall, “Black plague.”

Sigeward, slightly wary at first by the sudden change in their attitude, decided to follow the twins. As he did so, he reached down to tear one of the longer cloth part of his armour off. The adrenaline still rushing through his veins allowed him to ignore the burning sensation coming from the wound. Worry pieced through the twin's voices, what could be so bad about a bit of fog during a solar eclipse? The older man was still ready to fight, his whole body tense from the earlier exercise disallowed him to sense the dread and eeriness of the situation. He swiftly wiped some blood off his left eye and started wrapping the piece of cloth around his head to prevent more of the scarlet liquid hindering his vision.

If one thing was certain, it was that the sense of urgency and horror both twins conveyed was true, and Sige wasn't foolish enough to argue with such raw emotions. He closed his eyes and expelled air from his lungs loudly to calm himself before following them further down the corridor. "What do you know about this exactly?" He looked back at the fog lazily creeping their way, there wasn't any outrunning it, the thing must've been all over town. Sooner or later it would fill every areas of the immense town. "I own a warehouse down a couple of roads from here. If you think we'll need weaponry and supplies, now's the time to say so." Sige wasn't one to ask before doing, except when he had so few informations that he was pretty much forced to. This whole situation felt wrong.

Kestrel’s gaze trailed over the fog slowly trying to figure out if there was any enemies close by before he answered the older man’s question, “To the best of my knowledge the dead that are able to will get up and try to fight as if they lived again. They feel no pain and fear no blades nor magic. You can burn them to death.”

Archer nodded in agreement, “We encountered this once before. The caster as to be stopped,” A shiver traveled down his form, “I hate warlocks.”

They cries and shrieks for deeper in the city made the twins both go rigid with alertness, “Weapons you said?” Archer asked, “Any that burn?”

The dead, rising? What kind of hellish magic was that? Did it mean the whole funeral procession would rise back? Bad news, there were lots of human commoners attending it, and most of the undead in this zone were accomplished warriors. Thankfully it also meant that as of right now, they were safe. To the man's knowledge, there were thankfully not any corpses being held nearby. "Alright, relax, there aren't any corpses to bring back around the arena to my knowledge." He allowed himself to bring his voice back to a normal tone. "We don't keep any fire-based weaponry at our HQ as we tend to rely on magic for that. At most we keep oil to flame arrows." He reached for the hand crossbow in his back, making sure it was loaded and ready.

"As long as they stay away from the Elysian district, they're none of my concern. I do have some men in the area I need to protect though. You both are good fighters, and expressed a certain disgust towards the angels. I run an organisation that want to see humans back in charge of their own life. I want to see everything that isn't human at the bottom of a new hierarchy we'll dictate. Are you in on this?"

Archer and Kestrel - The Solstice Colosseum- District of Elysian

The glare Kestrel gave the man at that moment was one that could have killed had he the ability to kill with his gaze alone. Taking a deep breath he sighed then noticed his twins expression was one of somewhat excitement, “Fine we will join. We will discuss later as to the terms of this agreement, no?”

Archer grinned widely, “The dead, the living… It matters little to me. All I want is to fight them all off and prove that I’m stronger,” The twins were similar in many ways but clearly different in just as many. Kestrel was wary of all that grew interested in him and his twin. While the other threw his caution to the wind and fought with every fiber of his being.

This differenced made them stronger together. Only they knew how they were alone. Cracking his knuckles Archer grinned at the man, “Where do we start?”

Sigeward sighs loudly, relaxing his tensed muscles for hopefully the last time of the day. The undead had been decent opponents by the sheer amount of them, sweat and fatigue was now slowly taking the place of adrenaline and excitation. "What were we saying?" His voice lower than usual, he cleared his throat, tapped the shoulder of the closest twin and smiled : "Welcome to New Eden, was it?"

He turned around, looking over the Elysian district. His hand extended to point over at a smaller part of it filled with large warehouses and tightly packed buildings. "Those are the ones we're defending, I don't care about the angels, demons, or whatever the fuck they come up with next." He looked over to Kestrel, the one he felt hesitate earlier. Their eyes locked. "You have nothing to fear from me, as long as I know you're both humans."

Archer and Kestrel - The Solstice Colosseum- District of Elysian

The twins were covered in more grim. This displeased Kestrel more than anything with this simple fact. Having a zombie poof into dust right all over him made him somewhat testy. Archer on the other hand was having a field day. He had been kicking heads off and enjoyed the feel of the dust mixed with adrenaline. The younger twin lived for the battle.

It was Archer Sigeward had tapped on the shoulder. The boy grinned widely at him, “Is it like this all the time?” He asked excitedly.

Upon being addressed Kestrel glanced at the man in black, “Human is all we are or ever will be. It’s a matter of the simple need to protect our kind from theirs. They think they are better but merely exist to show us how we are better than them. We are perfect without the need to be drawn to the light or the darkness. We can exist anywhere. Proving we are superior.”
Archer nodded in agreement to his twin, “Kest is a thinker more than me.”

The man nodded, it was an excellent way to put it. He led both towards Illictus's part of town. The low security of the Elysian area had been perfect to allow them free range. Not only that, but even if words were to come out on their activities, it wasn't obvious as to who was an innocent, and who wasn't. In the distance, their area was marked by three huge warehouses, housing money, weaponry, food, and miscellaneous equipment they might need. "I like the way you think Kestrel. But as of right now angels rule over this city. It won't last, first New Eden, then Abbadon." The closer they got to the designed areas, the more citizens seemed to recognise and salute Sigeward.

"I have contacts everywhere in the city, even in the military. It wasn't hard, after all humans account for most of the population here, we need nothing more than a solid coordination. Of which I decided to take care." He stopped, smiling at both of them. "I have nothing to ask out of fighters like you but your blade. Of course, if you learn of anything that might come handy to us, information's always appreciated." If their words were to be believed, the older man believed the twins would've probably joined their force anyway had they heard about the uprise in the future.

Archer and Kestrel - The Solstice Colosseum- District of Elysian

Kestrel listened to the man’s words carefully, “Everything sounds good then,” he stated, “Not much in the way of opposition except from those that think they are in charge. Though here is a thought. Often times when it comes to slavery, the master is weaker than the slave. This tends to be the case as the master wants something that can do as he wants and protect him till the bitter end. The slave simply believes the master is stronger because he has a broken spirit. Over throwing anything is simply a matter of making the suppressed realize they have the advantage and have had it all along. Only those that love their masters will be a problem.”

Archer gawked at things from his brother’s side. He lingered there like a well trained soldier. In a way he was. Kestrel was the brains or the master while Archer was the brawns or the slave. This sort of relationship was unique as they truly cared deeply for each other and it left them able to destroy their enemies with little disagreement if any.
