Hello! If you have any questions or are interested at all in this roleplay please send me a PM or post on this thread or the other!!

Brief Disclaimer
This shouldn't be considered political in any way, I am simply using the situation in the middle east as a base for a future scenario. I know the likelihood of something like this happening is slim to none, it should be taken with a little creative license and a pinch of salt, in the way all creative works are. Please don't label it as unrealistic or anything like that, the whole point of this is it is a possible scenario, in a modern realistic setting, and one of the main factors is that the faction you will play as are entirely seperate from established governments etc so yeah.

Backstory

It is January 1st, 2020. The world has been plunged into chaos, stemming from the war on terror and the subsequent refugee crisis, the result of the destabilization of middle eastern and African countries. At the end of 2017, the Syrian civil war ended in a government-rebel peace treaty, and a free election. The election never happened. While the coalition pushed ISIS back in Iraq, they gained ground in Syria, gaining support from discontented rebel and government forces alike, unhappy with the outcome. Syria was overrun, and taken back into a state of civil war and anarchy. Next, with weakening support at home in coalition countries, and elections in the EU resulting in drastic policy changes, coalition forces began to weaken their military support in Iraq and the middle east in general. It was plunged into anarchy, the only states to survive were Saudi Arabia, Israel and Iran.

In 2019, several veterans of various nations militaries, banded together after seeing the futility of the fight their countries were pursuing. They chose a different path. They called themselves the Wardens, guardians of the weak, the powerless, and the persecutors of the unjust and immoral. They have shrugged off their old, national allegiances, in favor of a new one. The Wardens, elite warriors, formed from the core of most armies on the planet, with one goal in mind - peace through force. They see no other recourse, and they will give no quarter. These veterans, a small group of 20, had no base, little equipment and money, and no support. So they waited, and watched, timing their moment carefully. It came in mid 2019, when Saudi Arabia was attacked by insurgents, and on the brink of collapse. These men stepped in, now numbering 40. Through their contacts in their old militaries, the procured transport to the country and fought back the insurgency by using guerrilla tactics against them. After the battle of Riyadh, the insurgents were pushed back into the desert and adjacent countries. The Wardens pursued ruthlessly, hunting them down and taking their weapons, equipment and whatever money and supplies they could. After a month of this, they returned to the capital they had saved. They explained their predicament, and the Saudi's gave them money and arms, and a small plot of land in northern Saudi Arabia. A radical solution to a radical problem. Only the highest members of the worlds governments knew of their existence, and most ignored them, writing them off as a rogue PMC group, taking advantage.

The leaders knew now what they had to do. On their plot of land, they built a small compound, calling in whatever favours they could, begging and stealing for everything they could get. Now they have a couple helicopters, an arsenal of weapons and enough supplies to keep them going for as long as they need. They keep recruiting, and everytime they complete a mission they get more money, from locals donating to their services, from things they steal from the enemy and sometimes governments and groups donating, hoping they will be visited again by the Wardens.

Who are The Wardens?

The elite of the world's militaries, at the beginning of 2020, they number about 80 soldiers and 40+ support staff, ranging from mechanics and engineers to medics and pilots. You don't apply to join their ranks, you are picked by their recruiters throughout the world. They find you after exceptional gallantry, heroism and bravery. These values, coupled with the morals of wanting to do good, make you a Warden. They have a compound in north Saudi Arabia, and operate throughout the world, when they can get transport. They have two helicopters, and a dozen vehicles, mostly MRAPs and jeeps.

How the game will work
Thanks for reading this far!! So basically I will function as the game master for this roleplay, and I will decide what missions and opportunities become available, and I will describe the actions of the enemy for the most part. The players will be free to decide among themselves where to go, how to accomplish their objectives and what equipment they use. There will be many opportunities to forge relationships with constantly evolving factions in the world, gain funding and fight in varied environments. There will also, of course, be a massive emphasis on character interaction at the base and in mission, as the team will rely on eachother.

Character Sheet
Name:
Nickname:
Gender:
Age:
Remember you're all elite in your field. You're not likely to be teenagers or 70+. Most realistic age bracket will be somewhere between 24 and maybe 40/50, with some exceptions. For example support personnel (medics, engineers, pilots) are more likely to be older, whereas front line combatants will have an advantage from being younger, so are more likely to be the frontline. However with enough justification just about any age is acceptable for any specialty/class.
Nationality: The country that your character originates from.
Languages Spoken: Most characters will speak English and all will have at least a basic understanding of it, because special operations forces usually get training in English, as well as other languages (including their native one obviously).

Race:
E.g. African-American, Caucasian etc.
Build: Light, medium and heavy. Will affect some aspects, such as how fast a character is or how quick a character is.
Description: A brief description of your character and how they look, a few sentences will do it, with any distinctive scars or other features.

Class/Specialty: The class or thing they specialize in, for example being a medic or a machinegunner. This will effect what proficiencies are allowed, and how effective your character is in certain roles. For example, a rifleman won't be able to fly a fighter jet, but a medic will have a much higher chance of saving someone from a life threatening injury.
Proficiency: The guns your character is best with, and what skills they have, effected by their class/specialty. You can have up to 4 of these, for example a medic with the proficiency: First aid, surgery, rifles and negotiation. These skills can be pretty much anything positive, and will have an effect on every decision that you and your allies take in game.

Equipment:
T
he equipment your character has and carries into battle. Such as an M4 rifle, armour (this includes bulletproof vest, helmet etc as these are standard battle gear), medkits, extra ammo and food, NVGs, things like that. Anything you can think of. However, take into account how much these things each weigh, and your characters body type. They will slow you down.
Weapons: The weapons your character carries into battle. Remember that in real war, soldiers carry one large weapon and often one sidearm, depending on your class. For example, snipers often carry a sniper rifle and submachinegun, whereas riflemen carry a rifle and a handgun, and pilots often only carry a submachine gun.

Former unit(s) and combat experience:
The former units your character has served with. This is impacted by your nationality, e.g. Russian's might serve in the Spetnaz, but only in exceptional circumstances would foreigners be allowed to serve in their ranks in any capacity. Some special forces have differing policies on this, so doing your research is advised. Also what combat have they take n part in? You are encouraged to consider conflicts which could have taken place in the dystopian future. For example, did your soldier fight in Egypt, as it fell?
Rank (In former unit): This will depend in some part on the special forces for example US Navy Seals use naval ranks whereas most others use army ranks. Again, if you're unsure ask or look it up.

Personality:
A few sentences describing your character as a human being, what they like and dislike, how they act and talk.

History: A paragraph at least, and however long you want to make it, about your character's childhood and their life, as well as their more recent history and how they came to join The Warden's.

To you guys
Hi there thanks for reading this all. If you're interested please just comment or PM me, and feel free to post your character sheet or any questions as well!

A few questions.
1. If they are being written off as a rouge PMC, wouldn't they have attempts made to stop them from foreign powers? And with that how does the group handle diplomacy and relations with other factions?
2. Will the RP be primary within the vicinity of their main operations base? As in, I'm thinking about making a character specializing in logistics and getting equipment for the group, such as vehicles and guns (with a few combat instances of course as deals go wrong or what not) but that would possibly mean being based around Russia or Europe, maybe even South America to secure these assets.
3. Will this be primarily focused around combating Islamic extremists such as ISIS? Or will other things arise as well, such as drug cartels or maybe even combating a nation itself.

@Littlemankitten I will attempt to answer your questions one by one (the easiest way to do so I think).

1. The political climate of this roleplay means that most nations are much less inclined to get involved with foreign affairs, so (at least at the beginning) they won't take too much notice of the Warden's for the first few months or so, as they have more of an impact on the world, people will begin to notice them. How a government reacts and interacts with the Warden's will depend on what they've done, for example if they've taken down terrorist groups, they will be looked favorably upon, unless those terrorists were in fact state sponsored freedom fighters, in which case this will illicit a negative response from some, and a positive response from others.
The group has a small but determined diplomacy team, which (through contacts, spies etc) finds missions for the Warden's and also communicates with governments and groups to procure equipment, supplies etc and also recruit new members.

2. The roleplay will be a 50/50 split between the main base in Saudi Arabia, and the missions the Warden's go out on. This is obviously subject to change as the roleplay will be highly fluid, so you might be in the base 80% of the time one week, and outside of it 90% of the time the next. For your character, it is entirely possible that they could either be based in other places or travel to different locations to gain equipment, and the deals made would be just as important as the actual missions. It is also possible that you'd go along with the combat missions to look for contacts, loot supplies etcm or assist in a support and communications role back base or something like that. It is essentially up to you.

3. While ISIS was the main contributing factor to the fall of the middle east, they are by no means the only player. You will be fighting dozens of different enemies, from Islamic Extremists, to terrorists and anarchists in developed countries, to warlords fighting for territory and to drug smugglers and cartels. It is highly conceivable that you will fight almost any enemy you can think of, and this again will evolve with the roleplay and the decisions the players make

Thanks for your interest and I hope that this helped answer your questions!! Feel free to ask for clarification or ask any other questions!

Alright, those answered my questions pretty well. So basically the beginning of the will be pretty linear as to its focus, but past the beginning it is entirely possible we'll become terrorists ourselves. ...hmm that gives me a idea... ah well, guess I'll make a char sheet cause I'm pretty interested. :p

Character Sheet
Name:
Camilla Marit
Nickname:
Raider
Gender:
Female
Age: 28
Nationality: Norway
Languages Spoken: English, Norwegian, Swedish, Russian

Race:
Caucasian
Build: Light
Description: She is very willowy, being rather skinny and standing at a rather imposing 6' 4". She is weak yet fast and flexible, able to fit through tight spaces despite her height and can outrun most adversaries. She has blond hair and blue eyes, with a triangular, long face. Her eyes are wide and owl-like with a average nose. She usually has a more calm demeanor, able to look calm and composed even when she isn't. She would be considered beautiful by many, and she uses this to her advantage.

Class/Specialty: Logistics specialist
Proficiency: Not really good with guns herself, only able to defend herself with a small 9mm pistol, she is not suited for front line combat. Instead, she uses her looks and perception to help the wardens gain resources. She has a keen eye for fine details, and is able to judge most peoples moods, except for the most poker faced associates. She is also trained to look for escape routes at any location, and is able to reach those routes fast should things get nasty, however, that is among her only saving graces in combat. She is adept at seduction, though wont use it under most circumstances, instead, she uses her face reading and charisma to get assets secured, and knowing when the deal is going south.

Equipment:
9mm pistol, civilian clothing, 1 tear gas grenade, 1 gas mask, 1 knife
Weapons: 1 9mm pistol, 1 knife

Former unit(s) and combat experience:
Forsvarets Spesialkommando. She served with the Norwegian special forces, working with other nations to secure more.. less regarded assets (dirty bombs, weapons of mass destruction, etc.) away from the usual areas of exchange to minimize knowledge of the transaction. This was being done in case chaos were to break out around the world with the situation in the middle east and elsewhere, Norway was a small country that needed to defend itself as well, regardless of treaties and ethics. Camilla was among the top negotiators and deal finders. Always knowing where to look to find the asset her country was looking for, and how to get it. Sure a lot of deals went bad and in a few cases she got shot at, but back then she has a squad of combat units from the same agency to help her, how, perhaps not.
Rank (In former unit): Would be considered a captain in terms of importance, but in reality would have less experience then a private in actual combat.

Personality:
As a master negotiator and deal finder, she has quite the poker face, while not perfect, under normal circumstances almost no one will be able to read her from her face. From this, she has little in the way of friends or friendship making, always seeing people as another thing to overcome in the grand scheme of things, she can be seen as a bit cold-hearted and jaded. This is also supported by her complete lack of empathy for most, seeing death as a fact of life as sure as the next sunrise, she sees little fuss in death. However, she does immensely care for the safety and power of her comrades, seeing the deals not so much just another job, but as a way to make sure her comrades can live another day and have an increased chance in success. She makes sure that the deal goes right not just for her or for the deal, but so her comrades wont have to engage in a shootout, possibly resulting in their deaths. And while she will not care about their death itself, she does care about preventing it. (more personality will be revealed as the RP goes on)

History: She had a rather normal childhood, growing up in Oslo and graduating top of her class, she was swiftly put under the gaze of the Norwegian special forces, for her ability to negotiate with her teachers, classmates and co-workers during her first high-school job. Able to diffuse most aggressive situations and actually help improve profits for her workplace. at the age of 20 she was recruited into the special forces, and was trained further in the ability to negotiate, this is also were she developed her keen sense for finding deals. Her job for the next 7 years was mostly making sure Norway's neighbors were happy and working with criminals to free hostages, her success rate in that was .002 hostages killed per criminal captured or killed. it wasn't until she was 25 that Norway actual employed more frowned upon deals to help secure its safety. Once again she displayed a remarkable talent in securing these assets and having little failure rate, when she was 27, she joined the wardens after Norway's position turned once more back to peace in a time were she knew it would never come. So, she joined the wardens in a hope to further help the safety of the world, and her home country. A year in, she soon found the job to be harder then expected, she expected mostly criminals of the nature she usually found them in back in Norway. However, she was used to more civilized and death-fearing people, she worked with corporations and other nations, civilized meetings, and even with the criminals, it was a remarkably civilized negotiation, but her, she was put to the test. She worked with cartels and underground groups to secure the assets needed to wage war, she would go into dark and dreary places alone, to talk with people who had little to fear from her. She would negotiate with people who didn't fear death, and indeed hated people like her, only working with her out of necessity. She got on of the Warden's only helicopters by going to a drug cartel in central America, surrounded by thugs and sentries, with no reinforcements to her name, and while she said it was her skill, it was mostly luck that she convinced them to give the Wardens the helicopter, as they were in a very rough spot and had little leverage to make counter-negotiations. Only with the promise of security and cooperation could she get it. And she knew she would face even rougher challenges now, securing even harder deals, in even more dangerous places, she would have to steel herself for whats to come.

If I was GM you would need 50x more detail, its very rushed and short, not a good app imo

Hi there!!!! Great to have more interest in this roleplay and i welcome you aboard!! I like your app, but here are one of two things id like to point out. For example while it is possible for people with no military experience to join the wardens, they have to have some form of combat experience to qualify if they haven't been in he military. So include a bit more backstory, why has he joined the wardens, what groups has he fought? Stuff like that.

Another thing is like to see more of is a little more history, for example how did he learn to have such a good memory, why was it necessary etc. Littlemankittens app is a good example of this, where his character has their negotiation abilities through her military experience and trainimg, and has clear motivate Dr joining he wardens.

Apart from these small details, a generally good app just needs a bit of a touch up!! Take your time to really build up the character sheet and backstory. Remember too that no character in game will low your person's backstory without asking them, so stuff like that on team character sheet is considered PIC information. I look forward to the resubmission of your app :)
