Do you join new member's RP's?

I'm new here and haven't been able to find or start an RP with anyone. I'm worried its because I'm new to the forums and I'm being blown off because of that. So, I started this thread to see if I'm right (hopefully wrong). It's ok if you or a few more don't join new member's RP's, just be...

    True horror in a story?

I LOVE HORROR I always have. Which always made me beg the question: What is TRUE HORROR in a story/RP??? To me, it depends on the writers/readers themselves and the content. What we all find scary is either common or subjective and we are all individually affected by our fears differently...

    The Twist

I love plot twists! Especially if it contains answers to the most important questions in the story. The feeling I get when the answers finally come to me with a surprise gives me goosebumps! In roleplay, its even better because I love engaging my own characters into good mysteries.

    Fantasy Lovers

My big sister, mother and I love to share our love for Fantasy! Years ago, me and my mom traded books to see what we though of each other's tastes. She traded a fantasy book and I traded a horror book. We both loved each other's books. XD I found out how much I loved creatures of the genera and...

    How Long...

I usually write one to two paragraphs too. Just enough to put details and emotions into my work. If I need to do shorter or longer I will depending on the RP/story.

Why do people like (only) romance roleplays?

I HIGHLY agree. My signature is true statement. I "never" put down any. ;)

Why do people like (only) romance roleplays?

I think I know but could just be assuming things. I think they are popular because the roleplayers themselves want the same things (in their stories) to happen to them in real life. They want a movie-ish romance but can only live in their fantasy worlds through RP... Or they are just suckers for...

I am asking this because I may create unlikable characters on purpose

If the author gives the characters good/interesting reasons to be horrible I might read the whole thing. If the characters are edgy just for the sake of it then no I wouldn't finish the book.

Books and/or writers that have helped you

No problem! This is a very interesting thread to make. I highly recommend any of King's larger stories. They are definitely skin crawling. Junji Ito is a popular horror manga artist who really knows how to draw from his demented imagination. R.L. Stein is a scary children's book author who...

Books and/or writers that have helped you

Steven King, R.L. Stein and Junji Ito are all horror writers that helped me get the feel of creepiness in certain subjects. They also helped me learn to pace myself in building up to really scary parts. I owe them some gratitude for my inspirations for OCs!

What do you want to avoid during a RP?

Almost everything mentioned in OP and in the comments are what I tried to avoid in the past. Sense I haven't written a big roleplay in a while, its nice to refresh my memory about what people still dislike.

What is your greatest weakness as a role player?

I tend to not speak up when I don't like the way the other roleplayer is acting in or out of the story. I try to be as polite as I can and avoid conflict.
