Chronicles of the Omniverse

Chronicles of the Omniverse
is an open sand-box roleplay for people of all RP interests and skill levels. We have a number of established players already, so the RP has a solid start and a diverse range of settings to support bringing in new players.

The Omniverse is a bit more structured than some sand-box RPs, and it contains many well developed regions and groups of players driving a wide variety of plot-lines and stories. These stories take place on all tiers of life from small character driven stories centralized to a specific region, all the way on up to over-arcing galactic storylines that span entire worlds. There are medieval fantasy realms, modern nations, space-faring sci-fi empires, and everything in between.

The RP itself is maintained not by a specific GM, but by the players themselves who are free to continue to add and contribute their own lore and creations the world. It is very much a group project.

If you find the number of threads and settings in the Omniverse to be a bit daunting this is because the playstyle of Chronicles of the Omniverse is a little different than a lot of people are familiar with. How it works is that each thread represents an in game location, and you RP by moving from thread to thread as your character moves around the Omniverse.

Due to the somewhat overwhelming scope of the roleplay we take a very hands on approach with introducing new players into the roleplay so as to ease them into it slowly rather than expecting new players to figure out all of the ins and outs at once. Just PM me your interest and we can go from there.

Since we re-use this thread to post advertisements for specific plots within this RP, I'm adding a list of links to all the recruitment posts in this thread.

Note: We have had a VERY large influx of people interested in joining the Omniverse. This is 100% fine and we more than welcome ALL interest. It DOES however mean that there may be a brief wait period to get new people integrated in smoothly as we work on expanding areas to accommodate larger numbers of players. Some areas have a longer wait period than others, and some have no wait period at all. If you have a specific area or areas in mind let me know and I can help get you into contact with the right people to speed you along as quickly as possible. For some of our more popular regions, see the contact list below to help avoid any unnecessary waiting.
  • If you're trying to join Lutetia, please send a message to @Sentry.

  • If you're trying to join Westeria City there is a mid-level wait period with some new stuff about to open up soon to accommodate a much larger influx of players. PM myself your interest and we'll try to get you coordinating with other players as quickly as able.

New Players Needed for Westeria City!

We're looking for players interested in diving into a mixed genre city with a post apocalyptic feel to it. Abandoned by its government and suffering from a severe case of planar instability Westeria City and the surrounding Midlands have fallen to anarchy and chaos. Untold monsters prowl the streets of the city and the surrounding countryside while pocket groups of civilization try to hold out against all odds.

Given the unstable nature of the region and the planar rifts and mixed genres, this is a great place for new players to dive in. One can hop IC right away without needing to be overly familiar with history via any of the planar rifts, or if anyone wants to make a local character then I'm more than happy to help anyone get situated with any information they need to start out.

Just shoot Tiko a PM if you want to join us in Westeria City, and here's a fuller description of the city for those interested

The Elysian Vanguard

Bound together by a common cause, the Elysian Vanguard grew to its prime at the peak of the Orsa of Terminus' rise to power. With its sworn foe defeated these legendary warriors have scattered across Valore to resume their lives, but old ties are not easily severed. With a kinship forged through blood and sacrifice, perhaps these champions of old only await a time when Valore might have need of their strength once more, a time where one might call them back.

The call has been sounded across the realm for those with a heroes heart. Whether you be old, young, veteran, novice, or wayward soul in need of new beginnings, all with the seed of a champion within them will feel the tug of the resonating call. The compulsion to seek out the temple from your dreams calls you northward into the icy peaks of Terra, to the Elysian Vanguard stronghold.

It is the same dream as last night, and the night before, and the night before that. You stand atop an icy ridge surveying the far reaches of the land that stretch for miles upon miles. At your back a regal temple stands sentinel, both tall and proud with its banner flying high. The cold chill of the wind bites at your skin with unrelenting fury, but strength hardens your heart for the coming storm. The realm cries out for champions, for those who can weather the perils they will face in the days to come.

A voice reaches you upon the wind carrying the strength of the mountains in its resonating words.

'The Champions gather.'

---

We're currently looking for new players to add to the ranks of the Elysian Vanguard. The order in question has a very strong fantasy orientation, and is a great place for new players to ease into the RP due to its flexibility regarding character origins.

If this sort of role would interest you, then please contact Tiko via PM. The Omniverse can be a bit daunting to new players, and we would be happy to assist you with getting acclimated.

Lutetia

Currently looking for players interested in filling all roles within Lutetia from the urban werewolf packs, to vampires, to law enforcement, church, and more. The following is a brief description of the setting.

Lutetia_zpsc7f0a0db.png
Lutetia is a small, impoverished city state, but despite its impoverished nature, Lutetia has carved a name for itself for its artful and fashionable community. Lutetian art, music, fashion and cuisine are world renowned, and its rich historical background make Lutetia a marvel to scholars and historians alike.

For those living within Lutetia though, a very different picture is painted. Most of the wealth within Lutetia is concentrated into the hands of the small upper class, while the rest of the populace is left to live in squalor. Disease and illness run rampant in the poorer regions of Lutetia, and crime rates are record high.

Lutetia is ripe with supernatural elements as well. Urban werewolf packs run rampant through the streets of the cities, and vampires have staked a claim to the night. Necromancy, witchcraft, and wizardry are a thing of the norm among the populace, and an underground struggle wages between the Evêquec church and the supernaturals. Mercenary groups have risen to prominence within these internal conflicts, and their numbers can oft be found widespread throughout Lutetia.

---

If interested in joining us in Lutetia, PM Tiko.
For more information on Lutetia, see our Lutetia group thread.

The Monastic Order

tumblr_o1y2jmWUf81qkgr2ko1_1280.png

"Lutetia City - a grey, gothic metropolis, a city made of stone and glass and blood. It stands a pale monolith amid the gloomy wildlands of Issunar, a bastion of order and humanity in a continent ruled by the untamed dark. A thousand years ago, our people walked these lands as cattle; slaves existent to serve and feed a cadre of pitiless monsters. Families, towns, entire cities were left exiled from their homes, a proud people turned to refugees shivering in the mountains. Then came Selene. She taught them the blade. She showed them the light. And before the forest of Lornaine, she led the first paladins in open battle against the darkness, consecrating the foundations of this city in the blood of man and monster.

A millenium later and the city has changed. Human and inhuman live as dubious citizens within its borders. Selene's church, once the ruling power in this megalopolis, has given way to a Lutetian state, a government which dilutes the creeds and laws of our order with secularism and plutocracy. They tell us the world is different than it was. The wolf is our friend. The blooddrinkers are defeated. The demons, if they ever were real, have gone back to the Wyrm, and the last of the golems was destroyed an age ago. Now is the time for peace and kinship, they say. We don't need paladins anymore.

How wrong they were.

Whatever they tell us we are - federal agent, obedient soldier, glorified police officer - we know where we stand. We are paladins of the Monastic Order, warrior-servants of the Holy Wick. Our duty is to mankind, to guard it, protect it, defend it from the host of abominations that even now seek to swallow it whole. Oaths we've sworn to this city, to its people, and I intend to keep them. Come what darkness may, my faith is strong. The light shall overcome. Any among you who have not forgotten your vows, follow me. This war ends tonight." --Sir Damien Arodring

---

tumblr_o1y42rJGPj1qkgr2ko1_400.png

The Monastic Order is the militant arm of the Evêquec Church, the dominant religious institution in Lutetia. For 800 years, the noble paladins of the Order defended mankind from all manner of evil, wielding gun and blade in the name of Saint Selene and the Holy Wick. Though the rise of the Lutetian state saw the church removed from its place of legislature, the Monastic Order retained their role as the city's protectors along with the local police force.

Equal parts law enforcement officer, detective, monster hunter and religious puritan, the paladins and clerics of the Monastic Order are paragons of their faith. Committed to protecting Lutetia and its citizens, they train their bodies and minds to peak performance and wield some of the most advance technology and weaponry in the city. To be a member of this prestitigious institution is to live a life of sacrifice and piety - members are forbidden from marrying, owning private property or hold a political office. They spend their whole lives pursuing the goals of their Order. The only relief is death or exile.

---

Roleplayers interested in the Monastic Order should decide which aspect of the Order they want to participate in:

The Paladins and Clerics - A grimdark, ultraviolent RP centered around the investigations of the fully-trained operatives of the Monastic Order and their never-ending quest to protect mankind from evil. Expect detective-style RP, frequent combat and a high probability of character death.

The Proselytes - A coming-of-age RP focused on the next generation of paladins and clerics. Write for a proselyte in the Monastic Academy in Lutetia, studying with a colorful and diverse peer group to become one of the city's righteous defenders. RP is generally less intense and less grimdark with a focus on daily student life rather than criminal investigations and monster hunting.

---

If interested, PM Ronin, Script or Tiko.

For more information on the Monastic Order, see its group page.

For more information on Lutetia, see its group page.

Isiria

___

Isiria. Home of the free and land of the financially fortunate. This nation is comprised of several populated star systems within the Aurora nebula - though equality is a word that failed to take root in their vision of unification and prosperity. Isiria suffers a large class division between the wealthier citizens that make their home on the central planets - and those frequently scraping a living of drudgery and labor on the outer planets.

The central planets of Isiria are characterized by sprawling cities, flickering lights, low crime rate, advanced medical care, and pristine lakes devoid of pollution. It all comes with a price though, and for those who can't pay it there is the Kreios system.

Largely frontier land, civilization on the outer planets is frequently hard and devoid of the proper medical care and law enforcement. Though that is not to say that life on the outer planets is unbearable for everyone. For many it is far more favorable to live without the comforts of the central planets so they can live free of the scrutiny and control of the government.

Further adding to the division of the Isirian people are heavy regulations on weaponry. With much of advanced Isirian technological developments restricted to the hands of the government and military, the outer planets are out-gunned and out-supplied. Potential uprisings are largely stemmed before they can even begin.

Aelora

New players needed for a high fantasy, D&Desqe region of the Omniverse. We will be opening new storylines and plots all across Aelora, so this is a great place for new fantasy oriented players to hop into the Omniverse alongside other new arrivals. The following is a description into the setting for those interested.

Aelora is a land forgotten. Legend tells of a blight known only as The Void that spread through Aelora two millenia ago. As nation after nation fell the last of the Aeloran races joined together to seal Aelora away in a final effort to contain the blight from spreading to other continents of Valore. A veil was erected and Aelora was lost to time and memory.

For two millenia the veil held and none could enter nor leave Aelora, and for two millenia the war with the void raged on. Nations were shattered, races driven into extinction, and what survivors remained retreated into mountain strongholds until the tides were turned with the return of the legendary Elysian Vanguard.

With the blight driven back the races of Aelora have stepped forward to reclaim their ancestral homes, but they aren't alone. With the passing of time the veil that separates Aelora from worlds beyond has begun to fray. Crossroads, or points at which the veil is weakest, have begun to form. These crossroads are typically places of power with high concentrations of magical energies that serve as temporary gateways between Aelora and the realms beyond. Should one happen upon one of those crossroads they might find themselves within this fantastical land of myth and legend. A crossroads can appear at any location within the realms and often one does not know when or where a crossroads will appear, or for how long it will remain.

Due to the high concentration of both void and fey magic within the lands of Aelora, both the flora and the fauna of the continent have been greatly influenced to give birth to all manner of fantastical species exclusive to this unique landscape.

New Storytellers Needed

We're currently in the process of expanding the Omniverse world and we're seeking new players interested in taking on the role of storytellers. A storyteller is someone with the inspiration and drive to push new story and to drive plot lines within the Omniverse.

If you're a player who has a really great idea for an RP but is apprehensive about single-handedly bearing the work load that goes with it, then this just might be ideal for you. If you're the kind of person who has piles of ideas but struggles to get their RPs off the ground, or is routinely faced with their RPs fizzling out a few weeks after starting, then this could be just what you're looking for.

You would have the support, stability, and player base of the Omniverse to draw upon with building your stories as well as the assistance of the Omniverse GMs in ensuring your stories have a solid chance to thrive and prosper.

We welcome people interested in running storylines within our existing worlds as well as people interested in bringing their own worlds to the Omniverse. We have numerous settings spanning multiple genres, but there's plenty of room to add more settings as players create them.

If interested, please shoot Tiko a PM.

THE VAN LEUGEN GAZETTE
The Most Trusted Name In News

Can You Fight Crime In Van Leugen?

Written by Clark Banks.

We here at the Gazette have been wondering if it can be done. If it can at least be done without losing yourself to the evil that plagues this city. I grew up in Van Leugen to a poor family in The Nillies. Back before it became truly infested by corruption and gangsters.

My father was a union man. A working man. He did construction work on Strangeland, one of the most popular nightclubs in Van Leugen back then and even today. We were told by the mayor at the time that nightclubs would bring jobs. My mother could become a waitress at one of those clubs. Celebrities would show up, modeling agents would see my sister and give her a job.

We would attract tourists, build hotels and an amusement park. I wouldn't have to be poor anymore. I believed in that. I really did.

Until the day I saw my father stand up to the mobsters refusing to pay him and his people fairly for their work. They beat my dad. They beat him to a pulp and everyone stood there and watched. They were too afraid of these men and women backed by more powerful men and women.

My dad gave up after that. He turned to drinking at Strangeland. Then drugs at Strangeland. Then another woman at Strangeland. And then he never left Strangeland. He's probably a ghost of his former self haunting that wicked place right now.

The construction of Strangeland was only the first sign of things to come for Van Leugen. It attracted more than new business, it attracted criminals and those who would take advantage of the poor.

Our city looks so clean, but it has a dark side. I can't help but believe there is a portal to some Hellscape buried right beneath this city. Maybe there's a curse on this land. Did someone's ancestor piss off a witch or two?

That has to be it. Magic. Evil magic. That's the only thing that explains this city. The only thing that explains why the courts ruled the trial of Tiberius Grayson, serial killer and child rapist, a mistrial and let him walk. The prosecution even dropped the charges.

A little girl went missing soon after. His latest victim, I believe.

Our new mayor, Mathias Wheeler, is attempting to change this city. He even appointed a new chief of police to help him do so. Knowing what I know, what we all know, I can't help but believe this is a fight he can't possibly hope to win.

Between the gangs, the corruption, the deaths, I think Van Leugen would be better off nuked from orbit. Not exactly the most unbiased thing for a journalist to say, I know, but, I think I've given up. I can not keep reporting on the crime and corruption in my city.

It took a lot of thought, but I have decided to resign from my position and leave this city behind me.

I hear Windcrest is nice this time of year.

________

Van Leugen is a location in the Omniverse that is without a genre. It's a mix of many different things together. The closest it has to a genre is a thematic tone of noir, a focus on crime, corruption, and those who embrace it, fight it, or just accept it for what it is.

And then there's Van Leugen itself, a character in it's own right. Perfect for those interested in a slice of life crime noir.

MIGHTY URUGAR - PLAYERS NEEDED

Orc soldiers with darkened faces enter a tavern. With one hand clutching their swords, they glare at the other races, electing not to speak during their trek. It was clear to see they were tired, but they will not be resting here despite their perilous adventures. Nothing about their demeanor makes you think they consider you a ‘friend’, or that you should to them.

After they post up a large sheet of paper to the interior wall, they leave as quickly as they came.

FOREIGN WARRIORS AND MONSTER-HUNTERS

The great Kezh Uruk’sh declares hereby a call to all monster-hunters and mighty warriors of Aelora to slay a Great Beast known simply as ‘Skeerch’ in the fair and prosperous land of Mighty Urugar – His Greatness demands the safety of his people!

For this courageous act of selflessness, upon the successful return of the beast’s unblemished head, the slayer will be given twelve pounds of gold in Imperial Pence.

The wretched beast may be found on the northern border of His Greatness’ Kingdom, on the northern tip of the Devils Back Mountains in the woods of Kul. MAKE NO EYE CONTACT AT ALL COST. The creature appears to be insectoid, recognizable by its considerable size.

HIS GREATNESS - KEZH URUK’SH

---
Mighty Urugar is a small, distopian/totalitarian nation in Aelora natively inhabited by Orcs. It is a dangerous and cruel place where the powerful few receive whatever they want - and the poor feel the pinch. Be weary of entering; poor and rich alike share a fear and hatred of the foreign interloper, and border are open now only to rid themselves of the creature Skeerch. so do not draw attention to yourself...

The United Aschen Empire.

Welcome to the Empire, the beacon of civilization within the Onyx Galaxy, where the people live in luxury, poverty has been abolished, and the people live in perpetual happiness.

Citizens of the Empire enjoy protection from one of Onyx's strongest militaries, led by the bright and enlightened guidance of Fleet Admiral Shiela Nagala.

Citizens of the Empire enjoy governance by the mighty and cunning Isambard Prince.

193012joinnow.jpg

The Aschen Empire is a vast, expanding civilization of humanity that can trace their roots to the earliest human civilizations of Earth, drawing inspiration from franchises such as Stargate, Battlestar Galactica, and has been described as a mix between Star Trek and 1984, this Doubleplusgood Bellyfeel will no doubt satisfy the craving of the Scifi Roleplayer.

would-you-like-to-know-more.jpg

Interested parties need only contact barney_fife, and can discuss the following stories in need of players.
  • Special Agent Marlene Angel and her team are currently holed up in Van Leugen, with orders to detonate a weapon of mass destruction, I am seeking players willing to play fellow operatives of the Imperial Intelligence Agency, for those seeking a noir, scifi/james bond mashup with a slice of terrorism.
  • The Aschen Empire is planning an invasion of Valore, those interested in playing characters affiliated with the Military should contact barney_fife for placement, the first 10 Players get a free Command Carrier with approval.
  • Corporate and Government intrigue - there are several large and powerful corporations in the Empire in constant struggle with the government.
  • Government - In need of players to play positions in the Imperial Government.
  • Midlands- A Team of Aschen Marines are currently crashed in the Midlands of Valore, and can use players to walk in the footsteps of these brave men and women.
Some quick things to note-
Aschen are polytheistic, believe in the greco-roman pantheon of gods, this religion is the dominant religion in the Empire.
Arrogance -they think they're better than you.
Medicine - Faster, stronger, and with more stamina than your average human.

The Invictus Civil War

In the Invictus, a very prolific mercenary company, sometimes people just don't see eye to eye. Sometimes they agree to disagree, sometimes things get heated, but never do things turn violent.

When you make your profit from war, you know things can get violent at any time. You exercise caution when dealing with strangers, but you trust your own.

But, what happens when you can't trust your own anymore?

Join in telling the story of what happens when the Invictus splits into two rival factions, one lead by Ariadne Kale in favor of a more corporate Invictus more interested in profit, and another lead by Fatin Alfarsi in favor of helping out the little guy, even if it means losing a little money or coming up short, embroiled in a violent conflict for the fate of the organization.

Ariadne, disloyal, not very trusting of the Terran National Government which currently employs the Invictus, and not afraid to get her hands dirty; arranges for Fatin's disappearance and begins manipulating the public to believe she has gone rogue by framing her for murder, terrorism, and selling weapons to all manner of deplorables she can find.

Ariadne paints herself as the savior of not only the Invictus, but of the galaxy at large against threats such as the Aschen Empire, in an effort to seize control. Unconvinced by her words, several members of the Invictus side with Fatin and decide to go rogue in order to find her and expose Ariadne as the fraudster she truly is.

Knowing full well that if the Loyalists succeed she could face life in prison, Ariadne sends her own people to hunt them down, using anyone she can deceive or anyone sinister enough to make deals with her.

Contact Saarai if you would like to take part in this story. Below are some more specific, but still very open, archetypes I'm looking for to be part of the storyline:

- Invictus members: The organization is going to be falling apart, different branches and members need to choose their sides or figure out what they'll do when the shit hits the fan.

- Mercenaries: Can't bring down a group of trained soldiers and freelancers without... a group of trained soldiers and freelancers.

- Assassins/Hitmen: Always need a professional killer or two. Or three.

- Civilians: Not everyone involved has to be some form of trained badass. Always room for the untrained badasses too. They can be friends, family, or allies of those characters involved. Maybe just people in the wrong place at the wrong time.

- Law Enforcement: Protect and serve some people. With guns, batons, and pepper spray. And maybe help round up the fugitive Invictus for investigation out of a sense of duty, a promotion, or because they're on Ariadne's payroll.

Growing up in Van Leugen, Andreas Hart had to do whatever he could to survive the violent crime ridden city. He joined a gang by name of the Rockford Drive Villains, selling drugs and taking part in multiple burglaries. At 15, he found himself becoming father to a baby girl, Natasha, and then a single father a little more than a year later.

He dove deeper into crime to support his daughter, doing anything he could to provide a better life for her than he had. It didn't work at first. Andreas was arrested for a violent time and sentenced to several years in prison.

After being paroled, he made a choice to leave crime behind and go legitimate for the sake of his daughter. Andreas got a job at a Van Leugen restaurant and made sure he was constantly in Natasha's life.

Given the opportunity to buy the restaurant, he went from bank to bank looking for loans and was rejected each time.

Frustrated, Andreas made a hard choice. He decided to get the money by any means, by robbing the banks.

He took initiative and put out word on the streets, coming across a few like-minded individuals to pull off the jobs with.

Unbeknownst to him, happy endings didn't come so easily. Especially when money was involved.

As they say, it's the root of all evil.

________

The Root Of Evil is a crime based storyline taking place in the Chronicles of the Omniverse roleplay that follows a group of heisters including the aforementioned Andreas Hart, and a group of state-sponsored Aschen terrorists.

I'm in search of two, or three, more player to round out the heist team, as well as those willing to play law enforcement that are intent on stopping them, or other criminals intent on making their own gains using the team.

If anyone is interested or has any questions, feel free to contact Saarai.
