Name: Azayla Aquus

Race: Siren

Age: 22

Gender: Female

Description: Azayla, known as Az or Aza to those who are close to her, has developed over time the ability to morph some of the typical characteristics a member of her species would have through the intermediate levels of instability she experiences through her mutations. Most sirens have a tail that looks like a hybrid of those found on dolphins mixed with betta fish. The colours and shapes of tails vary and are specialized between individuals in such a way that they are almost as unique as fingerprints. Most sirens have streaks of the same matching colours of their tail within their hair and slight webbing between their fingers. Azayla in particular has waist-length, curly blonde hair with prominent turquoise streaks. Her tail is mostly silver-grey but reflects with a turquoise mother-of-pearl glint when light touches the scales. Her eyes are a bright blue-green framed by long lashes set in a tanned face. She's slightly smaller in height than an average human and behind her ears lies flaps of skin with which she protects her gills if she is not within the water. Az is part of a faster-than-usual line of sirens who over many strenuous months, have developed the ability to reduce their tails into legs like that of their human ancestors before the wars changed the world they lived in....a sort of reverse evolution. Through patience and enduring the pain that comes with the process, Azayla is able to walk on land. Sirens are not to be confused with mermaids. Depending on the tendencies of the shoal in which familial groups belong, they can be somewhat blood-thirsty and monstrous. All sirens have the desire to consume flesh, it's just that some choose to curb their murderous tendencies rather than give into them. Sirens are war-driven, often fighting other shoals or even other familial groups within shoals in order to acquire possessions, living space or even just respect for the family name they bare. For this reason, Azayla is fairly skilled with the weapon she carries, but is not unstoppable by any means and still has a lot to learn

Personality: Azayla is somewhat quiet but observant. She thinks carefully and analyzes problems effectively before carrying through with any plans of actions. Since her species is slightly reclusive and secretive (owing to the watery depths that separate them from most other species) she comes across as mysterious and conservative because of her upbringing. She protects those she holds dearly, but is willing to offer a friendly smile to any stranger she meets. Her family was one of those that preferred to stay away from the flesh of those that lived on land and so she follows a healthy diet consisting largely of any meat (other than that of the terrestrial humanoid beings) she can find. Seafood does tend to be a favourite of hers though.

Favorite Weapon: Dagger with a bone handle that is simply and not extravagantly inlaid with pearls and tiny shells as well as carved with images of dangerous, mythical sea creatures.

Brief Bio: Through her family line, Azayla has developed a recent ability her relatives and their ancestors have acquired to move from water onto land if they wish. The process is long and arduous but is still somewhat reversible if they wish to return fully to water. Changing to be either on land or in water is however still extremely painful to endure. She separated from her family when she came of the adult age among her people and ventured outward to other lands despite how it displeased her shoal. She found a city half emerged in water, inhabiting the quiet water-ways during the time it took for her to develop her legs and learn to shut the flaps of skin over her gills and instead make use of the lungs that remained as vestigial organs from her human ancestors. She now works near the harbor of the semi-submerged city, running errands and doing odd jobs in order to make the last bit of money she needs to travel around this new unknown world completely different to the one she was raised in.

Additional Info: She wears a small pearl on a short silver chain around her neck, a symbol of the familial group, the Aquus line, which she comes from.

Genetic instability: Intermediate. Not too high nor too low.
