In my romance novel I'm writing, the two main characters end up in a homosexual relationship. Of course, this already brings up issues and obstacles for them to overcome, but the biggest one for Satoshi, an anti-social, extremely shy boy, is his past. And his body constantly reminds him.
In the scene before they break that final barrier in their relationship, Satoshi takes his shirt off to show the other character, Lucas, his scars. His body is covered with them. Burn scars, cut scars, you name it. Satoshi believes that they make him ugly and weak, but Lucas--after overcoming the shock--insists that he is beautiful and strong, especially since he's finally opening up to somebody.
The next scene is where things get difficult for me. After Satoshi finally feels he can fully trust Lucas, he tells him he is ready to go all the way. Now, the parts leading up to sex aren't that bad for me, but I want to write this scene as an emotional and heartfelt moment, not an erotic one. I don't want to use words like "dick" or "fuck". Those really take you out of the mood. If anyone can help with this, please do!
