Rift World Threads
All players have the ability to create threads in the Rift World's forum. Due to their non-continuous nature, and lack of need for them to tie into anything, people are free to create as many as they like and as often as they like. We just ask that you come up with creative/descriptive titles and don't use generic ones. Think book/movie titles rather than 'private roleplay' 'fantasy roleplay' '1x1 roleplay'.
You may choose to have Rift World threads open-join or private. They can have set plot-lines or be open-ended. They can be short one-off roleplays, or long sagas. Whatever people want to do is fine, but each thread should be independent of any other thread(s) in the Rift World's. If you want large inter-connecting stories across multiple threads, see the next section on Shattered Isles story arcs.
What is a Shattered Isles Story Arc?
A Shattered Isles Story Arc is a form of contained but intricate narrative within the Nexus Multi-Genre Guided Sandbox Roleplay, requiring its own contained forum space within the Nexus forums. These are expansive, coherent settings with a defined story-line, although flexible in structure. Given their complexity they can quickly become chaotic, hence we provide separate forum space for each Shattered Isles Story Arc. This enables multiple threads and sub-forums for better organization.
Shattered Isles Story Arcs also grant the Storyteller and co-Storytellers some basic moderator privileges. This includes the ability to create new threads, manage thread tags, and regulate user participation.
What are the rules for Shattered Isles Story Arcs?
- The content must adhere to all Nexus rules.
- Be mindful that Shattered Isles story arcs are intended to be open-join. Please don't exclude players from being able to participate except in situations where too many players have taken an interest in the same arc, but work with them to incorporate them into the Story Arc in a collaboratively fitting way.
- Shattered Isles Story Arcs must maintain a minimum level of activity. If no activity is recorded within a Shattered Isles Story Arc for three months, it will be moved to the archives to clear up the forums.
- An archived Shattered Isles Story Arc can be reinstated at any time at the request of its Storyteller.
- Shattered Isles should be able to accommodate a minimum of 5 players, or a maximum of however many you like. We want to avoid having people create private Shattered Isles arcs that exclude players from joining. Please see the Rift World section for smaller/private roleplay venues.
How do I setup a Shattered Isles Story Arc?
To establish a Shattered Isles Story Arc, simply post an advertisement/sign-up thread in the Nexus Story Arcs forum and when ready, include the following information in the reply to this thread. The Storyteller, or one of us, will get in touch with you as soon as possible.
- The title of your story arc
- A brief 1-2 sentence description of the story arc to be displayed under the name in the forums
- Preferred maximum number of players. Must be willing to accommodate at least 5 people, including yourself. This maximum does not need to be fully filled to start.
- Names of any co-Storytellers you wish to include in your story arc.
- A brief blurb about your story arc for the Nexus admins.
- Your desired Sub-Forum Structure
Here's an example of a Shattered Isles Story Arc form submission. Please note, it's merely an example. The sub-forum structure will vary for every story arc. Ensure you use layered bullets to show which forums will be within which forums.
