Porcelain's Characters, Creatures, and Other Fantastical Creations

Ectovoelen
In summary, ectovoelen are creatures magically created out of a part of one's soul which contains a strong emotion. They are typically made by necromancers, witches and enchanters, but only on rare occasions, as the method required to make one is not well known, inhumane, and exhausting.

They are beings bound to one or more bodies, husked of their spirit and prepared for ethereal attachement. This is not a simple process, as it utilizes the use and entanglement of many advanced spellcrafts and techniques from various forms of magic. Some of those being spiritual sealing, polymorphic projection, advanced runecrafting, auto-evocation, fate linking and zombification. After the process is complete and the ectovoelen is born, it is capable of simultaneously morphing to any forms it had been binded with, whether animate or not. Though ectovoelen can be creatures of great magical power, this is only due to their violently spirivorous nature. They will ruthlessly consume the souls of the innocent, seeking and preying on large, untainted personalities such as those of young adults and courageous children.

Appearance
Ectovoelen are normally completely and beautifully pale white, regardless of if their current form is inanimate or animate. They are typically tangible and have physical bodies. If the body they appear as has fur, hair, or other long and soft parts, they will tend to float and dance around like flowing water due to the intense amount spiritual energy.

In animal and human bodies, the specific methods of zombification used often gives an ectovoelen peculiar features akin to that of some undead. Such features may include misty eyes, unusually sharp nails or claws, and large teeth akin to the blades of daggers or needles. Due to these physical features, ectovoelen can often be mistaken for powerful demons, especially due to their overall rarity and bleached out colouration.

No matter if animate or inanimate in form, an ectovoelen is absurdly unlikely to not have runes or seals decorated across it's body, ranging in density depending on location. If this is not the case, these runes or seals may be either physically or magically hidden.

Diet
Ectovoelen feed on the souls of living creatures. This diet allows them a large and bountiful source of magical energy to draw from, making them intensely powerful magical beings. Though this power is only as strong as it's creator allows it to be, as spells are typically runed into the ectovoelen's various bodies and attached to the its spirit's own magical reserves.

Depending on the allowance of power, ectovoelen diets range from small animals to large and intelligent magical creatures. The most common ground in between being humans and demi-humans. On occasion ectovoelen will be speciliased in feeding on only a few allowed species of soul to increase efficiency and metabolism.

The actual mechanism behind their dieting habbits is made up of a complex series of runes and seals grafted onto the bodies of the ectovoelen. These runes may be located in many locations for various reasons, including but not limited to ethereal conductivity, magical conductivity, alchemical make-up and surface area to work with. Typically the runes will be designed for distanced feeding, up to 5 meters away in the longest cases. Some are designed for touch only for fast and uninteferred with consumption, but this is rare due to survival inconvenience of the ectovoelen. A victim being preyed upon will experience symptons of emotionlessness, hopelessness and weakness in the first half hour of feeding (for 3 meter distanced). After this period, the victim will begin to disintegrate slowly into ash, and unassisted escape will become difficult. After an entire hour, the victim will be no more.

The vague details of how ectoevelen consume souls are as follows. The ectovoelen destructably detaches the soul from the victims body over an hours period of time. This will often cause spectral tearing, a process in which a soul is so stretched out that it begins to rip, with the bonds to its body snapping violently. This causes the body to decay, turning into dust. The torn soul is then fed to the ectovoelen's cannibalistic soul through some of the runes on the body. The ectovoelen's soul envelopes the victim's and the lack of wholeness from the ectovoelen's soul creates a magical vacuum, greedily absorbing mana from the soul of the victim. Once the soul has been completely deprived of all energy, and thoroughly depreciated, it is ejected out of the ectovoelen's body as a mutilated spectral mass. Over time, the victim's soul will heal and replenish to it's original nature. But such a process could take months, and as the previous body will of typically been destroyed, the soul will often never return to it's original owner.

Their diet as well as construction almost categorises ectovoelen as undead. Yet their similarities to golems as well as specters warrant otherwise. This brings them into that awkward classification that tends to be an easy target to misunderstanding, similar to fungi. Neither a plant nor an animal, yet closely related to both.

Removal and Eradication
Ectovoelen are in fact intelligent beings, though their level of sentience is perplexing and some debate may be entirely independant of the individual. It is important that you approach an ectovoelen with extreme caution and great professionalism. If you assume to have found one, evacuate the area immediately and do not allow anybody to come near enough for it to prey. If the ectovoelen had been found in a location previously devoid of human or intelligent contact, such contact may rouse it and stimulate activity. When eradicating or relocating the ectovoelen, only allow the practical minimum number of people to access the site.

Use of wards and protective spells and charms is vital in the handling and/or wrangling of an ectovoelen. Eradication should be carried out using magic dispelling means should they be available. With nothing binding the creature together, it will break apart like a small animal exposed to acid. Banishment, should such a process be necessary, should be carried out using inter-planer techniques. If further investigation and study is deemed necessary, spiritual seals will normally supply adequate containment, whether through runic entrapment or vesseling into a durable object. Most forms of inverse as well as absolute necromancy have no effect on ectovoelen, with few exceptions. For this reason it would be advised not to attempt to use holy water, blessed objects, or any form of undead repellant in the process of eradication or relocation.

DO NOT allow soul imbued objects to be brought near the site, even under proper protection. The unnecessary presence of such objects may rouse the ectovoelen and insight a violent response.

DO NOT attempt to remove the ectovoelen without proper equipment and magical or spiritual understanding. Proper precautions should always be taken lest risk exposing the ectovoelen to the greater community, allowing it to become a lethal threat.

Wonderful, a unique and hazardous creature that bests the Living Cakes and possibly the Chinese Vampires. :)
But is this also for other roleplays apart from RACC?

And if a victim is rescued from a ectovoelen while being disintegrating into ashes, would the parts of the soul sometimes stay within the ectovoelen and the victim left with a few pieces of their soul missing?

And to prevent misunderstanding, I think you should put a note saying that (in RACC at least) souls can be broken, their fragments can be used for harnessing energy, but cannot be destroyed and the soul fragments of the same soul would always react when close to each other?

i will and thank you for bringing to my awareness that i should include the actual process of consuming souls
i think it will be a little different to what you expect but we will see

Madame Silberfuchs

Usual Name(s) : Madame Silberfuchs, Silberfuchs, Sauar
Alias(es) : The Witch of the Summer Islands, The Summer Witch
Full Name(s) : Madame Sauar Silberfuchs

From Terra? Y/N : No

House or Dynasty : Unknown
Current Allegiance : Contract worker
Former Allegiance : Rhaen'yerian Empire

Core Values :

- There is only one true god.
- Under extreme circumstances, extreme measures must be taken. (Extreme being entirely subjective, some would say in a bad way.)

Political Views :
- Order and unity is of upmost importance to a successful society.
- Elias should be united as one, under the culture and traditional ways of the Rhaen'yerian Empire.

Gender : Female
Species/Race : Human
Status : Dead

Birth Date : 191 E.C.
Birth Place : Griffegus, Elias.

Catchphrase : "This plague is not a sickness; it is the constant civil war that wreaks havoc across Elias."

Personality : Spiteful and full of displeasure, but highly determined, even when things are looking bleak. Though The Summer Witch was many terrible things, she did have at least one redeeming aspect; she had hope. These attributes combined made her hardworking. She was also particularly cunning and a marvelous social butterfly. It was obvious to anyone who could see through her that she was extraordinarily good at getting what she wanted. Though this trait was often abused and used maliciously to strike fear into peoples' hearts. Silberfuchs was by no means a psychopath. Many accounts described her to be fairly empathetic. It could be that her skills in manipulation were so stunning that she was able to fool others into thinking she connected with them, or perhaps she was far more genuine than most could know and was instead overcome by servitude, pulling back her emotional baggage in order to get the job done.

Strengths : A mastermind and exceptional showman. Socially aware.
Weaknesses : Would go to extreme lengths to make a point. She was often self-damaging.

Skills and Abilities : Highly skilled magic user.
Resistances : None.

Goals and Ambitions : To keep the Rhaen'yerian Empire united.

Accomplishments :
- Many publicity stunts
- Inspiring order through fear into many civilians (though this ultimately lead to the failure of her methods.)

Background and History :
Sauar was born in Griffegus with a wealthy family of a mother, a father, and one other sibling. She and the rest of her family moved to the Summer Islands at the age of 6. There, she worked as a luthier's apprentice for 5 years, until being enrolled into a scribing school. While she attended she crossed paths with a cult like group that dabbled in witchcraft. This group had been hidden inside the school for some time and was gaining members from the intake of newer students each year. Fascinated by magic and the art of witchcraft, Silberfuchs joined but refused to tell her parents. She attended the scribing school for 4 years (until she was 15). After that point though, Sauar abandoned her studies of written language and chose to become a fully pledged witch instead. At the age of 23, having studied and practiced witchcraft for 8 years, she earned the title "Madame Sauar Silberfuchs", being a respected and powerful witch among her cult. In this time, she had also worked as a band performer and magician in place of her studies. This utilised what knowledge she had gained of being an apprentice luthier by becoming a great player of string instruments. Her best and most known works being played on a bouzouki with a spare few being played on bowed instruments.

Being well known in her native area, Madame Silberfuchs moved elsewhere in the Summer Islands in order to enroll in another school. This one being that of wizardry and other magical arts. In this process, she left her parents behind and made no contact (even through letters) from then on. This was due to her seeing them as hinderances to her other goals. She stayed for 6 years, learning much of the schools of runecraft, evocation, enchantment and conjuration, having already been a near master in the arts of necromancy and witchcraft. Her great prowess in each of these schools caused Silberfuchs to be greatly respected by some, while her links to darker magics upset or sometimes even frustrated teachers and other students.

Being a witch of great power, Madame Silberfuchs had been offered many bountiful jobs after leaving her last college with flying colours. The college itself presented the job of becoming a teacher, as traditions go. While the Rhaen'yerian military offered jobs such as a lead scryer and general's oracle. Though being a woman of her nation, the job offer that caught her eye most was a position to become an agent of the Rhaen'yerian Empire. A fitting choice as well, as this job would prove to be very reliant on her skillset. It was work that required her to be in close touch with the Empire's ruler, while staying secretive and dedicated to the Empire's cause.

At 29 the madame was not well known, but by the age of 32 she was infamous and feared among many, mostly for her tendancies to unexpectedly appear in resistance gatherings before any battle or protest attempt had been made. Another reason she was feared was her often ruthless terrorism acts against aforementioned resistance members, well known for occasionally physically assaulting her targets before turning them. She would typically get away with this, only sometimes getting punished for her methods. Though three years later, at the age of 35, Madame Silberfuchs finally payed for her actions and was tortured for unlawful practice in her work. She accepted this punishment with no resistance, and later reformed, being moved to a department more fitting of her techniques. Sauar became a mercenary for the Rhaen'yerian Empire. With such a role, she carried out much more violent and publically viewable missions. Madame Silberfuchs was soon an empire wide fascination, some seeing her as a hero and others seeing her as a deadly enemy.

Though after the sixth year of this mercenary work, the initial shock she brought with her onto the scene began dying out, and the fear that once kept civilians in place started to stir up hatred and courage. In this same year, Silberfuchs had gotten sick from the plague that was currently threatening the Summer Islands. With the revolts growing stronger and more aggressive, the madame had to take action post-haste. After inquiring with the Empire about her plans and swiftly being rejected, Madame Silberfuchs cancelled her contract with the Rhaen'yerian Empire and began working in secret. With her remaining cash and some expert persuasion, she convinced a great weaponsmith of the time to assist her in the making of 9 ectovoelen. The weaponsmith would create 9 powerful weapons which would then be added to the forms of the ectovoelens. Though the weaponsmith prefered that each weapon be a light sword of some description, as that was the most effective weapon of the time, Silberfuchs insisted that they each be entirely different weapons to each other. Two of the most odd of these being a flail and a shield. Silberfuchs gathered many human bodies for the creation of the ectovoelens, most being either victims to the plague or soldiers who had died in one of the many civil wars. Having split her soul into 9 separate pieces in her last effort, Madame Sauar Silberfuchs passed away at the age of 41, 232 E.C.

Relative(s) : Parents and sibling.
Masters and Mistresses : None
Personal Assistants : Unknown
Mentor(s) : Unknown
Student(s) : None

Additional Information : Madame Silberfuchs died somewhere around 1,500 years before the Ehelion Empire was formed and is unlikely to be introduced as a character in present day.

Lady Hesitance

Usual Name(s) : Lady Hesitance, Lady
Alias(es) : The Dozer, The Tarrier
Full Name(s) : Lady Hesitance

From Terra? Y/N*: No

House or Dynasty : None
Current Allegiance* : Individual
Former Allegiance : Rhaen'yerian Empire

Core Values : Believes in "evil" as a job and a necessary counteractive to life, law, and
nature.
Political Views : Unknown

Gender* : Female
Species/Race* : Ectovoelen
Status* : Hibernating

Birth Date : 232 E.C.
Birth Place : Almorne Island, The Summer Islands, Elias.

Catchphrase : "I LIED!"

Personality* :

Lady Hesitance is among many things, a chronic liar. She'll lie about pretty much anything
she can get away with, and will not hesitate to do so. This behavior is fairly impulsive
though, and on some occasions not in the slightest logical. She is also a visually proud
being, having great pleasure in her form and power. Though this characteristic is a mask
to hide insecurities. Lady Hesitance is also very competitive and as well as dedicated
to her cause. Showing great enthusiasm in what she has done and what she intends to do.
Her last two traits are her vibrant, tireless, excitable personality, which combines
interestingly with her imaginative, fantastical behavior. She often gets heavily engrossed
in her plots, daydreaming enthusiastically about outcomes, especially of victory.

Strengths* : Dedication, energetic, natural magical weaponry (ectovoelen),
remarkable stealth abilities, good ability to think outside the box.
Weaknesses* : Sometimes lies when it's completely unnecessary, uncharismatic
and has poor social skills, very obviously an ectovoelen to anyone who knows
what those are, and to others may be a very obvious "villain" type. Magic
dispelling items and spells, protective charms and seals (against evil spirits).

Skills and Abilities :
  • Ectovoelese shapeshifting - Body will distort into the shape of another form in a quarter seconds time. Can only transform into forms bound to the ectovoelen at the time of its creation.
  • Possession (See "Ectovoelen Traits")
  • Soul consuming (reliant)
Resistances : Some anti-undead magic.

Goals and Ambitions : Unknown
Accomplishments : None

Background and History :

Lady Hesitance was created as a last effort by Madame Sauar Silberfuchs to keep Elias under the Rhaen'yerian Empire's control in the year
232 E.C. Though not many people know this. What most locals of Elias do know of however, is the three resting places of three ectovoelen scattered across The Summer Islands. Each of these resting places are decently well decorated and located in hard to reach locations. All three are deep inside of forests on for the most part, lone islands.

All three resting places were found hundreds of thousands of years apart from each other, and two of them involved a level of destruction upon their discovery. One of which causing the resting ectovoelen to awake, wreaking havoc until eventually being slain. The other was found due to the ectovoelen waking up and doing exactly what you might expect; wreaking havoc until eventually being slain. The third was uncovered well after the other two had their moments in the spotlight, but with no ectovoelen within. This sparked a lot of tourist attraction among all three and a lot of fascination by the public. Many theories have come and gone regarding what happened to the third ectovoelen. The two most popular being that the ectovoelen had simply awoken before the resting place had been discovered and fled, while the other theory suggests that the ectovoelen is still living in the local area and feasts on children late at night. The latter is regarded by most as an urban legend and not typically taken seriously by professionals on the matter.

Lady Hesitance herself, is none of the three ectovoelen mentioned, but one located on another island. She is soon to be uncovered. When she is, she is likely to cause a level of excitement or hysteria among the public, for no one had known that another resting place of the same origin exists.

Relative(s) : Madame Sauar Silberfuchs
Masters and Mistresses : None
Personal Assistants : None
Mentor(s) : None
Student(s) : None

Additional Information : Due to being an ectovoelen, this character has an additional section about ectovoelen based features. This is so that I don't end up loading up the basic character sheet with absurds amount of information.

Ectovoelen Traits

Emotional Foundation : Doubt, stalling, hesitation.
Soul Size : 1/9
Soul Owner : Madame Silberfuchs

Diet : Human / Demihuman / Sentient Creatures

Forms :
Body : Human, Height: 158 cm (5'2"), Weight: 59 kg (131 lb)
Spellcraft :
  • Possession - Lady Hesitance can only possess things she is physically touching. Her ability to possess other objects is a form of necromancy. Her body is stored within her soul and her soul is stored within the object. Lady Hesitance's presence is mostly concealed inside this object and detection can be very difficult. Magical energy emitted from the ectovoelen is hidden entirely but spiritual energy is only partially silenced, still visible in small amounts. Spiritual energy is very obviously emitted if she has recently eaten. It's likely that Lady Hesitance is broken and that the spell that allowed her to be partially spiritually invisible was once fully operable, so she could be entirely hidden.
While possessing an object, four enchantments of major importance are cast upon the object. They are as follows: If the object loses larger than or equal to 20% of its original size, Lady Hesitance will immediately be ejected for protective purposes. If the object Lady Hesitance possesses has a brain or functioning neurosystem, her soul will be temporarily bound to the object, allowing her partial (1/9th) control over the animal or person possessed. The object's surface will act as an eye, allowing Lady Hesitance to see in all directions while possessing an object. Lastly, when supplied with the proper signally from Lady Hesitance's soul, she will be ejected from the object in any positioin and location she requires, as long as she leaves the object with a part of her still touching it.
In addition, Lady Hesitance cannot possess objects that are not tangibly solid. No possession of liquids, sands, or other things that are easily separable. Nor can she possess objects that weigh less than 50 grams. Possessing objects that weigh more than 50,000 kilograms is near impossible for Lady Hesitance, as larger objects are more exhausting to possess. Things above 10,000 kilograms are difficult and cause a great deal of strain, while things above 25,000 kilograms are akin to being hit by a tidal wave, thrown around in a washing machine for an hour, and then being politely asked to jog to a grocery store ten miles away.
Soul Consumption Range : 340 cm (11'2")
Soul Consumption Rate : 55 minutes (Rot starts 35 minutes)

Body : Buckler Shield, Diameter: 42 cm (1'4"), Weight: 14 kg (31 lb)

Spellcraft :
  • Unnatural Durability - Will have a tendancy to magically reflect particularly heavy blows, but not light ones. Not strong enough to reflect most arrows.
  • Magic Infusion - Weilding this weapon feels unnaturally light and comfortable, improving performance by the user.
  • Optic Runes - An optic runes are placed across the surface of the shield, allowing Lady Hesitance to see out of them.

Soul Consumption Range : 329 cm (10'9")
Soul Consumption Rate : 55 minutes (Rot starts 35 minutes)

(Note that abilities under one of an ectovoelen's bodies cannot be used by any of the others.)

An idea : Perhaps Madame Silberfuchs might join The Resistance (@Edge45's guerrilla faction) to overthrow the Ehelion Monarchy and work on restoring the Rhaen'yerian Empire? Well, considering she's in Griffegus and that Griffegus got occupied by Ehelion Monarchy under the rule of an evil Piemaster king?

I can approve what you've made already, just that there ain't really no Rhaen'yerian Empire in the present world, it would actually be Articia of what's left and have not anymore followed its old system of imperialism.

@Deroc can you explain the background check on "from terra" to me?
That means, if your characters came from Planet Earth or Planet Terra, then your characters' backstories should be given to me for checking.

You can try to ask any questions, and give me a view of your backstories. Then I'll see if it needs any changes or not.

ok, madame silberfuchs is ready for reviewing.
lady hesitance is still a work in progress.
do you think it would be wise to get edge to review silberfuchs' backstory as well? a lot of it revolves around his stuff

Madame Silberfuchs ain't really from Terra, judging from available information in your backstory, it seems that she is a native of Vestroya. Or did you mean she was just a baby in Terra who got into the world of Vestroya all of a sudden?

I think it's better to let @Edge45 take a second look at your completed backstory, and see if she has anything to say.

i assumed terra was the planet where most things take place
because you know
terra is synonymous with earth

i assumed terra was the planet where most things take place

Oh you got mistaken

Yeah, of course i know that Terra means Earth. But not Vestroya, it's an alternate Planet Earth where we have Europe, Asia, Africa, etc.

And the main world in the current rp is Vestroya, not Terra.

Why do I have to ask "from Terra", if Terra really meant Vestroya...

Okay, if you have any more doubts, feel free to ask

Why do I have to ask "from Terra", if Terra really meant Vestroya...
because sometimes people like to have other wordly characters
the terra check actually had a higher chance of existing because if you came from the main planet then the history would have to match up, while if you come from some other planet then anything would go

nevermind that though
