Name: Raymond Murray, goes by Ray

Age: 32

Gender: Male

Race: Human

Rank: Paladin - Basically the special forces of the Ash Wolves. Often likened to Special Weapons And Training (SWAT) teams of the American police force. Equipped with the X Rail Modular Weapon System to tackle any situation that they may be faced with. They are given relative freedom, as long as they get the Job done. They have a chip in their brain stem that connects them to Aspect. The Paladin’s companion AI.

Role: Ash Wolves - Paladin

Weapons:
A modular weapon system that soon became the staple in the Paladin Arsenal. The adaptability making it the weapon of choice for these soldiers. Being able to change weapon profiles on the fly has saved more than a few lives.

Designed to disperse a fine mist or gas over an area. Often filled with Haemostadil, a compound that works on demons in a similar way to tear gas, while leaving humans unaffected. In large doses, the compound can prove lethal to lower their demons. Haemostadil does not need to be inhaled as it works on contact with demonic cells, though inhalation can quicken the effects.
Known documented symptoms of Haemostadil in demons are as follows.
  • crying
  • sneezing
  • coughing
  • difficulty breathing
  • pain in the eyes
  • temporary blindness
  • the weakening of passive abilities
  • lethargy
In larger doses, and only in lower-tier demons.
  • temporary loss of active abilities
  • hallucinations
  • death
To reach the doses, it has often been found that the gas is not enough. A concentrated version of Haemostadil must be injected into the demonic target.
The ALAS MMT -V was originally designed as a medic's tool. Meant to help out hospitals in low socio-economic areas. It was designed to be a catch-all treatment device quickly caught the attention of the military, and then the Ash Wolves. Both realising its combat applications. The one Raymond carries is pretty standard, with a few exceptions. It is black instead of the standard white.
The top row of injections are nanobots compatible with his blood to replace damaged ones or give him a temporary boost.
The second and third row of injections are filled with Haemostadil.
The toxins in the slugs have been swapped with an incendiary compound similar to white phosphorus.

Passive Abilities: Nano Active Blood - Raymond was one of a few that volunteered for Project Blackpool. An Ash Wolf project that was looking for a way to improve the current Demonic Enhancement Process. Blackpool source volunteers from a number of elite teams within the Ash Wolves. Including the Pathfinders, Paladins, the Guardians and even the Black Dragons. The Project was run out of Whiteheart Station, an Ash Wolf installation that was at the North Pole. As part of Project Blackpool, Raymond and the others had their blood transfused with demon blood and nanites. The process fortified his body granting the following passive abilities.
  • Increased physical attributes, allowing him to go toe to toe with most demons.
  • Regeneration abilities, as long as he has Nanites in his blood to repair the organic damage
  • Cyber mind
  • Body Supremacy

Active Abilities: Nanite Manipulation - Raymond can control the nanites. These nanobots can be programmed to build, destroy and cover themselves with metal. They can produce a suit of cyber armour made of sentient nano-bytes that covers their body and is nearly indestructible yet still very agile. It also increases his physical attributes many times that of the average human. The nanites in Raymond's bloodstream can also have the effect of healing his injuries at an accelerated rate, allowing him to regenerate before any normally fatal injuries could kill them. It does have its limitations though. He can't just create nanobots, and he doesn't have an infinite supply. They can only do so much before they break or malfunction. This leaves to possibilities. They break from the strain of rebuilding the human body, or whatever they were assigned to, leaving Raymond with fewer nanites and therefore more vulnerable, or the far more sinister option. A coding malfunction where they start going off on their own. Often likened to sentient super cancer. As such, Raymond purges his body every 24 hours and has a new batch installed. Though he is careful, as if he takes too much damage or tries to do too much too fast, he could end up running out in the field. The leader of the Ash Wolves can technically tell Aspect to take control of the nanites and bring him back, though the demonic influence of the experiment makes it a bit unreliable and painful. Large electromagnetic also can pose a problem.

Likes: Fixing cars, drinking cheap beer, smoking, shooting things, big guns and a pretty girl who can take care of herself.

Dislikes: The Current Leaders of Haven. Hot Heads. People without a plan. The Cold. Sweet food. Authority.

Personality: Raymond enjoys what he does. He has done well enough that he was given enough freedom to be himself, without having to conform to the standards of the rank and file, and he enjoys that. He doesn't ask for much. Forgoing a bigger dorm room, for his own space in the garages. He likes to be himself and isn't a fan of authority. He is often found trying to get drunk (though the nanites in his blood prevent him from actually being drunk) at a local dive bar, or in the garage trying to fix whatever damage the last demon did to whatever vehicle he was last assigned to.

Bio: Born to a military family in Australia. He grew up on the back of a dirt bike. Trailblazing through the bush. When he was sixteen, he joined the art with his parents' permission. He completed basic training, but before he could be sent on deployment, at the time he was eighteen, the base was attacked by a Demon. He tried to fight back against the demon and help get others to safety. When the Ash Wolves arrived, they saw him pulling a friend behind cover while firing with at the demon with a pistol in his other hand. They offered him a place in their organisation. His parents were disappointed he was leaving the military because they didn't know what the Ash Wolves were.
So, fast forward and Raymond Murray was joining the Paladins. Going on demon hunts, and all that jazz. An opportunity presented itself. He put his name down for Project Blackpool. It was only open to the top units and squads within the Ash Wolves. He was shipped from Lost Bastion up north to the Whiteheart Station. There, he and the other volunteers were subjected to various drugs, concoctions and transfusions. While a few didn't survive, there were twelve of them that did.
The survivors were shipped back to their respective units, now with demonic enhancements that made them better than human.
It was a couple of months between getting shipped back, and the program going online. Raymond and the others were only prototypes, and they wanted to see how they fared in battle before making all the Ash Wolves this new breed of supersoldier. However, information was leaked to the demons, and the Whiteheart base was destroyed, along with the data needed to create more. So, Raymond is one of twelve new nanobot fuel supersoldiers.

Extra:
Has a garage in the Ash Wolves Headquarters, where he fixes up Vehicles for missions.

While it is impossible for new soldiers to become imbued with the same nanites, two of the other super-soldiers had a romantic encounter and had a son who inherited the ability, producing their own nanites naturally. Though for most people, this is just a rumour and kept very secret.
