Backstory
Seulgi was born in Busan, South Korea, but her family swiftly moved out only a few
months afterwards, therefore Seulgi has no memory of her time there. Her parents
moved to America in hopes of finding better jobs to sustain themselves and their family
better. They sent money back to their parents in Busan to help them in their old age,
leaving them a little short on cash most of the time, but her mother found an
amazing job, allowing the family to become more well-off.
Seulgi was always shy and was seen as a bit of an outcast in school. She didn't get a long
with many of the kids, she much preferred to spend time in nature looking for bugs and other
animals. She eventually found herself a small, tight-knit group of friends who shared her passion
for creepy crawlies. However, when they moved on to high school, they were split up and
Seulgi returned to isolation once more.
When the apocalypse began, her parents weren't sure what to do, but they soon heard of the Legion,
a large group of survivors from all walks of life. Her parents assumed strength in numbers would
carry them through. They weren't aware of the dark motives held by the Legion's leaders when
they joined and, by the time they learned of their plans, it was already too late, they were no
longer allowed to leave. Seulgi's parents both became soldiers who fought for the Legion, they
were sent on scouting and scavenging missions and were tasked with protecting the camp from
any raiders. Seulgi, however, was deemed too young to do this job and became an assistant to the
leaders, cleaning up after them, bringing them dinner and generally doing menial tasks so they
didn't have to. Seulgi's family lived in one of the sub-camps within the Legion with other survivors,
including a family of 5, three sons, a mother and a cousin who had lost their parents when the
apocalypse began.
The Legion was often attacked by raiders but, due to their size, they were usually short-lived and
did little damage. However, a group of raiders targeted one of the smaller camps, hoping to
find food or other scraps. Seulgi's camp was attacked while her parents were on duty, leaving
only her and the other family to fend for themselves. She was targeted but saved by one of the
family's brothers, causing them to die. By the time the attack was open, only Seulgi, the mother,
one of the brothers and the cousin were left alive and holding a grudge. Seulgi was labelled a
murderer, she was reason their family members were dead. She had to be punished.
No matter how much she begged or pleaded, she was lead into the forest and bound to a tree.
She was beaten but kept alive, they wanted her to die of her injuries and suffer for as long as
possible before death. Each time she screamed or even spoke, she was punished, leaving her
with a crippling fear of speaking. She was silent from that moment on.
Over a day later, she was found by Carver, one of the leaders of the Legion, while out scouting
for areas to expand. He took her home, allowing her to stay in his quarters while she healed.
He had a lot of say on where resources were directed so he was able to get her the best care in
the entirety of the Legion. Once she was strong enough, he hired her as his personal assistant.
He taught her to find, ensuring if she were ever left to fend for herself again, she would survive.
He gave her the gift of a sword and sent her away from the Legion, hoping she could find a home
somewhere safer, a group who prioritized others and avoided confrontation.
During her journey, Seulgi was attacked by a small group of raiders in search of supplies. She
fought them off but sustained injuries which later became infected, leaving her weak. She fell
unconscious in the woods as the infection took over. She was found by Bear, a survivor living alone
in a camp in the centre of the woods. He took her in once he realised she was still alive, letting her
sleep in his tent while he slept under the stars. She was terrified of him at first, he was a stranger,
she wasn't even sure where she was or how she'd gotten there, but she soon realized he was there
to help. Bear left to look for supplies and returned with Pandora, the camp's new medic.
Pandora patched her up but she was left with scarring from her past adventures, leaving her insecure.
She was most ashamed of a long, deep cut across her left cheek. Bear would often find her staring at
her reflection in the nearby lake, touching the scar and frowning. He crafted her a mask of spare wood
with rabbit ears and and red, blushed cheeks. He dubbed her Bunny, though saw that being the only
mask-wearing member of the camp made her even more insecure, he made one for himself and
Pandora, too, dubbing them Bear and Owl, respectively.
