The best way to get characters together

Let's set the scene: You all got your CS's. The thread is posted. And then.... you're all over the world and no one's talking. You just meander around waiting for someone else to initiate. Maybe you try to initiate, but it feels awkward. How do you get it started?

Tips, tricks, peeves, or whatever. This is all about getting characters together and getting the role-play actually started.
 
Well, I don't have a huge problem initiating interactions between characters. However, if you really want to avoid making it awkward, talk to people outside of the rp and ask if they'd be okay with that.
 
You can always pm someone. I am always looking for someone to roleplay with myself, but it's hard to know who all is up for a role play. You can also post on the bulletin board to see if anyone has the same interests as you.
