Sophitia's hesitation made Gardenia tilt her head slightly before she remembered that this was a world besieged by darkness and despair, it stood to reason that one would be wary of someone they just met here. The older woman shook Sophitia's hand firmly then drew it back as she admired the summoned weapons, figuring she must know some amount of magic, or the weapons themselves were magical in some way.

"Heh..." Gardenia nodded with a confident smirk on her face, then took a few steps back before drawing the claymore off her back and taking a battle-ready stance. "I thought you'd never ask."

@Hahli Nuva

Sophitia narrowed her eyes at her fie.

Clearly, this woman was a trsined warrior. Given her Holy Energies, Sophitia wouldn't doubt that Gardenia had Divine Powers as she did.

Still, the true answer in one's spirit lay in their prowess in battle. While Sophitia had at first abhorred violence she soon came to realize that sometimes violence was necessary.

The Chosen Warrior remained in her battle stance, prepared for Gardenia to attack.

@Sin

The smile never left Gardenia's face as she locked eyes with Sophitia, then suddenly raised her sword over her head and stepped forward to swing downwards at her adversary. The strike was clearly not meant to be lethal, but it was enough to let Sophitia get a gauge on Gardenia's strength.

(Sorry for taking so long to post, busy with school and also finding it hard to be motivated lately.)

@Hahli Nuva

Sophitia blocked the blow expertly with her shield, raising her arm and feeling the weight of Gardenia's blade disperse over the magic metals. Gripping her own sword, Sophitia launched a series of swiift horizontal slashes in return.

❝ Did you hear that? ❞ The Replicant's voice briefly asked in his head, and of course, they both heard another person's voice. So they weren't alone after all. Nier didn't vocally respond to his Replicant. He didn't want to give off the wrong impression to someone that could give him a few pointers on what was the situation in this location in the first place. How long has it been that he as himself spoke to others that weren't just baseless copies of what used to be people?

He could pick up a bit of this person's energy due to his mutations from Project Gestalt, but he couldn't exactly pinpoint what these irregularities meant. His hand still rested at the hilt of his sword, but he did not draw it out yet.

❝ ... hello. I... did not expect to see someone else here. ❞ Nier spoke up once he walked into better view to see this other person, somewhat cursing himself silently for how stiff his speech sounded at first. He's forgotten how long it's been since he's held a normal conversation like this before Project Gestalt.

Emily wasn't that bothered by the way the (seemingly) young man in front of her spoke. In fact, she looked happy to see that there was someone else here, and they didn't look hostile.

qCnJFuK.png

"I thought it was just my imagination... But I'm glad I was wrong." She said, then she went silent for a moment, thinking.

Of course, there was a pressing feeling to ask this person about what the place around them was... Let alone what they were doing here, but she quickly realized she might scare then away by overwhelming them with questions.

So she started with a question she thought was simple, one that doubled as a more formal greeting, now that she knew she wasn't just imagining things.

uBu9KTL.png

"I'm Emily Hayes... A Stonekeeper. Who might you be?" She asked.

To her, saying she was a Stonekeeper was second nature; it was something like a symbol of power... And responsibility, but she also recognized it could strike fears into the hearts of some. This, was something she hoped to change, now that she knew the powers of stones like hers could be mastered, and wielded effectively by a Stonekeeper like herself.

"!!!"

What the Hell was this?! The man just...split himself? Damn it...this was going to be more complicated than he thought.

...or not. Looks like some little girl was striking up a conversation with the one of the left. All right, well and good. He still had to decide...leave the girl to her fate if he trailed the copy to the right? Or sacrifice pursuit of the right to make sure the girl was okay? Hmm...well, why not ask him?

"C'mon, dude. She's just a kid! You can't leave her unprotected!"

Remy sighed. Damn it. He should've known. Even if Rio Myre was nothing but a fabrication, Remy secretly held onto his "memories" in the hopes of being better at this whole altruism thing. Sure, right now he sucked ass at it, but he was trying. Nihilism was easy. Actually giving a shit took more work.

And right now, more work meant watching over the little half-pint who strolled up to some stranger. Ugh...well, he had to start somewhere, yeah? And so...he followed left, keeping his distance and quietly eavesdropping. If the guy tried anything, Remy'd be ready.

@Gummi Bunnies @York

❝ My name... ❞ He pauses for a moment. He had to remind himself that he shouldn't call himself the Shadowlord anymore, it wasn't exactly an... inviting name to be calling himself by. Nor would the Original Gestalt work too well either, it was too foreign from a simple name. In a way, it felt strange to be calling himself by this name again, as if it had been too long for himself.

❝ It's Nier, a lone traveler. It is nice to meet you, Emily. ❞ He finally answers, and for a moment, he works up a smile. The concept of expressing emotion felt strange to him after so long, but it didn't feel right to answer in such an emotionless matter to someone who could be very well in the same situation as him.

❝ May I ask... do you know about this land? I don't... know so much about this place myself. ❞ He figured it was fair enough for him to ask this, seeing that he was simply dropped off here using the technology made by the android sisters. Though, he had a gut feeling of uncertainty, especially with how silent his other self had gotten in the past few minutes. He didn't even push that extra consciousness to the back of his mind to drown it out, the other voice simply didn't make any side comments for him to hear only. That in itself was... rather worrying.

Ragnarok Mission: Present From the Past
Part Two: No Man's Land

In the UN Hospital, a young amnesiac patient has been staying for quite some time. With only a name, Geneva St. Claire, she has no recollection of anything, and constantly loses any memories she does retain due to the head wound she suffered that brought her into the hospital's care in the first place. A member of the MEU, Urbosa, is determined to help this young woman find family in order to help both Geneva be reunited with loved ones and the hospital free up more beds, but the only possession Geneva had was a strange necklace. Upon delivering the necklace to Geneva, the girl was able to remember one word: Vivaldi. Thinking this could lead to them finding Geneva's relatives, Urbosa set up a search party to find any information they could on Vivaldi.

One group webt to the Upper City, an elite part of town where the Vivaldis were listed. They were met by guards who informed them that the city was on lockdown due to a string of disappearances. Fortunately, an eccentric "doctor" intercepted them and allowed them in, while also enlisting their aid in solving the disappearances of the missing youth of the Upper City. He showed one missing persons flyer that had a young man named Arturo Vivaldi on it who looked similar to Geneva, and brought the group to the home of a woman named Amelia Dupont.

Meanwhile, in the Outer City, the group there found a young vagrant harassed by a group threatening to send him to a place called the Emerald City. Upon rescuing the young man, they learned his name was Archer and that he had been separated from his companion Brady, who the others outside the fight had met. Brady mentioned knowing of Vivaldi, and led the group to his home, where he and Archer explained that there had been disappearances in the Outer City that no one cared about save for them. The only lead was the Emerald City, a nickname for a town called Bel far off in No Man's Land. Said town was founded by a man named Luca Vivaldi, who twenty five years ago had been disowned and exiled for his horrifying human experimentation. Brady also said the next steps involved going to Bel, but to do so, they needed a map.

As the group made their inquiries of Amelia, the woman frowned. "You don't possibly mean to tell me..."

View attachment 3619

Xing nodded. "Yep. We wanna find Luca. Think you can help us? I mean, you were his girlfriend, right?"

Amelia sighed. "Fiancee, dear. I was his fiancee." She stood up, walking to a desk as she spoke. "I don't know what people have told you about Luca..."

"They haven't told us anything!" Geneva said, before adding a doubtful, "...I think."

"He was a good man, deep down. He had ambitions, and good intentions! I suppose he thought the ends would justify the means, but...he never found the ends he had hoped for." She opened the top drawer, pulling out an envelope. "He wanted me to run away with him, you know. Somehow got a letter to me all the way from some place he called Bel, with a map included." She shook her head, turning to the group. "But I couldn't do it. And I'm glad I didn't; otherwise, how would I ever have taken care of my darling plants? Nothing ever grows out in that wasteland..."

"Yeah, that's a damn shame." He didn't sound all that sympathetic. "But hey, maybe we can deliver a message to Luca for you?"

Amelia shook her head. "That's not necessary. Luca and I are history! But...if you desire to see him yourself, for whatever reason, I can give you this, at least." She handed Xing the letter. "Do be careful, dears. This world is nowhere near safe."

"You can trust us, Amelia," Xing said with a smile. "If I don't see you again, consider this goodbye!"

"Wait, you're leaving already? It's almost time for tea!"

"Oh, is it? Hmm..."

"Uhh...shouldn't we be going?" Geneva asked, but she was ignored.

"Well...the others are waiting...but I haven't eaten for a while...Damn...okay. Tea first, then goodbye!"

And, whether you liked it or not, you were roped into tea. By the time Xing led you out into the Outer City, night had almost fallen over Charon. "Okay, our hideout is right...here!" He opened the door to a small apartment, where the rest of the group was waiting, as well at two other young men...one of whom was rather furious.

"Where the Hell you been, Assassin?! These folks've been waitin' for hours!"

Assassin merely shrugged. "She invited us to tea. You just don't say no to that!"

Brady sighed. "...okay, yeah. I get it."

Now it was Archer's turn to be surprised. "You do?"

"But point is, these folks stayin' out late in the Outer City puts 'em all in danger!"

"Eh? No way. They all look pretty strong...they'll be fine. Besides!" Assassin held up the letter with a smile. "Dupont got me the map."

"Dupont?" Urbosa asked.

"The Emerald...!!!" Geneva gasped. "Urbosa!"

The Gerudo Champion turned to the girl. "What is it? Do you remember something?"

"I..." Geneva grunted in frustration. "...no, I don't...not really, but that name! I...I know I heard it before! Somewhere before..."

Urbosa looked to Assassin. "This Bel...how far out is it?"

"Uhh..." He took the map out of the letter. "Oof. It's pretty far out there. And probably a complete mess after that one explosion back in the day..."

Urbosa sighed. "I suppose in that case, we're going to need more hands on deck." She turned to those here.

"We'll be there, too," Brady said. "I wanna find these missing folks!"

Urbosa smiled. "Very well. In one week, I look forward to working with all of you."

And with that, your adventure either ended there...or was only just beginning.

Lindel had let all everything sink in during the fallowing week, and had entered the Cog and Sword with the intent to see the little adventure he found himself in to the end.

As he approached the table, he placed a hand on his hip.

It wasn't that Pang Tong didn't want to go, well, yes it was but on top of that he still had his administration work here in the city to take care of, but perhaps there was something else he could do instead...

One week later

As the group was gathering for the trip to No Man's Land Pang Tong was no where to be seen. But someone or something was making its way towards the group. It was big and mean looking and was carrying around at least one huge gun. "Pang Tong sends regards. Hired me to take his place."

❝ I take it that... this is the place to meet for this mission, right? ❞ 9S timidly spoke up once arriving at the Cog and Sword, holding onto one of the flyers that made mention of this journey into No Man's Land. No doubt he was curious what lies beyond this surrounding area, and it might make some good intel for whenever it's decided for more YoRHa units to be sent here. So, this was probably the best course of action for now.

"I came to fix my own future. Where I am from, the world became complacent. The world was destroyed, and I must kill him to stop it." She said, holding her pistol up.

As the magus arrived, Geneva smiled at him. "Hey, Lindel!" She giggled as she said his name. "Check it out! I finally can remember people! ...kind of. But I think having a grip on these two big memories is really helping with smaller ones."

As Death's Head introduced himself, Assassin frowned. "Aw, man! That was the green guy, right? He was funny!"

"Humor ain't gonna help us out in the boonies," Brady responded.

Urbosa, though, smiled at their new arrivals. "Welcome, all of you. We need all the help we can get on this trip, and you all seem to be quite capable."

"Go on and sit down!" Geneva motioned to the food. "Eat up-we're only getting rations on the trip out."

"Indeed. The Schwarzwelt was very conducive to training me, and the power gained from my mother, Louisa. "

Alex would then dive into a large burger and fries.

"I haven't eaten."

"Yeah, Luca's old flame. Assassin's been talking her up out in the Upper City."

"Okay, who is Luca?" Geneva asked. "I know I never heard of him before..."

"An old loon who got sent out to a place called Bel. You know...the Emerald City?"

"I thank you all for joining us thus far. If you have no desire to head out into uncharted territory, I understand. I'll still pay you for your help thus far. If you do want to continue on...meet me at the Cog and Sword in one week. We'll head out then."

"We'll be there, too," Brady said. "I wanna find these missing folks!"

Urbosa smiled. "Very well. In one week, I look forward to working with all of you."

And with that, your adventure either ended there...or was only just beginning.

---

One week later...

Word about the new trek into No Man's Land no doubt reached you somehow. Whether you were part of the original journey with Urbosa, or you had seen an ad calling for adventurers hoping to make some extra cash, or you had overheard chatter about it, no doubt the idea excited you, and was why you now found yourself at the Cog and Sword, ready for this mission. You would find the leader, Urbosa, already at a large table, with Geneva beside her. Three men also sat there, who you would recognize had you been part of the previous excursion. There was plenty to eat and drink set out, so it was a good idea to mingle and prepare. You had a long journey ahead of you.

The Cog and Sword was no stranger to Maeve.

After all, the famed burgaler had garnered herself quite the reputation robbing Order and Coalition soldiers blind. Nevertheless, she had craved something more, a true challenge to test her skills. Once she came across the posters asking for any and all mercenaries and warriors, Maeve had finally found the perfect mission.

Twirling one of her daggers on the tips of her finger as she idly leaned against a wooden pillar.

"Well, what do we have here? A worthy test of my skills? Can't say I'm not interested..."

"Not here for cracking jokes. Here for job, yes?"
Death's Head looks around at the gathered crowd. "Usually work around, Keep in mind your safety not part of the job, yes? Expect you to look after yourselves."

"That's great to hear! Now you won't get me and Libra mixed up anymore. Hopefully, anyway." Chuckling, he sat. "Things will come back to you bit by bit, I'm sure." He reassured, though tilted his head at one of the newcomers.

"He- hey guys," the armoured, short man spoke up as he sat around, eating fries with their chili, nacho cheese and onions, "they call me Chrono Spanner. So we're going to No Man's Land? Good thing I'm not a man, sometimes, anyways.

So, uh... how's life everyone?"

@Takumi @Gummi Bunnies @Yun Lee @Minerva @Jeremi

The magus rose a brow, amused. This Chrono Spanner seemed a little awkward, but so did a few others that joined them. Which he couldn't blame them for in all honesty.

"Life's fine, but sometimes becoming a man sounds tiring." He teased lightly as he began to eat.
