Briefing Room

"What? Not up the challenge? Prefer to stick to your own skillset?" Alain grinned, challenging. Then, he slumped back down onto his chair. "Complaining about your life after joining the military is a little bit dumb, no?"

Liam shots him a sharp glare "Firstly I didn't choose to join this, Secondly have you even conducted an operation before lots of thing could go wrong I don't care how stealthy you claim to be I've been briefed on our other teammates and not every body has experience in this field" "But what if I go alone" Liam says mockingly "Yeah well if you go in alone any alarm signaled could have 200 guy going against you with little to no back up. You don't even know where to look in the compound you could be searching for hours for A guy we have one very covered photo of"

Liam rubs his chin looking thoughtfully into the table " There's still the matter of the power vacuum left in the sheriffs death which could start a full scale war"

I chuckle darkly to myself "Perhaps you should go alone, after all, you seem to be oh so confident in your own abilities. And honestly you would make really good bait." I smile wryly "However, in this type of field arguing and confrontation gets us all killed, so let us all shut up and think of how to do this...together...." *I uncross my arms and legs and lean forward a bit* "Personally, I believe I should go in and talk with a few locals, maybe have one of you as a bodyguard sort, act like some sort of higher up for Serif, after we find out their affinity to him of course. And then we use that guise as a means of infiltration. If we don't want to to do that. I still have a few canisters of VX we could throw in, it has a wide enough dispersal range to cover the base, though we do risk civilian casualties, but it'll clear it real good and quick." I didn't seem to care about civilian casualties, I had a cold hard stare that seems to give off malevolence. As I usually looked during planning phases

Alain full out laughed then. "Firstly, I'd like to say, bravo for the impression. I wish that was genuinely how I talked.
"Secondly, it's nice that you've read up on us but if you'd done it properly you'd realise I specialise as a medic. Also gardening so that's fun." He raised his hands as if to surrender. "Do what you want, man. I just proposed stealth instead of-" he gestured vaguely,"- whatever the whole shouting thing was. If you wanna do the 'gunz-a-bongo' or whatever the expression is, don't let me stop you."
Really, the whole point of discussing was to propose something and then improve on it but seems the rookie wasn't aware of the idea.

"We need to dismantle his organization or else his lieutenants would start fighting for control. I can't condone an op where we cause just as much chaos because cutting the head won't kill the body the body will start thrashing about. But if we want to infiltrate the compound we could pose as new player looking to trade people for guns or some variation"

"We can't dismantle an organization if all we know about it is its product and its CEO, that's why the primary target is Sherif. The commander is smart enough to start with the small fish first if its an option." I smirk at the rookies futile attempts to try and lead the situation "Besides, even if we did know, we'd still face the same problems as we do now."

" What happens to the people in town once this op is over. someone would want the Sheriff's place and thousands of people could be caught in the crossfire"

I sigh softly. "The people will, in best case scenario, remain mostly intact and use that port for something actually worthwhile. Worse case, their economy is shattered and they live in poverty or flee. Worst, a lot of them die. As for someone taking over Serif's place, one of the main reasons we're even going after him hes because hes out of the ordinary, he smarter, craftier, and more deadly then most drug lords, if someone were to take his place, chances are they wont live in his legacy, and their little drug empire collapses in on itself."

"Thats what i'm saying if we take away the criminals one by one then get government's help to occupy the town we could minimize the chances of mass death and war"

"And how do you expect to find all these criminals, how will we take them out? How will we get the government, who has much bigger problems then some druggies, to help out? How can we not be sure that if we start taking them all out, that serif wont notice his sudden drop in forces and get suspicious? This is a one chance deal we have right here, if we don't take it now, we wont get another chance."

"We take out the big players that should also help reduce the security in the compound. Now forthe government don't you have contacts you're the wardens if they won't respond we could try the UN."

"With finding them that's the whole point of making contacts right i'm sure the locals can help"

I sigh again. "You really don't know how this works...." I straighten up and look hard at the rookie. "The UN and many other governments don't really think highly of us, in fact, most don't want us to exist, were just a group of rouge PMCs in their eyes. We have contacts in the UN yes, but we cant convince them to help out unless we make a really convincing story up. And yes, I'm sure the locals know were all the high ranking people are located and when. And I doubt they'd answer us either way, unless you want to interrogate one. Since if we are strangers, they wont speak up, if were a high ranking person of his, we should already know. If we're a new recruit, we're asking to much to quickly."

" The locales will talk from the Intel we got the're treated like slaves" Liam sighs and looks mournfully "So we just do our mission without any repercussions of what we do Huh. Just get pointed at the enemy and told to attack" Liam slumps deep into his chair "Some peacekeeping group you people are"

"Assumptions get people killed, how they're treated his also, a unknown variable, they work for him, so that's probably they're only source of income, and we cant promise them more work or money can we? And yes, we do. I'm sorry you think just cause we aren't saving some poor saps from some drug boss we are some sort of cold hearted organization, we're not, we just can see the bigger picture."

"We'll just see when we get there now won't But, we there's no reason not to try to destroy his organization he is at the top of it and stopping any fires now will save a lot of people a lot of pain. And if we do go in and the locals won't help we still need to get Intel on the sheriff whoever has the Intel on the sheriff can tell us about everybody else"

I shrug. "Perhaps, but lets hear what everyone else has to say as well..." I look around the room, seeing if anyone else will speak up.

Alain sat out for the most of it. They were really going at it, and slightly off-topic. It wasn't that he didn't understand the issues but, the way he saw it, they couldn't really do anything about it. Sherif was the priority, not the village.

"Okay then." He clapped when they'd stopped. "So now we've got all that out of our systems - most of us anyway-" He threw a glance at some of the guys in the room who hadn't even uttered a word, "- let's recap all the half-assed ideas that we've managed to pull out of our asses."

He walked over to the whiteboard, took a pen, and started writing. "Right, so there were some suggestions about acting as someone either as a new player or one of Sherif's higher ups. We'd need a solid, plausible story and someone who could deliver it convincingly.
"There's also the option of stealthing the shit out of it," The corner of his mouth twitched and he looked at Liam as he scribbled down the exact words. "We'd do it at nighttime when the patrols are sleepy and few, use some sleep gas and take out anyone who was smart enough to reach for a gas mask or was out of range with tranqs. We play like bomber man and skedaddle.
"There is the VX that the freaky goth girl suggested, possibility of the rebel groups, gathering intel and - one of my increasing favourites - I walk in as a bait and die so that I won't have to deal with any of you." He snuck that in the corner of the board in cursive and then sat back down.

The Commander stood to the side of the room, motionless for most of the debate and planning phase.
"I recognise your concerns Liam, and I empathise with you. We are doing this to help people. People will die as a result of our actions here, good and bad, but if we were to do nothing or do this in a different way, more would die. We cannot put off this opportunity to kill Ahmed Sherif, he will not be exposed like this again for some time. After this is done, we will see what factions take shape. We aren't able to end his organisation absolutely, not with the limited equipment we have, but if we kill this man, it will splinter and give us more time. A few smaller drug rings are much easier to dismantle than one massive one. You need not look at the bigger picture, just carry out your mission to the best of your abilities, all of you. Let me handle the fall out. It's dangerous, and isn't the easiest or most moral thing to do in the short term, but in the long run it will pay off. Trust me. If you believe you can build a resistance to Sherif and people like him using the civilians, then use this to galvanise support. We have little help in this region as well, after Tue Fall the only governments still functioning in the middle east are Iran, Israel and Saudi Arabia. Egypt has descended into anarchy and war. This will not end that, but it can calm the storm, for long enough that we can gather more weapons and manpower, and have a greater capacity to fight. This is the first step." The commander knows how hard it is to make a new squad work together under such difficult circumstances but he would make it work.
