Treasure
Void
Hello, I guess I'm Treasure. I'm not very good at nicknames, so I decided to use the name of a pet snake of a character I sometime's RP. Not very clever, but there you are. I'm not great at introductions.
About me! I've been roleplaying on and off (mostly on) for a long time on various sites. I have recently returned from an RP hiatus of a few months, but I haven't been having great experiences on other sites. Not bad experiences, and I hold no ill-will toward any of them, they just weren't working out. So here I am, once again filled with cautious hope. I'm pretty shy, awkward, often hyper, and generally dorky. I am an adult, but I will not be posting my gender, exact age, or birthdate in a public forum. If someone and I become friendly enough, I'm sure eventually I'll mention something as it's not a deep, dark secret. The reason why I am reluctant to part with this information - even gender - is this: I prefer to be a nameless, faceless storyteller, nothing more than words on a screen. Too many times I have had people expect characters to be like me, or me to be like characters. While I do understand many people do draw inspiration from real life in their writing, I don't think it's fair to assume every problem/strength the character has is also something the writer has. For example, I've had people go off on me because I have a character who is sexist/racist/some other "ist," and therefore think I am sexist/racist/some other "ist." Nope. I'm just a boring, socially challenged, awkward person who writes characters with major flaws to either overcome or be destroyed by. I don't condone the flaws my characters may or may not have, but we all have flaws, and the worst flaws are usually the ones we aren't even aware we have or think are strengths.
My roleplaying: I'm a highly active poster for the most part. I have very little social life and I work from home, so I can be online a Lot, and I usually post multiple times a day. Life is life, though, so there might be a day or two where I don't long on much or at all. I will let any partners I have know if I'm going to be gone long. I'll do either gender and can play multiple characters. Length of post is not highly important to me. I am most comfortable at about two to three paragraphs in length as I like a lot of back and forth in characters, but I can write a page-worth if the story calls for it, and I have been a part of some successful one-liner RPs. I think dedication and investment in a driving plot matters more than length, but I respect why some people ask for longer posts. I have been involved in some terrible RPs that were only one-liners, but I've also read page-long posts that gave my character absolutely nothing to play off of, so... Eh. *shrug* I'll usually match what my partner does or see what my character wants to do. I do like a lot of out of character planning and plotting, but not over-plot, if that makes sense. Some things need to be planned out, but sometimes it works best to dive in and see what happens! I also like to keep in contact with my partner on a friendly basis.
Generes: I will do pretty much anything! Other than zombies, but even then I'll consider it. I'm strongest in the fantasy/supernatural scene, but I really enjoy trying out anything. I do require any romance stories have a stong, driving plot, and I prefer to stick to traditional MxF setups for the most part. Beyond that, I am willing to considering trying pretty much anything!
Weaknesses: I admit, I do have a tendency to try to run the show, but I've been working on that. I also like to make a lot of characters, so at times I might have more than the RP can support, but I'm fine with writing them out if they don't work. I really, really hate people playing my characters, even if they are characters some might consider to be NPCs. I also might occasionally make a character that is a bit overpowered, but the bigger they are, the more fun it is to watch them fall!
Uh, let's see... other random stuff... I'm a big believer in the Oxford Comma, and I have a three-legged cat. I read voraciously, and my favorite author is Terry Pratchet, even though I haven't read even a quarter of what he's written. Amazing work! I like using emojis in my personal messages since you can't read tone into text, at least not reliably.
If you made it all the way to the bottom... Congratulations!! I think I went overboard here. I'm looking forward to being a part of this community. Cheers!
