Vitam et Mortem IC - Altsoba School of Sorcery

Sophie looked up from examining her sandwich. It had sounded good at the start of lunch but now sitting here she was really regretting not getting the roast beef. That had looked juicy... and came with potatoes. Looking around she noticed the same thing Hazel had. Most people were somber and whispering. A lot of the older students looked worried.

The professors, though, they were the ones whispering most intently. "I'm not sure." A boy in their year, Sophie hadn't learned his name, leaned across the table, having heard their conversation.

"You didn't hear? One of the professors was found dead." Sophie blinked and peered over at Hazel. This was news to her, though they did have a substitute professor this morning...

"The news is speculating that it's hunters," The boy continued, obviously fascinated by the whole ordeal.

----

The clairvoyant did not look up as Vivian approached but she did speak up, "May I help you?" She'd been receiving a lot of attention since the ceremony. It was... odd. The first week of school, no one had noticed her. After the ceremony a lot of people were approaching her. She wasn't sure how she felt about that, but she had a feeling that everyone just wanted to be friends with the Clairvoyant.

----

The headmistress was waiting, patiently, for Sinclair to arrive. The second he walked through the front doors she spotted him and sighed. Three weeks of missed school, as far as she'd been informed he would have only missed the first week. He didn't notice her at first so she cleared her throat, "I think you need to come have a word with me."

----

Eva tucked the newspaper under her arm and shoved her book into her bag. Lunch was no longer of any interest of her. Instead, she went out lake side where she thought she could get some time alone. Nito was there, practicing. Always practicing. She knew very little about him except he was another full blooded Italian--her mom had been quick to point that out, along with his cousin--The lake was big enough that she could easily put several feet between them but as she walked closer she noticed the cold... and saw the ice.

As a water sorceress, the ice presentation had fascinated her at the ceremony and here he was doing so much... more. She stepped closer, not meaning to disturb him but not exactly approaching quietly. It was just... she'd tried to get ice and she'd managed nothing bigger than an pebble and that had taken a lot of energy. She just wanted to see.

The black-haired mage immediately stopped in his tracks. Damnit, the headmistress had caught him. He had planned on going straight to lunch, but alas, that was not going to be the case.

And, to make matters worse, he had lost his cloak somewhere along the way. What he wore now was a black sweater-vest, a white button-up shirt, along with black pants and boots.

"uhh, hello, nice day we're having isn't it?" The words came tumbling out of Sinclair's mouth, haltingly.

Nito was barely managing to maintain control over his incantations, each of his movements getting slower and slower. Occasionally, the entire construct would sway, as would the young mage, the effort taxing him more with each passing second. But this was more than he'd ever done before. His vision was going black, but only for quick spurts, and it would always return in time to keep the icy lettering from falling back into the lake. This was more than he'd ever done before. Soon, it would be complete. The entire spell.

It was nothing, really. A practice exercise. Nothing would come from its completion other than self satisfaction and the knowledge that'd he had pushed himself beyond what he thought he could do. One day, this would be child's play. One day, he could replace this useless jumble of runes with an actual spell. Something grand. Something...marvelous. Something that would make him famous not only here, at school, but far beyond it. Something that might make his parents proud...

Only two letters left, and the last was barely managing to freeze over like it should. But he was almost there. With wide, twitching eyes and an entire body bent on collapse...he could almost do it. He just had to concentrate. On not throwing up. On not passing out. On not letting the entire thing falter, not even for a second.

But then there was a snap behind him. Someone very close by, stepping on a twig.

Two things happened simultaneously, the first being that would Nito fall to his knees, hard, the type of fall that would hurt a person, howling in rage, disappointment, and sorrow. The second would be the complete destruction of his work, each symbol shattering into snow and rain and tiny, harmless shards of ice, drenching not only the young Benedictous, but Eva as well, in subzero temperature water. His eyes, those calculating, immovable pale-blue eyes would look around, quickly spotting his peer behind him. His face would be a mask of immeasurable rage, but those eyes...they seemed hurt. Delicate. Filled to the brim with a sadness that went beyond words. His voice, faltering and wavering as it was, sounded just as forlorn. "What...what do you want!?"

It wasn't odd at all, but Anna couldn't focus. She had spent most every class chatting - that wasn't odd, either - but she knew she couldn't afford to do that this year, and that she should nip the habit in the bud for next year. She was an eleventh grader; the serious ones who intimidated her when she was a ninth grader. Now, she knew she wasn't going to intimidate anyone anytime soon, but she wanted to be somebody people looked at and said 'wow, look at her!'...and preferably not because of her height!

This thought was the one that drove her to shake her friends off and head to the potions market. In truth, Anna was terrified of breaking the rules (the only one that she would break was the talking in class one, and she didn't even really do it on purpose) and the thought had never crossed her mind before of visiting the market. Ever since she started the high school, her older sister, a brilliant potions maker, had been able to supply her with all the focusing potions she needed, of which there were lots. Now that her sister had left, Anna was going to need to get by herself, and she had failed Advanced Potions.

With some money weighing in the pocket of her massive sweater, she approached where the market was set up. She shuffled, head tilted down as she tried not to make eye contact with the twelfth years. They were intimidating, if only for their expertise. Some of them could snap their fingers and incinerate you, or fill your lungs with just the right amount of water, or anything they pleased, if they were angry or sadistic enough. She lifted her head slightly, digging the money out of her pocket. "Could I have some Focusing Potions, please?" She asked, putting physical effort into not letting her voice stutter.

Mia didn't stop working when it came to lunch time - in her mind, she could socialise after school. Three days a week, she would head to the library and study. The other two days, she would practice her clarinet in her room. Today was meant to be a day to practice for band, but with a newspaper tightly held in her hand, and a messenger bag full of all her History of Hunters textbooks, sometimes a schedule could be disrupted.

She made her way to the campus library. She headed straight to the no-speaking area. The area was a godsend; Mia couldn't work in loud areas, she just found it too difficult to focus. She found a table separated from the others and started to unpack her things. She spread out the news report in front of her. 'Altsoba Professor Found Dead Miles From School' screamed at her from the page. She had only ever had one class with Professor Kenneth; Magical Creature Biology in the ninth grade. The death worried and shocked Mia, but what made her feel guilty was the intrigue she felt.

Hunters had captured Mia's interest for years; their history, anatomy, the way they lived and worked, she wanted to know everything about them. That was why she'd taken History for Hunters as an elective for three years, and had taken a job as a Teacher's Assistant the fourth. She hadn't thrown away any of her books, not even the ones from Grade Nine. If everything went right for her, she'd be teaching the subject a couple years from now. As much as she hated to say it, this suspected hunter-related death was a great thing to study and theorise on. Unless she was interrupted, Mia spent the rest of the lunch pouring over the newspaper article and her textbooks, taking notes in her new green notebook on anything that seemed to link, or anything that interested her in the slightest.

Vivian stopped right behind the girl, Interesting, calmly Vivian spoke "How long ago have you seen this?" moving over the side of the girl, Her stare unchanging, but at least not showing the anger. "Must be very difficult, going from almost unknown to the talk of the school?" Vivian continued trying to sound more comforting than she would anyone else, "Listen, Being roommates has its advantages, Plus getting stuck with an Upperclassmen like myself can also be beneficial, if you have anything that I could help you with feel free to ask, even late at night as ill most likely be awake,"

Vivian sat next to the girl, Looking her over, gauging her emotions.

Heinrich looked up at the sudden words spoken to him, looking away from Hayato he saw another student, lighting up, "OH, Absolutely! just wait here with Hayato, im going to grab some food and be right back," Jumping up from his seat he about raced to the carving station, grabbing a heaping pile of sliced ham, and other pork foods, and on his way back he grabbed another plate for vegetables, and stacking a small cake on the veges. Carefully walking back balancing the impressive piles of food, avoiding the disapproving stares of the professors, he made it back and sat down.

With a mouth full of food, he managed to greet the other kid properly, "Muw nahms Highnnrickkkk,"

Even though they weren't twelfth years, Eva and Monique were already known around school for their black market potions. It was something they'd thought of a month into their first potions class in grade 9. That's where they met. Some of the other students in that class had been struggling with their potions, so Monique and Eva (both with decent skill for potions) decided to help them out- for a price.

It started with basic potions that they'd sell for a few loonies, or maybe they'd make some kid write an essay for them, but as their skills grew, so did the price.

She knew that Marie was inside with her own potions, but it was more typical for the younger grades to come to Monique and Eva. They were more approachable, and more well-known, but it was still nice to have someone older to sell to the grade 12s.

Her black market wasn't necessarily set up, but Monique was settled around a few twelfth graders outside with the enchanted backpack she (or Eva, whenever she was selling potions on her own) had the potions bundled in. It was much larger on the inside, but still retained the size of a normal backpack on the outside, and was also charmed with a vanishing spell just in case someone other than Eva and Monique decided to look in the bag. If someone other than them looked inside, all of the potions would disappear, only to reappear when the bag was back in the hands of one of the girls. Monique had picked the bag up on a family vacation to Scotland the summer before (the Scottish were known for their charms).

She was stretched out across a bench seats in one of the courtyards, her bag just sort of aimlessly tossed to the side. A few of the grade 12s were around, and Monique was friends with them, but she was wondering where Eva and Max were. They normally spent lunch together, but Monique just sort of figured that Max slept in, and Eva had seemed pretty shaken up about that teacher that had been killed, so she was probably off thinking about that somewhere. Fair. It isn't really everyday that a teacher gets murdered.

Monique was shaken from her thoughts by a small voice asking for a potion.

"Oh! Hey, Anna," she grinned at the Wind sorcerer, sitting up to pull her backpack up onto her lap. "One focus potion coming right up!" She unzipped her bag and reached in, shuffling through a few other potions before pulling out a water bottle half-filled with a light-blue transparent liquid. "That'll be 22 bucks." Focus potions were always cheaper for Wind students, since they were the ones that most commonly bought the potion.

Eden was also outside, sitting cross-legged on a checkered blue-and-white picnic blanket and shoving her mouth full with lunch. In her other hand was her wand, made of cherry wood and Jackalope antler core. She was swishing it around to make the pebbles in front of her spin in a circle. Once she was done lunch she'd practice a few of the spells that she'd learned in class the last few weeks, but spinning them around was enough amusement for her.

The sunlight made her red hair look like fire, and the sharp wind brushed it across her pale face. It was later September, and that meant that snow was on the way. Eden was bundled up underneath her thick black cloak, and the lining was already becoming fluffier as the weather got colder. She had a giant Harvard sweater on, it was her dad's and she'd dreamed about going there since she was a little girl. Her dreams changed when she and her family found out that she was gifted with magic. The only one in three generations, oddly enough. They'd thought that the magic bloodline had been wiped from the family, but it had just been waiting dormant, and Eden was lucky enough to be the one that it woke for.

She finished her lunch and pushed herself up on her feet, pausing momentarily on her knees to brush off the crumbs from her sandwich. Maybe she wouldn't practice magic. The sun was beginning to be blocked out by thick, fluffy clouds, and Eden had the sneaking suspicion that it would snow.

So she stuffed her wand into her cloak pocket and rolled up her blanket, deciding to make her way to the library instead. That's most likely where Mia was, and Eden knew her pretty well (mostly because they were the same age and the same element). She enjoyed studying with her.

Hazel froze for a moment, staring at the boy. One of the professors was dead? That would explain why everyone was so solemn, and it would also explain why the substitute they had refused to explain why the teacher was absent. But hunters- honestly, that idea sounded absolutely ridiculous! They'd been gone for ages and ages, surely they wouldn't have come back by now.... right? It's fine, I'm sure it's just news, they're always really dramatic, maybe they're just suspcious of that being the case, she thought, trying to push it out of her mind. "I thought all the hunters were dead," she said, glancing to her side. "Do you think they came back?"

Aaaand that was it. Max couldn't take any more of this. One more half joke and person looking at him for approval and he felt like he was gonna break something. Standing up from the table, he excused himself to the group who, after a few volunteers to come with were declined, waved goodbye and went back to talking. He quickly exited the hall.

He had a few options here. He could have a nap, or he could work on his magic. He was close to a breakthrough, he could feel it. But one urge towered above the other two. He hadn't managed to see Monique in the week since the ceremony and he felt it was high time he reconnected with the love of his life (Still felt weird to admit that. He was completely smitten though, and he knew it).

Deciding on his course of action, he set out to find Monique. It wouldn't take long at all, as all it took was a glance down to the courtyard to spot that familiar figure. She was sitting with a bunch of students a year above them, a backpack lying on her lap. Something seemed a bit weird about the scene, what with the fact that her two close friends weren't nearby, until Max remembered that Monique was doing something with selling potions.

He quickly sped up his pace, only bothering to slow down when other students came into view. He practically glided down the stairs and hurriedly made his way down to the courtyard. Exiting via one-off the entrances, he takes a moment to still his breathing and smooth his clothes a little beforehand making his way over to his girlfriend.

Once there he swiftly claims an spot next to her, side hugging her with enough force that that bag in her lap is jostled out of its position. "How's my favourite illegal dealer?" He asks, delivering a quick peck to her cheek as he looked her over, checking to make sure nothing had changed. Nothing seemed out of the ordinary, although she looked a bit tired. Probably the potions. She shouldn't stress herself.

Meghan looked over her roommate in surprise. Vivian had never been kind to Meghan in the years they've known each other. Then again, she wasn't exactly warm and welcoming with anyone else. It was hard to tell her motives, even for one who could see. Speaking of, "I saw you coming, or maybe I saw your shadow." It was a lame attempt at mystery.

Matthew Bainbridge, the clairvoyant training her, was an expert at sounding mysterious and ominous. That was a skill she didn't think she'd ever learn. "Thank you, I appreciate that." Her face was blank, not intentionally so but she'd never been overtly expressive. It had been a blessing when she never showed a gift. The sorcereress was studying Vivian just as closely as Vivian was assessing her.

---

Eva's eyes grew wide when her foot snapped the twig. She knew the second his concentration was broken because the whole mystery was shattered. It was already cold outside and the freezing water being dropped on her had not helped, shivering she surged forward to help Nito stand.

That kind of magic at such an age required a lot of concentration and focus, she hadn't meant to break it. Leaning down she had intended to offer him a hand up, but... he looks so furious that she had ruined his little show. "I... I only." Her eyes watered a little.

She'd never been alone with Nito before, nor this close. His gaze was intense, dangerous and she found herself feeling a little frightened. Eva didn't want to be scared of him. Upon closer inspection she realized there was more than just anger there... he looked hurt, almost vulnerable. Her voice was barely a whisper, "I just wanted to see. It was... beautiful." She was frozen in more ways than one. Stuck in place by the fear, halfway in a motion to assist the other student and starting to shiver a little from the cold. "I'm sorry."

---

Sophie's eyes were wide. "You're lying," She accused the boy, turning to her roommate. "Hunters have been dead forever now."

The boy shook his head and pulled out the newspaper that had been circulating the school that day. Sophie read through the first page and scoffed, "Pft. As if, this is purely speculation." She handed the newspaper over to Hazel for the other girls inspection. "There's absolutely no proof."

---

The headmistress just pursed her lips. He certainly didn't look like he'd been ill for the past three weeks. He didn't look weak or tired. Instead, she turned on her heel leading the way to her office.

Sick. Doubtful. Sorcerers don't get sick like the humans do. Once inside her office she gestured for the student to sit and she sat behind her desk, steepling her fingers. She was quiet, the entire time, waiting to see what he would say in order to fill the silence.

With a half-hearted growl, the action of one only pretending he didn't need help, Nito brusquely took her hand, using her to pull himself to his feet. Every part of him trembled with the effort. "Forget it, Eva. Whats done is done. My being angry won't accomplish anything." To an extent, it wasn't a lie. Its exactly how he knew he should feel. Just like that, in the blink of an eye, all the emotion that had been surging forth from the young ice mage had vanished, replaced by the cold, glassy demeanor the school and its students had always known him for. Once he was sure he wouldn't collapse again, he'd take a moment to brush himself off, not seeming to notice how wet, or how freezing he was.

"Don't get sentimental." He would comment, picking up on the quivering tone of her own voice. "All you did was render the work of this lunch period futile. Which isn't as bad as I make it sound like. I still need to eat, now more than ever." With the amount of energy, concentration, and physical effort he'd just used, he felt himself exhausted, and starving. But not parched, funnily enough. "How much longer would I have to grab something to eat? My cousin was supposed to show up, but the great lumbering clod seems to have forgotten his promises. Again."

Nito would take a moment to look into the girl's eyes, tilting his head ever so slightly in the process. "You shouldn't be so easily intimidated. Despite my...lack of control, you should know I would never do you, or anyone else at this school harm. No matter what people might say about me behind my back, I'm not some heartless, unfeeling monster." Even though these assurances were most likely genuine, every word being uttered in a monotone, uninterested, and detached tone didn't help any to quell such rumors.

Vivian smiled at Meghan, not some fake smile to hide herself, but an actual smile. This girl amused Vivian, that much was true, "We could start with that mysterious talk you're attempting," trying to let the girls guard come down she continued, "I think the trick is to Always let on that you know, regardless if you don't," Vivian sat back on the bench they were sitting at, letting her smile fade slightly, "There is so much We all don't know, hence why we are all here, but the difference is learning what works for you, what you can focus on. If you figure that out, everything else becomes insignificant," After getting up she pulled a small piece of paper from her pocket, it was an origami fox she kept with her. "Here, next time an opportunity comes where you need to sound clever, just be like the Fox," with a wave of her hand the fox began floating in a trotting motion towards the girl. Vivian gave a small nod before heading to her next class, she didn't get to train her gifts as she had wanted, but she did hopefully open a door that she felt would be beneficial in the future.

Heinrich gorged himself with all the food in front of him, to the dismay of the fellow students next to him. So much so that Hayato without so much as a word, got up and walked off. With a mouth full of food Heinrich looked a the other that was sitting with them, "Ish it shomphing i did?"

Ishade shook his head, looking at Heinrich. "He had to go talk to somebody... I'm ishade. I don't think I told you earlier." He said. He wasn't particularly good at talking to people, and offered the other a nervous smile as he ate up his food. The mess was too full for his liking, too many voices, too many people. He felt uncomfortable, shifting on his chair every now and then, hurrying to finish his lunch so he could go back outside. Heinrich seemed like a nice guy, but Ishade had long ago stopped making friends or getting to know people well. He had more interest in barn owls and bunnies and the ants or insects he could find in the gardens.

---------------------------------------------

Meanwhile, Klaus hadn't found the people he needed for his potions, and he kind of needed them for that afternoon, he set off to find Eva or Monique instead. He knew them, and even though he wasn't a ushal client because he usually made his own potions, if he needed one... why not go to them?.

Sinclair followed the Headmistress solemnly. He should have probably come straight to school after getting better, but he had found some Pucas on his way there. How could he have said no to such a chance.

In fact, the Puca in question was hiding away in his briefcase. He hoped against hope that the headmistress didn't already know about the animal.

As they made their way into the teacher's office, SInclair was met with an icy glare. He swallowed, hard, as cold beads of sweat started to form on the back of his neck. He stood at attention, his hands clasped around the handle of his briefcase. Sinclair didn't know what to say. He was lost. Of course, this wasn't the first time he had skipped school, but this was the first time he had skipped three weeks of it.

"ummm, soooo, It should be lunch right now, right? Oh, hey, how has Professor Kenneth been?" Sinclair smiled, he had always liked the magical creatures teacher. Not to mention that the professor understood his strange disappearances more than the others. Sinclair hoped that the Professor could save his assfrom getting in trouble at least one more time.

Having walked up to the potions market with her head down, Anna hadn't noticed who was working the stall until they spoke. She lifted her head rather quick and her tense body language melted away. She beamed up at Monique. They weren't best friends, but it was someone she knew, and not an intimidating, powerful twelfth grader. There were a few around, though. She kept up her guard.

She winced at the total. She had been hoping to buy multiple. She remembered her sisters words: 'The prices won't be too high', she had promised. Anna guessed they had different ideas on what 'too high' was. Trying not to show her disappointment, she pulled out her thirty dollars from her pocket and held it out to Monique, gently taking the bottle. She was thankful for the big pocket now, as the bottle slipped in easily and wasn't visible at all.

How long would one potion last her? Not too long, surely. Did she need to drink it all at once? Her previous ones she had drank recklessly, without much care for if she needed every single drop. After all, she'd been given them for free. Her only sources of income were her family, who would send her money if she sent back good test results, and some days she tidied up in the lunch hall or outside. She couldn't afford to buy potions all the time. Maybe she should working harder on that Potions class.

"Sorry, do I have to drink this all at once, or will it work if I just take it in little sips...?" She asked, looking up again to find someone pulling Monique into a big hug. Anna blushed lightly, feeling like she'd intruded. She knew the boy, and she wasn't surprised that it was him. The hyper power couple of Monique and Max was pretty well known. Even though she felt like she should leave, she stood there, awkwardly smiling, waiting for an answer to her question.

Mia pulled a highlighter over one of the sentences in the article, scribbled a quick note in the margin, then fell back in her chair with a slight sigh. There were a whole lot of connections, and a whole lot of worries. As questions came to her head, she was writing them down in one of the sections of her notebook. Now that she had gone over the entire article for the fifth time, it was time to start trying to answer some.

'How did Professor Kenneth end up in the woods?' That one was easy, once Mia really took the time to think on it. She taught subjects to do with magical creatures. She could have easily been observing the different creatures in the woods, and the hunters just managed to get her. The other option was that the hunters had snuck into Altsoba (impossible) abducted the teacher (very unlikely) and taken her all the way out to the woods to kill her, which someone would have noticed. Mia scribbled down that answer, and moved onto the next question.

Brainstorming for an answer to 'Was Professor Kenneth killed by surprise?', Mia lifted her head to try and get a new look on things. As she did, her train of thought was interrupted by a head of fiery red hair. She instantly recognised the other Earth sorcerer, and raised one hand in a slight greeting. She was a little peeved about losing her thought - she felt like she was close - but she wasn't about to let it show. Eden was pretty smart, maybe she could offer a fresh perspective.

When the earth sorcerer was close enough, Mia gestured towards everything that she had spread out across the desk. "I'm trying to figure this out," she mouthed slowly, very aware of all the other students around them. "Could you help?"

She helped him up and Eva swallowed guiltily. Sure, make him feel like she's scared of him. That's wonderful. "Sorry, I just... you looked really mad and I hadn't meant to interrupt you." She was freezing now.

It was strange how he'd been able to go to angry to passive in a matter of seconds but she figured maybe he just had a really good poker face. Who knew what he was actually feeling beneath that icy (ha!) exterior, but she offered him a tentative smile.

The water sorceress hadn't expected Nito to actually harm her, but he'd certainly looked angry enough to do something. "Anyway," she continued, answering his question, "There's still some time for lunch if you go now. Are you... okay?" It looked the magic had taken a lot of energy out of him; he would definitely need to eat. "I can... uh, I can walk back with you, if you'd like?" She'd just come from lunch, but he didn't need to know that. "It's a little cold, now, for me to sit by the lake anyway." Another tentative smile.

---
Meghan smiled, "I'll make a note."

As Vivian walked away Meghan stared after her roommate. She wasn't entirely confident that Vivian's motives weren't self-serving, but at least she hadn't asked a lot of questions about being clairvoyant, that one she'd been getting a lot. "See you later," She murmured, despite the fact that the other girl had already left.

---
Professor Hunt turned and grabbed the newspaper with the day's headline on it. She placed it down in front of her, facing him, and pushed it toward Sinclair.

"Sinclair, I find it interesting that you turn up the day after Professor Kenneth is found dead and the first thing you want to ask about is how she's doing? You're absent for three weeks and you don't seem a bit worried that you've missed any of your classes or that you missed the Gift Ceremony. You were supposed to declare this year," she gestured to his robes, still black and lacking the inner lining color change.

Sinclair's hopeful smile faded as he looked at the news. Of course he wouldn't have known, he had been busy capturing a puca while classes were happening. As for being worried about school, Sin had succeeded in capturing the Puca, so he was fine. Though, the teacher had a point, he had missed the ceremony.

With a somber voice, and a simmering in his eyes, "Teacher, why would you find it interesting?" Sinclair already knew why, it was a coincidence. Clenching the newspaper in his hands, he continued, "I got lost on the way here, that's why I'm late. As for the declaration," Sin's voice trailed off as his gaze travelled along the corners of the room. A fly flew around the far corner, behind the headmistress. With a whistle and a call, Sinclair's magic travelled to the tiny insect. With a calmness, rarely found, Sin beckoned the creature towards him. Then, with an arm outstretched, the fly landed on the mage's hand.

Looking back up at the headmistress, Sinclair continued, "What need have I of the ceremony. I am a fauna, through and through. I do not need a color on my cloak to show this." The simmering did not leave his eyes. Sinclair did not like being accused of anything, whether implied or not. "I asked about professor Kenneth merely because she had been my favorite teacher and I had not seen her in several months. That is all." Taking a deep breath, Sin stopped talking. He began to fear that his tongue might get him in trouble.

"Its...normally Gregori's job to walk with me. But my cousin seems intent on missing..." Talking seemed exhaustive to the young man, having to stop for a brief pause during his response, just to take a breath. "...missing all of his duties. No matter." Nito would set out at a lurching, almost swaying pace. "You don't need to carry me. But be ready to catch me, if you'd be so kind. I hate to impose, but I tend to have an issue with walking around this time. Every day."

Indeed, this was normal. For the past two years, he'd studied this intensely during his lunch period, sometimes skipping his meals to do so. The same could be said for either breakfast, or dinner. Sometimes he was caught breaking curfew, just to practice late into the night. Really, that was the only rule broken on whatever sort of behavioral file the school had on the young Benedictous male. "Today seems an exceptionally bad day..." He strained, stopping to lean against a bench on the way back from the lake. "Normally he, that being Gregori has nothing to worry about. But he tends to know when I should stop. This is what happens when he leaves me to go...gaggle at his crush of the week...And he tends to have food waiting for me."

He'd begin moving again, occasionally shivering from, like the cold was beginning to catch up to him. "Sometimes he has a cloak, a spare one. I always forget to bring these things myself, too eager I suppose. Could I...Eva, may I please have some water? I'd summon it myself, but I can barely raise my hands at the moment."

Heinrich finished his food relatively fast, packing it away somewhere in his small frame. Looking over to Ishade, he spoke for his first time in front of the student with a clear mouth, "So you have declared Fauna right? What is that like? I haven't ever had the best relationship with pets or animals,"
Heinrich glanced over at the clock to make sure he still had time before class, "But, i do know this pretty neat spot over in the forest with lots of deer, It you want to train with me?" His invitation was sudden but genuine, seemingly oblivious to his peers awkwardness.

Vivian arrived to the "Healing" classroom, an hour and a half left of lunch at least. It was full of various creatures and human textbooks with accompanied anatomy charts. Vivian used that time to study and practice her gifts, this Wind magic that she was "Blessed" with.

After forming her hands into various signs, she extended her pointer finger forward above a cadaver. Forming a small thin blade out of air around her, she focused onto the tip of her finger. Carefully focusing the air until it was razor thin, she began slicing carefully and steadily into the body. She began her incision into the sternum in the normal Y pattern that she had grown accustomed to, she glided across the skin with no trouble at all. After that she slowly worked through the bones, focusing on making the air to vibrate helping her ease through the harder materials.

With her free hand she quickly jotted down notes and sketches of her findings, weighing the various organs she quickly removed, documenting them down in her notes. Writing small labels next to her sketches, she also took small samples of each organ, checking the clock from periodically.

She was making decent headway in time, but class was starting soon, so she carefully stored the heart into a fitting sized jar, and began sticking up the cadaver.

Monique's grin grew when she noticed Anna's nerves settle slightly, but it didn't falter when the Wind sorcerer was clearly taken aback from the price. "Eight dollars in return, then," she held out the change to Anna, leaning over slightly, "and there are always ways to lower the prices."

She didn't specify as she leaned back against the bench table, and happened to miss the girl's next question due to a large being crushing her against their side. Normally, she would've punch who ever decided to touch her square in the jaw, but she knew it was Max without even having to look. The reason for that was a mixture of her just getting used to his presence for so long, and also just him being one of the biggest guys in the school. Almost like a hairless Sasquatch.

"How else am I going to support you?" Monique quipped, pushing his head away softly after he leaned in to kiss her on the cheek and turning her attention back to the customer in front of her. "The more you drink, the more focused you'll be, but you don't have to drink it all at once," she answered.

She waited to see if Anna had any more questions, but once the girl had left she turned her attention back onto Max.

"Where have you been all day?" She asked, swinging her legs up and over his lap so her heels were barely resting on the rough wood of the bench.

Eden noticed Mia pretty quickly, hunched over a bunch of notes that were spread across the library table. And it wasn't long until Mia noticed her too and picked up her hand in a little wave. She took that as her cue to make her way over.

She plopped herself in the chair across from the other Earth sorcerer, dropping the items she'd been holding onto the ground beside her as she leaned over to take a look at the notes that Mia had written about the murder. Mia had always reminded her of Nancy Drew, always trying to solve every mystery the world had to offer. Eden had been interested in helping her out before, but having a mystery this close to home increased her desire tenfold.

She skimmed over most of the cards. They all seemed to make sense, but something made her pause over one of them. Hunters. Her gray eyes flicked up to look at Mia, who seemed deep in thought as she scribbled down more possible answers to her various questions. "But they haven't existed for centuries." She turned the page around for Mia to see it clearly, pressing her finger just above the offending word.

Klaus had been walking around the halls for quite a while already, he seemed to have forgotten about even having lunch, even though his stomach was growling.
He walked through the halls and ended up going outside to see if he could find them. On his way there he stopped to talk to his girlfriend for a second, finding her with some friends they had in common.
"Did you forget to eat again?"
"I just have to talk to someone..."
"To who?"
"Eva, from our year?, I need to ask her for a focus potion"
"Ah... that. I think I saw her going outside earlier, muffin. Going towards the lake?"
"Really?, thanks biscuit, i'll seeya later." He gsve her a short kiss and walked away.
A few minutes later he came across Eva and Nito. His suite mate looked a bit tired, he was always tired after training with ice, Klaus remembered that much. He waved at them from a distance and came closer, his focus quickly shifting to Nito's figure. "Shit dude, you alright?. Besides exhausted and all." He asked, arching an eyebrow and momentsrily forgetting what he really needed Eva for.

Ishade listened to Heinrich as he spoke. He could tell the other meant well, and he seemed to be a kind soul.
"Well, I wouldn't know how to explain it... it's beautiful, having a connection and being able to communicate with the animals."
The teenager tried to explain, but wasn't sure it had been clear. The next words that came from the other's mouth were a surprise, a very unexpected surprise.
"I... i'm sorry, but you would scare the animals away with your fire. And I am... I like to explore the limits of solitude in ky free time, in silence." He said it with a gentle smile. "But we can meet at lunch if you'd like?, like today." He offered instead, afraid that he'd offend the other.
