a link to a basic picture Okami and I made of Leoril, so if you’re not up for reading, here you go.)
The Animus look very similar to humans, and Leoril is no exception aside from his team heart (and why he’d be taking his shirt off in front of a stranger is up for debate anyway). Leoril is about five feet, six inches tall and weighs about four hundred pounds due to the metal that makes up about twenty percent of his body. Of course, this metal is so ingrained into him even a sensitive person wouldn’t be able to tell he was made of it, his flesh is still malleable as a human. Leoril dyed his hair a few weeks before setting off, so his roots of his hair are black, while the rest of it is red (which just so happens to be the color of empathy). Leoril’s skin is tan, and his body shape is relatively fit.
Leoril (at the time of waking up) wears only a t-shirt, shorts, and socks, which was all he had on when he was frozen. His M-Suit is still in storage, which means his blue veins aren’t actively available at the moment. His tela heart is visible through his t-shirt, as it lightly glows.
Biography: Leoril’s home planet (he isn’t one hundred percent sure if he was born there or not) is Earth, and being an Animus, he had a generally easy time blending into the environment. Adopted by a foreman of a space vessel drive core company, Leoril spent his days serving as a heavy lifter for the company until he was sixteen, where he bid his fellow coworkers goodbye in a tearful spectacle the lasted about half a day and set off to may his own fortune. Needless to say, he was almost sold into slavery, had his organs stolen, and used as a welfare scam until he was taken in by an orphanage until he turned twenty-one.
By this point in his life, Leoril had finally developed some sort of street smarts, and with the funds he had available at the time, Leoril rented out a flat with two humans his age. For a few years, these three lived together putting what paltry money they had available to keep themselves fed and clothed. These were the happiest years of Leoril’s life unexpectedly, as this freedom and friendship helped make up for the close shaves he had come into contact with during his lifetime. This changed, however, when the offer for the Rendezvous came to their door. Leoril, being a Animus, was uncommon on Earth at the time (the Animus generally were a spacefaring race) and since the Seed Class ship’s goal was to collect as many species as possible the opportunity for an Animus was great. Leoril’s two flatmates were ecstatic at the opportunity to leave Earth and encouraged him to sign up (since he was allowed to bring the family along, so his two roommates signed up as his adoptive parents). Leoril was extremely nervous about leaving his home behind, but fell for the peer pressure and signed on.
Little did he know, when he was thawed, his two best friends were still in cryosleep…
Personality: Even for an Animus, Leoril is fragile emotionally due to him never having a real family. Most Animus are picked up by either groups who understand their needs or other members of their species. Leoril wasn’t raised by bad people per say, but he never received the “training” that most receive in their youth. This makes Leoril hyper-emotional, even by his species standard.
Despite his mild issues with emotions, Leoril has a good heart. His time in the orphanage taught him the importance of empathy, which was a trait he tends to take too far, often putting himself out there in situations that don’t really require him to do so. Leoril’s biggest issue tends to be that he lacks the foresight to see that trying to make friends should be less of a priority over good judgment. Leoril’s life at the apartment had made him almost addicted to companionship in any form. Of course, this meant he was easy to deceive.
Bluntly put, to strangers Leoril’s personality can be grating, but to close friends his personality is what makes him-him.
Finally, Leoril’s two flatmates once tried setting him up on a date, but quickly realized any sort of romantic affection towards him might be interpreted as true love by him. They never had the chance to explain the difference before they set off on the Rendezvous.
