Sandbox Ragnarok: Phase Two

Lindel...that sounded familiar. Ugh, stupid memory! Geneva scowled as she tried to remember who Lindel was. Meanwhile, Urbosa nodded at Pang Tong, seeing everyone had finally settled.

"It's simple, really, as long as things go right. We're trying to contact the family with the last name Vivaldi, who live somewhere in the Upper City. The only problem is, the Upper City has become far more strict in the past few days about who goes in and out. I'm not entirely sure why, but it causes a bit of a problem if we want to find our man."

"Hey, Urbosa, can I say this next part?"

"Be my guest."

Geneva took a deep breath. "Okay. So, our plan is, some of us try to go to the Upper City on our own. Preferably people who have ties to the Coalition or the UN, because of...um..."

"Doctor Maera's labs, dear."

"Yeah! That. Okay, and then others will go to the Outer City to see if we can find any information there." She leaned back, proud of what she remembered.

Urbosa smiled at the girl as well, before turning back to their group. "I will be going to the Outer City, and Geneva will be going to the Upper City. Decide where you'd be best suited for, and we'll head out."

Anyone familiar with Charon knew that the Upper City looked down on anyobe who didn't fit their idea of rich and classy, while many in the Outer City were happy to take advantage of those who didn't look like they could hold their own. Those were some good things to keep in mind while choosing your destination.

"Seems like I will be with you, young lady." Pang Tong replied with a friendly wink towards Geneva. The Outer City sounded like such a pointless hassle. Now the Upper City on the other hand, sounded like a cake walk. "I'm ready to move out when you are. Looking forward to catching all the sights."

She wasn't a monster of a man like Derek or Peter who radiated don't tick me off or even someone who could appear to hold her, even though she could. She could fake being rich and classy, that was easy. " I'll be joining you, I played preppy, classy and acted like a perfect popular girl my whole life. It won't be too hard to fake it among them."

Pang Tong was too friendly in Lindel's opinion. The mage simply sighed.

With everyone decided on where to go, the groups split up and headed out to their respective destinations. As they walked on to the Upper City, Geneva seemed rather gloomy. "All this just to get me reunited with family...I know Urbosa means well, and I'm grateful, but it all seems a bit much at times." She sighed. "At least it means living out of the hospital finally. And in the Upper City, too...I never would've guessed that's where I came from!"

Unfortunately, it seemed they wouldn't be able to step foot in the Upper City, as some soldiers stopped them. From the look of their uniforms, these were privately hired. "Halt! I need to seem some identification, please. The code, too."

"Code?" Geneva looked at the group, brow furrowed. "I don't remember any code."

Fortunately for the other group, getting into the Outer City was a piece of cake. Navigating the crowds, on the other hand, would be the difficult task at hand. Urbosa walked with her scimitar displayed on her hip as a warning to any potential pickpockets. "Eyes and ears on alert at all times," she warned. "You never know what folks here might pull."

If one were to keep ears on alert, they could hear commotion from a nearby alleyway. Otherwise, they should continue to follow Urbosa.

Seemed like they were in need of some charm. "Greetings, good sir." Pang Tong sauntered up to the guard. "Pang Tong, I'm from the Coalition. Hold on..." He started to feel around his cloak until he finally pulled out an ID-card from one of his long sleeves to show the guard. "Me and my associates are here on official business, I know you're doing your job and all but we're kind of in a hurry so..."

"Oh trust me. I'm always on alert on this planet." Marcus commented as he held his Lancer close and out. With it's powerful range and full-auto capability, alongside a fully operational chainsaw bayonet, people would be foolish to attack him in a melee situation. "I would go to check out that commotion that I can hear in a nearby ally, but the last time I did that in a remote town, I got jumped. So no chance of that fucking happening again."

Many people thought Ryu might be a weakling, however a second glance told them wrong. Ryu heard the commotion in a nearby alleyway. "If you don't plan to check that out Marcus, I could." Ryu said. Ryu was used to hearing commotion in an alleyway, and whatever that commotion may be, he was ready for it.

"The UN hospital isn't really an ideal place to live, but not much could be done about that. Do you remember anything else other than coming from the Upper City?" Lindel asked, until they ran into the guards and ended up giving a click of his tongue. They needed a code to get in, something that didn't surprise him too much. Pang was quicker to use his status as a Coalition member, but Lindel was ready to come with something on the fly if need be.

There Max was, riding a Psycholeopterran and using its abilities to hypnotize every predatory beast in sight as the group proceeded.

"That's a wrap, guys, now all we need to do is-"

"Maxwell Tennyson!"

The voice came from below, emerging from a heavy layer of rubble was a-

- that was it, that was the beast that was described.

Spider-like and uncouth. It shot a single laser at Max's steed, knocking him down. Someone better save him!

The spider transformed into a more compact man.

"Fancy meeting you here, old friend. Without that pesky little grandson of yours in the way, I think we can settle this the olf-fashioned way, now can we?"

"Who are you calling old friend? You're far from Phil, you're just a shell of the old Phil."

"I beg to differ," the bearded man says as he holds a single, red, circular device up. Its design seemed to be stylized like fangs. He simply put it on his chest.

"The Nemetrix? Phil, no! You know what that does to your brain!"

"It already happened once, one more time wouldn't make that much difference. Even if it did... well, the price will be worth it."

"Phil! Just listen to an old friend for once!"

"So, am I an old friend or am I not? Make up your mind, Max."

"Who mentioned anything about a human male?" Phil taunts as he smacks the Nemetrix as it was called, causing him to be surrounded by vines and such. This collection of flora grew larger...

"Much like you have ventured to different worlds, I have too, and I'd like you to meet the top of the foodchain in an alternate Earth, that which the locals call Godzilla!"

The magnificent reptile-shaped plant monster stood at 318 metres, approximately. Its neck possessed a collar with the Nemetrix's emblem.

All the mighty beast could do was roar, now that it had lacked all sapience. From its green, flora-based body, it unleashed a flock of wyvern-shaped beings from its body.

"I need one of you to help me reach the Nemetrix," Max adds, "this monster looks unstoppable at first glance, but I might be able to stop it if I turned him back human."

Lydia also had to be quick and think on her feet. She noticed what Pang did and followed suit. " I'm Lydia Martin, I'm with the Coalition as well and this is a girl who was recently a patient at the UN hospital and her doctor. She would tell you the code, but the poor girl suffers from amnesia. Can barely remember most people she meets, we are trying to get her back to someone she knows, hoping it will jog her memory," she added. Sometimes honesty with a bit of a lie was the best.
