HOTEL
“Believe me: there are no innocent souls on prudence.” Arcade hummed. “Not you. Not me. Not anybody here. But let’s kick that can down the road. The Kid’s brother is in the Mall. Second floor. Outside a clothing store. He’s thrown in with a few of the hunted. Good people, by the sound of it. That’s the good news. Bad news is that the Hunting Party 9s are trying to bash his head in with a bunch of ye olde style weapons. One guy's packing nunchucks. Better deal with him before things go full Kung Fu Movie down there.”

“As for those tiny bombs you got wriggling through your blood stream, you're gonna wanna head down to the Amusement Park. There’s a guy down there who can help... though he might not know it yet. You’ll recognize him by his ass collar and his even bigger, ass-er head. You can't miss him. But you'll want to hurry. Things aren't too 'fun' at the funfair. They've already got one maniac in that part of town, and our mutual friend's sanity was slipping long before he came to Prudence. So get moving!"
He clapped. "Vamanos! Wash that blood off your hands and hit the road! Dilly Dally too long and well... you might miss your shot at getting off this rock alive..."

SAFE HOUSE
Frost froze for a moment. He could have tried to pull the wool over Kayn's eyes one more time. But what was the point? The path before him had frozen over. He was slipping. Frost scoffed at his errors. He rolled his eyes and pulled the bandage from his shoulder, smirking all the while. His wound had completely healed. He rolled his shoulder and laughed.

"What did I do with the medicine?" The Demon shrugged matter-of factly. "I burned it. Better to see it turned to ash that wasted on such a foul creature. My body is perfectly capable of healing itself, you see. Leaving all that medicine about the place... why, I would simply be playing into the hands of my foes! Foes such as-"

"-you." He half smiled, half sneered, unable to hide his disgust for a moment longer. "Everything you said back at the Hotel was entirely accurate, Kayn. I am one of the most powerful men on this planet. My greatest rival stands inside this room, and I'm looking straight at him. If we were to come to blows, why... I think we'd both fall. So I had to eliminate the competition. I had remove anyone who might've tried to tip the scale in your favor." He scoffed, looking down at Bad Girl. "No matter how weak they may be. Don't take it personally, Bitch. Rena was next."

Ki crackled across Frost's fingers as he charged up another energy blast. He pointed towards Charlotte's temple.

"It was good while it lasted. This little masquerade. I think I really did have you all fooled. Poor Frost. Sniveling Frost. Weak willed frost. Let's accept his drinks. Let's keep him around. Sweet little Frost... such power, but he'd never hurt a fly!" He cooed, his power rising. "If fate wasn't so fickle, I'd have kept the act up for another day or two. You all would have made excellent protectors, right up until your last, choking breaths. I would have cried tragic tears as you all succumbed to this strange new disease... perhaps I would've even injected myself with a dash of the poison, just to keep up appearances. Still. No use in playing the long game now... We'll all be dead in a few hours. God knows I'll be seeing you all in Hell..."

The adrenaline coursing through Bad Girl's veins would start to fight off the poison. Her symptoms would start to fade... for now. They would likely return within a few hours.

Having ingested her dose her dose of the poison via Frost's tainted drinks, Bad Girl would show her symptoms within the next 5 hours.
Having been injected via a micro-needle during back at the Hotel, Kayn and Rena wouldn't show symptoms for another 7 hours.

"So tell me, 'Champions'... how much are your lives worth to you?"

"Curious..." The King stroked his chin. "One doesn't encounter your kind often, especially not on Prudence-- Good Souls." After a moment, the King kicked himself up off of his barrel. He looped his hands behind his back and started to base the factory. As he did so, his medic finished patching up Eight's injuries and left the scene. "But, you see... I can't ask for your help in this matter... not in good conscious. District C doesn't get news broadcasts, not like the rest of the city. The rationale is that my subjects and I are too poor to buy OBLIVION's products. Why would they waste their time advertising to us? But my nobles and I... we know things. We've been intercepting broadcasts, and... I hate to be the bearer of bad news." He turned his back to the Hunted. He hunched over, leading against a deactivated conveyor belt for support. "But the rules have changed. One of your Hunter friends leveled a building in one of the Higher Districts... As payback, Tormo's crippled your time limit. They game ends in 32 hours. I won't have you waste a single one upon us. No matter how desperate we may be, we shan't steal your final days away from you..."

"He's my half brother, yes, but our mother raised us as if we shared the same blood,"
The King smiled, reflecting on better days. "We may not look alike, but once upon a time we were inseparable. We were as thick as thieves, once upon a time. But times change. Our mother died. He used his inheritance to buy a few factories on this world. At the time, I was proud of him. I thought he was doing something with his life. Something worthy of respect. One day, he invites me to visit 'his city'. He gave me a tour of this place, grinning all the while. He had told me all about his employment rates and profit margins... but he had neglected to inform me about all the suffering he had caused. His employees... they were being worked to death. They were paid in crumbs. All who defied him were starved. Beaten. He told me that it was simply the way things were. He told me it was 'just business'. We've never spoken since. I did everything I could to make things right for the people of this district. I didn't want to see my mother's money weaponized like my brother had done. I didn't want all this to be her legacy. So I poured every penny I had into saving these people. Buying them foot. Repairing their clothes. But coin can only carry you so far, and even a fat inheritance only lasts so long. Before I knew it, I was a beggar, just like the others, slaving away in one of my brother's factories. One day I snapped. I turned my hammer on one of the Overseer Droids. Next thing I know, everyone else is following suit. The rest his history. Cluth and I may be bound by blood, but we're as different as chalk and cheese. We're as different as droids as men..."

The Unknown Hunter went back to snapping photo's of Allison's surrender, his finger eagerly tapping the capture button. He change his filter every couple of snaps. Regular. Ultra-Violet. Spectrum lens. If his time on the road had taught him anything, it was that there was no harm in being too thorough.

. He slowly made his way back towards the vent. He crawled back inside the factory, breaking Aerosmith's direct line of sight.

"If it doesn't matter," The solider grunted. "Then you won't mind if I insist that you drop them. Just as a precaution." His tone betrayed his words. Despite his polite phrasing, the guards' tone remained firm and sharp. His weapon remained fixed on Allison's position. "Fail to comply and we will be forced to open fire! Drop the weapon! No sudden movements!"

So, they were half brothers? Interesting. She wondered if Cluth knew that the King of Beggars was his own half brother, or even cared if he did.

She vaguely remembered the feeling of hands squeezing her throat and the teary eyes of her mother before she let go. Chise wasn't a stranger to the idea of someone, even if they were family, trying to kill one of their own.

"What use is honor to the dead?" Frost scoffed. "I am what I am-- a survivor. I thought you of all people would understand!"
Frost's eye twitched. A telekinetic command caught the gold bring before it could strike the Demon's head. Sensing its sender, Frost set the bullion spiraling through the air back towards Kayn, striking him in the ribs as he drew back his scythe. Before Kayn could cleave him in two, Frost rocketed back across the room, landing in the Safe House's top right corner.
"The blood of the innocent clings to your hands, Kayn! How many have you killed since we arrive? How many of them were already wounded? Unable to fight back?! We're both Demons, Kayn! One and the same!"

A scream of crimson flashes ruptured forth from Frost's fingers. His Death Beams burned a series of holes straight through the furniture around Rena. The beams kept on travelling until the scarred the floor bellow the safe house.

"Shut up, you invalid cur!" Frost snapped, turning his attention back towards Charlotte. "I'd be conserving my breath if I were you! Better suck down some air whilst you still can-- you'll be choking on the stuff soon enough!!"

With a crash, Chuck and HC game charging back into the room.

"I'm gonna ask this once and only once..." HC groaned. "Why the hell are you guys throwing down inside my safe house? Do you guys not know what Safe means? Come on..." He rolled his eyes and casually walked across the battlefield and into the kitchen. "Hey Katey, where did you put my mic?"

Katey burst into the room a moment later, her weapon loaded and trained on the big guy with a scythe.
"Bottom drawer." She snapped. "Cabinet on the left."

Whilst the pair rummaged through the box of old towels and cooking utensils, Chuck approached the counter. He removed a knife from the wrack and flipped it around in his hand.

"So... we're killing each other again, huh?" He grumbled. "You want to take this outside? Away from my kid? Away from the fucking Safe House?"

Footsteps could be heard pounding up the staircase at the end of the hall. Another Hunter was on their way up. The party was going to get a little bit more crowded.

HOTEL--> DISTRICT B MALL
"Hey, don't thank me!" Arcade chimed, finally putting his bottle down. "Thanks implies that we're even. You owe me now, Yashie. Don't go forgetting that..."

Prototype nodded, heeding Yashamaru's orders. A route to the mall was charted. The Blade Wolf turned out into the streets and sprinted towards their destination, matching even the samurai's incredible speed.

As they faded from sight, Arcade approached the Hotel's shattered front window and smiled. He couldn't help himself. Everything was finally coming together. He stepped over a couple of dismembered bodies and approached the lobby's security panel and twisted its emergency key. The Hotel's shuttered came grinding down. He could've sworn that he had heard something stirring in the wreckage of that fallen tower. He didn't want to stick around to find out who or what it was...

***
Diaz and Yashamaru arrived at the mall just in time to watch the fight escalate. Unshaken by the swordsman's show of force, the 9's continued to charge forth, their weapons drawn.
The two raised hunters tossed their weapons to the floor and cried out to another one of their own. The third hunter came charging in. Skidding across the floor and picking up his stunned allied weapons, he swept Daniel's legs, exploiting the confusion of the loud, violent scene.
Ouka's sword successfully pierced the armor of the one of the hunters, forcing him from the mortal plane. He wasn't so lucky when it came to the next. Dodging Ouka's follow up strike, the Hunter planted a right hook against Ouka's jaw, force the kids head to roll to the side.
Samus fired a few frantic shots towards their swarming foes, but the constant presence of the cheering crowd was enough to force her to hold back. She could afford any collateral damage.
Despite their great powers, the Hunted still out numbered 2 to one. The 9s had been fighting together for decades. They knew how to put up a fight.

@Atomic Knight @Yun Lee @Takumi @Gummi Bunnies @Crunch

Seeing one of the Hunter's suddenly go for Daniel, Ouka quickly tried to form a barrier around the younger Diaz before the 9 could strike any further. Losing focus on his own barrier as it dropped, he spit out blood from the force of the blow to his face.

Wiping it away, with the other as close as he was, he thrusted his hand out open palmed to strike the Hunter in the chest, water bubbling and floating in the air around his hand before making it's way to his palm and shooting forwards as it crystalized in an attempt to spear the hunter through the chest.

If successful, he'd go to the 9 that tried attacking Daniel, attempting to give a hard roundhouse kick to the head with enough force to kick him away from the younger Diaz.

He was more annoyed by the 9s than anything else. He, in all honesty, wasn't used to fighting multiple people at once. Perhaps this could be seen as a learning experience, in the end. If he survived it anyway.

Either way, he wasn't sure how long he could keep it up. The group of civilians who were cheering were starting to give him a headache.

Allison would look over at him. " I assume you have never met a teenage girl before today," she replied, as she would slowly as possible take the first arrow and very slowly drop it, not exactly stopping herself from dropping on the guard's foot. She would go for the next arrow to slowly drop.

"Daniel!" Sean cried, running into the fray. Daniel had just gotten to his feet, childishly pouting despite the seriousness of the situation. He turned when he heard his brother's voice and his eyes went wide.

"Sean!"

He whipped his head back around to the fight. He was in awe of the barrier the other fighter had placed over him, but it was clear that guy had his hands full. Daniel reached behind him and Sean slammed into an invisible, telekinetic barrier the younger Diaz had conjured. "Sean, you gotta stay back!" he yelled.

Sean had fallen backward on to his butt. He was shaking his head at Daniel's words. "Daniel, just get out of there!"

"No, Sean, they're bad!"

Winds were blowing around the boy now as he turned on the enemy. They outnumbered them, but Daniel had power to spare. With a loud grunt, the boy pushed his hand down in the air, causing force to push down all the enemies.

"!!" Ouka perked up at what Daniel was doing, before releasing a sudden wave of magical energy with a breath. Sweat beaded his brow due to his previous injuries as well as his newer ones beginning to catch up with him, but he proceeded regardless of his own physical health and whatever pain he was in.

'Pain means I'm alive.' He thought to himself, jaw clenching as he focused on maintaining the barrier he put up for Daniel as well as what he was about to do next, he held his crystalized weapon up defensively.

The very water in the air around the 9s bubbled and floated seconds before it stilled, then came down as he added pressure to the force that Daniel exerted over their foes, hoping to aid the other in finally subduing their common enemy.

"Prototype! Protect the brothers!" Yashamaru sped ahead, taking his place near Sean. He raised a hand, feeling the barrier around the younger brother. "Your brother..." he said. "Is he some sort of magic user?" The thief was no stranger to magic, being a tengu himself, but he didn't think a boy like Sean would be familiar with it, much less Daniel and at such a young age.

Shadows quickly swarmed Kayn's chest in order to act as a cushion, but the heavy bar of gold still slammed against him, causing him to gasp and take his breathe away. At the same time, his momentum carried him forward, clumsily slashing at nothing. His scythe clanged as he doubled over and fell to his knees, using Rhaast as a support. Luckily, the hit managed to bring Kayn back into his body for the time being. His face twitched in pain as he looked back at Frost, wracked with sweat. "Don't compare me with filth like you!" he yelled, standing up shakily. "The three champions I've slain deserved to die... and the guards to the hotel were simply in my way..." He felt little regret for the lives he had taken here, but his fractured mind only plunged further into his memories. The blood of the innocent really was in his hands. It was true. He could never truly wash off the blood he had shed all those years ago. He was no better than a Noxian--

"Did Trace deserve to die?!" Frost growled with 'righteous' fury. He pointed a frozen finger towards the 'evildoer' before him. "Yeah, bitch boy over there," Bad Girl motioned to Frost with her head. "Was a chicken shit wuss and poisoned us! Surprise surprise not only was he a whiny bitch all along he was also a loser!" Then she looked at Kayn and Rena. "And these two just lost their fucking shit!"

"It's a lie!" He spat. "A devilish trick from our 'friend' here! They want to turn you against me! They want sow the seeds of--"

"Yeah--" Katey turned her weapon towards Frost. "Even I'm not falling for that one. Great work. Now I'm suspicious of you both... that's just... great..." She slowly moved her weapon from one maniac to the next. "Just... great!"

"You think he's just going to bow, turn around, and wait for us outside?" he yelled, shaking his head, "Why are you all idiots?"
"I think maybe all of you nutbars would have the sense to get the hell out of here before the four of us throw you out!" Chuck growled, swinging his knife about as he spoke. "What the hell is wrong with you people?!?"

"You know what?" The Captain of the Guard snapped. "I'm sick of this!"
An electrical taser bolt rippled through Allison's body, temporarily paralyzing her. Her stiff body stuck the street with a crack. One of the guards ripped her quiver from her back and kicked her bow down the road.
"You could have played nice!"
The Captain grumbled, lifting her right arm. One of his underlings lifted her left. "But you just had to waste our time. You just had to start throwing your arrows about the place! We gave you a chance to comply and you spat in our faces! Damn outsiders..."
Their pair of guards dragged her back into the factory and tossed her down before the King of Beggars. They kept their weapons trainer upon her... just in case...

"Well," Eight Hearts chuckled after listening to the King's tale. "With so little life left, what else can I do but at least do something good on this planet? I told you I was a demon. Hell was always waiting for me sooner or later."

The door came swinging open. Juri strutted across the factory floor, her hands pinned to her hips.
"Look who it is! Skulls, Pukey, Slap-Head, Headband and Darts... Quite the reunion, huh?" The Hunter tossed a pale sack onto the floor. A stack of motor parts came rolling out onto the floor. "Hey, King. The Job's done. Better lock your doors tight tonight-- the District-Border Patrol are going to start missing their generators pretty soon."

"Thank you, Mz.Han... I trust you've already met your fellow hunters?"

"Met them, told them to go screw themselves, the whole routine." Juri laughed. She threw her leg up onto the edge of the conveyor belt and leaned in towards the King. "What I want to know if what they're doing here. I thought we had an exclusive thing... you know I don't like sharing, baby..."

"Be reasonable now, Mz.Han. We didn't sign any dotted lines." The King thinned his eyes. He smiled didn't change. "Besides... these hunters are a touch less... mercenary, than you are. You can help yourself that whatever takes your fancy in the store room... in the meantime, your colleagues and I will discussing something universally beneficial..."

MALL
Ouka's spear was enough to skewer another one of the 9s like kebab. His body was sent skidding back into crowd. Unshaken, their cheering simply grew louder. Before he could kick the next guard, however, a camera flash burned his open eyes, stunning him. The Bounty Hunter was able to react a moment or two before the kick connect. With a muffled cried, he caught Ouka's leg and tossed him into Samus. Both Hunters were sent sliding across the Mall's floor.

The combined force of Danial and Ouka, however, was enough to make short work of the remaining 9s... and the crowd behind them. Tossed like Ragdolls, the final few hunters slowly staggered to their feet. They cradled their cracked helmets. They nursed their sprained wrists. Before they could twist their bodies back into shape and prepare for Round Two, the Blade Wolf had obediently made his way towards the Hunters, his saw-tail revving.

"This... this isn't over!" The Leader of the 9s snapped, scrambling for his weapons. "We'll be coming for those bounties... no matter who we have to out-source!!"

They shot their grappling hooks upwards towards the mall ceiling. With a wiz and a hiss, they rattled back up towards the roof and sprinted off into the wider city.

"Out-Sourcing..." Samus muttered to herself. "I don't like the sound of that..."

Another camera's flash illuminated the side of her helmet. She squinted and turned her blaster in the direction of the flash.

"Clear off!" She commanded, her weapon humming to life. It was an empty threat... but they didn't need to know that. "I said clear off! I won't say it again!"

A few more cameras flashed as the crowd slowly dispersed.

"A moment to think..." She breathed. "It's about time..."

Aran slowly opened her eyes.

"Now... Who are you people?"

Marianne was shaking. Her heart was pounding. What was going on? Why...she didn't care what was said about her. The insanity, the phantom...it didn't matter. Her words were fragmented, disjointed. "We...the chandelier...audience...in danger!"
OPERA
Haytham lunged towards the base of the Chandelier, desperately surveying it for something- anything- that they could repair. His hand was kept at bay by another snapping wire.
"There's nothing I can do," His eyes were wide with confusion. He tone remained surprisingly calm. "The Chandelier is coming down. It's too far gone. Our hands are tied." He slowly stepped away from the light's supporting wired. "Unless you have an ace up your sleeve, our goal has changed-- we need to focus on getting as many people out as we can." Haytham looked down at the rabble below. Terror didn't quite describe what the audience was feeling. They was consumed by fear. They were crawling each other, like ants over apples. The stampede had already charged towards the doors, only to find them locked and barred. "We need to get outside and open those doors. We don't have a moment to lose!" With a swish of his cape, he sprinted across the same beams that phantom had just moments before. "Come! Time is of the essence!"

After he got back to his feet blinking away the spots in his vision from the camera's flash, he swung wide, attempting to destroy many of the closer bystanders' phones with a wide horizontal arch of yet another crystalized lance, attempting cut their phones in half yet keep their fingers intact. "Goddess save us all..." The King cursed to himself. "The direct answer is that Mz.Han has been running a few errands for me. She's been dismantling the District B's Border Operations. One of my goals as King is to open up my territory to the rest of Prudence. If we can break down the bridge blockades, we wouldn't need to turn to my brother for help. It would change everything. Mz.Han is capable of performing tasks the rest of my men could never perform, Goddess bless them..."

"Oooohhh, you can say that again..."

"Private?"
Juri pouted and cooed. "Pity... I guess that makes me a Gate-Crasher."
She leaned in close to Eight Hearts and flicked one of the glass domes that covered his hearts.
"What are you going to do about it?" She teased. "Come on... It's not a party until I show up... besides, you've already brought the chains..."

Ventress turned her head to the side and gagged. The King buried his head in his hands

"Then again, if your face matches the rest of you... well, we might be incompatible..."

"Juri..." The King groaned. "Please stop... you're making out guests uncomfortable..."

"With a little light teasing? A little bullying? Come on, your majesty... that sounds like jealously to me..."

"Goddess help us all..."

"Against my better judgement..."
The King sighed. "I'll call for a medic. Perhaps you'll accept this kindness and pay it forward..."

"Working for... working with... Depends how you look at it." Frank slowly raised his hands, his eyes fixed on Narancia. "He had a job that needed doing. Said he'd pay me in an interview. The other hunter did most of the work. I just grabbed some photos. "
He pressed down upon the flash of the camera he held in his right hand and snapped a quick shot of Aerosmith.
"I'm a freelancer. Solo. My own man. I go wherever the story takes me, and today? It's taken me here. You satisfied with that answer, pal?"

SAFEHOUSE
Bad Girl was met with an unpleasant surprise. The phone wasn't buzzing because it was receiving a call. It was buzzing because an important alarm was going off.

[KATEY] The Phone screen read. [TAKE YOUR ZOMBREX. NOW!]
[REMINDER 1 OF 3]

"Well... why would I leave now?" Frost sneered. "I'm in the company of friends, Kayn... So long as they're around, you can't hurt me." He threw his head back and laughed a twisted laugh. "Perhaps I should play into your delusions..."

Frost flexed his muscles and sent his long suppressed power flooding to the surface. His mass increased threefold. His height increased until he dwarfed even chuck. His tail thumbed down upon floorboards. He begged his foe to make the first move.

"I'll play the villain, if you want me to. I'll gloat and brag. I'll sneer and scoff. But remember this, killer..." Frost grinned, pointing towards the poison needle upon his wrist. "Kill me, and you sentence all these other lovely folks to death."

He mouthed 5 words.

You'll never find the antidote.

Chuck dropped his knife and backed away from Kayn. He slowly moved towards the door. He grabbed his daughter's hand and pulled her back towards the kitchen, his eyes fixed upon Kayn all that while.
"HC!" He called out over his shoulder. "It's safe to say that this safe house ain't safe anymore!"
"Come on..." HC cursed to himself, slapping the top of the draw. "It's not here, Katey!"
"Come on! We need to go!"
"Guess life isn't fair after all..." HC sighed, pulling himself up of the floor. "Guess we'll just have to come back once they've finished killing each other... Ladies?" He called over the Kitchen counter and he slowly made his way towards the door. "You're welcome to join us!"

Eight Hearts chuckled at Juri's antics. "Oh it's quite alright. She's not the first one to proposition me nor will she be the last one I'm sure." He looked over to King and then to Juri again. "Well if you are as close that you are implying you're welcome to join us I suppose." What's the harm in that really?

Ugh, what a whiny bitch. Bad Girl didn't know if Frost thought she was down for the count or not it was time to do something. Silently she gripped her bat with both hands and if Frost wasn't looking she was about to pay dividends on the threat she had told him what seemed a lifetime ago. Stick her bat up where the sun didn't shine as far as she could and swing him around like a. Fucking. Puppet. On. A. Stick.

Yashamaru let out a sigh of relief as the battle reached an end. It seemed as though things would be far less hostile now...if only for a few moments. And these others all seemed at least somewhat reasonable... "My name is Yashamaru Kurama," he said. "This is Sean Diaz and Prototype. We came here to collect Daniel, but I suppose you all work as a team?" More mouths to feed and more bounties to pay, unless there was still time... "I need to make this quick. There's someone in an amusement park who can help us get the bombs Tormo planted deactivated. But we have to move fast if we want to do so, there's a maniac already there."

Yashamaru would give Prototype a pat on the head. "Can you get us the quickest route to the amusement park?" Whether anyone joined him or not, he didn't care. If he could at least get his bomb deactivated, he could give any companions his gold and wait for Arcade to collect his favor. He didn't want the brothers to get caught up in that deal.

Marianne wasted no time in following Haytham, her own panic burning inside her. As many as they could...oh Goddess, did that mean people were going to die after all? How could someone be so evil, to lock innocents in a death trap for no reason? Why would someone choose to be so utterly wicked? As the two of them made their way along the beams, Marianne whispered a silent prayer for the souls below...and for her own forgiveness, should she fail to help them.

Kayn felt his heart skip a beat in the face of Frost's power. This fight would be a true test. He needed to focus. "It's about time," he replied to the leaving residents. He gripped his scythe as it flashed an almost-blinding red light. "Oh, I don't plan on fully killing you," he laughed, "You'll wish I was." He gathered strength in his legs and kicked off the ground, zooming straight towards Frost!

But he made no distance. He moved no more than a step, weighed down by an impossible weight. Blood dripped slowly from his mouth until he coughed up a puddle, dropping to his knees.

"...?!" He looked down at his pierced chest. He didn't remember swinging his weapon, so how did this happen? Blood seeped from his chest cavity, the place where Rhaast had bit down. He felt lava flow through his veins as the corruption spread unconstrained throughout his body. The pain was excruciating, but he refused to scream.

He couldn't scream. Kayn could no longer see through his eyes. Instead, he was falling through a dark void and into the grasp of the Darkin he sought to destroy. "I've waited eons for this, Kayn! It's too bad you let it come to this..." Rhaast spoke mockingly, poking Kayn's face with his sharp nails, "You're a failure. All those plans you had; I could see them all! It looks like Zed will have to find another successor to the Order of the Shadow. You let your hubris get the best of you; you were a fool to think that a mere mortal could control a Darkin such as I! Now the whole world will pay for your carelessness. I will bathe this realm in blood, and it's all because of you!" He cackled devilishly. Kayn opened his mouth to reply, but he no longer had lungs. "The shadows have a new master! GOODBYE, KAYN!" Rhaast roared, grabbing Kayn's head and crushing it between his fingers. The assassin's entire body dissolved into pure blood, becoming one with the Darkin's frame.

Everybody else would see Kayn surrounded in dark red energies, his flesh contorting and morphing into inhuman carapace. Then, an explosion cracked the ground beneath him and sent a small shockwave all around, slamming small items against the walls. The shadows in the room were largely unaffected by the transformation, but now the shadowy tendrils were bathed in a sea of crimson. Within the smoke and debris, a new voice rattled everyone's ears. "Ohhhh, these legs will take some getting used to..."

The Darkin twirled his weapon-self around and stretched his new arms and legs, cracking nearly every new bone he had. "Which to wreak first? Carnage, havoc, or mayhem? I just can't decide..." he salivated, as if looking at a restaurant menu. His baleful eyes set upon Frost immediately after. He smiled. "No, actually I think I'll start with dessert. I can't wait to crack you open! Your blood will decorate the ground. And the walls! Everything, really..."

Rhaast finally charged Frost, kicking off the ground, but he landed short and instead leapt to the side, melting into a wall.

I do like this trick... He swam around before dropping from the ceiling, aiming to plunge his weapon-body deep into Frost's chest!

“Ugh... Does your associate have a name?” Narancia asked, “The other hunter?”

"The do." Frank squinted, lowering his hands. "But I don't give away my sources. Call it... a professional courtesy. Unless you have something to offer me in exchange for this information, you can read all about my associate when I publish my story, just like the rest of the multiverse."

Chise squirmed, nose scrunching as if she smelled something bad other than the blood from Allison's wounds.

"Do you always flirt so... aggressively?" She grumbled under her breath. She didn't even know if that was the right word for Juri's flirting. Either way she wanted it to stop, she wasn't sure how long she could sit and listen to it.
FACTORY
"Always," Juri teased, having picked up on Chise's grumbles. "What's the point in playing coy when use my big-girl words and get exactly what I want? Those sound like the words of a jealous girl to me... vying for my attention are you? Worried there's not enough of me to go around?"

"Wonderful," Juri cooed. "I'm sure we'll all get on life a house of fire. Say, should I go grab a chair, or are you going to make room for me on your lap--"

"Juri! Please!" The King groaned. "We need to get back to business!"

"Fine... we'll have to save pleasure for another time..."

"Juri!"

"Fine..." She sighed, leaning back against one of the factory's rusted machines. "As you were, sir..."

"Yes... As I was... If you are all willing to assist the people of District C in our plight, there's something you can do for us..." The King sighed, rediscovering his trail of through. "The bag Juri just tossed at your feet contains parts from a now destroyed Cluth and Co. generator. They're used to power the inter-district bridge and its defenses. Thanks to Juri, we now have but a single generator to worry about. It sits at the base of the bridge itself. If we were to send ordinary men to storm the bridge, our casualties would be great... but gentlemen and gentlewomen with your skills? You might be able to spare us a great loss... Do you think you're up to the task?"

The pair sprinted down a service staircase and back behind the stage. Bursting through the curtains, they were overwhelmed by screech of terrified screams. Overhead, the Chandelier continued to groan.
"Their attention... We need to get their attention!" Haytham reached for his ammunition pouch. It was missing. "Damn it all! My bullets must have fallen into from the beams during the scuffle." He thinned his eyes and ran to the edge of the stage. All that screaming... All that shouting... His voice alone wouldn't be enough. "Marianne!" Kenway growled through gritted teeth. He grabbed her shoulders. "I know you're hiding something! Call it a sixth sense! I know that you are capable of more that you are letting on! Play your ace!!" He pleaded. "You're forcing my hand! Play your ace, damn it all!"

"I'm not jealous?" Chise replied, confused on where Juri was going with the conversation.

Luckily, it went back on track soon enough. Relieved, she brought her hand to her chin in thought.

So he wanted them to destroy the remaining generator? She glanced to Eight Hearts momentarily to try and gauge his thoughts on the matter.
