Innocence

"You're just too sweet and innocent. I don't even have to try to dodge. But that's okay. It's who you are. You don't really want to capture me. You wanna be my friend."

@Raynar Saassin

"No. The Magnificent Sans must always capture a human! But it wouldn't hurt to be friends with one though!" Swap!Sans exclaimed as he continued his pointless and easy-to-dodge attacks. Was he even trying?

The following options were available to Mason post-turn:

♡Papyrus
♡Swap Chara
♡Pun

@Alex Azure

"That lazybones couldn't capture anybody even if he tried! The Magnificent Sans knows how to capture people, and I will definitely capture a human!" Swap!Sans exclaimed as he yet again continued his pattern of useless attacks.

The following options were available to Mason post-turn:

♡Swap Chara
♡Pun

@Alex Azure

"No, because they are a likeable person! And adorable!" Swap!Sans exclaimed as his memories came back!

"The Magnificent Sans thanks you Human for rescuing me from that weird creature! Now try not to kill him, we could try to be friends with him! Maybe! Mweh heh heh!!"

Back to the fight now and there was only one more person to SAVE: Classic Sans. This one cuts straight to the action:

The following options would be available to Mason:

♡Take Break
♡Joke
♡Judgement
♡Promise

@Alex Azure

Take Break

"Okay, Sans, I know we have a lot to talk about here. Being Classic, you might be the hardest to restore your memories with. But I've had to dodge a LOT of bones today. Perhaps, for just one round, can we take a break?"

Mason sat down on the ground, looking out of breath.

@Raynar Saassin

"Just give up... I did." Classic Sans exclaimed as he proceeded to launch bones towards Mason at regular intervals until it was his turn again, which he would have the following options:

♡Joke
♡Judgement
♡Promise

@Alex Azure

Mason took all of the damage in his sitting position, using up another Last Dream. 5 left. When his turn came around, he chose:
Judgement

"Earlier, you judged my soul what do you think now, after all we've been through?"

@Raynar Saassin

"I think that you could use a little bit more work. But 'sides from that, you've yet to gain any LOVE or EXP. Perhaps a bit more work but you've been pretty cool." Classic!Sans exclaimed as he continued his patterns of attack.

Mason now had the following two options left:

♡Joke
♡Promise

@Alex Azure

Joke

"Well, you haven't seen my jokes. Tell me if they need work. I got a good one."

"Knock Knock."

"Alright, kid. I'll bite. Who's there?"

"Interrupting cow."

"Interrupt-"

"MOO!"
Mason shouted at the top of his lungs before Sans could finish his end of the joke. Mason had the biggest shit-eating grin his face could handle until Sans took his turn.

@Raynar Saassin

"... Heh. Good one, kiddo." Classic Sans responded as his memories came back!

"Heh. Your jokes heavily need work, but that's 'sides the point. I'm rootin' for ya, kiddo."

@Alex Azure

"Thanks, Classic. I'll keep that in mind."

With all the AU versions of Sans saved, Mason returned to the technicolor battlefield with Monster Kid. His SOUL hovered over the FIGHT button. His SOUL was glowing with aura. He held out his hand. In it appeared a sword that sparled and shined like a star. The blade's edge was covered in weaving patters of white light, the magic of monsters. The force of will of all monsters to be free flowed through the veins of his sword. He held it high and brought it swinging down.

And it stopped. Just short of the earth-bound god right in front of him, his blade stopped. Mason lowered his weapon. A text box appeared that read:

*There's one more you need to save.

SAVE
MONSTER KID

The aura sword turned to dust in the wind. Once again, Mason focused his heart on searching the auras around him. This time. He searched past the amalgamation of souls and into the true soul at the center. Tears began rolling down his cheeks. He hung his head trying to hide them with his hair falling down in front if his face.

"I know what kind of person you are, kid. You lost the family you love. You've lost everything. You think that you can fill the void with adventures and fighting. This is all a game to you, right? It's a game you can use to cover the hole in your empty heart. By playing the hero or playing the villain, you can hold on to the illusion that you're still young. Maybe if you keep on playing your role, you'll find something new that can replace what you've lost."

Mason's head rose and his eyes met Monster Kid's.

"You're not alone! Sometimes the world fights against us, but you don't have to fight back alone. Find someone else, find some friend, and you'll be stronger together. Break through the rut. Break free."

Mason held his arms wide open, ready to accept a hug.

"Now c'mon. Let's set things right. Friends?"

@Raynar Saassin

"..." Monster Kid just stood there, staring at him.

And then.

They hugged. Monster Kid ran over to Mason and gave him a warm hug. "Yes. Thank you. This fills the void... I never felt anything as a Temmie, seeing as I never had a soul while there..."

@Alex Azure

Mason hugged back just as tight.

"I know what it's like to lose everything and be alone. But I found a place where I belong, and I've made plenty of friends. And..."

Mason pulled away from the hug and gave Monster Kid a serious look.

"And you deserve to live outside of being Temmie. You deserve to be free and to have a family again. But those souls inside of you, keeping your soul alive, deserve to be free as well. There has to be a way."

Mason closed his eyes. For a long time there was silence. His brow furrowed, and he massaged his temples with his left hand. He searched for an idea, something to save this friend he had made.

"The World's Heart, my necklace, stores hearts."

"Oracle, a fairy, lives inside and is able to manifest physically without issue."

"But Macy, a human soul, was trapped inside. Her voice grows quiet, I constantly forget her, and only pieces of her power can escape. Her soul isn't able to manifest anything without my help."

"So, human and monster hearts behave differently. If Oracle is anything like the monsters of the Underground, then..."

"Your bodies aren't made of physical matter! If I were to take your soul along, you could be free until I could find a way to keep you safe as Monster Kid and not Temmie! And if I get back home... Yeah, she should be able to help."

Mason removed his necklace and thrust it forward with confidence. The golden locket shined in his hand.

"Monster Kid, this is your escape! We can run away from this world without looking back! I don't know when we'll get there, but now is the time to leave. We've all got to start from somewhere, and it's right here for you. The possibilities are neverending. We've got our futures agead of us and infinite tales to tell."

"Release these souls and I'll SAVE yours. I promise."

"Inky, start getting everyone back to where they belong, universe-wise. I'll meet you in the hub."

@Raynar Saassin

"I understand. Good luck with whatever it is you have planned, Mason. You've done a great service to this verse." Ink!Sans exclaimed as he escorted each of the different Sans's to their respective Universes.

Meanwhile Mason was now alone with Monster Kid. "I will. I will release all the souls and destroy the barrier. However... I won't be able to stay as this afterwards but I am willing to accept that in order for everyone else to stay safe."

@Alex Azure

"Alright... If you're sure, then let's do it. Let's save the world."

Mason gave Monster Kid one last hig before letting him complete this story.

"I wanted to save you, but I guess... I guess that isn't what destiny has in store for us. Maybe in the next loop, you can be saved."

@Raynar Saassin

"Maybe." Monster Kid responded as all of a sudden, he began floating in mid air! All the souls of the remaining monsters and the six other human souls floated around him as they all glowed brightly including him as all of a sudden, a loud shatter could be heard in the distance!

The Barrier has been broken.

"Now everyone is free! Well... everyone who is still alive."

View attachment 2934
"Chara... Asgore... Anyone else who got in Genocide Chara's way, they're all gone. And that voice from the necklace, she's gone too. I wish there was some way I could make things right... to undo everything I've fucked up..."

Mason's prayers were answered. As the power if the six human souls left Monster Kid, Mason became the creature with the most Determination in all of Underswap. A button appeared before him:

[RESET]

Despite her absence during the final battle, the Oracle fairy was still alive and watching the events unfold. She appeared beside Mason and said, "Mason, wait. Think about it. You've been the hero. You've won. You've saved the day!"

"But I haven't saved everyone."

"You can't save Monster Kid. His fate is scripted!"

"My fate isn't. Neither is Chara's. The Chara of this AU didn't deserve to die."

"She was going to kill everyone!"

"And through enough chances, she'll learn pacifism. She'll save everyone."

The fairy sighed, "Maybe someday you'll be the hero too. I can't really stop you, can I?"

Mason pressed the button, and in an instant the world around him changed. In a flash of light, the sands of time reversed their flow. The world was restored to its original, intended state. Asgore waited in the ruins. Papyrus was slacking off. Alphys was protecting Waterfall. The human souls were again confined. Temmie was prepared to greet a new friend. A human was about to fall down.

And as for Mason? Well, being in a world that he didn't belong, he was thrust back into Undertale's multiversal hub. Luckily, his memories of this adventure, and those of the other Sanses, should remain intact. Mason was laying prone on the ground, almost as if he had just fallen from above. He picked himself up off his feet and observed his surroundings.

"Oracle, you alright?"

"Some-some-somewhat. That rese-se-set gave me th-the jitters. I'll be fin-n-n-n-n-ne once we get home."

"Okay... Macy, are you still there?"

"I... I think I died? But like, double death? It felt the same as last time I died. But I'm better now. Well... I still don't have a body, but my soul is kicking!"

View attachment 2935
"And Inky... How is the multiverse doing? Everything all good?"

@Raynar Saassin

"Everything is slowly returning to normal. I've isolated that version of Underswap and created an entirely new one. See for yourself:" Ink!Sans exclaimed as he pointed Mason towards the freshly created observer portal in which he would discover Chara's existence:

"W-where am I?" And that Chara began walking through the Underground, unknown to any route; Pacifist, Genocide or even neutral. Just a random child falling down the hole of Mt Ebott.

"Wait a minute, wasn't they supposed to be dead?! What the fuck, Ink?!" "Relax. The Underswap Chara is the one who replaces Frisk in the story. Frisk in their world is the one who was the first fallen human, whereas Chara is the last one." "What about the one we were trying to kill?" "Oh? Her? I made her separate reality a living hell. One where the Sans of her world always wins."
