"Great, you're a lifesaver! Now, this might just feel a tiny bit weird, but...!" Kazuma exclaimed, grabbing Clarisse's hand without even finishing his sentence, as though believing he didn't have enough time for even that, but at least wanted to get the fair warning out of the way.

With that, using Drain Touch, he drained Clarisse of some of her energy right out of her, a shivering, tingling sensation riddling her body as she could practically feel the energy leaving her. With Kazuma's other hand extended around to the back of Megumin's neck, he then proceeded to transfer said energy to Megumin, hoping to replenish her, just so she could wear out all her power again.

"C'mon, Megumin! C'mon, c'mon! We have another use for the power of Explosion again, so get crackin'! I gracefully bestow upon you this power of the other Explosion-crazed girl!"

The bonfire would ignite. As it roared to life, soldiers who had been huddled around the smoldering fires raised their blades to finish off the oncoming horde. They cheered as they did so. The sound of steel clashing against steel rose around you, soldiers standing firm to fight off the last of Valindra's horde.

Everyone's walk back to the main gate would be quiet. When you arrived, Sabine could be seen ordering troops into a formation. "HOLD STEADY!" She shouted. "AND BRACE FOR IMPACT!" She gestured to all the recently arrived soldiers. "Get ready, everyone." she said.

As she spoke, a large flap of wings could be heard and a large skeletal creature perched on a watchtower. It roared towards everyone.

Sabine would mutter one word as she ducked behind her shield.

"Dracolich."

The tentacles would break out and Rhazzad would let out another harsh scream. The whip would tear into him. Before collapsing did one last move. It threw a green torch towards Ryze, hoping to catch him in a magical blaze. The tentacled illusion would collapse leaving nothing but a cloak wrapped around a second journal.

The room was quiet, save for the sounds of the giant energy pillar. Research papers and alchemical equipment were strewn about.

"I'm sorry, I don't know much of her power..." He said.

As the group went deeper into the tunnels they’d hear voices. “They’re following us!” And “Grab the crown!”

When you entered, you saw a group of Nashers jumping through what appeared to be a portal. One dressed in a cloak with a symbol on it would face the group. It would be the same assassin Elizia had tackled the previous day.

The symbol stuck out among the various Nashers:

"SHIT!"

As soon as she saw the group, she grabbed the crown and jumped through the portal. It would close behind her, leaving two Nasher soldiers in there. Another rumbling could be felt and a large armored automaton of a knight in the center of the room would come to life. It swung the giant sword at the group as the two Nashers ran towards them.

"Whoa! That's a big one!"
Scorpia seemed mighty impressed at the automaton that was looming menacingly over them. "Yeah if you just want to help us out that would be gr-" Swords drawn and them charging at them implied there was no help to be found.

Seeing as Fjord was attacking the Nashers, Scorpia opted to give Eliza a hand with the automaton. As she blocked its blow Scorpia charged forward to give it a shoulder tackle that might help her make it tumble over.

Now that the fight was finished, he reflected on what had transpired, particularly on Poppy's fighting prowess. She had put up an amazing display of power disproportional to her stature. "I'd appreciate if you didn't refer to me as usele- hiiiii!"

Megumin shrieked at the touch, but everything had pretty much already been explained so she couldn't actually complain. Especially since with this, it meant she got to cast her Explosion magic at a live target twice today! Simply standing still while gripping her staff, she waited for more magic to flow from Clarisse's Charge Bar into her body.

"Aah, having another Explosion user around really is the best! Now, we shall double up on the power of Explosion!"

Once she'd finally felt enough magical energy transfer to her to utilize her magic again, she raised her staff as a number of orange magic circles appeared above the dracolich.

"Let my efflux of deep crimson manifest into an overflowing wave of magic, plunging your bones into the depths of the abyss. Burn to ashes in the crimson wrought by my madness! With the power of two Explosion users I beckon you..."

With her definitely necessary chant almost completed, her magic began to take form.

"...Burst Forth! EXPLOSION!"

Yet again an enormous explosion came forth, this time aimed to obliterate the imposing dracolich with one huge final spell. Or, well, her second final spell, since she'd actually already used her final and only spell for the day. But either way, her final final spell would hopefully strike and incinerate her target!

Even after getting her energy drained, Clarisse was good for another round.

Clarisse repeatedly struck the Dracolich with small explosive attacks, but as time passed, these small explosive attacks began to turn into partial disintegrations of its bony body. Each attack would charge her charge bar up, and each time the beast would strike her, it would rise too.

During this series of attacks, those that could feel the elements would feel Clarisse turning from one with fire to one with light!

"Alright then! Feel my true power! Let's goooooo~! JUGGERNAUT...

SPHERE!"

She attacked in unison with Megumin. It started off with a sphere of hard light surrounding the Dracolich, where things could enter, but nothing could leave. Megumin's explosion struck the beast, but what would've turned into collateral damage if not for the sphere bounced off its inner surfaces, repeatedly striking its intended target.

Soon, ebbs of energy, resembling red and blue shooting stars, converged into the sphere, concentrating it alongside Megumin's ever-so-destructive Explosion.

The clash of repeated explosions within the sphere, big and small, and the density of it caused a black hole to be created at the centre of the sphere, sucking a good chunk of the Dracolich away and distorting its bones!

The black hole, and the sphere, soon disappeared.

All this happened in a mere second, possibly less.

Clarisse was, once more, panting. The light inside her was starting to revert to but an ember.

"Let's start."

Clarisse begins her assault.

Ability_ArmorBreak_4.png

"Nano Analyze!"

Applied to the Dracolich, this strike would reduce its defense by 25%, and reduce its resistance to fire by 15%. This drop in defensive capability would give all a better fighting chance!

Clarisse followed it up by one of her basic fiery explosions in front of the beast's face.

Wendy smiled, watching the flames bellow, before she noticed Arslan was a looking a bit tired. "Hold on!" She excalimed as she rushed over to him. When she got to his side, she placed her hands upon his side and smiles up at him. A gentle wind seems to build around her as she closes her eyes. Her hand cool to touch rested upon Arslan's back as she attempted to use Sky Dragonslayer magic to relax his body and at least restore some stamina.

---

Before long, the roar of what seemed to be another dragon appeared. With her sensitive ears, she heard the name Dracolich being muttered, but that didn't matter. Shaking slightly, she backed away from the dragon, somewhat intimated. Could she be of help in this fight? She wasn't much a fighter, but... i-it's a dragon... I should be able to handle this... She thought, her mind racing from the adrenaline and fear. The mage within the group seemed to cast spells to begin this battle. She looked over at Arslan and the others, wondering how they were taking all this in. What would Natsu do at a time like this....? She thought.

After a brief moment, Wendy stopped backing away and stood her ground as she balled her fist again. The wind began to bellow around her as she looked up towards the dragon, and began to make her way forward to stand near Clarisse, reading to fight alongside the group and help in anyway she could. As she moved, features began to shift. Her hair, normally blue as the sky above started to shift to a more pinkish hue, her eyes following suit. Around her wrist, feathers could be seen, as well as around her ankles. Think like Natsu... What would he say? What would he do?

The wind seem to blow and shift around her, as if bending to her will alone. She stopped slightly behind Clarisse, and gave her best 'Natsu' smile of bravery.

Fjord

Fjord's first instinct was to dodge out of the way of the sword. He had so many options, but the very first thing that came to mind. " ELDRITCH BLAST," he shouted using his controlled beams, aiming one at one Nash soldier and one at another. He looked over at the others. " Well, these Nashers ain't going to beat themselves."

@Minerva @York @Jeremi @Gummi Bunnies
Elizia
@Minerva @Jeremi @Lucky @Gummi Bunnies

Elizia was a little surprised seeing the man recover so much just from drinking a potion, but pleasantly so. It seemed these potions were just as good as a lobster or two in a pinch, perhaps even better. She'd have to look into brewing some herself, but for now, that wasn't really her main focus.

No, right at this moment, there was someone about to steal a prized possession from this very vault; the Crown they had been tasked to protect. Though, the abilities the thief possessed intrigued her, and made her rethink her strategy for recovering this crown.

"A Spellcaster, huh? ... I guess I'll be at a disadvantage..." She said thoughtfully.

After all, melee was weak to magic last she checked, and she didn't have the time nor runes to outcompete a mage with her own magical abilities, nor arrows to overcome such a foe through taking advantage of the combat triangle. No, she had to... Improvise.

Quickly, she sheathed her scimitars, and took off what looked to be some kind of backpack on her, stuffing the sheathed weapons in there, and taking out what looked to be a spear and a shield, both made of some green, durable metal. The same stuff her scimitars were made out of.

Her usual combat gear after all, included two sets for each side of the combat triangle; one for fighting offensively, one for a more... Defensive approach.

The latter of which she would be needing right about now.

...

As they ventured deeper into the tunnels, Elizia couldn't help but be reminded of a more recent venture of hers; traveling to the desolate Crandor Island to slay Elvarg, the dragon that had burnt it to the ground.

Although, instead of a dragon, once they reached the end of the tunnels, where the Crown was held... She found not only the fleeing Spellcaster who had just taken the Crown, but a group of Nashers jumping through a portal.

While she was prepared to utter some rehearsed words of monologue, something about one of them caught her eye; the Assassin from yesterday. She memorized the symbol she saw on that Cloaked Nasher, feeling like it was going to be important, but unfortunately, this gave the enemy a golden opportunity to vacate the premises for the most part, save for two... And an Automated knight ontop of that.

Though the latter was likely security, Elizia saw it as an enemy as well, but unlike the Nashers, perhaps there was a different way to deal with it...

But that would have to wait a little.

As the Automaton swung down with its sword, Elizia quickly rushed forwards in an attempt to block its blow with her shield. She had her Hasta prepared, incase she needed to strike in retaliation, or more likely... Fend off the attacking Nashers too.

"If you are this vault's guardian... Stand down! We are not your enemy!" She shouted towards the Automaton.

Although, she was fully prepared to take it down as well if it was unable to be reasoned with. The Nashers were a well established threat, but she wasn't entirely sure what this machine was attacking them for if it was indeed her to guard the vault.

The thought didn't occur to her yet, that the Automaton may have been... Tampered with.
"Whoa! That's a big one!" Scorpia seemed mighty impressed at the automaton that was looming menacingly over them. "Yeah if you just want to help us out that would be gr-" Swords drawn and them charging at them implied there was no help to be found.

Ryze read through the journal quickly and to great length, appearing engrossed in its information. "Never seen any of this before," he mumbled to himself. However, even with all of the theories regarding planes, he still didn't understand how or why he and a bunch of others were transported to Neverwinter.

Then, he started remembering that glimpse he had of a drastically different city. He hadn't noticed it before because it was only for a brief moment, but that dreary place might have been Sigil. But, still, if one can travel to other planes from Sigil, how would one travel from an outside plane back to Sigil? Perhaps it was possible to go both ways so long as the original travel point was Sigil? In that case, someone must've traveled from Sigil to his world and taken him by surprise, then gone back to Sigil with him, and done something similar with everyone else.

The worst part was that he had no idea where Sigil was. This whole thing was beginning to become a colossal waste of time.

Scowling from this hypothesis, he spoke to the group. "Rhazzad's journal speaks of The City of Doors, otherwise known as Sigil. Apparently it's possible to travel between worlds there, and is most likely the source of our displacement. Obviously we're going to have to figure out where it is so we can get out of here, but just to be sure, did any of you happen to catch a glimpse of a different city shortly before arriving to this one, much like I did?"

Wendy watched as the Dracolich flew off, and pumped a tiny fierce fist into the air. "Alright!" She exclaimed happily. She wasn't sure how long she could keep this form up, but she was willing to give it her all, and with the Dracolich flying off, she wouldn't have to hold on much longer, right?

Wrong. Very wrong.

The Dracolich suddenly reappeared, coming in for a quick swoop towards Clarisse. Oh no! She thought, as she turned in a panic to rush towards Clarisse, hoping to push her out the way in time. Her Dragonforce made her as quick as the wind, but would she make it in time to save her?

Elizia frowned, observing the behavior of the towering automaton. Initially, it looked like it had been aiming to strike at them, but now... She started to wonder otherwise.

Despite how things seemed, it had struck at the Nashers, ignoring what she was saying.

Perhaps it wasn't completely able to comprehend what it was being told, but it had a job to do.

Her mind flashed back to that day she had naively slain a guard dog, protecting the source of the river salve. Had she not subsequently sorted things out, it could have spelled doom for the Kingdom of Misthalin.

In a way, this automaton here had to be the same as that dog; it was put here for a purpose, and that purpose was to protect something. The crown most likely.

While she didn't know if it could understand that the crown was gone, it was clear to her now that it was still carrying out the function it was put here for; it was defending the vault.

As she saw one of the Nashers lunge at her out of the corner of her eye, she quickly raised her shield, in an attempt to parry the incoming swing from the Nasher's sword. Then, if this was successfull, she would use the brief moment she had to retaliate by shieldbashing the Nasher, aiming to knock them unconscious.

After this was done, she shouted out to Scorpia, who had begun attacking the Automaton, apparently not having come to the same conclusion she had.

"Wait! That machine... It's our ally!" She shouted.

Still on the watch for any other Nashers that might be coming for her, she pointed her spear in the general direction of the enemy.

"It's attention... Is on them!" She added.

In that moment, Elizia seemed... Different than before. Despite her tendency to get lost in the heat of the moment, thanks to her thrill-seeking ways, she showed a surprising amount of compassion. Perhaps there was more to her than meets the eye.

❝ Ah, that makes sense, Miss Elizia. This must be the guard that has the purpose of defending the contents of this vault, I presume. ❞ Merlin assessed what Elizia had to say as this situation developed more and more. Though, remembering that he was not so great with these types of conflicts.

❝ In that case, continue what you must, everyone. I shall provide support from this spot! ❞ This was the mage's way of saying "I am not prepared to be fighting so intensely so I'll allow you all to deal with it instead of him." But of course, it would be horribly rude and inappropriate to say at a time like this, so this would do for now.

"Really?" Scorpia asked confused ready to punch the automaton a second time if it tried something. "It seems to want to punch everyone! And I mean I don't blame it! I still don't know if we're Nashers or not!" She wasn't going to let her guard down just yet though. Let the big hulking robot thing do the next move.

"Thank you!"

Clarisse was stunned back to reality as Wendy pushed her away. While exhausted, she could charge up for another ultimate attack if she continued attacking.

The Dracolich's defenses were down thanks to her earlier Nano Analyze, as was his resistance to fire. As its wing began to approach Clarisse, she had to do something.

"Eclipse!"

When she used this move, the Dracolich was now further from using its ultimate attack, and it would be dealt heavy damage.

"Now, take this!"

A triple strike from a one of her more basic explosive attacks dealt heavy fire damage upon the very same Dracolich's wing as it neared her.

"Ha! Bad move!" Seeing another opening Scorpia went in close to get a few good jabs in on the automaton as it tried to pry its sword free. Despite being unarmed, or in Scorpia's cased, clawed, she had quite a lot of innate power that could potentially be enough to damage their attacker in some way.

Elizia
@Gummi Bunnies @Jeremi @Minerva

The magical automaton let out a screeching sound. It finally dug out and tried to swing at Scorpia with its sword. It then tried to prove Elizia wrong by catching her in the tail end of its wide arc with its sword.

This would tcause the two Nashers to begin sprinting (as fast as they could in full armor) towards the room's only exit, right past Shanalotte and Merlin.

With the hits to its wings, the Dracolich would pepper the gatherd knights with bones. Sabine would stab her own blade into its bony, bony chest. Fjord would look at the golem and saw the rest of the group was good with the golem. He wasn't about to let the Nashers get away from here, not when they started this whole mess. Scorpia shouted to Eliza as she blocked the sword strike with her claws causing her to be flung into a nearby wall leaving a clear indenture of the Horde captain in it. "Oww..." That really hurt. The book was entitled “City of Doors and detailed in extensive detail regarding a theoretical city called Sigil at the center of the planes. From Sigil, one could travelo any of the planes with relative ease.

Lucina walked back up the stairs, having gone back down to hold bacl the incoming hordes while the other two dealt with th emage. Now that it was clear, she returned to the room, seeing their enemy dead.

"Forgive me. Their numbers were great. But nothing I haven't seen before. What is it you've found?" Lucina asked. She walked over to examine the book.

Wendy smiled at Clarisse and stuck a thumb up. "No problem!" She said, giddy that she could be of some help. The woman she pushed aside seemed to be proficient as any other wizard in magic. I wonder if she is apart of a Guild.. She thought, before refocusing back onto the battle at hand.

The dragon perched itself, and it seemed to be winding up for something. Wendy knew that look all too well. A blast! Maybe she could counter it? She would probably need help... But she had to try! Rushing forward, the small girl inhaled again, just like before against the dragon, and seemed to suck in the air around her as she pursed her lips. She readied her attack, hoping to counter Dracolich when it released it's attack.

Elizia frowned, seeing the Automaton turn on Scorpia now, as she shook her head for a moment...

"Right. I was... Mistaken..." She muttered.

Just a few weeks ago, she might have struck down the Automaton immediately, but this time, she had given it the benefit of the doubt, or at least she tried to. Though now, it was clear what had to be done.

Seeing the Nashers rush out of the room, she prepared to pursue them, but then she remembered where this vault emptied back out into. With a small smirk on her face, even as the Nashers were stopped, she turned back to face the Automaton... Rushing to help shield Scorpia from any further attacks.

"We've done all we can here. Let's fall back!" She shouted, though... It didn't seem like Elizia herself wanted to follow through with her own words.

Almost like a machine herself, she had half a mind to fight the Automaton until either she or the machine fell, but right now, that all fell upon whether or not it would pursue them if they were to withdraw. While it irked her a little to leave a battle when it was only half finished, she also knew their priorities right now were to capture the two remaining Nashers, and bring them to justice.

The Crown was gone, and it was going to be a painfull thing to report on, but at least they had a good idea who took it. Not to mention that symbol she recognized on one of the Nashers, something that she was going to have to look into when she could...

A group of archers would raise their bows to launch arrows towards the dracolich and support the attackers. A wizard would raise his staff, and Alicetaria would begin charging with her lance. As Wendy attacked, it fired its lightning blast...

Before falling to the ground in a pile of bones and shattering from the sheer amount of attacks it had faced. Its skull crashed onto the battlements, causing the crowd to part around it. The army was silent for a moment before they raised their weapons in victory, shouting towards the sky. In the distance, Valindra could be seen watching. She bowed her head and disappeared.

The soldiers began climbing down the wall, with the wizard approaching the head of the dracolich and putting his hand on his chin. Sabine walked over to him, and they discussed something silently. Anyone close enough could hear them discussing if the Dracolich would resurrect and, if so, how soon.

The party would be cheered as they reentered the city. "YOU SAVED THE CITY!" People shouted. "You are heroes!"

Poppy/Lucina/Richter/Ryze

Sergeant Knox would finally barge up the stairs with his team. "We have the place clear. I see you've dealt with Rhazzad. Excellent work." He said, gesturing to the cloak in the center of the room. "We'll close down this part of town and take final casualties. Thank you for your help." He ooked towards the rest of the group. "The city of Neverwinter will make sure you're rewarded for your effort."

The guards would start cataloging everything in the room, taking notes of the books, potions, and other magical tchotchkes in the room before you all would leave.

Merlin/Elizia/Fjord/Scorpia

Finally, the automaton collapsed, crashing against the statue. It let out a giant creeeeeaaaaaaak as it fell to the ground. its sword flew across the room, landing into the wall. After a silent moment, two Neverwinter City guards ran down with their weapons drawn. They would take the two Nashers from Fjord's grasp. They would then spread out. One would crouch in the area where the portal was and angrily turn to the party.

"They got away!" He shouted, with an angry face. His partner looked at him. "We'll deal with this tomorrow." They would then escort everyone out of the vaults before sending them to the in..

Chapter 2: Of Cults and Chaos

That evening, you all would return to the inn. Various Mintarns sat around, discussing the siege and how the party took down a Dracolich for the second time. They gestured towards Taric, Wendy, and Arslan, calling them "Heroes" and "Saviors of the Mintarn".

Quartermaster Otus had bandages wrapped around him. He nodded towards the ones who had been in the vault. The group who had been at the tower would be given ten gold pieces, each as they entered. Presumably as their reward for performing a private mission.

If he was willing, Ryze would share the information he had found in the book back in Rhazzad's Tower.

The next morning, Sergeant Knox would call everyone together again.

"Good morning. Sorry about this so soon after yesterday." He said. "But The Harpers inquired about you. They heard about your work yesterday and wish to hire you."

"Greetings, I'm Boward, a representative of The Harpers." She said, introducing herself to the group. On her shoulder was the pin that the group who had gone down into the Vaults carried. She began to speak.

"The Cult of the Dragon has begun acting openly, we think they're searching for something of great value. We've noticed their activities up and down the Sword Coast, from Luskan to Waterdeep, bringing widespread violence and eventually attracting us to investigate them." She looked around and lowered her voice. "We're looking for agents who can look into them. We need one group to join the cult to find out what information you can gather. We believe they're working with The Nashers. We need another group to raid a hideout in Blacklake District being used by both. Finally, the last member we sent to infiltrate them, Xalliana, has disappeared. We need someone to look for her." She looked around at the group. "Any questions?"
