Reimu Hakurei - Prolouge
Guess life always had a way of coming full circle, huh?
And that full circle lead to Reimu Hakurei to a talking dog assigning job details to defend this other place called Asgard or something. Apparently, gods of another country lived here. It was strange, the gods never did play dice. A few years ago, Reimu never thought anything more then living through the days carefreely, thoughtlessly with no duties. Ever since that incident with the multiverse, Reimu had told herself to not meddle in affairs she had no control over. If it didn't happen in Gensokyo, she didn't care. Even if they did, she had no obligation to respond.
After all, Reimu was no longer the Hakurei Shrine Maiden.
It was nearly funny, how a year without her had nearly caused Gensokyo to disappear, the barrier fading without the blood of the Hakurei line. Yukari, in desperation likely, must have gotten that new shrine maiden. That shrine maiden's short, purple hair in a ponytail reminded her of someone....but Reimu couldn't care less to try and remember her childhood. All she knew was that the girl was a branch family.
That was all in the past now. Reimu had enlisted, and the present was what she was going to focus on. She was going to fix this fragmented reality poisoned by despair and discord. She had to restore balance to the multiverse. End of story.
---------
Reimu briefly considered her choices. First things first, she had no desire to follow this Cosmo dog into the unknown. But asides from that, Reimu had no preference, everything was just the same, but in different locations. They all included work, and defending something.
So Reimu closed her eyes, held her gohei close to her. She walked, letting instinct and destiny carry her to her destination. Life was always this way, bending to Reimu's advantage without any input from her end. Attacks moved away from her, enemies were defeated before the fight even began, and someone would always be there to carry her if she fell.
Without even noticing, Reimu noticed she had began floating. Flying or walking, it made no difference to her. She opened her eyes, and saw that she had joined the group who would defend the vault. That made sense somehow. All Reimu used to do was defend a building containing a single great, powerful spirit, after all.
Reimu had no further interest in small talk or arguments. She was only here to defend the multiverse, after all. She couldn't care any less about the fellow soldiers. She looked aloof, looking at her gohei while introducing herself bluntly.
"Reimu Hakurei. Former Shrine Maiden of Paradise. Tell me your names and professions, I guess."
