"You're an...odd man, aintcha?" The corner of his mouth turned upward as he extended his hand. "Got a name, pardner? Mine's Jack."

"Yes, well, most rumors at least have some degree of truth in them, don't they? Like dominoes or an arpeggio, they just grow further and further away from the starting point," she spoke, before beginning to look around the area for a map of the town and the surrounding roads, anything that could lead them to this Halure place.

Whether or not she was successful, she wondered if there was anything else of any value they could learn here. The gossip game was likely a longer haul than this, but they didn't have the luxury of that much time.

Releasing Titus's armor and resting her hand upon her hip, the woman tilted her head slightly. "What should be our next move then, Ms. Bayonetta? Should we look around further or make our way to Midtown already?" The Holy Knight asked. How depressing almost that she could get along well with a wicked witch like her who claimed to battle with angels, but the Umbra Witch seemed pleasant enough in their interactions.

She could only hope it wasn't just because of the otherwise grim situation they were all in.

"With so many guilds, a lot of the simple names get taken. I'm somewhat fond of the name though," Macy said, trying to justify Reisbyfe's... creative guild name. She felt like short circuiting every time someone added another statement to the pile. She hoped to get out of this awkward conversation with guards as soon as possible.

"If you wouldn't mind, could you point us in the direction of Halure? Like she said, it might be worth checking out a rumor."

"It's habit, I guess." Chris laughed sheepishly. Before looking up at Jack.

"Thank you, still." She added, even if it likely wouldn't have been anything expensive to buy for her, she didn't want to be rude.

'I guess we don't look too natural right now, huh?' Chise thought to herself before turning to the bartender.

"Um, could I have a glass of water, please?" She asked, while using her heightened 'dragon senses' to strain her hearing to try and pick up anything that may be useful information from any of the patrons in the bar.



"Coalitions, you say?" Chise blinked. Did....did this man know? That seemed like a pretty big hint that he did, really. Maybe she might of been trying to read into it too much.

Wanda shut him down then and there. "We have more pressing matters to attend to. If you are part of the Coalition you know how dire the situation is."

Riesbyfe's grip on Titus' armor was shaken off with a rough jerk before she could willingly release him. Without turning to look at Riesbyfe, the Space Marine side-eyed the Holy Knight, his brown, steely gazing seemed to look straight through her. The grotesque chainsword sheathed on his hip never appeared more prominent.

"Do not touch me again."

Despite Bayonetta's effort, Titus' stony expression remained unchanged and eternally rigid, solely focused on stomping forward and surveying the area around the group like a moving watchtower. He wished to be doing just about anything but walking around and waiting for the violence to escalate. Foolish of these people to expect a Space Marine to be good at anything other than killing.

Titus suddenly frowned at nothing in particular, but continued walking, ignoring any further comments from either of the two women.

Wolf narrowed his gaze at Raven, finding his lackadaisical nature to be bothersome and suspiciously unprofessional. Considering the group wasn't informed of meeting a contact in this world, he remained unconvinced. "We were not made aware of your presence," he began stoically. "How do we know that you are a part of the Coalition?"​

"That's a weird Guild name." The guard shrugged. Considering how many were popping up they couldn't all be winners.

The other guard perked up by the mention of the witch. "It's just rumors," He assured the group. "With the barriers gone it just starts a lot of different things floating around out there."

"G-Guild name? A-Aah..." Riesbyfe stammered, as for some reason the guard's inquiry about what they were even called being what she was fixed on. She couldn't very well tell them that they were agents of multiversal peace-keeping organizations. Even if they had no chance of finding out what they really were, it'd be bad to come out and say they were the "Coalition" or the "M.E.U." even if they never found out what the latter even stood for. The Multiverse Directive and all that.

Man, she almost missed home.

With that, she uttered the first thing that came to mind, haughtily pointing a finger toward herself. "We're... the Fighting of the Spirit! ... N-No, I mean, we're the Fighters of the Spirits!"

Beat.

I will never show my face on this world again.

With a silent nod, Riesbyfe silently turned around and reconvened with the group out of the sight of the guards and general public, listening to the others as they consolidated the info they had just gathered. Well, info that Lancer had gathered, and then Titus starting to walk away from all the nonsense. A very valid move, but...

"A witch, eh? That's better than nothing. Not that I know where this Halure place is..." Riesbyfe sighed as she grabbed onto Titus's armor with her iron gauntlet, charged with enough magical energy for her to emulate a superhuman grip. No need to wander off when they had their info, right?

"... Besides, we stick out quite a bit, so no need to spend more time here than we have to."

Before we go, we might want to see if we can get clothes more to the standards of this area. Try to blend a bit more in." He recommended in response. As much as he would like to keep carrying his current weapons and armor, it had him stick out of the crowd. Sure, he has the firepower to pretty much penetrating any armor a person could carry, but he would be very easily spotted.

The shimmering stopped as she looked back to Raven who still had that lazy smile on his face. "I think it's perhaps time for us to meet up with the others."

"More of you huh?" Rave got off the barstool. "Figured this was too small of a group. I appreciate the confidence too, ma'am. Don't worry, ol' Raven's being honest when he's saying he'll lead you anywhere you want."

"Reassuring, come on let's meet up with the others."

Soon enough both groups converged unto the fountain area where they were supposed to meet and they exchanged their stories.

"So Halure, is where we need to go," Wanda finally said once the briefing was finished. "Raven, do you know the quickest route to Halure?"

Raven meanwhile had sat down on one of the nearby benches looking up into the sky. "Sure do! In fact, I know two routes! One leading through a forest and the other leading through a checkpoint. One's a bit tricky and the other's pretty straight forward. Just 'ave to follow the road from Zaphias."

"Oh but aren't you a helpful one, Raven was it?" Bayonetta replied walking up to where he was sitting and looking him right in the eyes. "And what pray tell is your game?"

Again much like with Wolf's questioning he just shrugged. "Lady, I'll tell ya what I told the others and that's that I'm 'ere to get you anywhere you 'ave to be, and if that's Halure then by golly, to Halure I'm goin' to get ya."

“Why you little...!” Little My fumed. She was so mad that there was only one thing she could see to do. It’s practically what she does whenever she gets mad.

She bites him. She bit down hard on his hand, probably causing a whole lot of pain, before scuttling off into an alleyway.

There, she waited for like, well, it felt like an hour to her but it was actually 3 minutes. After those 3 minutes passed, she saw the group she was traveling with pass by. She took that opportunity and quickly rejoined her group, perching herself back up on Ries’s shoulder.

They soon arrived at the fountain and the conversation erupted.

“Yeah! That’s where all the witches are,” Little My spoke to the strange man who seems to lead the other group.

Soon enough both groups converged unto the fountain area where they were supposed to meet and they exchanged their stories.

"So Halure, is where we need to go," Wanda finally said once the briefing was finished. "Raven, do you know the quickest route to Halure?"

Raven meanwhile had sat down on one of the nearby benches looking up into the sky. "Sure do! In fact, I know two routes! One leading through a forest and the other leading through a checkpoint. One's a bit tricky and the other's pretty straight forward. Just 'ave to follow the road from Zaphias."

"Oh but aren't you a helpful one, Raven was it?" Bayonetta replied walking up to where he was sitting and looking him right in the eyes. "And what pray tell is your game?"

Again much like with Wolf's questioning he just shrugged. "Lady, I'll tell ya what I told the others and that's that I'm 'ere to get you anywhere you 'ave to be, and if that's Halure then by golly, to Halure I'm goin' to get ya."

She bites him. She bit down hard on his hand, probably causing a whole lot of pain, before scuttling off into an alleyway.

There, she waited for like, well, it felt like an hour to her but it was actually 3 minutes. After those 3 minutes passed, she saw the group she was traveling with pass by. She took that opportunity and quickly rejoined her group, perching herself back up on Ries’s shoulder.

"Witches?" Chise questioned as she looked down at Little My. She didn't know if Witches were a normal occurance in this world, but if not it made the MEU member worry a bit.

Worthless? Something about that admittance made Chise frown.

Tilting her head as she thought over his words she hummed.

"I don't mind, myself, but--" she started, trying to check the man's body language for any kind of lie from him.



She expected as much from someone in the group, and didn't blame the swordsman at all, really.

Raven shrugged. "Sorry lady everyone's spread thin as it is so we just got our legs to move along. Considerin' the circumstances...a magic user is a bit of a novelty."

"Why do you say that?" Wanda asked curiously.

"Eeeh long story short a couple of guys kind of made it so like we don't have any magic around anymore. So if someone still has that magic should tell ya they ain't a native."

"I just hope that one guard's okay. This little critter has a bite to her as unruly as her bark," Riesbyfe idly said, gesturing toward Little My on her shoulder somewhat cautiously. It was just as well that they hightailed it out of there quickly enough; they'd all do well to avoid as much undue attention as possible, between the threat of exposing the natives of this world to where they were really from, or alerting the Revanchist to their presence.

However, the prospect of blending in seemed to be made even more complicated by the revelation that magic no longer quite existed in this world. It didn't have to be too much of a wrench in the cog, unless something went disastrously wrong.

Riesbyfe, being a woman of faith however, was an optimistic one.

With a resigned sigh, Riesbyfe spoke between the man named Raven -- evidently a fellow agent stationed here from the looks of it -- and Bayonetta. "Well, if that's the case, then I guess we ought to get moving. I've no desire to see the concert Revan intends to play with the Great Spirits after all. Shall we, then?"

The fact that there wasn't any magic left in this world was a bit concerning. It seemed that the people here weren't too bothered by it, however.

In all his years of battle, Titus has never seen any good come out of psykers and their machinations. He can hardly call it a tactically sound decision to risk the purity of one's soul in the pursuit of immeasurable power. Graia fell into the palms of Traitor Astartes because of a corrupted psyker, and it would be a psyker who led the blasphemous forces to spill any Imperial blood that hadn't already been defiled by the Greenskins. Even the Librarians of the Ultramarines, though they are battle-brothers all the same, tow that line every time they open their mind to the horrors of the Immaterium.

This wouldn't be the first time he's heard the word 'magic' be applied to the work of witches and psykers, and it continues to be an apt descriptor. There's nothing magic can do that loaded gun, well-oiled chainsword, and sheer spirit can't do better.

Titus regarded Raven with a curious stare, his steely gaze evoking his distrust for the man's hidden motivations. It is only instinct to distrust anyone and everyone who offers to help, mainly since Titus has long carried the weight of a renegade upon his pauldrons.

"... Very well. We will march to Halure, then. Onwards."

The Space Marine slammed a fresh clip into the Storm Bolter fastened on his left gauntlet, ensuring that the rest of his arsenal was loaded, primed, and charged. He would begin to tread down the path towards Halure with the rest of the party once they started their march, practically spearheading their advance with the rate at which he walked.

"And here it comes..." Bayonetta replied with an exasperated sigh.

"Why do we have to wait? Surely getting to Halure as quickly as possible benefits more?"

Raven nodded. "Well that's true but I'm sure you guys don't want any trouble on the road. I need to check with my contacts see what's going on out there. Not to mention..." He looked at the massive group in front of him. "We really gotta split up. I'll take one team through the forest and another half will go through the checkpoint."

"How will we find our way to the checkpoint without you as a guide?"

"See this is why I gotta meet with my contacts, I'll get ya a map and everything. Probably need some provisions too for that matter. Two hours tops. It's all I'm askin' for."

As Titus continued walking he suddenly found Bayonetta standing in front of him. "Oh I know you and that frowny face are always in a hurry, darling. But consider this." She leaned in like she was going to kiss him but instead whispered into his ear. "I do not trust that many any more than you do, and that's why I think it will be smarter to have him near rather than far. If he tries anything you have my permission to pump him up with so many holes you'd think he was Swiss Cheese. Deal?" She leaned back with a smile on her face her voice loud enough for the others to hear. "Now wasn't that something exciting? I bet you don't meet many girls who do that now do you?"

He didn't seem to care that some of them were suspicious of him as he continued. "Look you don't have to believe in ol' Raven but you're still headin' to Halure, right? I'll get us there easy."
