Stahlhiem College of Magic

"That is correct." She replied "Magic is an invisible, natural element that is found everywhere in this world from the air we breath, to the trees, and even in living beings such as you and me. Only a select few are able to use magic, and to manipulate it to our benefit. Now if you would all take our your writing equipment, it's time for us to begin taking notes.

Jagton being glad he remembered took out his notebook, quill, and ink bottle. On the back of the cover he wrote down what Borghild had said. He gave Karma a couple of strokes before looking back at the teacher.

As the class wrote down notes, and Borghild went on teaching the class, a small piece of paper, no bigger then a finger nail, hits Jagton on the back on his head. Behind him is a trio of girls, whispering to each other and giggling.

Jagton ignored the paper, but he was irritated by it. He didn't want to lose any notes or get in trouble on the first day. He just wanted it to go smooth. He dipped his quill back in the ink because it was dry. Then he continued taking notes.

A few seconds after Jagton ignored the paper, a small draft blew over him and a piece of paper flies onto his desk. A note, one that read "Hey Griffin Boy. You're one of the heroes who showed that bully a lesson aren't you? Well I'll be keeping my eye on you. OXX -Lyra Gelt" The girl in question is a Borderman with green eyes and short, smooth pale blonde hair.

After the brief second of Jagton reading the note he crumpled it up and put it on the side of his desk. He didn't really care about last night. Plus he refused to have his stress mood swings in the middle of class. He refused to be bothered by the notes. He just wanted to be in class. He continued his notes.

Seeing Jagton crumple her notes, Lyra pouted for a second, then went on to her next target. She wrote down another note, and with her power she did the same thing but this time to Steven.

Lyra looked at Steven reaction with her friends, and the three of them giggled. The Borderman playfully pours out some red chalk powder and with her magic, she blows Steven a red heart and a kiss.

Jagton turned to Steven to see how he was holding up on notes . When he looked he saw what the girl was doing and knew she was the one throwing the notes. He gave a sigh of annoyance and turned back.

Noticing that the girl was likely using air magic, Steven turned back around, quietly tore a small piece of paper from his notebook, and wrote a message:

"Hello. Is there something you wish to discuss? If it is immediate, send a note back. Otherwise, we can talk after class; if the teacher hasn't noticed yet, she will soon."

He then folded the note and lightly held it where he was relatively sure the girl could see it and the teacher couldn't, also attempting to move in a manner that wouldn't attract the teacher's notice.

Seeing that the two girls were having fun passing notes and bothering the two boys from last night, Mikida had half a mind to ask for one herself. However, the payoff probably wasn't worth the pain, so Mikida abstained for the moment. Although she certainly didn't look like she was doing anything due to the fact that she was currently laying on her desk. Sure she was still facing forward and still had her eyes open, but to the casual observer, it definitely looked like she had been shirking her studies. At the very least, it was clear that she wasn't taking notes over anything that was being said.

BAM! Ella's chair hit the floor with a mortifying crash. She'd fallen asleep during the lecture. Sitting in a classroom had never been enjoyable to her, it was just a sure-fire way to get her dreaming.

As she lay on the floor, heart hammering in her throat and her face almost black and burning from the shame, she considered how bad it would be if she just lay there and pretend that falling in your chair and not getting up was a normal thing everyone did. She shook that thought from her mind and picked herself up from the floor.

"Sorry," she mumbled.

Just before she was going to bury her nose in her 'notes' to attempt to hide, she noticed a heavily bandaged student at the front of the class. He must have come in while she was dozing. Thal, she thought.
Shut up Ella, keep your mouth shut. Don't try and take the attention off of your crash and put it on Thal. It'll be another fight. Someone's going to get killed if you can't keep it together.

The class giggled when Ella fell, drawing some more attention to the lass. Borghild cleared her throat and faced the class. The teacher walked up to the student, and what was once the kind, gentle Wastelander Ella had known is now replaced by a stern and cold teacher.

"Now Ms. Beaumont, I'm sure you had a good reason to fall asleep during my lecture. Since you are so adamant about disrupting my class, why don't you tell the class your reason for dozing off." Said Borghild, staring down at Ella with all three of her eyes. The class suddenly had their eyes on Ella, waiting for a response.

Ella tried. She really did. With all of her faculties of self-control, she tried not to let her mouth get away from her, but there was nothing she could do. She didn't realize what she was even doing when the words rolled out, like they were coming from someone else.

"I was trying not to look at the cripple sitting up front there. Does anyone know what happened to him? Did he fall out of a princely bed and knock his princely head? Or did he just run into the wrong people."

The heat was rising to her face again, and it wasn't the good kind she savored. She knew this wasn't the right move. It wasn't smart at all. She'd never forgive herself if anyone else got hurt. It was up to her now to make him hate her the most. Keep the focus off her new friends. If she couldn't keep her damned mouth shut, she would embrace this role. She'd take the fall. It was okay for the Verdenrkin to want her dead.

"What was that? I can't hear you behind all that stuff," she said to Thal.

At the College's entrance, Amhas and his Bladestorm escort had been escorted out of the College by two Void Born guards. The Dignitary and his escort reach the end of the college's stairs before the Void Born returning back into the College. Amhas didn't say anything as he and his bodyguard retreated into his personal carriage. The carriage started moving and a sinister quiet followed the vehicle, one that the Bladestorm felt and feared. It wasn't until the dignitary got to his room located in a remote, but expensive inn, that he was able to let out his agression. The man punched the brick wall, which cracked upon contact, but at the same time broke several bones in his hands. He didn't care, his anger and his adrenaline kept him from feeling anything else.

"My Lord, you're injured! Should I call for-"

",No! Bladestorm you shall not do anything until I say so do you understand!?" Said Amhas

"Y-Yes my Lord." Replied the Bladestorm.

"I have been made fool of by a damned Manling, and I've been looked down upon my a dirty peasant! This shall not go unanswered...no it will not." Amhas thought and he took a deep calming breath. He takes a moment to center himself and soon felt the burning of his bloodied and broken hand. At the sight he smiled and began to laugh for a second but once again took a calming breath. "Bladestorm, I...reconsider. Call for an Apothecary." Said Amhas

"At once my Lord! I shall call upon the finest one this damned city has to offer and bring them here-"

"No! No...I want you to do something different."

"Different my lord? I...don't know what you mean."

"Find one without any...reputation. Preferably a local healer or herbalist with no family to speak of. Take them to a secluded area and offer them to the Cult of the Blood Moon on my behalf." At that name, the Bladestorm clenched his fist in fear.

"M-My lord. What you are telling me to do has no honor, it will be treason, it will be worst then even murder!"

"Do I LOOK like I care Bladestorm!? I gave you your orders and by whatever damned oath, contract or obligation you may have you WILL follow my orders! Now go! Find a local nobody, and kill them. Summon the Cult of the Blood Moon on my behalf and I shall do the rest. That damned Governor will regret not taking my offer. Get out. I have business to do." Repled Amhas and the Bladestorm hesitated for a second but bows and leaves. Once the Bladestorm has left, the dignitary closed his eyes and when he opened them, they flashed teal for a second. A moment later another Verdantkin, wearing dark brown leather clothing with a sheathed dagger at her hip teleported into the room with a puff of purple smoke.

"You summoned my Lord?" Said the Assassin as she bowed.

"I want you to gather information for me. There is a first year at Stahlhiem college. A Verdantkin, the only other Verdantkin in the First Year class. I wish you to gather as much information about her as possible then bring back as much as you can find." Replied Amhas

"At once my Lord. Is there anything specific I must find?"

"Family, living relatives. Those should be your priorities." Said Amhas and the Assassin nodded.

"It shall be done." She said and teleported away, leaving behind only purple mist. Once the Assassin left, Amhas sat down on the bed and covered his face to cover his sinister smile.

At Ella's words Thal immediately stood up with rage just emanating from his mangled body. "YOU DAMNED BORDERLING!!!" Thal tried to attack Ella, but Borghild acted fast as she pointed a hand at Thal and with a single black flash, she summoned a ghostly apparition to grab the Prince, restraining him while he fought to be released from his captor. Once Thal was restrained however, Borghild felt a harsh pain in her abdomen and held her pregnant belly as the pain subsided. Luckily it only lasted a few seconds as she found herself sweating and breathing rather heavily. She looked at Ella with pained eyes, but managed to stand back up straight as she addressed the young woman.

"I...would appreciate...that you wouldn't agitate anyone during class....I would rather not have to discipline you so early in your magical career. And as for you...Prince Thal...I think it might be time...for you to leave...." Borghild's eyes flashed black, giving her a noticeable headache, as the ghost escorted Thal out of the class. As he was being escorted out, Thal looked at Ella with hate filled eyes and whispered to her

"Know that blood shall be on your hands damned Manling." Said Thal. Once Thal is gone the classroom is noticeably quiet.

"Ok...now that...that excitement is over...let us...continue..." The Wastelander walks back up to front of the class, but her vision began to blur, and she stumbled while walking, but suddenly collapsed.

Jagton gave Karma a slight kick and she was up. He ran towards the unconscious teacher checking her pulse with Karma at his side. She was still alive. He lifted her up with Karma's help and put the Wastelander on the griffin's back.

"Steven! Do you know where the infirmary is?!" Jagton shouted.

"I hallucinated my way to the meal hall and got here because I was following her."
Crap, Steven thought. Would the ghost holding Thal back leave without Borghild's magic sustaining it? Steven stayed at his desk, closed his eyes, and began to focus and search for Thal's mind.
