"Eh? Ah... Right... You're right..." Touma murmured almost absent-mindedly to Severa, lethargic even, letting himself be pulled along by the girl without another word. Color had left his face, as though over time, he was becoming more and more disturbed by the very notion of being in this world, Othinus's own paradise.

As the group began traversing into the city itself, as per Othinus's suggestion, it gradually became certain that it was every bit as happy and peaceful as the Magic God described it to be. A sunny, cloudless day. People joyously laughing and talking with each other.

A world without suffering.

A good day.

"Heya, why do you all look so serious?"

A familiar feminine voice addressed the group, and to their side, a certain short, bespectacled, dark-skinned girl stood. Marian Slingeneyer stood there, a smile on her face with her hands poised on her hips. But it was not a sinister sort of smile. No, it lacked any sense of sadism or hint of malice to it. She was not the Marian Slingeneyer that everyone had known from before. The same one who maliciously used her body modification magic to carry out the objectives of her superior. The wicked villain to the multiverse.

Here, Marian Slingeneyer was just a normal girl.

Snapping her fingers, she went on playfully. "It's a lovely day today, after all! Headed to the market, are we?"

"Uhh...yeah!" Severa didn't know this girl, but Libra's look of shock gave her an idea that she was someone they knew. "In fact, we need to hurry up and get a move on. Right, Touma?" She spoke through clenched teeth, tugging on his arm.

"Er...indeed, Marian. I was just...milling over my budget, that's all." Despite his twinge of guilt for lying, Libra smiled at her. Internally, though, he was absolutely shocked. This...was this real? Marian had died like the others, and now, she was...all right?

"Heeey! Marian!" Ben waves towards the dwarven woman. "We were actually going for fast food, Mr Smoothy's, Burger Shack, anywhere really, but sure, we can spend some time at the market.

So, where's Jiren? I always assumed you two were a... you know... pair of people that spend a good deal of time together."

Wil remained silent, becoming an observer rather than a talker. This was the exactpoint that they needed to test Othinus' logic.

And here Ben was, chatting her up like they hadn't tried to kill each other a few hours ago. The Keeper rolled her eyes and followed, eyeing Marian like she was hiding something.

The sequence of events from the ruined corridors of Knowhere to the shining atmosphere of a new Avalon was tiring for Jotaro Kujo.

Him, alongside Giorno, didn't have anything to say to Othinus as lead the group through her twisted ideology point-by-point, employing a strategy that has thus far done nothing to elicit even a snarky taunt or convicted response out of the two Joestars. Giorno walked along the cobblestone pathways of the reconstructed city without much expression in his step or his face, saying nothing to Jotaro as he left his side to explore the city on his own. If Jotaro knew anything about this kid, he's probably just leaving to concoct some plan or speech to get the group back on Othinus' tail, so the marine biologist opted to let the don walk off without any protest.

So Jotaro stood alone once again, blankly staring at the lively face of a girl whom he had personally killed not too long ago.

He shook his head, averting his eyes from Marian and instead staring at his own shoes. This isn't anything new for Jotaro, so why should he let himself get riled up? Everything in this place was 'real', as in it was what the inhabitants of this reality would consider 'real' because just like this new Avalon, these people were redesigned to Othinus' specifications. Their beliefs, their memories, and who they actually are have become irrelevant. They're nothing more than tools for the purpose of getting everyone in the group emotionally unstable.

The moment anyone in the group accepts this facade as Othinus being the virtuous, bleeding heart she now claims to be will be the moment Jotaro just throws his hat on the ground, throw his hands up in the air and say 'I've had enough of this shit.'

Jotaro thought much on this concept because of everyone standing among this group, Othinus may have the most 'ammo' against him, so to speak.

The only person Othinus couldn't use against Jotaro was his own daughter. She's the only person left that's 'real'. She's also the only person among that group that truthfully, honestly hates Jotaro Kujo.

It's funny how things work out. The ocean of animosity and time standing between Jolyne and Jotaro was ever-present, even in this bright and sunny reality where such a thing cannot exist between humans. Othinus couldn't change everything, it seems.

For the first time since the journey began, Jotaro moved from his position at the back of the group and willfully approached his daughter, walking alongside her with his hands dug deep within his pockets and his eyes glued straight ahead as he spoke.

"Jolyne."

Despite the harsh words Jotaro could tell that she was concerned about who or what they could meet here. She went a bit closer to Jotaro and quickly swiped his hand into her own. "We're not going to let that bitch mess with us, right?"

"Heeh, budget, hmm? Hope you don't spend too much then! Better safe than sorry!" Marian says with a friendly, toothy grin, going so far as to even playfully nudge Libra's arm, before turning to Ben next. From there, her brow furrowed slightly, even as her smile remained, and she easily enough waved her hand in the air, shaking her head.

"Whaaat? Me and Jiren? No, no, we're just good friends," she let out a light laugh, seemingly not so bothered by Ben's remark, "I'm already seeing someone anyway, so it'd be pretty scandalous for me to even consider him, really! Though, if you're looking for him, I'm sure he's probably at the courtyard, right past the market."

Clearing her throat, the short girl begins to hop off, giving the group a wave as she goes on her way again. "In any case, I should head home! Don't be a stranger now, alright?~" She asks, before going off.

As Marian began to leave, Touma could only give a pensive look. The girl whom they had previously fought for the fate of the multiverse, the girl who died in the hopes that her next life would be a happy one, was here, having achieved her goal without realizing it. She was alive again, and with no aspirations of evil in her.

"Y-Yeah... You're right. We... should get a move on. Maybe stop by the market, and then cut into the courtyard beyond," Touma said, looking down at the red-headed girl with mild discomfort.

5_zps4b5d5fad.png

"Don't have to be so pushy though..."

As they began to move forward again, Touma looked back at Jotaro and the others. "But... If Othinus is right, what's "real" anymore? If she gets to decide what's really real and what's not... What right do we have to decide stuff like that on our own?"

"Alright!" A smile decorated Ben's face. "I've been waiting to see them again. First thing on the priority list - looking for them. We're getting that table of six!

... or ten, or the entire restaurant..."

Ben grabbed Schala's hand as he prepares to run.

"I just know they'll be excited to see our faces again. The sooner we reunite with them... well... the sooner we see them. Time's a-wasting!"

This wasn't expected to be the next thing they were going to be shown. All of this was confusing. Willard didn't understand the motive here. After those previous instances of the multiverse meant to break them, Othinus gave them a perfect rendition of the multiverse. It was conflicting. To think that the very person they were assigned to take down... would go ahead and do this? The exact opposite of what they expected her to do with her power as a Magic God. Why show this now? Wouldn't it be more effective to break them by stripping this peaceful instance away before them? Willard couldn't wrap his head around the meaning of this, nor did he feel the need to find any familiar faces in this newly created multiverse of peace.

However, the feelings on the situation were entirely different for Dlanor. She didn't know what to make out of this, but she had an urgent need to see someone fast. Her silence had been prominent for most of this, but she didn't forget those words that Willard told her before she would fall apart.

Survive for Erika.

If this was the grace period that the Magic God was granting them, Dlanor didn't want to lose this chance. She's almost lost herself once realizing what she's lost, but she didn't want to experience this twice. Not until she saw her. Without a word spoken, Dlanor immediately made haste to explore this recreated Avalon, searching for that renowned detective she's devoted herself to for who knows how long.

Will could only ponder Othinus' words as she turned to look at the man sitting on the bench. Was this really it? For all their efforts and planning, they ended up failing, trapped in her world of madness and so called 'peace'?

Impossible.

Will didn't believe this illusion for a second. Ben had suggested finding their old allies. Perhaps she could look around, and gther important information?

"I will join you, Ben. Maybe we can find something here that Othinus missed."

"Macy, wait!" Mason cried in vain. It was too late. The girl had already ran off, getting lost amongst the crowd of revived friends and loved ones. He gave a few steps of chase, but quickly slowed to a halt. A hand, outstretched with hope of holding her back, fell to his side. He saw the bright blue ponytail bob up and down above the crowd of people before ducking away out of sight.

With a deep sigh, Mason resigned, "Whatever makes her happy. You're right about one thing, Othinus. I can't give her that. A loving family, alive, well, and functional? That will make her happy. She'll ride off the utopia you've given her. It's not the same for me though."

A response meant for Touma show down Mason's argument before he could make it. He wanted to challenge Othinus's paradise, saying it was boring and lacked adventure. However, she was right. The Hero's Journey always brought more pain to him than joy. As much as he wanted to play hero he wondered if it was good for him. Perhaps the UU was where he belonged, not in adventures at the end of the multiverse. A simple officd job that let him help others wothout getting into danger. Maybe Paradise had room for him yet, but he wasn't about to admit it.

"Alright, let's get going then. I'd take a stiff drink over a slushie and Robin over Jiren, but sure, let's find our old enemies and grab some junk food. Maybe we'll be lucky and find Phil. That would surely be a hole in Othinus's logic of Paradise."

Mason followed Ben, Schala, and Will deeper into Avalon.

Schala flushed, a little... Not really having enough time to process what was happening until she was already being dragged along by Ben.

"Wait! I-... ... I've never been to a restaurant before..." She said sheepishly.

Before she was pulled completely out of sight, she gestured towards those that still remained where they started... Dlanor... And Willard amongst others.

When they ran into Marian... A genuine smile seemed to spring across Schala's face with little to no warning, as she waved to her as well, even though there was this... Nagging feeling somewhere deep down in her, something she chose to ignore for now.

"Yes... The market would be nice. It's been a while since I had anything to eat..." She said shyly.

Ben's teasing about Jiren and Marian being a couple seemed to make her shift a litte nervously, realizing she had never really explored the concept of romance that much. She was either focused on protecting the multiverse, her friends (more often than not, both at the same time), as well as seeking answers which she still didn't have to this day.

However, Touma's comment seemed to bring back some worries that still plagued her mind, even now.

"I wonder... If we're the only ones that remember how the multiverse used to be... Other than Othinus..."

Schala mused quietly, seeming to be pondering what she had discussed with Billy... About the Great Spirits being suppressed, somehow.

If he were right, their time here was finite... Their paradise, would eventually be lost someday, but at the same time... She longed to stay here, for as long as she could manage it. It was like her feelings were warring with themselves on the inside, but in the end... The urge to make the most of what they had won through, for now.

"... Maybe we should enjoy this... 'Paradise' while it lasts... Before we lose it... Perhaps forever..."

A longing look crossed her face as her gaze turned towards the market, then the other areas of the City, as her eyes continued to scan her surroundings for Jiren, or Toppo.

She wasn't sure if even they were in a state similar to Marian, or if they would have memories of the multiverse as it once was before... But in the end... She wanted to see them. Perhaps to try and find some kind of anchor... Some kind of reason, to either fight this reality as it was, whether or not it was an illusion... Or perhaps, to stay here...

"Don't be have to be so pushy though..."

As they began to move forward again, Touma looked back at Jotaro and the others. "But... If Othinus is right, what's "real" anymore? If she gets to decide what's really real and what's not... What right do we have to decide stuff like that on our own?"

"Bye Marian!"

Marian had left.

"Oh right. That guy she mentioned should be alive in this world, leaving her not-single. Yeah, you heard her, we've got our lead. Let's walk through this path and see what Jiren's doing in his fine Gray World. Maybe Toppo's chilling with him, then that would cover three people found."

Touma asks a question - a question about Othinus' society.

VIHYF65.jpg

"I agree with Schala. If we want to find a reason to find this place fishy, we'll need some leads and evidence. To get that, we'll need to spend some more time here and meet more people. If we're intending to prove to her that this paradise won't work and won't withstand the test of time, we'll just have to... well... let it go through the test of time.

Let's have a full scope of this society before we file our complaints to the mayor, alright, Touma?"

The marketplace was filled with many foods.

"Perfect," Grandpa Max approaches one stall, "I was just running out of salamander eggs and farmgrown nautilus."

"NR... gone? NR-John? Energon? What's Energon?" Ben says as he nears a stand with cube-shaped objects and a stall sign above that says 'Cybertronian Delights'. "Looks pretty tasty."

"Ugh, FINALLY we're away from any eavesdroppers." Severa let go of Touma's wrist, turning to face everyone else with her hands on her hips.

"Look. I know it's all great and stuff to see things like we wanna see, but there is NO way this is gonna last! I mean, don't you guys remember what Billy said? Those Great Spirits are being, like, tortured or whatever. Not very paradise-y, if you ask me! Plus, to be honest, I do NOT feel safe in a world like this if Othinus is all sick and weak. Even if this is all nice and fun, it's unstable...I think." Ugh, it was hard to remember everything Billy had said! Too many things kept happening!!

"ANYWAY, take it from someone who actually LIVED in Avalon? We need to find the Hotel. As fun as shopping sounds, that place was totally off-limits unless you were rich, since the guy who ran it was a total snob. So, if this place really IS a paradise, we should be able to get in with no problem, right?"

Of course, the REAL reason she wanted to see the Hotel was because she was never anywhere near rich enough to go inside before. Hmm...maybe Ben could give her some cute rich girl clothes or something!

As Severa gave her two cents, Libra quietly slipped away from the rest of the group. This was wrong. He knew it was wrong to do this, but...the temptation was far too great. He HAD to see this perfect world for himself. What was there for him, someone who devoted his existance to bettering the world, when there was nothing left to improve?

"I think Othinus slipped up if money still exist. If buying stuff exists, then somebody is going to be greedy when selling. Even if the Hotel guy turns out to be somebody who rescues puppies and opens his place to the poor, of we find my family we should be able to stir up some trouble in paradise. If there's one thing Moretti's are good at finding, it's trouble. I'll go with you and see if we can find some at the Hotel."

Chise, much like Libra, slipped away to herself to see what 'home' there was for her now. She had a home, a form of happiness, to return to before.

Othinus destroyed it and shaped it how she saw fit now. Somethig Chise didn't really like like, no matter how 'perfect' or 'better' it was in the Magic God's eyes.

"I don't think Othinus would make it so easy for us. The answer won't be as simple as trying to find a flaw here, especially if she can just rectify it easily enough. Putting a band-aid on it, as it were, but even more effective," Touma says to Mason, running a hand through his spiky hair tiredly. He wasn't sure how much longer he could keep this up, if seeing Marian alone was able to do this much to his mind. After everything, he wasn't sure if he could keep his chin up like Ben and the others.

"Either way, come on, let's keep going. I'm sure that if there's any need for it, we'll be able to easily find our way to wherever else from the Courtyard when we get there, whatever I'm guessing Othinus wants us to see there," Touma continued with a shaky breath.

He could only feel a sense of dread welling up in his stomach, as though he were knowingly walking into Hell itself as he pressed on.

As the group ventured toward the market, a bustling place with people looking through stands, a familiar young woman reached over and plopped a peach from one of the booths into a wicker basket, clinging onto her forearm.

As the lavender-haired woman took notice of the group, she brushed aside some stray hair with her free hand and looked toward everyone with a friendly smile, gleaming almost as vibrantly as the golden ring on her finger.

"Oh, good afternoon. What are you all doing here? Did Makoto send you all after me? I don't imagine I've taken up a lot of time here..." She said, curling a strand of her hair in her finger now. "You know how worried he can be sometimes, making a fuss over nothing," Kyoko Kirigiri went on, speaking with a fond tone. Even those who hardly knew her back then would have known that this was... different.

It was one thing to see Marian alive in this world again, chipper and active, just in a non-villainous way, but here Kyoko Kirigiri was, a serious woman who rarely even smiled or let herself be careless, happy as could be. And to that end, Touma couldn't bring himself to say anything to her at that moment.

"Kyoko..." It was so unusual, seeing her like this. After her misery in the first new world, to see her so happy...it was actually nice. "Oh no," Libra replied. "Our being here is pure coincidence."

"Yeah, what he said," Severa said curtly, arms crossed. It was obvious she was sulking. Courtyard, schmortyard. She wanted to see that hotel!

Like before, Will elected to stay silent, eyes narrowed as she watched the former leader act like some giggly school girl. The Keeper did not know Kyoko very well, but she did know enough about her to see that this was out of character.

"Xing Jin, you seeing this?"

"Yes, Keeper. Kyoko is rather off putting. She isn't the same person we knew back then."

"So what, then? This is an illusion?"

" I'm not picking up any imbalances in the celestial plane right now. But that could be Othinus herself switching the wavelegnths. If this is an illusion, it's a pretty solid one."

"Well that's just great..."

"Oh? A happy coincidence then," Kyoko said with a chipper tone, like nothing she ever would have taken back then. "I suppose it's just as well, Libra. Your wife has been waiting for you up ahead. You shouldn't keep a woman like her waiting for very long, you know," she spoke casually, dropping a bomb like it was nothing.

With that, she looked to everyone else. "And I assume you're all here by coincidence as well? Certainly a lively day indeed. I'm sure Makoto would be quite pleased to see you stopping by."

"I guess here, she and Naegi are a bit of a..."

"........................."

...wife?

"Uh..."

Wife?

"I, um..."

Wife?????????

Out of everything Othinus' paradise could offer...that was one he had never expected whatsoever. A wife? HIS wife? He was married??? This was too much to merely resppnd to, but Libra certainly tried his best.

"Uh...y-yes. I shouldn't keep...my wife..."

Wife??????????????????

"Makoto, huh?" So he was alive...well, duh, of course he was! If everyone else was, so was he. "You guys been well recently?" Gotta not look suspicious...small talk was a good way of that, right?

Rita Hanson

Even in the second happiest place she had ever been ( Rita had been to Disney when she was a girl), she couldn't help but feel that it wasn't as perfect as it could be. Even if everyone was happy, it felt off-putting to her. Almost like a warped mirror. She wondered if Phil was happy here or if he remembered her. It was kind of funny that working with Phil Connors had taught her that he was a nice person under the asshole, beneath the mentally ill man.

Unbeknowest to even Phil probably, she had dated him back when he was in college. The allure of dating a 23 year old college captain of the swim team when she was eighteen had been too much for her high school mind to not do. He had been so nice back then, so much less damaged then he was now. She often wondered if she had a roll in making him who he was after she broke him after he closed himself after disappearing on her for over a month. Had she made him unhappy or was it something that she didn't know? Maybe the answers would come to her, but it wasn't here.

"
Have you seen a man in a suit, dark brown hair ( could be described as black) and hazel eyes?" She asked Kyoko. She didn't want to say his name.

"Mhm. As it ever is. He still dotes a bit much sometimes, but I suppose I shouldn't complain about something like that. And yes, the weather is quite lovely," Kyoko said with a smile -- of genuine happiness, one looked almost unnatural for the woman who almost never smiled -- as she looked to Severa and Max with a nod.

When Rita spoke, she nodded again. "Are you talking about Phil?" She asked, immediately spelling it out, as she tilted her head briefly. "Yes, I think I saw him just in the courtyard up ahead," Kyoko went on, gesturing toward the direction of the courtyard.

"Othinus must really want us to go there... So I guess we have no choice but to oblige," Touma murmured tiredly, the very sight of Kyoko like this -- happy -- distressing him. And just the fact that that distressed him only made it worse...

"Is there something wrong... Kamijou, was it?"

"No, no. I-It's nothing," he said, before giving her a nod. "It's good to see you... as ever. I guess if we're expected up ahead, we should go on again. R-Right, guys?" Touma stammered uneasily, and with that, began to walk forward, giving Kyoko a passing wave as he did so.

As the group went out of earshot, Touma began murmuring amongst the group again. "It's all so real... Like... Othinus really..."
