Who would've thought sinking an axe into what was seemingly sentient moving killer goop would have worked? Izzy certainly didn't. But it did. It striked her a little odd that Klaus seemed sure it would have worked but she didn't dwell to much on it. But at least Claire was here. Abel too, but he didn't seem like he was going to take charge of them. But at least now they knew those things out there could be killed.

"Umm...Claire? Do we really need to fight them?" Normally, Izzy wouldn't have backed down from a fight. But these were monsters they were talking about. These things just killed someone right in front of their very eyes and that would have terrified even the pluckiest of kids.

It would take everyone a bit to calm down. If they dug into the goop mound left by the monster after it died, Davids body was still there, and that's was Klaus did. He'd stay aside from the group and go use Davids still warm corpse to paint huge red X's on the doors of the bungalows and the kitchens. It wasn't like it'd do much, not in this situation, but the legends said stuff. He'd rather be alone for this, but if anyone tried to join him he wouldn't stop them.

Abel and Justin would be preparing torches for the night so they could keep all the campament area light, and they didn't get any surprises even though they wouldn't be outside. The albino had calmed down afterwards with some help from Claire, not that he was ever feeling even slightly stressed about the situation. All he thought about it was that it was hilarious. Everyone was so scared and nervous. The campers were told to find or make themselves some weapons, specially Leon who seemed to be crafty enough, he was told to help the others. Whoever could, really.

Klaus would be joining them soon enough, as Gloria had got her weapon back and it didn't seem like she wanted to share.

So far they had found zero ways of communicating with anyone outside of the camp, their position made it hard, in a valley between fairly large mountains. It was up to the campers if they'd be any help or not during the evening... but the night was soon there.

Deep into the forest, there was some plotting going on. NOON was ready to get into action, as was FNUPL. The goop shepherd, as always, wouldn't be getting directly involved unless strictly necessary... but they had orders to hurry things along, so they would be attacking the children again at twilight.

At that time, when the sun was going down, the campers would hear a monster screaming like the one that had eaten David, and then another one that would join up. At least two, and they seemed to be getting closer... now what would they do?.

Eliza took half of the blood that Klaus had gathered and with much gagging, quietly helped cover the doors with the bloody red X. She took one side of the camp he took the other and in silence they worked, getting the X's put up. It was gross and disgusting, but if it made the difference between life and death than she would be willing to do anything.

At some point between watching her best friend squashed in the mouth of a goop pup and finishing up the last blood coated X, she had decided that she was determined to survive. Whatever it took, she wanted to make it out of this summer alive and breathing. The redhead wasn't sure what kind of survival skills she possessed, but when they finally all met back up together at dinner time she voiced her opinion that they should try to make the walk, in the morning. So far the monsters had only attacked a night, nothing during the day. Sure, it was a long walk but if they stalk together they could make it. And, maybe, there would be someone traveling or they would run into a park ranger who could radio for help.

Sitting around, they were stuck, essentially a meal in a fridge waiting to be snacked on. If they didn't try something, well they'd never have a chance.

This is messed up - that was all Izzy could as she watched Eliza and Klaus gather what remained of David to paint big red X's on the doors. She had calmed down considerably, which wasn't much, but at least she wasn't throwing up again and her tics were settling down a little. Now she was in the kitchen, rummaging for something - anything - she could use that had not already been taken. Lighters, knives, all things that would require getting close to the monster in order to hit it. Better than nothing though. She found a little retractable pen knife in one of the drawers and slipped under her beanie just in case. Oh, and a lighter! That goes in her back pocket.

Wait. Did they still have those fireworks David made? Maybe those could be used as flares...or something! Maybe they could try smoke signals? That was a thing people do right?

Leon helped pass out knives and hefty enough kitchen tools to the other campers, keeping the cheese blade for himself. He wouldn't help Klaus with the painting, staying as far from him as he could. He wouldn't talk to anyone, just small one to two word responses, "Here, yes, no, i didn't find any." Leon especially stayed away from any of the counselors, keeping his distance even when approached. He would stay inside while the red X's were being painted, working on his gauntlet as much as he could. The connectors would work properly, at least there weren't any leaks. He would wish he had that pressure gauge from David, but he didn't even attempt to look over the corpse. Everything seeming like a bad dream, and he was caught in the middle.

Everything was so fucked up, it hardly seemed real. All Leon could do was stay busy with his crafting, the only thoughts crossing through his mind was that of his gauntlet. It was nearly finished, he would just need one or two more valves. Maybe even a line choke so he could control the size of the flame manually. Whether or not it would be any help didn't matter at this point, survival was the only option now. Living through this utter nightmare would be his one and only goal. Any means necessary.

"I didn't even know monsters planned stuff out like this," Nico muttered, taking the steak knife Leon offered him. "I mean, this was- this is an attack. They planned this. Who know how long they've been watching us, waiting for the right moment to strike?"

He watched as Eliza and Klaus painted the doors. "So are we just planning on sitting around here, then?" he asked the group in general. "If we can't call for help it'll be days, at least, before anyone notices anything's wrong. And do we even know if those Xs will work? I thought that was an urban legend?" Then again, at least it wouldn't hurt. But Nico was pretty sure their best bet was to try to make a run for it, make the hike back to town. Sure, they were dead if they got caught out in the woods... but they were dead if they stayed here, too.
