Mr. Moonglade's Extraordinary Orphanage

Remi grinned broadly at Dusk. "There is precious little else to while we're here. Come on, maybe one of them will actually want to leave this joint and go shopping with me for once." Seeing the papers Dusk was shoving under the bed, Remi grinned and reached into the shadows with his mind. Dusk should remember that under the bed was Remi's domain. No place darker than that. He brought the papers through the shadow and back into his hand, winking at Dusk as he waved them. "And if you don't want me to read these, I suggest you come with me and meet the new kid!" He wouldn't actually read them. Well. He probably would. But he wouldn't read them to the others. Right now, it was just a convenient way to get Dusk out of his room and socialising. Honestly, if Remi wasn't around, this place would be a silent.
Remi sank back into the shadows. He felt out with his mind, feeling the places he could come out. Shadows and darkness reached through the whole house. He guessed the kitchen would be a good place to start. It was pretty central. He stepped out of the shadow cast by the cupboard, walking out into the kitchen, where Madi and her cat were eating breakfast, and a new person was standing in the doorway. He grinned. "Morning Madi, Cat," he began, before striding over the newbie, putting Dusk's paper into his back pocket as carefully as he could. He didn't want to ruin the papers. Dusk was actually a pretty good writer. "Welcome, newbie! I'm Remi." He held out a hand to be shaken.

Kardia blinked, looking up at the new person. Remi, hm? He must have been in one of the dorms earlier. His heart looked like the one that she had passed. "Hi. Good morning or evening or whatever time it actually is, I guess." Xe shook the offered hand and turned away, heading for the fridge door and reaching for whatever food was there. Apples? Why not.

"Is this poisoned?" xe asked, tossing the fruit up and down in xir hand. "I don't mind, but I'd like to be in a bed if this is toxic."

Remi smiled at Madi. What an odd newbie. Taking a seat at the table, he grabbed an apple for himself, regretting the loss of pop tarts that he had left in Dusk's room and hoping the centaur would follow soon. "Should be good," he told the new person. "You got a name?"
He reached out with a shadow from under the table and petted the catboy.

Choosing the nearest available room, she opened the door and looked around at the plain floor and walls, noticing the large bed that sat in the middle of the room. Quickly, she tossed her bags onto the bed and propped her door open as a sign to the others that they were free to come in. She was excited that she had a decent sized room and though she didn't pack any decor, she was already thinking about what all she could buy to decorate. Pulling out her phone, she pulled up her favorite app, Pintrest and began making a board for inspiration. As she scrolled, she heard new voices coming from the kitchen and decided to see if anyone knew where the nearest shopping center was.

The cat hissed at the sudden intrusion on his privacy, and hopped down from Madi's lap to get away from the unwelcome touch. He curled up as close as possible to his former spot while still being far away enough from the shadows to say 'fuck you shadow boy', and huffily decided to take a nap.

In the meantime, Madi kept eating her cereal and made no change in her motions, besides pouting a bit to herself when her cat left. Despite the apparent lack of perception, however, an intangible force yanked on Remi's shadowy fingers just hard enough to get a message across: 'Stop doing that! It's creepy!'

The centaur swung open his door before poking his head out from the room. Giving Remi the meanest glare he could, he then turned his gaze to Kardia. Briefly sighing, he exits the room and enters the kitchen exposing himself. "You could've just asked for me to come out rather than steal my papers." Leaning over, he attempts to reach for his pockets. God, my heart is beating like crazy right now?! I-I don't want to make a bad impression but I need those papers! "Give em, or i'll sit on you."

"'S Kardia," xe answered, biting into the apple. "You were in a dorm with someone else's heart. Whose is the heart? It's an interesting-looking program. Do they own the paper in your pocket?" Xe shifted to look at the centaur who'd entered. "It's yours? I want a name."

Entering the kitchen, she saw two new people had joined the group and smiled at them before stopping in her tracks. Was that a centaur? "Hi guys! Does anyone know where I can buy some decor for my room?" She asked, pocketing her phone and standing next to the centaur. "Oh, i'm Xylia by the way!"

"No, I don't. Nor does it matter." The apple's starting to fill Kardia's stomach. At least it doesn't hurt too badly anymore. "Do I have the right inventory for the party's names? Inside right now: Xylia, Remi, Duskly, Madi, and Dageru."

Madi let out a yelp and dropped her spoon when the creepy new person blurted out her name like she was nothing but an NPC in some video game! How did she know Madi's name?! What kind of creepy mind-reading did this girl get into?! And she knew Dageru's name too, which was even creepier since hardly anyone did. Said cat actually woke up from his attempt at napping at that point, and his hair stood on end at the sound of his name being butchered by the little creep he didn't recognize. He quickly returned to Madi's side, and the girl reached out to her cat and picked him up again. At least the other girl seemed normal enough, not prying into people's private information and acting like it was nothing...

"Got it right. Okay. And was the sentient cat supposed to be a secret? Sorry. Pretend I never said that." Kardia took another bite, leaning against the table idly. "Or, you know, don't pretend. Whatever works for you."

"S-Sounds about right, actually. I'm Duskly Quinton, or Dusk for short... Did Mr. Moon already tell you about us?" Duskly's anxiety rose even further with all the looks and glances he was receiving. Dammit Remi. Why did you have to go and steal the erotic section of the story? Oh, how i'd feel better if I could just go back to my room and think things over...

(Another weird post for me...sorry)

Remi held his hands up in surrender at Madi's none too subtle touch. He pointed at Kardia. "You got it." Bit of an oddball. They knew a few too many names, but alright. You got used to weird pretty quickly around here. "So you see hearts, do you?" he asked. Odd power. What did heart even mean?
Grinning at the centaur coming up behind him, Remi gave his biggest puppy dog eyes at his glare. Aw, the poor boy seemed genuinely concerned by his theft. Well, if that didn't make him curious, Remi didn't know what would. But he'd probably forced enough stress on the centaur for now, so he thrust his butt out for Dusk to grab his papers from his back pocket. "Sorry, darling. But I know you too well."
Leaning forward, he beamed at the entrance of the new girl. Now this was his kind of gal. Shopping? Excellent. It was time for a trip. "Oh, do I ever. You have come to the right boy, Xylia. As soon as the rain's stopped, let's please head out. I am running painfully low on highlight."

Eyes widening at Remi's response, her smile brightened and she bit her lip in excitement. "Yes. Would you like to help me choose the decor too?" She asked, choosing to ignore the glares that were being shared around the room. "It's uh, been a while since i've gotten to decorate my own space and I fear I might be a little rusty." She finished with her accent coming out. The mentioning of her past in any way tended to bring out her thick, Russian accent, making it hard for people to understand her at times. "Also, i've never seen a centaur before. Is that the correct term? I don't want to offend you." She said quietly.

"No, Dusk Quinton, I got it from the Heart Realm. Or, more accurately, that one realm where I can see all your souls. It's great, really. Remi's soul is all red, Madi's is this pink-purple-blue thing, the cat... never mind. Xylia's is yellow. Yours is blue." Xe turned to Dusk. "Who's Mr Moon?"

Remi moved through to the shadow by Xylia and looped his arm into hers. He sat her in the seat he'd just vacated, within the group. He was quietly pleased with himself for getting everyone in the same room. "Absolutely! It's one of the best things about this place. We can do whatever we want to the rooms. Moonglade's pretty good about all that."
Xylia was sounding pretty Russian by the end of her speech, but she still spoke a damn sight more than the rest of them, so Remi made it a priority to understand her. She didn't seem too shaken by the sudden appearance of a centaur, so he guessed the newcomers had met Mr Moon. Although, Kardia didn't seem to need to have met someone to know about them.
Their next words confirmed that. So Kardia saw souls. He supressed a shiver, wondering what their souls looked like. A red soul? Seemed likely. Good colour. His scarf today was red.
"Mr Moon is our lord and saviour," Remi joked. He chomped into the apple he'd forgotten he'd taken from the fridge. "Haven't you guys met him yet?"

Madi bristled as much as her cat had when she heard exactly what kind of prying the new girl could do. She really had no idea whether prying into people's souls was worse than prying into their brains, and it was a question she knew she didn't want to answer right now. Even if her soul did happen to somehow be her favorite colors. So she got up from her chair with her cat in both hands, floated the bowl into the sink (only spilling a little splash of milk), and quietly made her way toward a quieter corner of the room. Admittedly, going shopping somewhere kind of did sound fun, but Remi and this new girl Xylia were both teenagers who wouldn't wanna drag a kid along with them, and she'd probably have a panic attack if she went out in public with people she barely knew. She already had a knot in her stomach just being in the same room as everyone.

"The kindergarten teachers said it was Jesus. Can religion make up its mind?" Kardia frowned, confused. "Oh, wait, I think..." Xe let xir body collapse, delving deeper into the Heart Realm.

Within the premises, anyone named Mr Moon or Moon or something like that? Yes. Caretaker, by the aura his heart gave off. Xe poked it, watching the soul squirm. Apparently his heart was also averse to being touched. Good to know.

Xe re-emerged, picking xemself up from the floor xir body had collapsed onto from lack of consciousness. "His heart is green," xe declared. "I like that green."
