...Religious leaders? Meetings?
Well, first, this was bringing back wall too many memories. Second, there had to be another place aside from this room, maybe for more private topics? After all, it was hard to believe that there wasn’t maybe a secret room in this dingy place.

Maple gave a weird look to Remy. How does sitting down help anything? Unless there was a button.
Instead, like Nathan, she circle around one of the chairs, to see if there was any thing strange.

❝ ... ❞ Dlanor was absolutely silent when it came to the discovery of a supposed meeting hall further down these ruins. This room felt like a ruse. A place where their investigation will be halted. Even if it were an apparent end, the inquisitor wanted to see if there was anything that would continue their investigation regardless. This couldn't be an empty room with nothing to offer. So far, every detail of these ruins held some value, or rather information to allow them to keep going.

"It does remind me of back home, but also something else..." Mikleo tilted his head, trying to think of what exactly he was thinking of, but Sorey already figured it out.

"Ah, you're right!" he exclaimed. "It is just like those other Ash ruins we explored!" He stepped on a stone platform like Schala and both sunk into the ground. Shrugging, Mikleo stepped on the third, causing the stone door before them to open.

"I wonder if..." Mikleo stepped off the platform, expecting it to close the door, but it stood open for half a minute before it reset. "I wouldn't call that much of a puzzle, would you?"

"Maybe it's not meant to be," Sorey said thoughtfully. "These ruins seemed built with the purpose of being inviting. Perhaps it was a place of worship? In any case, I think this was just implemented to ensure only groups of people could enter the inner sanctum."

"That sounds like a logical theory," Artorius said, "and would be supported by the idea that the walk to this door was originally not as treacherous as it is today. However, the earlier markings tell me there is something more to these ruins than that." Artorius then looked upward as he considered what Nathan suggested. "... We are far down enough that it may be too difficult to reveal the natural light. Besides, attacking the ceiling would only spell doom for all of us. For now, Seres' flames are all we'll be able to rely on."

The group could enter the next room from there, where after a small walk through a large hallway, they came to a large room. Across from the group were steps that led up to a large pedestal or stage where finely sculpted stone chairs had been erected.

"There doesn't seem to be any way to proceed," Mikleo said. "Fitting, for this was likely where individuals met with their religious leaders."

"Perhaps that is so," Artorius replied, "but there is no doubt in my mind that there is more beneath the surface. For the average man or woman, this was where their journey ended, but I am sure a select few were honored with something much more."

"Well, if we were supposed to stand on the platforms..." Remy walked up to the stage, trying to get a closer look at the chairs. "I wonder if sitting in one of these would do anything."

Nathan made a note in his notebook that read: Lamest temple puzzle ever, stand on platforms, little to no adventure behind it. 2/10, vines were cool, will revise if cooler stuff happens. "
Well, might as well," Nathan said, pausing before he sat. He decided to inspect the chair first for anything weird.

Sorey went ahead and did the inevitable by sitting down in one of the chairs, but nothing occurred. "Probably not that simple," he said with a laugh. However, the chair he sat on, the middle of the five chairs, had visible scuff marks behind it.

Schala eyed the platforms, finding it a little odd at first that there were three needed to open the doors in front of them... Rather than one, but perhaps there was a reason it was designed that way. Maybe it was the minimum amount of people who could gain entry at once?

Entering the room, she did see that it had likely been meant for a gathering with some religious leaders or what have you, but considering the nature of these ruins, she concurred with the thought that there may be something more to this room. Either hidden away, or eroded by time, she was convinced at least three in the room may have been subject to something 'special' each gathering.

Though, she was momentarily distracted when she noticed the scuff marks behind the chair Sorey had sat down on.

"Wait... Hang on a minute..." She murmured, tapping her chin thoughtfully.

Then, she grabbed the chair Sorey was sitting on, and slowly began to pull the chair backwards. Though she made sure to be slow, and deliberate about her motions; if anything that would risk Sorey, or anyone else's safety were to occur, she had to be able to undo this quickly...

While some of the others tried fiddling with the chairs in... alternative ways, Alisha pursed her lips and sat down on another chair, leaning back in it as she crossed her slender legs, fortunately flexible enough to even do so despite the stiff-looking armor she wore, moreso to rest for the moment than anything else.

"Mmm... It could be a number of anything, really. It could depend on how the chairs are positioned, if people are sitting in each chair... I wonder what it could be?" She inquired, before leaning to the side, taking note of the scuff marks, "Where did those come from?"

"Perhaps a little game of musical chairs is in order."
Liara quipped as she went to inspect the chairs. "The scuff marks caught my interest as well." She replied to Alisha. "Perhaps the chairs need to be aligned in a certain order for something to happen?"

Sorey jumped out of the chair when he realized the others were pulling it. With the chair aside, it seemed there was nothing notable about the ground beneath the chair. "Those are not the only marks," Mikleo said, pushing the chair on the right forward. Sorey took the initiative and found a third chair, pushing that one backward as indicated. With those in place, a section of the stone wall at the back of the room opened to reveal a small space about the size of a closet. Inside were trinkets and jewelry. It looked like a secret shrine, hidden away.

"This was not the secret I had in mind," Artorius said. He examined the back wall of the shrine, noticing another drawing, this one depicting an individual that glowed. They stood with some kind of artifact in their hand, but it was hard to determine if it was meant to look like anything distinct at all.

Sorey reached out to touch one of the trinkets, the one on a small stand that seemed the most important, but Mikleo grabbed his wrist. "Remember the last time you touched something without thinking?"

Sorey sighed. "You're right..."

@Lucky @Hahli Nuva @Ver @Jeremi @Takumi @Yun Lee @Gummi Bunnies @York @MelodyMeister

Remy would go ahead and pick up the artifact instead. "If this is a place of reverence, I doubt they'd booby trap their own artifacts," he said. "These were meant for the higher council, if these little puzzles and sitting rooms are anything to go by." Maybe a foolish move, but it seemed safe enough, considering how safe their trip so far had turned out to be. He decided to get a better look at the little item while he was holding onto it.

❝ To hide their prized artifacts in a complex manner but to display it with great dignity despite being hidden AWAY. That is... a specific CASE. ❞ Dlanor spoke as she analyzed the situation. Surely it was suspicious that the most attention-grabbing artifact was left for display in a hiding spot that most wouldn't find unless they knew about how to open it. Whether it was meant to be found and seen by others, it was something to consider. And why it was arranged in that manner, that was another case altogether.

Maple stared at the trinkets and treasure with mild surprise. If this was a shrine of sorts, then that was a whole lotta offerings, almost too much, she thought.

The woman took more interest in the drawing behind the shrine, which depicted the glowing individual. If she wanted gold, she can just kill some abusive noble.
“The theory I have, is that this is a uh..shrine to this person, with the artefact in hand. If that is so, they must be important. By that logic, we can assume they are powerful or have done something to receive such honour.”

It was this moment that Maple wished she had her camera. Seriously, it was meant to be a quick trip to that planet and back, but now, she was stuck here, devoid of her usual tourist stuff. Well, at least she had her translation and basic equipment for space travel.

“Actually...maybe they did ‘booby trap’ it, if that means that it’s a trap. It seems strange that there is so many jewellery, in one hidden position. I also know some of the individuals using shrines don’t like people taking offerings as such.”

"Maybe this was just for specific followers," Mikleo suggested. "It's interesting that they would first require a group to enter beforehand. I'm unsure yet if there was any specific reason for that..."

As far as could be guessed, the artifact in the drawing most resembled the one Remy had in hands. While it did nothing upon him touching it, he felt it emanate some kind of energy at the very least.

Well, if Remy could touch it without anything happening, Sorey figured he could as well. "Here, let me see it," he said, reaching out to grab the artifact. Much to his surprise, when he touched the item it started glowing brightly. Sorey pulled back quickly, though the glowing continued. The back wall of the shrine began to glow as well and after a few seconds, disappeared.

"Woah!" Sorey exclaimed. He put a hand through the open doorway, causing a blue light to appear on the wall beyond. The light was set into the walls of the small walkway and made a straight line down to wherever it ended. "That's it! This is the secret! We won't even need Seres to light the way now!"

"But why did it need Sorey--" Mikleo was cut off as his friend grabbed his hand and pulled him into the dark hallway. Artorius followed the pair, not commenting on the matter.

@Lucky @Hahli Nuva @Ver @Jeremi @Takumi @Yun Lee @Gummi Bunnies @York @MelodyMeister

...huh.

Clearly, there was more to Sorey than meets the eye. Was he connected to whatever it was these people worshipped? He had no idea. Now was probably the time to just follow behind and see what else awaited them. If this Sorey kid was the key to everything, it was best to follow his lead...even if he had the impulse control of a kindergardener.

Sorey made a bunch of excited noises just at the prospect of following the mystical blue light with Mikleo following dutifully behind him. Artorius seemed as stone-faced as usual, though something in his stride suggested that he too was finding excitement in these ruins. "Though it is now corrupted, these were likely once considered a holy temple," he said as they walked. "It is something to consider."

Eventually, the hallway opened up to another room, this one also lit by the pale blue lights embedded into the walls. They circled around the room, crossing to make complicated designs across the walls. They lit further drawings, showing men and women with an aura around them, lighting torches for others traveling behind them without any hint of an aura. Twin carvings of what appeared to be the sun were on the opposite wall of the entrance with a closed stone door between them.

"This has a way different vibe from the other parts of the temple!" Sorey exclaimed. He looked around, eventually seeing something on the ceiling. He pointed upward. "Look, chandeliers?"

"They're torches," Mikleo said. "The drawings this time seem very literal."

"Seres?" Artorius said, looking to the woman. She knew immediately what he wanted and conjured flames to appear around the unlit torches. However, nothing seemed to happen, indicating that either Mikleo was wrong, or there was more to lighting them.

Nathan continued to work on his sketches as he looked over at them. " Perhaps we should figure out the one that is closest to the picture as it might prove to be useful as the others might possibly be cursed," he replied, as he looked over and tried to find the object that most remembered the object in the drawing.

"There's definitely something more to this thing," Remy said. "I can feel it. Literally." He looked around the room for any type of place this trinket could go, or any possible secret passageway. "Is this all there is to this place? Just one little stash of baubles?"

Schala frowned, deciding to take one of the trinkets with her as well. Admittedly, she wasn't sure why these seemed strangely unguarded if they were meant for something special... But, it did kind of reind her of the pendand she still carried with her, perhaps they too were some kind of catalyst, considering how it reacted to Sorey... And what Remy said...

Dlanor's words only furthered her suspicions about these ruins, but for now... She decided to continue forwards with the others.

Following the others into the next room, though, she noticed that these drawings here are quite literal, as Mikleo mentioned. Evidently, the men and women in the painting were lighting torches, but just using fire magic didn't seem to do the trick. As much as Schala wanted to give it a shot herself, she decided against it; there must be another way... Right?

On a hunch, she quietly grasped the trinket she had taken from the previous room, closing her eyes as she concentrated, muttering ancient... Arcane phrases under her breath as she seemed to be attempting to invoke some kind of response within her trinket. This was how she managed to activate her pendant after all... Which once helped opened tears into the timestream, and eventually other dimensions, but that was a whole other thing in its own right.
