Peter’s web balls were effective at knocking down the hilichurls he aimed at, caching them in a bind and forcing them into immobility.

Peter’s web caught the heel of a hilichurl, knocking it over as he moved to trip over a large group of them, which he did successfully. The hilichurl Peter used to trip the others ended up crashing headfirst into a nearby tree and dying.

Nearby, Leila would find it easy to kill these beasts, as their combat skill was akin to an untrained soldier blindly rushing into battle.

By the time Leila had reached Peter, the horde he had just tripped had regained their senses, yet soon enough Nagoriyuki’s blade slaughtered some of those who Peter had tripped, while Ashe slaughtered some more with her electricity.

Azul waved his pen, a ball of fire enveloping those who still stood nearby the group. One came out and tried to attack Azul but it was quickly dispatched by Koyanskaya.

Out of the brush, many hilichurl berserkers with flaming clubs charged at Peter, Leila, Nagoriyuki, and Azul. In the meantime, those who were webbed up by Peter began to break free from their bindings.

The young girl was already prepared to ditch the charge attack altogether and use her railgun as a makeshift shield when she saw a few Hilichurls get close to her. Though, the combined efforts of Kiun, Sandalphon, and Bennett kept the aggro off of her, allowing her to keep charging her railgun for the "light magic attack."

❝ Ah, thanks guys! I'll be sure to give out commendations after this battle is over! ❞ Aris thanks the others before seeing that her railgun was all charged up. Aligning her futuristic weapon at a line of Hilichurls coming right her, she recited from memory, ❝ Treading the path of a bright future, prevailing against the evils of the world, this is the mark of a budding hero! ❞

The railgun's barrel was intensely letting out sparks of energy, her finger resting on the trigger. ❝ Prepare thineself! Balance... breakdown!!!

Pulling the trigger, Aris fired an energy beam from her railgun at the Hilichurls. Due to her essentially overloading her railgun, the beam might've had a bit too much range, probably causing some unnecessary collateral damage to the overall surroundings. The force of the railgun firing off that beam had Aris stumble backwards and falling on her behind, a bit dazed from her charged attack.

All in all, Koyanskaya figured that everyone else had this under control, and that she would just stick with the passive support role for now. Some others were already going all out, and some others were holding back for some reason. From quick observation, she could already tell that summoning her tamed beasts would be beyond overkill for these Hilichurls, meaning it would be a waste to tire her tamed beasts out on small fry.

So she made sure that the group was in-between her and the Hilichurl mob, and continued on taking sniper shots at the ones the group would somehow miss.

Normally, Spider-Man would do everything in his power not to end lives or cause their deaths. But, he saw how blindly the Hilichurl were charging towards them. Even if he would end up feeling guilty of playing a part in these creatures' deaths, he had others to think about; Those who were trapped on Mondstadt with him, and the native, innocent people of this world. The Web-Slinger had to save lives, even if it includes cutting down these creatures.

The sensation of his Spider-Sense buzzes, quickly turning to the seeing many berserker charging at him, Lelia, Nagoriyuki, and Azul. Shifting his hazel eyes which here hidden by his white lenses, Peter sees that there was a group he webbed up; now breaking free of their bindings.

"Such a homicidal bunch you are," he quips as he dives back from one of the brutes attempting to hit him with a burning club. Quickly blinding the creature with his webbing, Spider-Man delivers a hard right hook to the creature's masked face. The seasoned hero proceeds to jump towards another charging brute, delivering a swift dive kick to the top of the Hilichurl's head. With his strength and agility, he was delivering punches, kicks, and shooting webbing at those who got too close to the more vulnerable of the group.

"Can't use up all the Web-Fluid," he says to himself, performing a backflip to evade a swing from another brute's enflamed club. It was one of those rare moments that he gets to cut loose, as his usual foes are human beings who commit crimes, though he does fight the occasional murderous robots, aliens, and even a dinosaur or two.

"Hardy little fuckers, aren't you?" The Vigilant muttered under her breath.

Reacting quickly, Leila did a dodge-roll past the one with the flames that charged at her. She was glad the group she was with were competent fighters, unlike the Maye town guard. She flicked some blood off of her sword and her gambeson, She attempted to slash at the one wielding the flame that she had just rolled past. She hoped that the... fox with the fire arrows would give her some more cover fire.

A loud neigh was heard as a beast slammed through the trees, kicking up dust on the way. Behind a rock, a shadow could be seen - a shadow remniscent of a beast that some would recognize as a Qilin.

This shadowy majesty was short-lived, however, as the true identity of this beast was revealed - it was a little pony, three turtles on his flank, who quickly shook the branches and shrubbery accumulated off his body.

"Well, there's only one thing to do in a time like this."

The little pony took a great leap, jumping onto a tree and slamming it down to block a swarm of Hillchurls that were charging towards Kiun & Aris, some slammed underneath the uprooted logged and others tripping over.

"Everypony- I mean everycreature alright?"

Before he could get an answer, the grubby goblins began to pile upon him as he used his hind hooves to buck them away. He swung, using his strength to toss the Hillchurls away, before biting the hands of some with his teeth.

Walking along the path, X was completely silent as he took in Ashe's words.

"Your intel is greatly appreciated." He muttered so quietly that he wasn't even sure it reached anyone but himself. The thought of even more violence, and war, would have immediately brought up tears in him back in his B-Rank hunter days.

And he would never let himself become a tyrant of 'Neo Arcadia.' He would rather be decommissioned then to turn maverick! Dr Light had built him to do whatever he wanted, didn't he? What he wanted was a world where Reploids and Humans could be equal.

He supposed that's what happened at the end of the tunnel, and at least his dear friend was still around. But he never thought he would go against that hope in the end.

".....Axl?!"

X had faintly heard his comrade's words, and was confused for a moment if it was an auditory glitch, before he saw the device that had fallen out. He had questions that would never end. So he wasn't the dictator after all? Why was there a copy of him? What was this device that looked so much like Axl? But the sight of something familiar reassured him as much as it confused him.

His worries were cast away as he saw Ashe 'megamerge' and as the hirichurls approached to attack them. X recognised her form at once. He felt reassured, as if Axl was really fighting alongside him.

He watched in amazement as the adventurers, the humans fought. Or at least what X assumed were humans. They were so much more fragile then reploids, yet they had so many abilities that even X couldn't have. He dashed forwards in front of the mitachurl that had knocked the boy over, and now was aiming straight towards two others.

X stood defensively in front of the people that the mitachurl targeted, Cliff and Percy especially. Although he had a feeling the other robot could handle a violent charge, the others wouldn't

"Stay behind me! I won't let this thing hurt anymore people!"

Still, must they fight already before there was even negotiations?

He didn't know, but he still planted his legs onto the ground. His X buster charged up for a powerful charge shot at the mitachurl.

If it meant protecting those that had no chance against these creatures, such as that young woman with a switchblade, or even the strange looking horse, X wouldn't hesitate. If it came too close to him, X would release his charge shot, regardless of how much it had left to build.

Soma Cruz meekly listened to the conversation before him, particularly from the young boy who seemed to be quite familiar with his surroundings. Hearing that the word "Monstadt" refers to the group's destination, he took a mental sigh of relief decided to follow everyone from behind.

...

Unfortunately, their journey was put to a pause as several beasts decided to put a territorial act.

"Looks like I have no choice..." the lad pulled out a handgun from his pocket and began to position himself closer to the frontline of the group "Zombie Soldier, Bat, and Golem," he muttered as he near-effortlessly channeled the power of what is almost all the souls that remained from his previous endeavors to aid their strength. While almost everyone else appeared to showcase their powers, Soma Cruz spent most of the time taking the humbler approach of firing his gun at the hilichurls with the intent to cripple them while a bat appeared by his side to attack any of the humanoid beasts that attempted to approach him.

In the midst of combat, Soma noticed that several hilichurls that were trapped in Spider-Man's webs began to free themselves while everyone else appeared to be occupied with the rest. "FIRE IN THE HOLE!" he warned those under close-ranged combat as he took the liberty of using the Zombie Soldier's soul to pull off a grenade from thin air and lob it straight to where it would hit most of the trapped foes, hoping that this would at least severely injure them if not destroy them outright.

Whether or not this would be effective, he would immediately switch back to firing with his pistol with close-ranged assistance from the temporary familiar that fluttered within his vicinity.

If it wasn't one thing it was another. Bashir looked on as the weird creatures started to swarm them. "I suppose we can't talk this over?" He replied with a nervous chuckle. Seeing that they didn't seem to want to cooperate made Bashir take a few steps back. "Evidently not."

As the Hilichurl's attacked Bashir started to feel over his body and see if he still had something to use as a weapon. Sadly he did not. While he might have been able to take one of the smaller ones in hand to hand combat, he didn't feel keen to spill the secret of his augmented body and instead decided to stay back and be moral support, as well as look over anyone who might get hurt.

A world to be too joyful. Nagoriyuki would curse himself for saying such a thing aloud, but hearing someone else say it made the truth sting less. As the band of strangers marched on, a foul smell wafted on the wind, making his nose crinkle at the stench. His disgust was only momentary, as Nagoriyuki turned in the direction of the now-approaching beasts and slipped his hand over the length of his blade's hilt. He thumbed a trigger mechanism, releasing the sheathes lock with a quiet mechanical pop.

"Accursed beasts."

guilty-gear-guilty-gear-strive.gif

The hairband keeping the samurai's dark dreadlocks bound stirred. Bright, ivory plates of metal slid over Nagoriyuki's face, shifting and turning with a series of mechanical clicks and whirrs, interlocking and fusing, forming cracks in the pale white exterior of the steel mask that formed over him. Pale metal horns rose from the top of the helm and a set of steely teeth clasped tight over his jaw, gnarled into a permanent, monstrous grin.

The mask hummed with energy as it locked at last, the cracks sealed with a dim orange glow, sealed with the hiss of rising steam. And marked on his face was a symbol, smeared in blood-red paint - the kanji for HEART.

"Let us begin," a booming, mechanical voice declared from behind the mask, before Nagoriyuki lowered his stance. "Fukyo."

Then, he vanished. A snow-white blur rushed past the party, the force of the wind nearly knocking them off their feet, as Nagoriyuki suddenly materialized beside one of the charging Hilichurls. With no words spared, he flexed his arm, and a loud, steely hum resounded throughout the field, and the sound of flesh severing from bone. Nagoriyuki stood now behind the beast, his odachi raised high in the air and stained in dripping crimson, from the beast whose left half slid from the right, keeling over into two piles of motionless meat.

The masked samurai turned, advancing on a pair of crossbow-wielding Hilichurls that had just witnessed their comrade be sliced in half by butter, now being slowly approached by his killer. Nagoriyuki held the blade up at an angle, touching his finger to the warm, wet red spots dripping off the point. His finger ran along the pool, drawing up a portion of the blood. What blood he didn't touch began to move along the blade on its own, sinking into the metal as it glowed a baleful crimson light.

"Hmm," he hummed and the jaw of his mask hung open, revealing his mouth beneath. Nagoriyuki dipped his finger past his lips, giving it a restrained lick. He coughed, the taste forcing a grumble out of him. "Disgusting."

A crossbow bolt soared towards his head, and another for his chest. Nagoriyuki's hand flew to join his other on the blade's hilt, slashing the air in a circular arc. Shattered halves of bolts deflecting off the side of the blade, and with the two Hilichurls frantically moving to reload, Nagoriyuki let out a quiet hiss. Again, he vanished, re-appearing beside the left Hilichurl. The beast let out a startled gasp before the upper half of a seven-foot blade was thrust through its gullet, Nagoriyuki hurling the bloodied corpse behind himself as he tore his blade free of it.

A second crossbow bolt soared over his head as the samurai ducked into a low stance and tumbled forward, slicing into a pair of cloven ankles with the spinning motion of his blade's tip, sending the beast toppling over before Nagoriyuki rose and dispatched it with a one-handed slash at the ground, mercifully severing its blacked, horned head from its body.

"..."

Nagoriyuki raised a hand, wiping the black blood off his mask, and lowering it, staring at it and the corpse that lay at his feet. He grunted, and silently stepped on the body, digging it into the ground as he moved to advance on the remaining hilichurls, intent on leaving the largest beast to the others who seemed intent on mobbing it.

Percy Jackson

Seemed like his sword didn't exactly have the effect he was hoping for. Maybe it was because there was no Tartarus here for these monsters to return to?

He couldn't dwell on that, since the Minotaur rip-off was charging right at him and that metal-guy from earlier. Gripping his sword tighter, he was about to doge, when another robot who looked way more realistic came in, charging a shot right at the charging "Minotaur" It didn't seem like he would have enough time to fully charge it....

And tiger-boy to the rescue! Percy couldn't help with wince as he watched him get swatted aside. Now, the robot fired his shot. And somebody else seemed to have done something, since more energy came blasting at the "Minotaur", who died. The fight wasn't over yet though, there were still more of the goblin-y guys left!

Charging right at the closest bunch, Percy began to slash with sword rapidly.

Sandalphon's power made Kiun wonder if the man was some form of god, though his curiosity would have to be addressed later, as the large number of enemies didn't let up. He couldn't help but muse how Takemikazuchi would of been glad to have fought such beasts, even if it wouldn't have been much of a challenge as the Yato god, it'd have been something to temporarily ease the war god's occasional want of battle and bloodshed.

Taken out of his musings as someone else came to their aid and dispatched a few of the Hilichurls, Kiun's focus was once again on the battle at hand.

"No one is seriously harmed so far." Kiun answered the...Pony. It wasn't the oddest thing he's seen, since many gods and shinki alike could take on animal forms or features.

Hoping to help Aris back to her feet, he took notice of Bennett's attack and how it seemed to have a draw back against the boy.

Any Hilichurls that would try and charge at Bennett while he was thrown back by his own attack would be met with a Borderline between them and the boy, quickly followed by a lance attack that would break the borderline like a wall of glass and attempt to cut down the Hilichurls on the other side of it in the process.

The former warrior would help Bennett up once he landed, looking him over momentarily for any serious injuries as he kept his hand at the ready to throw more lances at their enemies.

"You're right, there is no time to rest," He replied, before adding, "but be a bit more careful, or you'll leave yourself vulnerable to the enemy."

They seemed to be after Aris and Bennett as they were left with drawbacks to their attacks, so Kiun would be both their shield and blade to make up for any shortcomings.

"Guh!"

Atsushi hit the ground landing on his back before rolling into a low crouch as he skidded to a halt. Seeing as the Mitachurl was defeated, that only left the Hilichurls for them to take care of.

Seeing as the others who engaged the Mitachurl were unharmed as far as he could tell, he quickly began to attack any that Percy may miss, slashing with his claws or delivering punches and kicks with a few that may have been strong enough to break a normal human's spine.

As Garak caught his attention, Nagoriyuki stood like a bloodstained pillar surrounded by dark-furred, bleeding corpses. He tore his bleed free from the chest of another Hilichurl that had charged his way among the chaos, twirling the massive sliver of steel towards the pit of his elbow and pulled it through, wiping the bloodied blade clean on his white sleeve. Obscured by his mask, his head turned to look over his shoulder, smelling the alien before he heard him speak.

That much was clear to Nagoriyuki before Garak even spoke - he was not human. The scent of the blood rushing through those veins was unfamiliar, just as the blood of the beasts that lay at their feet. Had this not have been a different reality, Nagoriyuki might have had a more visceral reaction, but instead, he turned his head away, speaking as he plodded towards the pack of approaching Hilichurl berserkers.

Nagoriyuki lifted his head to one of the berserkers as it lunged for him, heaving a flaming axe towards his chest with a guttural, furious howl. Nagoriyuki was economical in his movements, barely shifting his position as his hands quickly joined each other at the hilt of his sword. With each twitch of the Hilichurl's muscles to indicate another swing, Nagoriyuki moved in response, slashing upwards and downwards to meet the axe's head in the air. Loud, ringing clangs resound through the air. The samurai parried one strike after the other, each clang forcing another step back from the Hilichurl, giving inches of ground to Nagoriyuki's advance.

The hilichurl stumbled, and Nagoriyuki lunged at the moment of weakness, moving a hand to the flat bottom end of the sword hilt. He turned, conveniently facing Garak as he lifted his blade and pushed his palm against the bottom, thrusting behind himself with surgical precision, impaling the beast through the chest. It gurgled and wheezed, dying only as Nagoriyuki severed into two meaty halves with the force of him tearing his blade free.

Quickly pressing the trigger of his web-shooter like a gunman with a swift trigger finger, Peter webs up some more Hilichurls; stopping their mobility for the others to dispatch them swiftly. Feeling his Spider-Sense tingle again, the Wall-Crawler crouches down and trips an oncoming brute off of his feet by kicking its ankle. "Fuck! Shit! Bitch!"

The way Cliff's plan hadn't gone has intended, with his gambit ending up hurting one of the others in the group instead, and causing him to land facefirst into the ground, mentally winded him for a hot minute, and by the time he managed to catch wind again, the large beast had been promptly dealt with by the others. Well, strength in numbers at least. He totally contributed to that.

"I mean, good job, team! We all contributed an equal amount!" Cliff exclaimed, before getting to work on weeding out the remaining beasts, grabbing two of them with his hands and smashing their heads together, before throwing their listless bodies at a few others as well.

Eventually, he made his way next to Atsushi, giving an awkward wave with one hand as he swung his hammer of a fist into another beast, figuring he owed the weretiger an apology for his mishap.

"Hey buddy! Are you fucking sorry?!" He said by complete accident, tripping over his own words as his mind wanted to simultaneously say "are you okay?" and "I'm so fucking sorry" at the same time.

"I meant to say, I'm so fucking okay!"

GODDAMMIT. That wasn't it either.

Cilff balled up his fists in frustration, inadvertently slamming one into the face of a Hilichurl rolling up behind him, before yelling again in a tone much louder than intended, amplified by his self-frustration. "ARE YOU OKAY OR NOT?"

"Let's keep it that way!" the pony exclaims as he rolled a Hilichurl up into a bowling ball and slammed it into some of its comrades in the distance, knocking them down like pins.

"I think the leader's gone. That must mean the little guys are dashing off right about now!"

Following this, the pony raised his two front hooves majestically as he prepared to trample those who were incoming.

"Fuck! Shit!

Having punched another Hilichurl in the face that had approached, followed by another being thrown over his shoulder into one of it's brethren, the weretiger turned his head as Cliff waved to him.

"Wh-" He started, confused as Cliff started speaking to him as he approached and helped out with dealing with some of Hilichurls. The more he spoke the more confused he got.

Cliff's frustration and how loud he was at least gave an Atsushi a bit of an idea of what he might have been trying to say at least.

"Oh! I'm fine, don't worry!" He spoke almost sheepishly as his arms flailed about in front of him, before one shot out to his side to grab a charging Hilichurl by the head with a paw and toss it into another with great force.

"Getting hit like that hurt but it's not the worst thing to happen." He added as another Hilichurl was stopped mid charge with a punch to the chest with enough force to send it flying back.

"Is there no end to these things?" He muttered to himself. They had to stop at some point right? Even with numbers on their side, the cretures weren't holding up too well at this point.

"The leaders gone so shouldn't they stop since they're losing pretty bad." He grunted as he thought aloud.

Soma Cruz, being a bit too focused on shooting down any of the remaining hostile hilichurls with nonlethal shots, was unable to notice any accidental casualties that may have occurred from the explosion of the grenade. In fact, he doubted that he even killed anything with the lobbed explosive.

"How many of these are still around? I think the others already killed their leader!" he thought to himself as he unsummoned the bat to conserve his mana. After a few more shots, he retreated a bit and looked around to see if there are any signs of previously unseen opposition, as well as any stray souls from the monsters that might end up becoming forcefully integrated by his Power of Domination, wondering if he ended up actually killing something.

GREATEST, MOST KINDEST OVERLORD

A grandfather's clock chime rang as Sougo finally bursted into action, performing a flying kick coated in pink energy towards a group of Hilichurls that Aris and Bennett were dealing with. If the kick landed to at least one of them, then that Hilichurl would be flung away with great force.

Ashe, aiming her busters at the few that were approaching her. One of them attempted to strike at her, but Ashe managed to turn things around with a quick strafe and a bash to the head before continuing her barrage at the Hilichurls.

Mask on.

Few noticed Anna. Good. She had to carry less weight in this confrontation. Bullets were expensive and worth their weight in gold in the Metro. Perhaps also in this land. Amidst grove and glen these bestial humanoids emerge. Hilichurls. Mutants as far as the sniper was concerned. Pity and weak creatures with only a modicum of intelligence to wield primitive tools. Punier than the formidable Watchers of the Metro and not as intelligent as some Red Line commissar. Ideally? Little threat.

Skulking upon the tall grass of surrounding flora Anna attempted to get any degree of elevation surrounding the main frontline, the Spartan Stalker took her position to overlook the scene. Leveling her Preved rifle, a bolt-action sniper derived from the essential frame of a Mosin-Nagant, against her shoulder Anna crouched low. Eyes concealed behind her gas mask sniper narrowed through the scope. The characters before her played out their story.

A noble samurai proves himself with the craft of murder and mercy -- a silent laudation for the swordsman fostering in Anna. A Spartan, not in insignia nor oath, but in conviction and self-respect. A traveler of the cosmos certifies the de jure clause of violence. Strange features of a concerningly mutated design, but for the sniper, such mutations were not uncommon. A comical man in spandex flew himself about. One of those American superheroes Anna remembered seeing him as a child. She may have even held to a toy of his mockery as the world was consumed by hellfire. She was only four. It was a difficult memory to recall in all manners and aspects.

The bolt of her rifle rocked, delicate yet hitching, cleaned but never perfect.

Patiently Anna watched the battlefield. Panicked were her associates below, at least, some of them. Fight long enough and you grow increasingly numb to such concerns. With a sharp inhale of her breath, anyone observing Anna from a certain view could see the glare of her scope from afar. A deafening crackle echoed -- sonorous and terrible, A flash of combustion and fire. A bullet would cut faster than any sword and louder than any roar.

The skull of a Hilichurl would erupt cleanly. Who did Anna shoot with her precious bullet? A surrogate leader -- anyone she could identify amidst the Ground Fight that assumed a role of leadership even after the passing the behemoth brute. If not that? Any target that she could identify that would demoralize these brutes. Even the most basic, grueling of monsters adhered to some social structure. Break the head and the body weeps.

The bolt of her Preved rose up, and as it pulled back, Anna caught the spent casing of her rifle round with gloved hands. Hot as hell but gloves helped. It would fetch a good price later -- or, if needed, the survivalist would do her best to press more bullets. As if on instinct, a radio comm would leave Anna...despite none of her Spartans being online. For those that held any radio communication, portable or inherent, the voice of Anna would coldly but firmly affirm.

"Hit."

A gunshot rang out, making him crouch down while delivering an uppercut to a charging Hilichurl; sending it flying to its fellow monsters. Peter lifts his head up to see that it appeared to be that the leader, as they assumed there is one, had its head splatter like a gory watermelon. Though these creatures were attacking them, seeing such a gruesome end always made the seasoned hero grimace underneath the mask. Though, that made him curious as well.

"Not gonna complain," Spider-Man spoke as his senses alerted him of a Hilichurl attempting to club him from behind, driving his right elbow into the creature's stomach. Turning around, he drives a left hook right for his would-be attacker's face; knocking it off of its feet. "though, who made the shot?"

The Web-Slinger pushes that question to the back of his mind, as he needed to focus on helping out his allies. He jumped out of the way of another Hilichurl, delivering a rising kick to the strange humanoid's jaw.

"Hah...hah...thank you, but I'm afraid we're not done yet!"

The crystal within his arm cannon was white hot, and X felt his circuits within his arm whirl in protest to the sudden half-discharged charge shot. He was used to it, but rushing into battles without warning or warming up still was a bad idea. Still, he gave a thumbs up on his free hand to the other robot.

To think such a monster could evaporate into nothing.....and like mavericks, they never stopped appearing. More and more violence, X wondered if it would ever come to an end. He turned around, buster rearmed, but only shooting lighter shots this time around which allowed him to move.

"Evil doesn't need a leader." He remarked as he sighed. He blasted another shot straight at a charging hirichurl. "Still, while that wasn't the worst that could've happen, you're still made of flesh so be careful!"

Calling these monsters 'evil' was a stretch, at best. X didn't even believe most of the mavericks he decommissioned, deluded by a virus, were evil. But at the same time, he wouldn't stand for Atsushi or anyone else getting hurt. If that young man had gotten anymore injured, X would have pulled him out of the battle, regardless of how much the human wanted to or not.

In the distance, he saw a boy flung back from an self-created explosion. X winced, and was tempted to help but he focused instead on blasting away the hirichurls here. Safely. No self-detonation needed. He wasn't like a particular someone in the past.
