The creature was frozen and pushed toward the chamber with ease. Stamets slammed the door shut on it, wincing as it smashed against the glass. "You'll need to let me take a look at that stone of yours," he said, rushing over to his console. "I will begin an examination. The rest of you block the door."

Thumping began to echo from behind the exit door. More creatures had come, and by the sound of it, there were a lot of them. "They are breaking right through the door," Stamets said through gritted teeth.

The creatures swarmed in groups, weaving between the fighters in order to determine who among them was the weakest. A group singled out Nathan, still on the ground, and began to converge on him. Another group took Sarge's bait and went for him, leaping over shuttles and crates to get to him.

Starscream and Viktor managed to clear out the majority of the entrance, giving the Security Personnel and Burnham access to the hangar bay while also allowing an escape route for the former prisoners. However, escape would not be so simple. "How can this be happening?" Burnham said, getting a new message over the comms. She looked around at the men and women surrounding her. Just then, one of the creatures in the center of the crowd surrounding Nathan suddenly exploded in a violent shower of glorious red mist and viscera spilling the surrounding horde. The mangled lump of red meat slumped to the ground, twisting chainsaw blades gnawing away at it's rotting giblets. The surrounding horde collapsed as they were shoved over by some great force, and as they scrambled to lurch forward and attack the sudden assailant, they would bare witness to. . .

The towering space marine immediately turned into a flurry of gore and twisting blades, charging through the horde that swarmed Nathan from behind and barreling over the abominable aliens like a massive bulldozer of bio-engineered hatred. The feeble aliens quickly fell to Titus' powerful, yet elegant slashes, as he cleaved through rotting flesh like butter and smashed his gauntlet into the pulsating parasites that sat atop their heads, forcefully tearing them off and throwing them onto the floor, only to crush them brutally beneath his power-boot. What once resembled a horde of zombie-like creatures began a vague cloud of red mist, lumps of meat flinging out from it's center and splattering against the wall in a beautiful display of the space marine's horrific strength.

Titus emerged from the red cloud, his face and armor caked in crimson splatter and giblets. Hurling on zombie into another, he turned to Elliot and nodded. "Very well. . ." Titus gripped his helmet from his belt buckle, putting it on. It's visor glowed red as he turned towards the entrance.

"I WILL RETRIEVE THE AMBASSADOR. STAVE THE HORDE."

The captain turned to the entrance after clearing a path of his own, charging forward with his chainsword clutched in his righteous gauntlet. He had a feeling where the ambassador may be, but there was an entire clutch of xenos between him and his objective. A fury that can only be equated to the burning of a thousand dying stars fueled the ancient warrior, driving him through each and every body, each exploding in a shower of gibs as he passed.

It was going to take something much, much bigger to stagger a space marine. He made his way to where he may find the man.

“Yeah, that’s it, ya undead bastards! Come get some!” Sarge exclaimed as he continued shooting, punching, and kicking the zombies that came near him. Due to their rather frail physiques, it wasn’t too hard for Sarge to take them out, especially with his military experience.

Though, as Sarge continued taking out his undead foes, he took notice of Nathan being surrounded by a multitude of zombies. Knowing that a kid like that couldn’t defend himself from an entire hoard of zombies, Sarge fought through the zombies to get to him, brutally killing any zombie that stood in his way. Thanks to Titus, the trip was easier, though still a challenge.

Once he eventually reached Nathan, Sarge fought off the remaining zombies around them before pulling him up to his feet.

“Dammit, son! This ain’t no place to die! Now put that gun of yours to good use and start shootin’ these sons’a bitches!” Sarge shouted as he did exactly that.

Meanwhile, as Burnham and her crew made their way in, Grif turned to them and waved his arms up in the air frantically, the cone still in his hand as he did so.

“Hey, Blue Lady! Can I have my weapons back?! Or any weapon that’s not this stupid cone?!”

Zero Two looked up from her brief moment. The ship was under attack. Her Darlings, her allies. No, these weren't Conrad Class Klaxosaurs. These were something else entirely. Something not quite human. A mockery of humanity. Zero Two reacted. Her eyes flashed green by reflecting the light in the room, and in anger, she lashed out towards the monster as it slashed towards Gakupo. She ran up to give it a large kick towards observation.

"I won't let it hurt you, Darling." She said in a slightly strained happy tone.

Emily managed a kind smile towards Gakupo before she turned to the door again realizing it was too late to head back to the hangar. Eventually, when Stammets mentioned looking at the stone, she just sighed and nodded a little towards him. Although she was hesitant about doing this in the heat of an imminent attack... And though she stuck with Stamets for the time being, she was getting more and more fidgety by the second due to the creatures just about busting through the door.

"I think I can hold them off. Are you able to do your work while I'm using my stone?" She asked Stammets.

It looks like Emily wanted to help defend the doors at the very least, but on the other hand... She wasn't going to risk botching the whole reason they were staying here if using her stone posed a problem.

Starscream, still in his jet mode,
maneuveured through the entrance, briefly tucking his wings in should they prove too wide. Out of the zombie zone and into freedom!

Of course, Starscream fired his blasters upon any blocking zombies that continued to flood through.

"Titus has this handled," Starscream responds to Elliot, his optics briefly shifting to the boy with a squint, "I will join the forces outside the hangar in dealing with the parasites."

Starscream continues to fire with his blasters from the outside, transforming back to his robot mode while doing so, standing behind Burnham.

"Interesting," Stamets said. He poured over the info for a moment, before sighing to himself. "Sounds like you all lead such exciting lives," he then muttered.

"The ambassador will likely have much bigger worries than filing a complaint," Burnham said to Tilly, ultimately unsure what Sarek would think of all this. Starfleet had approved this last use of the spore drive, in any case.

Stamets cleared his throat. "Vibrational wavelengths is a new concept recently theorized by us aboard the Discovery ever since the concept of alternate universes became an observable and researchable viability. This is a concept similar to that of the unique quantum signatures we have observed, but applying it to the concept of there being multiple prime universes. Essentially, as you all do have unique signatures as far as we can gather, it corroborates both our theories and your claims to be from separate dimensions. There are far, far more tests to do, but..." Stamets looked down at his monitor and furrowed his brow. He seemed to be considering something. "Perhaps you might be in a better position to understand our questioning if you knew somewhat of the technology we use."

Stamets pressed a few buttons and expanded a holographic display for the group to see. It appeared as a massive series of tunnels, or a very complicated web. "The mycelial network is made up of the mycelium of a microscopic fungus. The network expands the known universe and our unique spore drive allows our ship to travel along this network instantaneously. It's been known to allow us to cross into dimensions that also contain the mycelial network."

"Could the mycelial network exist not just in the quantum universes we know of, but every possible universe across all of reality?" Burnham asked.

Stamets shrugged. "Possibly. It certainly exists in all the offshoots of our prime universe, but I am unsure if it goes beyond that. However, if you're suggesting we are in some dark corner of the mycelial network, I would have to say it's unlikely. In whatever space-time continuum we find ourselves in, there is no observable mycelial network. We are, essentially, off the rails. My only suggestion would be to try and reverse our jump using the logged coordinates."

Stamets sighed once again, running a hand through his hair. He pursed his lips and observed the network display with curious eyes. "It eludes me how we were able to reach out and bring you to our ship. So far, there seems to be little that connects you in any meaningful way. Even more curious is that fact that we only appeared to bring in various sapient beings, whether they be synthetic or organic. One would think it miraculous we did not bring in some kind of dangerous matter on to the ship--"

"Hold on," Burnham said, hearing something over the comms. She held out a hand for Stamets to pause and listened intently.

"New scans are indicating something odd aboard the ship," said the helmsman. "Multiple entities, moving about inside the walls. Our Security Officer has been informed."

Burnham's eyes went wide. "We may have a dilemma," she said.

Elliot had skulked off from the group, choosing not to participate in the proposed game. All he had said was that he didn't get the point of it before not opening his mouth again, possibly to the relief of others. He had been staring daggers at the cards for the next while, in full view to catch something rather odd.

"What--?!"

Something slammed into one of the guards, knocking him to the ground. The next was assaulted by some kind of creature that latched on to his head and sent him careening out of view of those in the hangar bay. "What the hell is going on now?" Elliot asked, taking a few cautious steps toward the force field. "I can't see what is happening to those guards!"

"It's entirely possible they are safer than we are," Burnham said quickly, turning around to stride quickly to the door. She stopped when something thumped against the door out into the hall of the ship. "Whatever that is, it's being detected as a threat and so the door won't open for it."

She turned to look at the others. "I will be okay, but I think it best all of you stay confined to this room."

@Ver @Yun Lee @York @Minerva @Josh @Engineering

"If we could have deactivated the force field, we would have done it by now," Elliot said, though not entirely annoyed. He watched carefully with the others for a sign of the guards. One guard could only be seen from his knees down. It was he who started to get up, but he crawled backward for a moment, obscuring him from view entirely.

There was a strange noise that could not entirely be identified, and then--

mupxxAL.png

A creature ran forward into view and slammed up against the force field. It looked like the body of the guard, but his head had been replaced with some kind of amorphous creature. Blood drenched his neck, down to the cavity of his chest which had been cut open. His hands had morphed into claws that banged and scratched at the shield to no avail.

"This... foul creature does not look strong enough to do what we could not accomplish," said Elliot, eyeing the new threat with curiosity.

"Your guess is as good as mine," Burnham said, reaching down to pull out her weapon. She held it in one hand and walked over to the door to hold her other hand over the manual override. With long exhale out, Burnham nodded and pressed her palm against the button, opening the door.

Almost immediately, a creature leaped into the room from the hall, focused on Burnham.

ighhR40.png

She fired instinctively and hit it in the air, causing it to drop straight down to the ground, writhing as if shocked.

"Get that thing contained!" Stamets yelled, looking around the room for something appropriate. Burnham quickly closed the door again so that they could deal with this one creature first.

"Officer Burnham?" she heard over her comm.

"Yes?"

"The threats, whatever they are, are inside the ship, wreaking havoc on our systems. The shield is about to go down. The guards at the hangar bay aren't responding!"

Shocked, Burnham looked to their guests. "Your friends might be in danger after all," she said. "Hurry, come with me if you want, or stay here and help this situation!"

@Ver @Yun Lee @York @Minerva @Josh @Engineering

Soon, the creature was joined by the second guard... and then a third. Then a fourth and a fifth. The creatures banged at the shield, unable to get through.

... At least, until the shield mysteriously went down. Elliot went wide-eyed and his hands flashed white. "They let down the shield... Our captors seek to murder us all!"

The zombie guards began to pour inside, followed by other creatures, these being solely the things controlling the dead guards.

The interior corridors of the ship were tinted blue, fresh and conditioned air contrasting against the tense and uneasy atmosphere, given the invading creatures on board the Discovery.

An electronic screen on the wall happened to have a map of the lower part of the ship on display, and even so far as conveniently labeling the room where the supposed Ambassador was located (just one floor up), as well as the group's current position and the other rooms all around. With no time to spare, the only sensible thing to do was to make haste, especially since it appeared as though full power had yet to return to the ship, rendering the turbolifts inoperable if anyone would think to use them, and the stairs were just down the hall.

The corridor itself was surprisingly quiet for the most part, unsettlingly so, making for an initially hazardless venture. By the time you all had reached the stairs, a piercing scream could be heard from the floor above, presumably from one of the ship's crew, followed by a grotesque growling sound, and upon making your way to the next floor up, it was then that every possible obstacle littered the hall.

Blood spilled all over the ground, and the few corpses that did lay on the ground were not left at peace for long, as many of the strange monsters from before would attach itself to their heads and re-animate them, forcing them to stand back up.

However, a decent number of them also took notice of the group that appeared before them, making strange hissing sounds that got the attention of some more, all the while the door was eventually pried open with the sheer brute force of one of the monsters before they began to lumber inside. Time was quickly slipping away.

Nathan woke up in a panic, after being yelled at dropped, almost eaten and saved by Sarge.

"WHAT THE FUCK IS HAPPENING!?" Nathan screamed, scrambling around trying to find where his gun and jacket were. He soon found his gun and started shooting at the creatures with his handgun. He couldn't even fucking sleep without shit going down.

He walked to Sarge and Quill's side, gun in hand.

Captain Titus held a balled fist into the air, ordering the squad to halt in place as they arrived at the site of the infection. Titus already had a suspicion that the bulbous creatures gnawing at the heads of the shambling corpses were the source of the infestation - abominable xenos that were nothing out of ordinary for the veteran space marine. Glancing back at Gumi and Kirby with his menacing helmet, Titus commanded, "STAY BEHIND ME. I WILL SHIELD YOU."

That said, Titus swiftly sheathed his chainsword on his belt and grasped at the massive rifle that he'd been lugging around beforehand - the 'bolter', as he called it. Leveling it towards the horde, Titus slowly approached and squeezed the trigger upon catching the attention of the first creature.

BOOMBOOMBOOMBOOMBOOMBOOMBOOM

Ev9JOLR.gif

The holy bolter roared to life with a percussive blasting noise as Titus unloaded the sanctified weapon upon the hordes. This gun was like no other - it was a blocky mass of industry and cruel techology, firing off .75 caliber 'bolts' that slammed into the zombies at full force and suddenly detonated upon impact, as if they were miniaturized rocket-propelled grenades. The feeble zombies would be left to literally explode into a shower of meaty pieces upon being slammed by the constant fire of the weapon, whether because of the sheer size of the bullets or the following explosion that they caused.

Nevertheless, Titus lurched forward like a one-man tank, mowing down the creatures as they came and occasionally stopping to smash another blocky clip into the bolter. If any of the abominations surfed the wave of meat and got in close range, Titus would gladly smash the butt of the weapon into their skulls, causing them to also explode.

Nathan abruptly moved his arm, trying not to accidentally shoot Meiji.

He frowned at the nasty creatures, shooting at them, trying to blink away the tiredness in his eyes.

When the Headcrabs attacked Vader immediately sprung into action.

FWAAAASH

Any zombie that attacked was quickly cut down by his lightsaber and the smaller headcrabs were crushed by the power of the Force. This wasn't a fight, not really. This was just pest control. While they had numbers Vader didn't consider himself to be in any mediate danger. Clean cuts, it was clear that the monsters were controlling the bodies. Bits and pieces flew as Vader swung his crimson lightsaber felling any Headcrab foolish enough to come near him.

"Ambassador Sarek is in danger, but we don't have the men to spare!"

Elliot stared at her, his lips pursed. He knocked some of the creatures away before turning round to the others. He had a smirk on his face that Burnham and the other crew members couldn't see. "We should help!" he yelled, perhaps surprisingly. "Some of us should help save this ambassador!"

Yes, some of them should. Vader didn't utter a word when he followed after the group out to rescue the ambassador. A good deed like this would potentially give the group some leniency on the matter of traversing the ship with out any problems.

"Your self sacrifice is wasted on these worthless creatures." Vader replied using the Force to push them into the bullets of the Space Marine. "Anyone who falls to these creatures have no one to blame but themselves."

As the headcrabs attack Meceliss and Mizelia, they were sliced and telekinetically pushed away. Mizelia looks for a moment towards Vader, who didn't seem to be in danger. He seemed to do just fine on his own. While Meceliss had her lightsaber ignited, Mizelia had not. Believing it wasn't needed yet. Relying on the Force to keep them away from her as well as leaving the killing for the rest while she tried to keep them alive through the Force should they receive injuries.

What once resembled a horde of zombie-like creatures began a vague cloud of red mist, lumps of meat flinging out from its center and splattering against the wall in a beautiful display of the space marine's horrific strength.

A fury that can only be equated to the burning of a thousand dying stars fueled the ancient warrior, driving him through each and everybody, each exploding in a shower of gibs as he passed.

It was going to take something much, much bigger to stagger a space marine. He made his way to where he may find the man.

"I will come along." Meceliss said before looking towards Mizelia. "Let's go, they may need a medic over there." she said and Mizelia nods before following.

The zombie-like monsters littered the hall, having infected security and science staff alike, it appeared. Many of them were gathered in front of one door, most likely the Ambassador's quarters, viciously clawing and bludgeoning the door in hopes of breaking through and making their way inside. However, a decent number of them also took notice of the group that appeared before them, making strange hissing sounds that got the attention of some more, all the while the door was eventually pried open with the sheer brute force of one of the monsters before they began to lumber inside. Time was quickly slipping away.

With a feral growl, the zombies began charging toward you all, swinging their mutated claws with the intent of mutilating the targets!
Both Jedi had at this point their lightsabers ignited, though Mizelia seems to be taking a more supportive role in all of this.

"Your self-sacrifice is wasted on these worthless creatures." Vader replied using the Force to push them into the bullets of the Space Marine. "Anyone who falls to these creatures has no one to blame but themselves."
"I have the feeling he's more protecting us from his slugs than the enemy." Meceliss stated towards Vader before telekinetically trying to 'grab' zombies here and there for the Ultramarine to shoot. Mizelia observed the group through the Force to make sure they were going to make it as well as keeping an eye on the rear. Yet, she also seems to be interested in the interior of the ship.

Vert however was lucky enough to be at a spot in the Hanger where they seemed to not attack her for some reason... Regardless, she saw that the ship was under attack by some kind of parasite, converting the guards into disgusting, mindless zombies. Chuckling a little bit, she composed herself.

View attachment 2632

"This reminds me all too familiar with a parasite in one of my console's video games. Regardless. If we are to get ourselves into the good books of our friends that control this ship, we need to start exterminating the parasite. Access!" Vert engulfed herself in a bright light once more and activated HDD, changing her appearance and voice tone dramatically.

"I shall move with the rescue team, provide them with some assistance. I trust everyone else in the Hanger are able to keep themselves alive until then? Hm hm hm~" Vert exclaimed as she made a break for the no-longer-shielded door and rushed for the rescue team.

@Hanger

The corridors of the ship were certainly fascinating to her, unlike anything that was in her nation despite how somewhat futuristic it looked. Running alongside it, she felt an air of nostalgia for some reason but pushed on regardless. As she caught up with the group, she composed herself as she prepared for another wave of attacks.

"Sorry for my delay, gentlemen. I shall be joining you in our efforts to rescue the Ambassadors. Lead the way, I shall assist wherever I can. The power of a CPU Goddess is yours."

Screaming as the zombies rushed in after the forcefield went down, Rin couldn’t do very much but hide in a corner for a bit. Breathing in and out, she looked around for anything to fight with, while trying to maintain composure despite her terror and earlier outburst. Unfortunately, she could see only crates, so she hid behind them. She could maybe break them and have a wooden plank as a weapon, but she wasn’t sure she was strong enough for that.
“Saving the...ambassador? For all I know, he’s the jerk who let down the force field. That being said...That’s better much better than this mess. Count me in!”
Knowing she doesn’t have the strength to fight back, Rin took a deep breath, before speeding past the zombies and proceeded to the hallways, behind Gumi and the others. Her size made her able to sneak past the zombies swiftly and easily enough. She stopped when she caught up with the group, and noticed the zombies upper ahead. She hid behind Titus and grumbled a bit. If only she could fight back without being ripped to ribbons!
“What a mess...Thanks, Titus guy, I guess. Does anyone have a weapon? I’m perfectly willing to fight and defend, but I’m not stupid enough to fight barehanded!”

Krystal was trying to fight the zombies, but without her blaster and staff, it would be about useless. She still had her blaster pistol on her though, so she opened fire with her blaster pistol on the zombies.

Much to the surprise of Titus himself, he seemed to visually relax at the sound of Vert's voice. Lowering his bolter, he'd sneer and holster the large rifle on his belt. "Games for children. But, there is not much else to be doing in this place, is there?"

Upon Vert's question, the space marine looked as if he hesitated to answer. Or, rather, he felt as if he did not need to answer her question because the answer was obvious just from looking at the man. A giant among men, clad in highly-advanced power armor sanctified in the hymns and cants of the Machine Cult and passed down for millennia among the upper echelons of the Ultramarines. An icon of the Emperor's angels of death, the Adeptus Astartes - the Space Marines. His eyes were steely and barren from generations of death, destruction and bloody battle upon the many war-torn worlds of the Imperium of Man. Yet, his voice sounded like it only barely phased him, for it is his purpose to fight and kill in the name of Mankind.

Above all else, he looked so very tired. Not physically tired for fatigued - for that is physiologically impossible for him due to his implants - but truly tired. Weary and tattered from a centuries of war.

"I am Captain Titus, of the UItramarines 2nd Company," Titus stood tall and spoke officially, but the facade faded when he glanced down at Vert and solemnly nodded. "War and battle in the Emperors name, yes. It is my duty."

Echo had seen about enough killing of both sides, Vektan and Helghast in her days, but zombies was a new one. She was glad she never handed her weapons over.

Echo pulled out her StA61 Vultur, and placed the silencer on, the magazine already in.

She was stealthy enough to pull her way through the first zombies, only to run into another bunch of zombies ahead of the others.

Echo had her eyes on the targeting area on the zombie's head and shot a headshot on the zombie very quickly from a distance and did the same for the others.

"I'm coming too."

“Just shoot em!” Sarge shouted as he put his back to Nathan’s and did just that.

Starscream, noticing that all the big-gamers had left to find the Ambassador and that the number of people holding off the dwindling parasite zombies were... well... also dwindling, had the urge to leave, but first... a little trust-gain for what he would assume would be the later journey, in an effort to increase his chances of survival.

"Every one of us has to go to the Ambassadors!" Starscream urges, "Captain Burnham, you were threatening to open the airlock just now, weren't you? It seems that that is our only option to rid of those... uh... head... crabs..."

He transforms into his jet mode and opens his cockpit.

"Swindle! Return to me! Powerless Earthlings, hop on board!"

The latter primarily refers to Meiji, Stardust, Flower & Nathan. Starscream's jet mode was a two seater for pilot & co-pilot, but with a bit of squeezing, and the fact that Chibi-Robo's size didn't occupy much, the four would fit, should they accept.

"The rest of you, fight well."
