Mr. Moonglade's Extraordinary Orphanage

"Yeah sorry about that honey." Xylia said, noticing Madi's reaction. "You are a little young for that, I guess. Though I do feel bad about not mentioning the whole pants thing. Think he'll hate me forever?" She asked Remi, running her hand through her hair. That was not the way for her to make friends in this group. "Think he likes roses?" She asked him again this time growing half a dozen white roses in her hands as she spoke. It was simple and didn't require much energy but she hoped it showed that she was sorry for almost embarrassing him like that.

Remi shooed Dusk out of the room to go make the change, and mussed Madi's hair with a grin, deftly dodging a swipe from the cat. "Don't worry, I'm sure he'll get over it." He stared in wonder as Xylia grew some flowers. "Lovely, darling. Now that is a good power."
Guessing Dusk had probably had enough time, Remi stepped back into the shadow. "Let's see if he suits legs."
Flickering up to the third floor, he hesitated for a moment. Hesitation was new to him. He wanted to flash straight into his room, lounging on his bed watching the show, and see more of that deep scarlet Dusk had gone, but something stopped him. Dusk was going to have legs. This was a big moment for him. Something told Remi that this wasn’t a moment for him to intrude on with his usual lack of care. He really wanted this to be a good experience for Dusk. So, going against all his instincts, he let Dusk control the situation as much as he could, and knocked. "How are you going in there?" he called.

Consciousness blinked back properly on a second, and Kardia groaned, rubbing xir head. "This construct needs to go," xe complained. "Can I get away with a permanent helmet?"

The kitchen was emptier than it had been. A new person was there, though. "Haji, heart silver," xe murmured. "Dusk left?"

Osiria stared at her latest orphanage. It did seem rather grand, and she had been told that it would be perfect for someone 'special' like her. Glancing over her shoulder once more, Osiria hissed at the receding figure of the lady who had escorted her here. Then, turning back to the building, she slung her duffel bag over her shoulder, grabbed her little suitcase, and made her way towards the building.

Osiria didn't expect to make any friends. They probably all had their own groups already. She just needed to survive, and stay away from people so they wouldn't kill themselves. Simple enough, right?

It had stopped raining. Well, mostly. That was probably enough for at least Remi. Xe probably had to go.

A new heart popped into existence, right outside the orphanage. "Gold," xe murmured, standing. "I'm going. There's another player character at the door. You'll find me there, I think." Kardia swept out the door to the kitchen, heading back to the entrance. This heart was worried. Xe wondered why.

Osiria pushed through the front doors, and dropped her bags. She patted her hair down and smoothed out her sweater. No one seemed to be around, and Osiria swayed back and forth, clicking her tongue. She was about to give up and go off on her own, when someone came up the staircase. They had short brown hair and dark skin. She smiled brightly, her brain clicking into gear. She was never sick of acting. Waving, she took a small step forward.

"Hey! I'm uh, new here." She peered around the room cautiously. "I don't...really know where I'm going." She let out a nervous chuckle, then brought back the smile, though it was dimmer. She then held out her hand, making sure to not bring it up to high, in case she scared the other person. "My name's Osiria, by the way. It's a pleasure to meet you."

Sure, she wasn't exactly satisfied with that performance. But Osiria would have to observe from afar first to get to know these people before she could tailor her thinking to each one of their personalities.

"Can't help you for too long. I'm going to be dragged out soon. Don't see why, but the mall's apparently a good place to stay." Kardia looked over the new girl quickly. Nothing too interesting yet. "You'll figure out the layout of the orphanage soon enough. Dorms and kitchen are both nearby."

Xe paused before adding something else. "You also have a very pretty heart. It's gold. Thought you might find it interesting."

Osiria dropped the facade. At least she could be her regular, cynical, people-hating self.

“Thanks. I’ll head over to the dorms first, then look around. Will not catch you later. And dont tell the others I actually don’t care about them commiting suicide, it’s the fuss that’s annoying. Just going to assume you realised that too.” She grabbed her bags and walked off, the usual dark look on her face. Actually, she had quite liked them. Shame she hadn’t caught a name. Ah well, what did it matter?

A mouse scuttled across the floor, and, wanting a bit of practice, Osiria decided to try out her depression power. She imagined a blanket of despair, pitch black and empty. It floated down on the mouse, The mouse stopped, and sat up. Its whiskers drooped, and ears flattened. Osiria held, and the mouse began to ram its head into the wall. She laughed darkly, lifted the despair, and continued on her way.

Haji turned to see the newest new girl disappear down a hallway. She had listened in on the conversation between her and Kardia. She looked over at the others. She should tell them.
"Another new Person." She calls out as she walked away. She shot Kardia a glance as she passed by and continued down the hallway. She wanted to at least know the girl's name.
"Hey." She says as she catches up. "You're new. Name?" She tilts her head, curious about this person. They appeared to be nervous, so she kept her distance as to not startle them.

Osiria slowed her pace, and looked at the girl, widening her eyes.

“Oh! My name’s Osiria. It’s nice to meet you.”

Osiria offered up a small smile, and took a good look at the other girl’s face. Smirking inwardly, she decided not to resist the urge to let out a bit of her other power. She pushed her attention to her body, and every inch of her skin. She felt a tingle run along her limbs and her face. For a few seconds she was completely numb, before feeling returned to her, and she relaxed. Glancing at her hand for confirmation that the shift had actually happened, Osiria turned back to the girl. Osiria’s skin had gone from a tanned olive colour to a sickly pale. Colour changing had been one of the first things Osiria had gained control of, and she loved doing it.

"Another person?" Xylia asked quietly, deciding to follow Haji, who knew, maybe she wanted to go to the mall as well. She had walked up just as the girl's skin paled drastically.

"Um.... Are you ok?" Xylia asked, taking a step back. She had only gotten a small glance of the girl before she had disappeared down the hallway and she was quite sure that she wasn't that color then. Maybe she doesn't like talking to people and we scared her? Xylia thought as she second guessed inviting the girl to join them.

(Oh my God, Sorry about that. My notifications aren't coming in...)

The door opens slowly, before Dusk pokes his head out from behind eyeing Remi before opening the door fully. There stood Duskly, shortened slightly as it seems, yet, still taller than Remi with fully normal looking human legs. Over them, he wore a pair of his friend's jeans. "I-It feels kinda snug down there" he chuckles nervously. "I look ok...right?"

Osiria heard a voice behind her, and whipped round. She saw another person standing there, looking rather startled. She must have come mid shift. Osiria hurriedly tried to go back, in case she had scared the girl. Her attention went to her feet, then her legs, then her torso, and up to her arms. However, by the time she’d reached her fingers, the rush of it all distracted her, and she lost her focus. She felt the tingle, like tiny beads falling over her hands, and glanced down. Her skin was still incredibly pale, but her fingernails were a few inches longer. Wrong body part, dammit. She tried to at least change her face, as the girl now looked worried and like she was considering leaving Osiria alone. She felt a tingle, and turned back to the others, but their expressions hadn’t changed. Her eyes swept the hallway, and she caught her reflection in a polished vase. Her face was still pale, but her eyes were lagoon blue rather than their usual dull grey. Realising that she couldn’t rush a shift, Osiria decided that she would just have to leave it like this for a while.

“Yes, I’m fine. Sorry for startling you, I just...started a shift without really thinking about it.” Osiria gave an apologetic smile. “I’m Osiria, by the way. It’s nice to meet you!”

Remi gave Dusk a genuine smile when he cracked open the door. He looked nervous, little worried eyes poking out around the side of his door. Remi cocked his head to the side to see him properly, broadening his smile. He opened the door fully. It had taken him a little while to answer the door, but Remi was hardly surprised. He'd had to try negotiating pants for the first time. He was shorter than Remi was used to, his face just that much closer. It made him seem just that little more vulnerable. Remi glanced down. Remi didn’t own any out of fashion jeans, and almost all of them were skinny. Dusk had picked out a dark pair, and he was working them. "They are some nice legs," he told him. He laughed lightly at his words. "They're meant to be snug," he told him. "And well, you are hung like a horse."
Ducking down, he stroked them curiously, as though proving they were real. It was a surreal experience seeing Dusk standing there. In his jeans. He flickered behind him to check. Yep. No horse rear end. And a nice butt. Good job Xylia. Purely because he could, he hugged Dusk from behind. He'd never been able to do it before. "You look gorgeous, Dusk," he told him. Wrapping his arms around him, Remi squeezed briefly before slapping him on the new, gorgeous butt, and dragging him outside. "Come on, let's go show the others."

"I'm Xylia." She said, eyes widening at the display that happened in front of her. The girl has quite unique abilities and she was quite impressed. Her parents raised her with her powers and would occasionally introduce her to other's with strange abilities so none of this surprised her. "That was different. We are about to go shopping, would you like to come?" She asked, shifting her weight. "I think you'll fit right in."

Osiria nodded thoughtfully, pushing the strap of her duffel bag further up her shoulder.

“Sure, I’ll go. Let me just put my bags down, and I’ll be right with you!” She started again down the hallway, waving at Xylia at she went.

Haji looked over at Xylia. After the new girl shifted as she called it, she had been a little put off and retreated a bit. At least someone covered for her. Besides, she wasn't that good at this welcoming stuff.
"Thanks.." She murmured. Haji decided that Xylia was nice, and that new girl Osiria, was okay, just as long as she didn't change to look like her again.

New girl left, then? Okay. Xe could deal with that. Kardia returned to xir former perch on the stairs, listening as the inside buzzed with talk. Xe checked the nearby area, looking to see if there was anyone of import nearby.

No-one outside the orphanage seemed too powerful, at least. Their hearts didn't have the same shimmery cast as the ones with power. Kardia straightened back up, finding that xir head had collapsed onto xir knees in the position xe had taken. Xe picked xirself back up with an ease like xe was used to it. Nothing major.

How close to finished were the orphans inside? If they wanted to enter the buzzing, whirling hurricane of a headache that was the mall, they could at least hurry up. Xe shifted back into a more comfortable position. The best xe could hope for was probably, what, ten minutes? Introductions had to be made to the new member, after all. And rushing the group as a whole wouldn't do anything if it was entirely mental.

Haji decided to sit down and wait for the others to finish getting ready for the outing. She hoped to spend as little time outside as possible. Sitting down, she pulled her knees up so she was curled up into a ball on the chair. As she glances at the other people in the room, she decided to at least stay awake. Who knows, maybe an interesting conversations will come up.

"Yeah no problem. " She said in response. The exchange was a bit different but she liked it. She’d never been so many people with powers and it was exciting. She was thrilled that she could be apart of this strange house. As she waited, she pulled out her phone to flip through Pinterest again, deciding that she could place a bunch of vines around the room for som diy furniture and then buy some smaller decorations to add some color. Oh and she also needed to grab some more clothes for school. A little shopping never hurt, especially when your parents left everything to you.
