"Symphony"

As the group moved to the next location by Guts, a small village that he later said he'd heard rumors of a movement of evil there, in search of a possible great evil, they split up in order to learn more about the ins and outs of the place.

Constantine and a number of others traversed into the tavern in order to gauge the word of the locals within the village (Constantine moreso just needing a drink). From there, the group learns about mass plagues and madness sweeping the village, as well as rumors of the presence of evil in the shape of demons and dark sorcerers terrorizing the village. However, these demonstrations of evil influence did not create the malevolence seen in the village, as it had always been present, as seen when the group later intervenes upon seeing a customer at the tavern harass a barmaid, only to realize that their actions had done more harm than good when the barmaid explains that the man will go on to refocus all his anger on his own daughter, the barmaid's friend, a situation that she had deliberately been trying to avoid.

Guts, Isidro, Puck, and Casca made their way to the brothel in the meantime, along with a handful of others who follows along, reuniting with an old friend from before named Luca, who had since moved to this new village since the last time they had met for a temporary amount of time. Guts requests that Isidro, Puck, and Casca be put under Luca's care while he plans to temporarily move on with the rest of the group, believing this to be a dangerous detour that leads him no closer to his true goal, but a path he must follow regardless. Luca accepts, and in return, the group tends to the girls in the brothel, who are all stricken with the aforementioned mystery plague. Luca also elaborates on the happenings around the village, explaining the situation with the rumors of demons and sorcerers just like at the tavern. All the while, the Hollow Knight interacts with Casca, realizing her infantile mannerisms as "incomplete" of a person, and later on, Libra appears and uses his healing spells to cure the girls of their afflicted plague. Luca laments on how, while she is glad that the girls are healed, this means that they must return to the disheartening work of being an escort of a brothel, an occupation she believes no girl should ever be employed in.

All the while, most of the rest of the group ventures into the inn in order to acquire rooms, where they witness a number of guests hastily leaving the village, as well as the innkeeper himself, who is all but ready to close up shop, believing that it was only a matter of time before this barren village is abandoned. However, through Virginia's coaxing and the claims that the group are "demon hunters" who will save the village from its pestilence, the innkeeper relents and allows them all rooms to rest in. Things take a sharp turn around though as some of them check out their rooms. Virginia initially has trouble entering her own room, prompting Ben and Sebastian to help open the door. Inside, the room is covered in bloody words painted all over, citing nursery rhymes, and a corpse hanging from the ceiling that suddenly reanimates and looks back at them, before Guts, having finished his business at the brothel earlier, appears before them, and it is revealed that they had witnessed a strange shared hallucination.

Paired with that and Kokichi finding a curious necklace with a red "jewel" on it, which Guts recognizes as a Behelit (albeit, a fake) and a symbol of his cursed past, he theorizes that the enemy (Faust and whoever he serves) have been alerted to the group's presence in the village and are likely on their way to attack now, prompting everyone to come together and talk about the best course of action.

"If you lot are really set on this though, be sure to--" Constantine began to say as the group began to formulate a solid plan to prepare against the possible oncoming onslaught, but before he could say much, everyone's train of thought was interrupted by a shrill scream out of nowhere.

"AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAGHHHHH!"

It was none other than the innkeeper, who had mostly been spending all his time nervously looking out the window and focusing more on minding his own business, not listening in on the conversation, but now, here he was, convulsing in agony as his body began vibrating suddenly. His wrists twisted in ways no human limb should ever twist naturally, as though invisible arms forced them to dislocate. The same happened to his neck, before he fell to the ground, his limbs continuing to contort in grotesque ways, before he suddenly shot up to his feet just as abruptly.

Standing before them, eyes suddenly glowing red, it was clear, at least to Constantine, what had just happened.

"Bloody hell, he's been possessed!" He said, drawing his lighter as though it were a gun, even pointing it at the possessed innkeeper dramatically, "Sorry 'bout this, laddie. But it's either me or you!"

FWOOSH!

Using his own personal magic, Constantine manipulated the fire in the lighter as he opened it up, the heat shooting out in a great burst and burning the man with a force great enough that he was sent flying into the wall, clothes and skin badly burned, but it seemed like he wasn't necessarily dead.

Without stopping to even feel bad about what he'd did to the poor man, let alone check to make sure he was alright, Constantine looked back to the group with a grave expression, eyes narrowed in a serious manner.

"Looks like it's already started. We need to--"

And then it started.

BOOM! BOOM! BOOM!

"W-What was that?!"

"Good question," Guts gruffly said, before clenching his fists and walking over to the front door and opening it. And from there, it was quite clear to everyone.

"The welcoming party's already here."

A literal rain of fire poured down upon the village, hitting the roof almost like burning hail, even if the individual pieces weren't that much at a given time, making them easy enough to avoid.

Still, that was perhaps the last thing on people's minds, as once everyone got a look at what the outside looked like, it was nothing good. Red sky littered the clouds, as if to mirror the bloodied scene before them. Monstrous demons ran amok, slaughtering the innocent, terrorized villagers, either with their razor sharp claws or their crocodile-like teeth. To call it horrific would have been an understatement; it was death and chaos as far as the eye could see.

Blood soaked everywhere, staining the ground, the well, the walls, and so forth, as civilians were slaughtered before everyone's eyes, despite their best efforts to run for their lives. And at the center of it all, there was no doubt that the demons were here for them.

"Waah! Is this a fireworks show?! Mii-kun, Kurumi-chan, Rii-san, we have to get a better look at them!" Yuki exclaimed, gesturing for her friends to follow, jumping into the fray and running deeper into the village, continuing as though everything was still fine obliviously.

"Yuki-senpai, wait!" Miki yelled out, running after her, forced to catch up to her once again, but now with far greater stakes compared to the last time.

Simultaneously, among the chaotic scene, screams could be distinctly heard from the brothel. Eye widening in alarm, Guts wordlessly took off toward the small building, running at a brisk pace, especially for someone with at least four hundred pounds worth of metal weighing him down.

Thus, the group had two places to choose from as to where to go:

Head deeper into the village, whether in hopes of taking on the demons and monsters head on and / or following Yuki and Miki to save them from harm.

Head to the brothel, where screams could be heard, just almost drowned out by what sounded like laughter as well. Guts was certainly eager to go there, at least.

These were all warnings given by a select few who travelled from a dark future to save the past before Grima could destroy them. They had succeeded, the world was at peace, never to know of the horrors of a nightmarish future.

Until now.

Libra and Sumia watched as innocent people, who they'd hoped to protect, were massacred before their eyes. This was far worse than anything they could have hoped. Having fought in the Ylissian army, both were used to slaughter and injustice...but never to this degree. And now, it seemed everyone they wanted to protect was in danger.

"GIRLS!!!" Sumia raced deeper into the village after Miki and Yuki, desperate to save them before anything happened to them. Libra, meanwhile, hurried to the brothel, determined to protect everyone there.

"CHROMASTONE!"

Before everyone's eyes, a crystalline being popped in Ben's place. As the fiery rain hit it, it merely absorbed it without feeling pain, and instead, a brief ultraviolet glow where the flames struck.

"Guess it wouldn't hurt for me to stay outside for a while," Chromastone says, before lookinh at Yuki and Miki run off in a distance.

"But it looks like it'd hurt for them!" Chromastone has a panicked expression as he ran after Yuki & Miki into the village, with Sumia by his side. "I'm heading out for a while, possibly a long while!"

"Girls!" Chromastone says to Miki & Yuki as he ran after them, the fire rain continuously hitting and melding into him. He reaches his hands out. "We've gotta get you to safety with the others! I can fly us there pronto!"

Hollow Knight mimicked Guts' action perfectly, taking off after the large man at a far faster pace. It deftly leapt over crumbling debris and dashed through the air like a bullet, leaving a trail of some black substance floating about like gas as it coursed towards the Brothel.​

Morte meanwhile was already heading out the door. "We gotta save the girls!" Was the only thing he exclaimed before heading towards the brothel.

"Oh, wow. That's a bit more than I expected. A little extra, don't you think?"

"Hey, Libra, I think it would be wise to let you go ahead of me. I'm sure your Naga or whatever can keep you safe from all these demons."

Kokichi followed Libra to the brothel.​

Lindel grit his teeth at the sound of chaos and bloodshed, he had seen many things in his lifetime and knew life could be cruel, but he wasn't going to just stand by when he could do something after all. Without a word, he rushed into the brothel with the others.

As Guts kicked down the door upon reaching the building along with the group, he froze as the sight before him almost threatened to overwhelm him. A number of men flooded the brothel (unbeknownst to the immediate group who went for the brothel, they happened to be the same men from the tavern), laughing as their eyes flashed red, a telltale sign that they were possessed.

"A-Aaaaaahh... Aaaah... AAAAAAAHHHHH!!"

Casca let out a wild scream as some of the men pulled at her hair, laughing lowly like monkeys, while others wrapped their arm around her body in an attempt to pick her up. Other men in the area also struggled to hoist the other girls in the building over their shoulders, including Luca who struggled in vain to fight off her attackers, as though they all intended to take them away to wherever they had come from.

All the while, Isidro tried to stave off the possessed men with his dagger, but to little avail, quickly bested when one of them backhanded the orange-haired boy into the ground, grunting with a thud as he hit the floor, his blade sliding over toward Kokichi's feet.

Guts clicked his tongue as he was reluctant to draw his giant sword. Casca's screams were like nails on a chalkboard to him, but if these men were just normal people not in control of their actions, he was in a conundrum that would keep from at least immediately acting here and now. His weapon wasn't exactly made to just incapacitate, nor was anything else he had on him.

"Well, that's certainly one way to make an entrance..." Ciel huffed as he stood with the group, his arms neatly folded and hugged close to his chest. "It appears that the demons are more rampant in the village. If my presumption is correct, Felix Faust should be there as well."

"Sebastian! I order you to accompany me to the village!" Ciel shouted, causing his faithful butler to simply nod in return.

And with that, the two headed deeper into the village.​

Fire. Chaos. Destruction. Slaughter.

These were all warnings given by a select few who travelled from a dark future to save the past before Grima could destroy them. They had succeeded, the world was at peace, never to know of the horrors of a nightmarish future.

Until now.

Libra and Sumia watched as innocent people, who they'd hoped to protect, were massacred before their eyes. This was far worse than anything they could have hoped. Having fought in the Ylissian army, both were used to slaughter and injustice...but never to this degree. And now, it seemed everyone they wanted to protect was in danger.

"GIRLS!!!" Sumia raced deeper into the village after Miki and Yuki, desperate to save them before anything happened to them. Libra, meanwhile, hurried to the brothel, determined to protect everyone there.​

Even if Constantine didn't care, Grace did and cast a healing spell on the inn keeper before standing up. "I am heading into the village anyone is welcome to full me."

Yuki only made it a few feet forward before Miki managed to catch up to her and grab her by the arm, halting the pink-haired girl in her tracks and allowing for the group also heading deeper into the village to catch up as well. Placing both her hands on her upperclassman's shoulders, Miki looked down at Yuki with great concern.

"Yuki-senpai, i-it's not safe out here! We need to find shelter!" She exclaimed, attempting to urge Yuki to move out of the way of the falling balls of fire from the sky, all the while the red clouds continued to obscure the air.

"Eh? Why's that? We're not thaaat close to the fireworks!"

"That's not what I--"

THUD!

Miki was interrupted when an imposing monster, almost as big as the buildings in the village themselves in terms of height, landed seemingly out of nowhere right in front of them and the rest of the group who followed, shocking her stiff as a statue.

"A-Ah...?"

"..."

The demon was almost reminiscent of some sort of reverse centaur, with the upper body of a human at the back, and the monster's horn held a small line that seemed to be able to used by the upper body to use as a bow. His arrow, more like a thin lance, aimed deliberately at the defenseless Yuki and Miki, ready to kill them at a given moment.

And so, they began to make their move, attempting to flee from the back!

Libra had to act fast. Raising his staff in order to possibly use Mend to boost his exorcism, the priest began chanting.

Yuki only made it a few feet forward before Miki managed to catch up to her and grab her by the arm, halting the pink-haired girl in her tracks and allowing for the group also heading deeper into the village to catch up as well. Placing both her hands on her upperclassman's shoulders, Miki looked down at Yuki with great concern.

"Yuki-senpai, i-it's not safe out here! We need to find shelter!" She exclaimed, attempting to urge Yuki to move out of the way of the falling balls of fire from the sky, all the while the red clouds continued to obscure the air.

"Eh? Why's that? We're not thaaat close to the fireworks!"

"That's not what I--"

THUD!

Miki was interrupted when an imposing monster, almost as big as the buildings in the village themselves in terms of height, landed seemingly out of nowhere right in front of them and the rest of the group who followed, shocking her stiff as a statue.

"A-Ah...?"

The demon was almost reminiscent of some sort of reverse centaur, with the upper body of a human at the back, and the monster's horn held a small line that seemed to be able to used by the upper body to use as a bow. His arrow, more like a thin lance, aimed deliberately at the defenseless Yuki and Miki, ready to kill them at a given moment.

Chromastone, with impossible speeds, appeared in front of Yuki & Miki to tank to hit from the lance, the the lance-like arrow being caught digging a single centimetre into his body. This all happened in the blink of an eye while Sumia moved the girls away from the attacks and told him to hold the beast off!

"You can count on me, Sumia!" Chromastone declares as he picks the lance off his chest tosses it aside, not feeling a single bit of pain while doing so.

"Hey, My Little Pony, you wanna play with the pretty little princess playset?" Chromastone mocks the odd centaurian beast. "I'll be Twilight Sparkle!"

With those last few words, Chromastone unleashed a powerful ultraviolet blast at the beast, dealing vast damage and knocking it off-balance before he hovered towards it at unbelievable speeds, punching it in the beast-like face three times, possibly breaking the beast's horns in the process!

Truly, the greatest misfortune in this situation was not the fact that these men were not in control of their actions, but the fact that Hollow Knight had yet to learn the meaning of restraint. If only it had any capacity for empathy or reason in this situation - the Hollow Knight does not see people, all it saw were threats to the one creature in a gaggle of "humans" that it had even the tiniest shred of empathy or thought for. Even the girls were just meaningless sacks of flesh. As the Knight watched Casca scream and clutch at her hair, it triggered a reaction before from when the Knight had first met the girl - feeling. A spark of warmth within a hollow void - but this warmth wasn't same kind as before.

It was. . .intense. Like fire. It shone some light within the nothingness that makes up the Knight, but this light wasn't one of hope, or courage, or anything wholesome like that. It was somehow darker than the void itself, because it came with malicious intent permeating it's existence. This new feeling that touches the burgeoning consciousness of the Knight.

It's emotion. It's anger. It's rage. It's fire. Raw energy.

. . .Surely, Guts had a thought process like this once upon a time, no?

FWOOSH!

Before the men could make their escape through the hole one of them had made through the wall, Hollow Knight was suddenly consumed by a pitch darkness, weaving through the air faster than they could act and reforming at their escape hole, being the only thing standing between them and the outside. Void energy drifted around the Hollow Knight as it held it's sword in one hand, staring through the men and keeping a watch on Casca. If one of them were to try and attack or force the Knight out of it's way - or if they just stood and watched - the Knight would proceed simply;

It would leap up, planting it's feet on the man's arm and proceeding to force the blade of the sword right through his meaty skull. Yet, these weren't normal "humans". Hollow Knight would attempt to tear the men to ribbons, dashing and leaping around their sluggish attacks and making mincemeat out of the possessed civilians with the Nail. It would drive deep gashes through their throats, and cleave through skulls like butter.

Bones would be shattered under the concussive force of the Knight forcefully dashing into their backs, and necks would be impaled as the Nail ripped and teared the flesh asunder.

And if the exorcism works?

Well.

Someone should stop him by then.

"If you lot are really set on this though, be sure to--" Constantine began to say as the group began to formulate a solid plan to prepare against the possible oncoming onslaught, but before he could say much, everyone's train of thought was interrupted by a shrill scream out of nowhere.

"AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAGHHHHH!"

It was none other than the innkeeper, who had mostly been spending all his time nervously looking out the window and focusing more on minding his own business, not listening in on the conversation, but now, here he was, convulsing in agony as his body began vibrating suddenly. His wrists twisted in ways no human limb should ever twist naturally, as though invisible arms forced them to dislocate. The same happened to his neck, before he fell to the ground, his limbs continuing to contort in grotesque ways, before he suddenly shot up to his feet just as abruptly.

Standing before them, eyes suddenly glowing red, it was clear, at least to Constantine, what had just happened.

"Bloody hell, he's been possessed!" He said, drawing his lighter as though it were a gun, even pointing it at the possessed innkeeper dramatically, "Sorry 'bout this, laddie. But it's either me or you!"

FWOOSH!

Using his own personal magic, Constantine manipulated the fire in the lighter as he opened it up, the heat shooting out in a great burst and burning the man with a force great enough that he was sent flying into the wall, clothes and skin badly burned, but it seemed like he wasn't necessarily dead.

Without stopping to even feel bad about what he'd did to the poor man, let alone check to make sure he was alright, Constantine looked back to the group with a grave expression, eyes narrowed in a serious manner.

"Looks like it's already started. We need to--"

And then it started.

BOOM! BOOM! BOOM!

"W-What was that?!"

"Good question," Guts gruffly said, before clenching his fists and walking over to the front door and opening it. And from there, it was quite clear to everyone.

"The welcoming party's already here."

A literal rain of fire poured down upon the village, hitting the roof almost like burning hail, even if the individual pieces weren't that much at a given time, making them easy enough to avoid.

Still, that was perhaps the last thing on people's minds, as once everyone got a look at what the outside looked like, it was nothing good. Red sky littered the clouds, as if to mirror the bloodied scene before them. Monstrous demons ran amok, slaughtering the innocent, terrorized villagers, either with their razor sharp claws or their crocodile-like teeth. To call it horrific would have been an understatement; it was death and chaos as far as the eye could see.

Blood soaked everywhere, staining the ground, the well, the walls, and so forth, as civilians were slaughtered before everyone's eyes, despite their best efforts to run for their lives. And at the center of it all, there was no doubt that the demons were here for them.

"Waah! Is this a fireworks show?! Mii-kun, Kurumi-chan, Rii-san, we have to get a better look at them!" Yuki exclaimed, gesturing for her friends to follow, jumping into the fray and running deeper into the village, continuing as though everything was still fine obliviously.

"Yuki-senpai, wait!" Miki yelled out, running after her, forced to catch up to her once again, but now with far greater stakes compared to the last time.

Simultaneously, among the chaotic scene, screams could be distinctly heard from the brothel. Eye widening in alarm, Guts wordlessly took off toward the small building, running at a brisk pace, especially for someone with at least four hundred pounds worth of metal weighing him down.

Thus, the group had two places to choose from as to where to go:

Head deeper into the village, whether in hopes of taking on the demons and monsters head on and / or following Yuki and Miki to save them from harm.

Head to the brothel, where screams could be heard, just almost drowned out by what sounded like laughter as well. Guts was certainly eager to go there, at least.

Siegward looked on in horror at the chaos unfolding all around him. This was too much. He had hoped that this world wasn't nearly as bad as his home world, but it was just as bad, if not worse. He dropped his Storm Ruler and fell to his knees at the sight.

"By the Gods... this is... this is absolute mayhem!" This wasn't the kind of chaos and destruction that he could just drink away. He could see all of it in its horrible form; his mind was no longer alleviated by the effects of alcohol. He looked to the Storm Ruler on the ground and remembered his duty back in his home world. He couldn't die here. He'd kill to stop that from happening.

He clenched his fists tight and picked up his Storm Ruler. He arose from the ground and marched toward the village with purpose: to destroy the evil that plagued this land, to further his own mission, and most importantly, to assist his allies.​

He put his Pierce Shield on his back and charged into battle with his Storm Ruler occupying both of his hands. "Thank you for this fine gift... Yhorm," he muttered to himself as he prepared his strike. The individuals in the vicinity would feel a shift in the air, as though a storm was brewing. This air would conglomerate onto Siegward's sword, and once it was fully charged up, he moved to the side of the beast and swung with all his might!

"HRAAAAAAAAAAAH!"​

Siegward's powerful strike at the creature's side managed to grab its attention, black blood leaking out of its wound from the attack, but the knight would find that attempting to cut through the monster's flesh was like trying to cut through tough meat with little more than a dull knife. Still, it seemed to have caught his attention long enough to be subject to Ben's attack, getting knocked over and beaten.

However, the demon seemed to be as resilient as it was massive, quickly grabbing Chromastone's fist as the second punch was thrown with one hand while the other hand balled into a fist and countered with his own two punches, once in the face, and then another in the stomach, before stepping back upright with the hero still in his grip.

With a menacing growl, the monster tightened its grip on Ben's head for a brief moment, as though considering attempting to crush it with his sheer strength, before deciding to go with another plan, turning toward Siegward and throwing Chromastone's body right at him with the hopes of knocking them both to the ground, before raising his massive hoove and hoping to stomp it down on the two of them to crush them.

Meanwhile, with Miki and Yuki brought to safety by Sumia, the pale blonde girl wrapped her arm around Sumia like a pillar of support, shivering in fear at the sights before her.

"W-Why... Why is this happening...? Those people... T-They're all dying... because of us...? Did we... really bring these monsters here?"

Libra had to act fast. Raising his staff in order to possibly use Mend to boost his exorcism, the priest began chanting.

Truly, the greatest misfortune in this situation was not the fact that these men were not in control of their actions, but the fact that Hollow Knight had yet to learn the meaning of restraint. If only it had any capacity for empathy or reason in this situation - the Hollow Knight does not see people, all it saw were threats to the one creature in a gaggle of "humans" that it had even the tiniest shred of empathy or thought for. Even the girls were just meaningless sacks of flesh. As the Knight watched Casca scream and clutch at her hair, it triggered a reaction before from when the Knight had first met the girl - feeling. A spark of warmth within a hollow void - but this warmth wasn't same kind as before.

It was. . .intense. Like fire. It shone some light within the nothingness that makes up the Knight, but this light wasn't one of hope, or courage, or anything wholesome like that. It was somehow darker than the void itself, because it came with malicious intent permeating it's existence. This new feeling that touches the burgeoning consciousness of the Knight.

It's emotion. It's anger. It's rage. It's fire. Raw energy.

. . .Surely, Guts had a thought process like this once upon a time, no?

FWOOSH!

Before the men could make their escape through the hole one of them had made through the wall, Hollow Knight was suddenly consumed by a pitch darkness, weaving through the air faster than they could act and reforming at their escape hole, being the only thing standing between them and the outside. Void energy drifted around the Hollow Knight as it held it's sword in one hand, staring through the men and keeping a watch on Casca. If one of them were to try and attack or force the Knight out of it's way - or if they just stood and watched - the Knight would proceed simply;

It would leap up, planting it's feet on the man's arm and proceeding to force the blade of the sword right through his meaty skull. Yet, these weren't normal "humans". Hollow Knight would attempt to tear the men to ribbons, dashing and leaping around their sluggish attacks and making mincemeat out of the possessed civilians with the Nail. It would drive deep gashes through their throats, and cleave through skulls like butter.

Bones would be shattered under the concussive force of the Knight forcefully dashing into their backs, and necks would be impaled as the Nail ripped and teared the flesh asunder.

And if the exorcism works?

Well.

Someone should stop him by then.​

It seemed that Libra's exorcism spell at least managed to give the possessed men pause, as their bodies began vibrating and it seemed like they were rendered unable to move. However, it was impossible to tell whether or not the exorcism would have had a lasting success once the Hollow Knight leapt into the fray, violently attacking the possessed men. If nothing else, with the demons' souls bound to the human's bodies, at least the men were dying for a good cause, right?

A slit throat here, an impaled face there, it was almost as though Libra's attempted exorcism functioned more as a spell that put them completely at the defenseless mercy of the Hollow Knight. As the small building was cleared out, the girls of the brothel gasping in terror while Luca and Guts had watched in bewilderment, the brothel became bathed in blood as the men ceased to move any longer. The girls huddled against the wall with each other, holding each other and shivering with fright as they gazed fearfully upon the small knight.

Even Casca.

Even Casca was frightened by the bloody display, letting out delirious screams as she joined with the rest of the girls, giving a look that Hollow Knight may not have fully comprehended as he was right now, but one that would surely leave a mark.

A look that solidified his journey to becoming more human, because this look was what humans oft gave others and received from others.

A look of complete, utter, total rejection.

And yet, given the situation, this moment of rejection was hardly given a moment to even be registered so deeply, as Guts quickly shook his head and sauntered over to Luca and Isidro, helping them up, used to this display of violence. He had no right, or even any desire anyway for that matter, to judge how deep one would be willing to sink into the abyss to drag others into it.

"Are you guys alright?"

"Well, other than a few bruises, I'm... I'm alright, thanks" Luca said, still trying to collect her breath, before continuing to speak, seeming to look past Guts and particularly eye Libra as she did so, "If they wanted to kill us, we'd be dead already. You guys wouldn't... have any clue where they would have wanted to take us, would you?"

Sumia held Miki and Yuki close to her to keep them (well, Yuki, really) from running away again, silently watching the battle. Once Miki asked her question, Sumia would tear her eyes from the scene and look at the poor girl she'd worked so hard to keep happy. She couldn't make her happy now, but she could at least try to make her not feel miserable.

"No, no...this isn't our fault, Miki. I promise. Evil things happen to good people. Like the zombies in your world, a-and the Risen in mine. This isn't because of us, I promise."

Her grip tightened unconsciously, the grief and despair on her face morphing into determination. Now she seemed to be thinking out loud, reassuring herself as well as the girls. "But we're able to do something about this. We can put an end to those who caused this. We will. And that way...that way these people can rest in peace."

What? Libra watched in horror as his exorcism was interrupted by Hollow Knight's massacre. That bloodlust...he would never had thought that tiny creature had it in him. And those poor girls, screaming in the corner...Libra knew all too well how horrible trauma could make you feel. Festering, cruel, something to repress that would bubble up at the worst times, no matter how much you never wanted it to, to claw and gnaw inside and remind you of the darkest times of your life-

Luca was looking at him, and he snapped back to reality, to his current situation. "I...I'm glad you're all right, Miss Luca. I'm sorry it had to turn out this way." He looked at the mangled bodies of those he'd only seen onceswallowing to get the dryness out of his throat.

At her next question, he nodded. "I get the feeling they were hoping to lure us out of this village by using you all as hostages. I have no doubt ut would have worked had we not...intervened."

Chromastone absorbs the fiery rain surrounding him, glowing a chrome hue as the beast gripped onto him. Before he could do anything, the beast, tired of playing with the Crystalsapien, tossed him towards Siegward.

"OK, I would do that if I were you- OOF."

Chromastone's ridiculous durability and absorbed energy allowed a quick recovery before the hoof could stomp.

"Hey, Siegward, wanna test a combination attack here?"

Chromastone hovered its body upwards as it recovered, before a much more powerful ultraviolet blast was aimed at a spot on the beast's massive hoof.

"Sumia's right, we shouldn't blame ourselves, but we shouldn't let the deaths of the fallen innocents be in vain either," Chromastone adds, "that's why I'm not giving up anytime soon, and neither should any of us!"

He panted and looked a bit dizzy as he listened to Ben's plan. He responded in a serious tone, "Let's..."

He ran as fast as he could toward the creature. Storm began gathering around his sword as he made his way over, and he would eventually take another powerful swing, but this time it was horizontal and aimed at the hoof as well. He hoped to make progress with this strike, as he could not use this Weapon Skill too many times within the same time frame.​

It was a complete massacre. The moment Soraka stepped out of the inn, she had a grotesque view over the bloodied village. Monstrous demons were killing the villagers left to right. The villagers were completely defenseless against the attacks.

She felt a sharp pang against her heart when she inspected the bloody corpses littering the village. She called onto the stars and felt its power surging through her core. She gathered the star's essence in her staff, prepared for danger that might befall her.

She knows that some villagers are still alive. so she went deeper into the village.

The magus didn't bother looking at the carnage for too long, death came to everyone, even him. Though that didn't mean he wasn't a little caught off guard by Hallow Knight's sudden display.

Lindel had to raise a brow at Morte's words, slight doubt in them. Other than keeping the entrance blocked, most of the group here didn't do much else other than Libra and Hallow Knight upon arrival.

Glancing over to the poor girls he clicked his tongue and sighed. Other than trauma, they appeared to be relatively unharmed from what he could tell. His eyes took a sweep of the room with furriwed brows.

The matter at hand was dealt with, but whether or not they'd stay and guard the place, or went to assist the others was up for debate in the elder's mind. The last time they split up they eventually regrouped, but there was no telling if the girls would be attacked again if they left to help the others.

"If there's any injury, I'd gladly heal them, if needed." he suggested, glancing from the hole in the wall to the rest. He doubted anyone needed healing, but he couldn't heal very serious wounds in the first place.

"I understand how you feel, but those aren't the right things to be asking!"

A voice rang from above Sumia and the girls, belonging to none other than a Sera Mizuki, who soared past them like a swift moving bird.

Wielding the sword forged by her Creation dream while flying through the air at high speed through the Magic and Attack dreams, her current visage came quite literally out of a dream. Perhaps it could be said that something like a dream had no place in a city like this, fueled by harsh reality and malevolence. But nightmares were nothing more than a kind of dream. So if those were going to exist here, then even a "good" dream had a right to soar through the skies and slay their nightmarish foes!

"If it's our fault, we have no choice but to take responsibility! And if it isn't, we still can't just let these people die, can we? So, our responsibility remains the same, no matter what!"

While it wasn't any fault of theirs necessarily that the demons were after them, they did have that knowledge. Rather than hiding in a town, perhaps it could be said they should have moved outside of it so that no innocents would be dragged into it. On the other hand, if the monsters simply attacked the town anyway to drag them out, they would be in no position to help the villagers. So long as knowledge was limited, and it always was, there would never be a perfect solution.
