“Leave the one liners to me, dirtbag.” Sarge said to Starscream as he continued to shoot at the spider’s legs.

"One-liners are the right of all sentient beings, nutjob," Starscream smirks in response, continuing his assault upon the arachnoid beast.

Chapter Two
"Into Darkness"

"Now!" Burnham yelled, slamming her hand down on the emergency door button and putting a barrier between the group and the creatures. They began to thump and scratch against the door. They would soon break through, if not for the next step in the process.

On Burnham's signal, the bridge crew opened up the hangar bay doors to the open space beyond. The rapid depressurization of the hangar bay rapidly pulled the creatures and everything in the hangar out into space, though no one behind the door could see this. Judging by the look on Burnham's face, however, the plan went off without a hitch.

"Now we just have to deal with the remaining creatures," Burnham said after a heavy sigh.

"It's all right!" Stamets said over the comms. "I have a plan!"

***

Stamets had relayed his plan to both Burnham and Saru. As long as Stamets was confident in what he was doing, they had no choice but to believe this was our best option.

"Alright, everyone. Black alert. Prepare yourselves, and let's all hope for the best," Saru said plainly for the immediate crew to hear, as well as those all across the Discovery via comm link, settling in the captain's chair in the center of the bridge.

"Ready when you are, Mister Stamets."

With the creature out of the chamber in dead, Stamets stepped inside and hooked himself up to the device inside. "This is the spore drive I was talking about," he explained, his voice echoing throughout the engineering room. Tilly and the other officers worked away consoles, readying the ship to make their jump. The chamber began to fill with what looked like small blue lights and Stamets smiled.

"You're going to love this," he said to Emily and the others, before closing his eyes.

In just a few seconds, everything turned blue.

***

It had only taken a moment, but it soon was as if nothing happened at all. Except, of course, for the fact that all of the creatures had disappeared.

In engineering, Stamets stepped out of the chamber, wiping sweat from his brow. "I think it worked," he said, slowly moving toward his console. Once he saw that Emily and the others were still there, he sighed. "Good news, you weren't left behind. Bad news, reversing the coordinates of the last jump didn't send you home."

He moved to his console, frowning. "Stamets to the bridge, where are we?"

***

"Determining that now, Mister Stamets," Saru responded as the crew was at work to identify anything quantum signatures before one of the helmsmen turned toward the Acting Captain.

"Sir! We've detected a Constitution-class starship in the distance. Getting a reading on it now just to be certain," he said, beginning to scan the new ship as it began to come into sight for those on the Bridge. A tense silence followed as the ship began flying closer to the Discovery; after all, why wouldn't they? Starfleet ships were always aware whenever they were being scanned, and to be randomly scanned by another Starfleet ship would have been a strange maneuver indeed.

Eventually, the helmsman looked back at Saru, shaking his head solemnly. "It's... It's no good, sir. The quantum signatures don't match our ship's. Even though we're back in a dimension, it's not precisely ours."

Saru pursed his lips slightly, troubled by the news, but he knew that this was hardly any time to stop now. "Understood. For our next course of action, I think--" he began.

"Captain! The ship's beginning to hail us! Should we accept and communicate with them?"

Saru hesitated for a moment, before nodding. "Patch them in. Let's hope they aren't anything like the Terrans. Burnham, Stamets, be ready for anything."

In short, as for as you were all concerned, while you weren't home just yet, or even those native to the Discovery, it seemed like this was at least a step in the right direction, and with the strange creatures gone now, one could only hope that you could take this moment to at least breathe now.

"For now, bring our guests to the lounge."

***

It wasn't long before Burnham had gathered everyone to the recreational deck of the ship. While the Security Personnel were on clean-up and headcount duty, Burnham addressed the guests. "As a... courtesy for assisting us in saving the ambassador's life, we will allow you your weaponry back. However..." Burnham looked squarely at Vader. "Do watch this man for us. We believe we can trust most of you, so prove that to us by being each other's keeper."

"That's easily the least you can do," Elliot grumbled. "Do we have full access to your ship yet?"

Burnham shook her head. "No. You will have to stay here on this deck of the Discovery. Please understand that we need to know where you all are at any given point in time. Plus, we need to scour the ship to repair damages done by that dangerous species."

With that out of the way, Burnham walked off to the side to communicate with the bridge privately.

" Well, it looks like we aren't prisoners in the hangar bay, so that is a positive. Gumi, if you don't mind, I would like my attachments back for now. Nathan, you can keep the quad blaster until we find you something and my jacket if you still plan on napping, hopefully that other ship is nice. Also, thanks Elliot for assisting Nathan and I."

"Gumi!" Oh thank God, what a relief! "Are you okay?"

"Bro!!!" Gumi tackled Gakupo into a hug, almost knocking him down. "I'm great!!! I got to carry an ambassador to safety, and ohmygoshcheckoutmyrocketboots!!!!" She started to fly in the air with her brother in tow. Her excitement soon faded, though, once she noticed something. "Yo! What's that hole in your leg?"

"Huh? Oh, uh...nothing. I tripped. Could you put me down?"

"Bro..." Gumi acquiesed, setting them down. Silent a moment, she quickly perked up as she gave Star-lord his boot bits back. "Here! That was soooooo fun!! Thank you!! When U get home I am SO getting some of those!!!"

Kirby didn't get the chance to eat the mysterious bug-like creature, as it had disappeared before he could inhale it. However, with everyone now back together again, Kirby walked around to each person on the deck. To everyone, be said "hi," and gave them a hug to make sure they were okay. “...huh. Well, at least I have my grenades and pistol back.” Grif said as he pocketed his remaining weapons, though not the extra assault rifle that lay there because he had the one Kirby had copied.

"While some things are best kept from other races, what I can say is that my transformation is a trait shared by all Cybertronian life. When we go to other planets, we use this ability to scan technology, sometimes even fauna. This allows us to assume alternate modes that allow us to blend in, essentially Robots in Disguise, if you may," Starscream explains, "I scanned an Earth fighter jet, so I can transform into one. Most Decepticons have scanned flight-based vehicles sucj as planes and helicopters. The Autobots have scanned land-based vehicles, cars, motorcycles and such. Some may even assume the form of simpler technologies like radios, televisions, traffic lights and generators, but as such forms are not too fit for combat and do not grant additional speed, we rarely do so. I could never imagine Soundwave assuming such mobile, brick-like forms...

"It seems that many of us still wish to recover from our predicament, but I suppose I might hop back in if we gather most of our prior players," Starscream adds.

“You mean that anyone here could be a giant killer robot and we wouldn’t even know it?!” Sarge asked as he peered across the room, squinting his eyes behind his helmet as he eyed each inhabitant.

Sarge was now twice as paranoid as he was before. Good job.

Grif wouldn't find much to do in the immediate vicinity, but there were food synthesizers available with an array of food options available for use.
